101 | Why little sign of power in our churches | Mark 16:17 | gracefull | 92745
Gabriel, Everlearning's observations are excellent in my opinion. May I add.... We need to direct this question to God in sincere, determined prayer asking Him to, "Begin with me. Begin the conviction with me, begin the grieving intercession with me"...When we leave the comfort, turn off the TV, turn off the socializing, push back from the table, arise early, go to bed late, lay aside the commentaries and study books, and get alone with God and His Word and His Spirit. Acts 4:12-14 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. 13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. 14 And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. 102 | is fasting for today? | Luke 5:33 | gracefull | 80123
"i am confused no one is teaching it except the pentecostals" I am sure by the word pentecostals you mean full gospel believers who believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as seperate from the work of the Holy spirit at the new birth and who believe in the present working of the Holy spirit in the charisma gifts...(all, if not most, are not members of the Pentecostal denomination) "is fasting still for today? or Jesus never meant to let believers fast?" Jesus infered that after He, the bridegroom, was gone, fasting would be appropriate. "But the days will come; and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days." Paul fasting while waiting for Annanias to come and lay hands on him to receive his sight and the Holy Spirit. Acts 9:8-9, 17 Isaiah 58 is an excellent chapter to study what God considers an acceptable fast, because simply depriving ones self of something is simply deprivation. (Isaiah 58:1-5 is unacceptable) When one fasts-food, social activities, entertainments, anything- it must be replaced with some form of worship. It is an excellent way to break physical and mental bondages in one's life. Surrender tohse things that hinder and look to the Holy Sirit and the Word for the deliverance. (a time of pruning) Isaiah 58:6-7 IE-a time to seek the Lord's guidance through His word and by His Spirit. Isaiah 58:8-12 describes the rewards of the acceptable fast. God bless |

103 | Luke 9:27 | Luke 9:27 | gracefull | 78785
Hi Ngop, As I read your post this scripture came to mind. James 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your own lusts that war in your members? If each believer was perfectly Spirit led and had a perfectly renewed mind to the Truth as presented in scripture and revealed by the Holy Spirit, the kingdom of God would be what it should be. There would be no disagreements and divisions among us. So the kingdom of God is not imperfect, us human members are imperfect and do not always reflect a correct image of the kingdom of God. And will not until 'that which is perfect has come and we see not through the glass darkly but clearly having ALL darkness revealed.(When we are face to face with Jesus.) God bless |

104 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | gracefull | 64974
I would like to reccomend a website that has some excellent and indepth apologetics..one of which deals with this question. www.evangelizeamerica.org Click on Apologetics and scroll down to "Did Jesus Die Spiritually". Let me ask some question? Did Jesus take upon Himself the sins of all mankind (past, present, and future)? Did Jesus tell the disciples "Touch me not for I have not yet ascended to my Father.."?John 20:17 Was physical death the only penalty for the sin of Adam or did he die spiritually? If he died spiritually then why would God only require physical death of Jesus? If physical death was the only penalty, we would all pay that upon our own physical deaths. Was the powerful resurrection of Jusus the firstborn spiritual ressurection? 1 Collosians 12-18 Just points to ponder. We often do not step back and observe the overview message of the Old and New Testament (the single thread weaving throughout). Adam fell and died spiritually and the blood af animals only gave them a point of reference looking forward to Jesus by faith, who would bring about the spiritual rebirth of the dead. I believe this apologetic will be very helpul because there are many scripture references. God bless |

105 | getting started over again | John | gracefull | 78832
Absolutely not. It means you stopped growing and your relationship with the Lord deteriorated. Romans 11:29 The gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Repent and return to your first love. I suggest you begin again in John and reafirm your personal relationship with the lord Jesus Christ through His blood so Satan can't torment you with the question of your salvation. Then after settling that, you and the Holy Spirit can move forward into what God has planned for you. Recommit yourself to prayer and the Word. Repentance must be genuine for your committment to hold. God bless |

107 | "Word of God" - always written word? | John 1:14 | gracefull | 86871
1.The preached word was called the 'word of God' by Paul. 2. Paul says that when you heard it you did not receive it as words of men but rather the word of God. 3.The PROOF that is is the word of God is in the final statement.."performs it's work in you who believe. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe. Hebrews 9:1-3 Tells us that if we enter His rest by receiving the preached word by faith. 1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. Faith that the Bible has been protected by God and retained it's Spirit breathed quality can only be tested and proved by a believer willing to take it at the Word and stand by faith in what it says. Thus it becomes the living Word in and through us when it reveals to the world the will of God. Romans 12:2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may PROVE what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. God bless |

108 | Non-denominational theology? | John 3:16 | gracefull | 65001
Denomination-Has 'governing head' over more than one local body. Non-deniminational are independent with their governing body within. As Ed said theology varies from church to church. Make sure of the basic foundational truth. Jesus the Christ, the only atonement for sin and the only way to the Father, and the Bible is the Holy Spirit breathed word of God and all doctrine must be derived from it. |

109 | Why are we our brother's keeper? | John 3:16 | gracefull | 81875
1 Corinthians 8 (I should not do anything that would offend a weak brother or sister simply because I have the liberty to do so. Love dictates I forbear for their sake.) 1 Corinthians 13 Romans 12:2 We as believers have been called to reveal Christ to the world, to walk in His love... But scripture does not specifically say we are our 'brother's keeper'. It teaches we are to love each other as He loved us. See 1 Corinthians 8 Our actions toward our brothers and sisters in Christ' and the lost world as well, should be the demonstration of the love of God real in our life, not a 'chore'. If our love is not there we should spend more time with the Lord in prayer and the Word until God's love is our motivator. God bless |

