201 | Searching for the truth | Heb 1:2 | gracefull | 76190
Hebrews 7:22 Also this shows a better covenant of which Yeshua has become guarantor. Hebrews 8:6 But now the work Yeshua has been given to do is far superior to theirs, just as the covenant He mediates is better. Hebrews 10 16 " 'This is the covenant which I will make with them after those days,' says ADONAI: 'I will put my Torah(law) on their hearts, and write it on their minds...'" God is not mad at us, He did everything in the Old Covenant to bring about this better New Covenant. What the Old Testament saints would have given to have the Spirit of God in them leading them personally! God has not taken away what is better, but has provided what is better. Ask Him to show you this in your spirit. |

202 | Searching for the truth | Heb 2:4 | gracefull | 76009
Robert, there are those with other gifts, prophetic, discernment, healing, word of knowledge, etc. however since they are not as 'noticeable' believers, media, critics, don't pay them much attention. Tongues is very visable and receives the most criticism. When the Holy Spirit gives a word of knowledge it is usually between the gifted person and an individual. Example...Someone I know was at a restaurant when the Holy Spirit told this person to go to a complete stranger at another table and tell them the intense prayer of their heart was about to be fulfilled, and to not lose hope. A few weeks later we were all invited to a 'singing' by a visitor to our church so we went. While we were there a lady came hurrying up to us and told her husband.."This is the lady from the restaurant! The one who told me God was going to answer my prayer." Then she turned to my friend and said that God had indeed answered her prayer for a lost uncle she had been interceeding for. Did the world see? Was the church involved? No, but the gift was present. Though many speak in tongues, not that many have the Gift of tongues. But all can have the prayer language which is really what most are seeking. AGAIN the GIFT of tongues for the edification of the body is different from the personal prayer language available to every believer. One MUST seperate the two. 1 Corinthians 12:10 Gift for the edification of the body 1 Corinthians 14:12-14 Prayer language also, the Holy Spirit chooses who receives what gifts, and places it on the heart of the believer. If I desire a gift for personal glory, God did not place that desire in my heart and will not give me the gift. He choose who receives what gifts and When He wants them to manifest. God bless |

203 | In Heb 4.1....What is (His Rest) | Heb 4:1 | gracefull | 84165
"Heb 3:14 For we have become fellows with Christ (the Messiah) and share in all He has for us, if only we hold our first newborn confidence and original assured expectation [in virtue of which we are believers] firm and unshaken to the end. Heb 3:15 Then while it is [still] called Today, if you would hear His voice and when you hear it, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion [in the desert, when the people provoked and irritated and embittered God against them]. [Ps. 95:7, 8.] Heb 3:16 For who were they who heard and yet were rebellious and provoked [Him]? Was it not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?" Based on the context of chapter 3 and 4, I believe entering that rest is two fold. The initial rest is to rest in the righteousness of Christ, as ours is as filthy rags. AND I believe that resting is a continual process, based on verse Heb 4:12- For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart." To me, rest is living by faith in whatever God's Word says, thus both entering the New Covenant through Christ Jesus and living IN that Covenant through Him as well. God bless |

204 | Does this include holding fast to His | Heb 4:14 | gracefull | 75439
Since healing was provided in and through the atonement, our confession of faith in Jesus finished work, slavation, healing, deliverance mean holding to the truth of the word of God through faith in Jesus finished work. He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement needful to obtain our peace was upon Him and by His stripes we were healed. Read on through verse 15 and 16. Because we have this High Priest, let us fearlessly and boldly approach the throne of grace...As God Meditate in the truth of the word, and stand fast! God bless |

205 | Operate on faith or endure? | Heb 11:1 | gracefull | 66808
no one can tell you what God is wanting you to do unless they operate in one of the gifts and God gives them a word for you. Faith in God is not blind faith. God desires us to know His will for our lives and through the Holy Spirit and His word gives us guidance. Seek God in prayer asking Him to reveal His will to you and wait for Him to show you. The faith in Hebrews 11 and what Charles Stanley is talking about is faith in God to carry you through adversity to His fulfilled purpose. We do not ADD God to our will but we find God's will and believe God because He said so. Sometimes faith inGod's direction leads us OUT of a situation and sometimes we must have faith in God through the situation. In my personal testimony I experienced both of these on my last job. Early in my job I was told by God to put my faith in Him while being harrassed by a convicted supervisor..I saw God work miracles through that, then 12 years later God severed my 'heart' ties with that job and I was led away. Seek God in prayer and listen for His still small voice. Apply your faith to His promise that He will hear your prayer and answer. Isaiah 30:21 Psalm 32:8 The Holy Spirit has been given to lead you.But He will not drag us, nor will He restrain us..our will must be surrendered. Remember, faith is not blind, it is applied to God's word and His will as revealed to your spirit by His Spirit. HUGE difference God bless |

206 | hebrews 11 honor roll of O.T.? | Heb 11:1 | gracefull | 66818
Yes, these all died in faith 'having not received the promise'. These were extroadinary in that they believed God against all hope and never let go. They were not extroadinary in their 'holiness'. All these men failed God and sinned. Some committed adultery, some murder, some both... But what they had in common was they believed God's promise made to Abraham. But we can't stop there and say "wow those men were so great and I cannot even imagine being in their league". These are listed here as EXAMPLES of Godly faith (not a mere history lesson or to exalt them). God having provided SOME BETTER THING FOR US. Chapter 12 continues this discourse Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of WITNESSES, let US lay aside every weight and the sin that doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author AND the finisher of our faith. These are witnesses to the faithfulness of God when we place and hold faith in God's Word. Notice it says 'author'? Faith comes by HEARING and HEARING by the word of God. In the beginning was the Wrod, the Word was with God and the Word was God..and by the Word was all things created. Be encouraged AND challenged by Hebrews 11 to be all God has called you to be! In Jesus |

207 | What does God's correction look like | Heb 12:6 | gracefull | 88710
No, my friend. Sickness and desease are a result of the curse of sin. God chastens His children by His Word and the conviction of the Holy Spirit. When we disobey the Word of God and the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we 'reap' the harvest of the seed we sow. Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Jesus provided for us peace with God, and deliverance from the kingdom of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of God. Jesus bore the punishment for our sins on the cross. He HImself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, and REDEEMED us from the curse of the law of sin and death. Sickness and poverty fal under the curse. God bless |

208 | to understand meaning | Heb 12:12 | gracefull | 80576
Have you ever been convicted by the Holy Spirit which brought a sense of weakness to your soul? A grieved weariness? Paul is saying to stand up and move on now. See verse 5...do not give up and become discouraged, but be encouraged..because your Father loves you and disciplined you for your good! read some of the Psalms... Does that help? God bless |

209 | confusion with Acts 5:1 | Heb 13:8 | gracefull | 89147
Hi Dan, Our culture does not respond well to prompt and strong punishment. We are raised in such a way as to be passive and tolerant of sin. But God is the holy God! These two deliberately lied to the Holy Spirit of God! Let me challenge you as a new believer not to judge the Word based on what you think or believe, but rather ask God to open your eyes to see Him as He is. Do you wonder why people are not falling dead this way today? Has God changed? No, I believe it is the same reason we are not seeing the miracles in abundance as in the early church...we as children of God have departed from holiness and God has withdrawn His Presence. Not totally, but enough as to keep us from all falling dead in our unholy treatment of that which is holy. So when you read that these two died instantly for lying to the Holy Spirit, a sense of the need to humble ourselves before God should be our response. Read Exodus about the holiness of the presence of God and how God could only reveal Himself in small portions and behind the vail. |

210 | How to find Hope? | James 1:1 | gracefull | 70224
Your answer is in the same text...Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, KNOWING(my emphasis) that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have it's perfect result(complete), so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. But if any of you lacks wisdom let him ask of God, who gives generously and without reporach, and it will be given to him. The way to have joy during a trial is to have the KNOWLEDGE that this trial or test of your faith is going to mature you and ineveitably make you complete lacking nothing. Ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten you to the joy of looking to that goal! It is a revelation of God's love for you as His child. The Joyful expectation of the goal held Jesus to the cross. Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Joy sees only the goal. |

211 | Sure of a solid foundation in Christ? | James 1:21 | gracefull | 71729
The first place to check is to return to the spiritual alter they first came to Jesus at and examine that in light of scripture...Was my new birth genuine. 1. Do I know the Spirit of God was convicting me of my sins. 2. Did I repent? 3. Did the peace of God come? Along with the desire to let Jesus be Lord and turn from my old life to a new one? If the answer is no, this would be the place to start. But if the answer is yes....look on. Each of us hit 'spiritual crisis' points in our walk. This is one I hit and the scripture the Lord led me to was this: James 1:21-23 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deeds. Also see...Luke 6:47-49 When we study the Bible and become theologically correct, we fool ourselves into believing that we are wise. The word of God is LIVING and SPIRITUAL. We are to BECOME the word as the Holy Spirit reveals and transforms us into the image of Christ. If this is not happening we may be born again but empty. The relationship we are born into has not been developed. Prayer time seeking fellowship with God's Spirit with and through the REVEALED (not taught) word. Hebrew 8:11 And they shall not teach everyman his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. When we put our confidence in and learn from man, we only learn that man's understanding, or hear that man's revelation, but we are to seek our own. The Holy Spirit teaches each of us personally, and human teachers only point in that direction. 1John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. Teachers are called of God, no doubt, but they can only teach what they have learned from the Holy Spirit and/or Bible study. They can only teach their revelation, giving us a sense of direction to 'look for truth'. We must seek that personal revelation for ourselves, because until we receive and DO that from the Holy Spirit, we are not CHANGED. One must have the courage to move from religion to relationship which is to move from carnal to spiritual. If we are willing and seek God fervently in prayer and commit to do whatever He reveals to us, He will begin to direct your life into one of purpose, His purpose. God Bless |

212 | Christians? | James 1:22 | gracefull | 85188
If I may add a scripture that is on the subject but offers a little different perspective. Romans 2:1-5 Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things. 3 But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His (6) kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 1 Corinthians 4:2-5 2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. 4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. 4 For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted; but the one who examines me is the Lord. 5 Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts; and then each man's praise will come to him from God. I have found myself asking this question concerning others and found that my own heart condemned me for I was envious of evil doers because they were 'getting away with' their disobedience. I found myself convicted of things others were seemingly not convicted of and resented that. And have wanted the one who sinned against me to be punished! Only God knows the heart of a person and what is in the heart is what matters to God. We must be very careful not to observe outward appearances and passing 'heart judgements'. God bless |

213 | Church is kidnapped to Sodom! | James 2:8 | gracefull | 75031
I see. As one post pointed out, there are no perfect churches because there are no perfect people. How was this resolved? Was the pastor disciplined? Did he repent before the congregation and accept full responsibility? Did he respond to being disciplined(if he was)? |

214 | How about the other kind of tongues? | James 3:5 | gracefull | 74308
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The spoken word of God (not simply quoting scripture but the word/heart of God) sent forth produces life. The opposite of Godly words are Satanic(vain unGodly) words which work death. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. I believe that as our minds are renewed by God' s word and our hearts are changed we will begin to speak Godly words that produce life. Until then we should practice silence, and repentance for those we speak in error. This takes a powerful committment that God's word must be final authority over all we think, believe, and do. John 6:62-64 Our words are spirit, not mere physical sounds. They communicate the condition of our spirit, therefore we must pay close attention to what we are saying, not merely keep silent. They are symptoms of the illness of the heart, not the illness. Proverbs 18:20-21 A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the iincrease of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. God bless |

215 | What causes a holier than thou attitude? | James 4:4 | gracefull | 84513
Hi mommapbs: "However I struggle a bit with the directive you suggest that I "reproove their deeds by my lifestyle." " I appreciate the message as believers do often demonstrate this unholy attitude. But I do not believe it comes from living a holy lifestyle, but rather an attitude of legalism and comparing themselves with others. Often when believers will not participate in unholy behaviour, they are accused of having a 'holier than thou' attitude when in reality they are just being obedient and faithful. The prideful heart causes this attitude, but most believers are not operating in pride even though they may be accused of doing so. Ephesians 5:11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; Our lifestyle of holiness will cause conviction by revealing God's true will to the lost or disobedinet believers. I personally believe this accusation comes from disobedient believers than from the lost world. God bless |

216 | Did Jesus go to hell? | 1 Peter | gracefull | 80326
faith-dude..do a word search and you will find a wealth of information. Due to the sensitive naure of this subject I wll not go into it again at this point. I would point out that the teaching is not unscriptural but is contrary to 'orthodox doctrine' which should not matter if scriptural truth is more important to you than 'orthodox doctrine'. I am not anti-orthodox but I do not believe believers are to follow orthodox teaching blindly and not search the scriptures for themselves. The Holy Spirit has been given to each of us to teach us truth. Secondly: The doctrine that Jesus went to hell (died spiritually or experienced the same 'seperation from God' that a sinner would have experienced) should not be strange and it in no way even implies Jesus was not divine. If nothing else it confirms his divinity! And those I have heard that teach and believe this acknowledge the divinity of Jesus Christ the Messiah totally. These teachers also consider scripture final authority rather than the 'common interpretation of scripture'. Also study, alongside this study, the power and necessity of the ressurection. See www.studybibleforum.com There is a lengthy and indepth APOLOGETIC on this subject. Do the search and prayerfully ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. God bless |

217 | How about Deut33:7? | 1 Pet 2:24 | gracefull | 82539
imf: As Ed said, there were many at the pool... and only one was healed, but I do not agree with his conclusion that the reason only one was healed was because it was not God's will to heal the others. But rather that man's lack of faith to receive healing because of his opposing belief that that it is not God's will to heal everyone. Though these scriptures do not specificaly state that unbelief was present, scripture does tell us that unbelief prevented Jesus from performing miracles, and no where in scripture does Jesus or the apostles teach that sickness and desease are God's will in some cases, and scripture does not record a single case where Jesus crefused to heal anyone who asked Him. Jesus acredits healing to faith..not faith in faith but faith that God is both willing AND able to heal them. Everyting we receive from God must come through this kind of faith...TRUE BELIEVING FROM THE HEART. If the belief of the hear is divided between 'yes it is God's will to heal' and 'but I do not believe it is His will to heal everyone' then we waver between the two and Satan the liar can create havoc in our minds with such lies as, 'you don't deserve healing'. Of course not! God does not heal us because of our own righteousness any more than He saves us because of our own righteousness! It is because of Jesus! "According to you faith be it unto you". "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" "I am willing". "Jesus could do no great works there, save healing a few sick folk, because of their unbelief." Jesus also reprimanded for lack of faith but not as one condemning, but rather as one saying 'here is where you are falling short...work on it!' "Faith 'comes' by hearing and hearing by the Word of God". Faith comes through hearing with the physical ears? Or is it rather by having our spiritual ears open and the Word entering our spirit? Faith is BELIEVING with the heart and when the faith of the heart mixes with God's Word...miracles happen! The new birth is a PERFECT example, as it is the first miracle in the believers life produced by Faith in God's Word concerning Jesus the Christ. Psalm 119:130 "The entrance of Thy word brings light". God bless |

218 | John15:18-25 | 1 Pet 3:15 | gracefull | 76774
Since the goal is to draw them from the authority of Satan, we should be examples of God's grace. We need to show them the way out, not go in with them. We are 'scattering seed' God gives the increase. What seed? the truth of God's Word in both our words and our actions. God is searching for those who want out of the world's bondage. This does not mean isolating ourselves, because we could not be a witness that way, but we are not to conform to their way of thinking and acting. We are to demonstrate Jesus in all our affairs. God bless |

220 | What are "Sacraments" | 2 Pet 1:4 | gracefull | 85776
Good question, "what we ingest in the supernatural?" YES I believe the answer is threefold... Point One: It is impossible to partake of the divine nature if one is not born again. This is the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit. John 3:3,6 3.Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Point two: We as believers have a new born spirit supernaturally provided through the new birth and have also been given all the tools we need to partake in this divine nature. These are supernatural...We can't KNOW Him except He show Himself to us by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:2-4 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Point three: We have a responsibility in this process without which we will not develop as we should. We are CHANGED AS WE GO. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. James 1:21-23 21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted Word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: To partake in the divine nature only requires us believing and doing His Word, and the transforming is the work of the Holy Spirit. God bless |