110 | Why can God can love the world, not us? | John 3:16 | gracefull | 86498
We are not to love the world as in desiring to be like the world, but we are to love 'As He loves'. Ephesians 5:1-2 1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Our carnal nature wars with our reborn spirit and the Holy Spirit, seeking it's own will and desires. As our flesh or carnal nature is brought under subjection to the spirit, God's love can manifest through us in place of the self seeking old nature. Then we begin to love as HE loved. Galatians 5: "17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 111 | Heaven or Hell? | John 3:16 | gracefull | 87118
Hello akeffer82, I would only add one point to Joseph3's excelent response! Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Our heart filled with the love of God should respond to this outcry..."Lord send me or let me help someone you are sending!" God bless |

112 | Question of God | John 3:18 | gracefull | 69636
Your love and fire for God is refreshing! So glad to have you in the family! "How could God allow such destruction to go on?" At the risk of oversimplifying this, read John 3:18-20 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds be reproved. It is difficult to accept that to reject God is the ultimate evil because God is the ultimate good. We learn as we mature in the Lord to realize God's understanding of evil and ours differs greatly, and there is a great punishment coming. God is 'restraining' Himself to give opportunity, but when the wicked become so intolerable and come against Israel, He will unleash His wrath. Read 2 Thess.2 As for staying behind after the rapture to witness, there will be ample witness when the church is raptured. The rapture itself will be a great witness. The ones who turn will be saved. |

113 | What shall I do? | John 4:7 | gracefull | 74875
Jesus was speaking to a 'sinner' and not an unrepentant brother, which is what Paul is addressing here. The church was tolerating sin, thereby sending the message that sin is OK to new believers as well as encouraging the one in sin to remain there. An un repentent brother or sister loves to find another brother or sister to make them 'feel' OK and ease the pressure of conviction. This is sometimes very hard, but the goal is more important than the temporary discomfort. Paul state that to disassociate with sinners, we would have to leave this world, besides, sinners need to associate with believers to see Christ in them. |

114 | Can excommunion work? | John 4:7 | gracefull | 74973
God disassociating Himself from Jesus is unapplicable here. Jesus was righteous and sinless bearing the sins of the world, not personal sin. Here again, one can't use this in reference to the subject at hand. A believing brother or sister who continues to come to church and continues in their sin openly is 'leaven'. They are positioning themselves to be stumbling blocks for others. Let's take a step back..A brother who is practicing sin, has been shown in scripture where this sin is clearly defined, and chooses to continue in that sin, one should seperate from them until they repent. "To what extent should I discomfort him?" This is about the Holy Spirit discomforting him to the point of repentence. You seem to be placing this in the category of punishment. This is NOT the case. The seperation is to protect yourself from the leaven of sin, and allow the Holy Spirit to convict. May I ask what is prompting this? Some general scenero so we can address this more accurately? Is this a 'church leadership' addressed situation or a personal relationship situation? Paul is speaking to the process of discipline within the church body. Has that taken place? If so, I recomend you speak with your pastor. God bless |

115 | Who is the true worshipper? | John 4:23 | gracefull | 74333
The scripture in John 14:6 could also be paraphrased that no one enters the Kingdom of God through the new birth except through receiving Jesus Christ as saviour. At the point of the new birth we become sons and are both able and responsible for worship. Odviously though the scripture in John 4 states worshpers (plural) so odviously more can worship the Father. The real question one should ask about John 4:23 is what does it mean to worship in spirit and in truth. Consider these scriptures when and compare to the statement 'spirit and truth'. John 14:17 Spirit of truth is the Holy Spirit. John 15:26 " " " " " " " John 16:12-14 Spirit of truth will guide you INTO all truth. Ephesians 1:13 The word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. We as believers are to walk in the spirit which means we are to live in accordance with God's word. This is worship! To obey and follow the Holy spirit dilignetly with a willing and loving heart! To pursue our relationship with our Father with our whole being. This is worship... Does this answer your question? God bless |

116 | How God feels about praise | John 4:24 | gracefull | 71173
Another good verse to remember is 1 Samuel 16:7 Worship or praise are both matters of the heart. When God is displeased with our praise or worship when it is covering up an impure heart. He loves it when it is from a pure heart. |

117 | Are you being put to the test? | John 6:6 | gracefull | 73837
When faced with a situation in life, what is our first response? Do we look for all the carnal or worldly solutions first or do we look to God first? Most of us exhaust our own resources first then turn to God as the last resort. Matthew 6:24-33 Phil. 4:5-7 |

118 | Have you chosen this king? 1Sam 12:13 | John 6:15 | gracefull | 80552
Hi Ray, John 6:15, 18:37, 1 Samuel 12:12 For me these scriptures reveal an aspcet of mans carnal nature...(to tke the road of least resistence even if it is not the best road) Israel had God leading and reigning over them Himself, but this required the people to be involved in their salvation, to conciously make decisions regarding God's commands. They wanted a king to do their thinking and decision making for them. When we do this, our personal relationship with God deminishes, but our accountability does not. In relationship with Luke 19:10 Zachias repented and obeyed the conviction of his heart...He thus made Jesus King in his heart..? What comes to mind is Galatians 4:9 Man chooses the weak and carnal things over the deeper more 'heart exposing' things of the Spirit that actually place Jesus on the throne of our heart in our daily lives. God bless, |

119 | Why does Psalm 82:6 say we are gods? | John 10:34 | gracefull | 75350
Man is the only created being created in the image and likeness of God. God is a Spirit and we are spirit beings. We are . We are triune beings. Spirit, with a soul and live in a body. Now from the Mormon perspective I may be wrong but I believe they think they are 'evolving?' due to their 'good works?'Purhaps someone else here is more knowledgeable on that religion. Gd bless, |

120 | Gal 2:20 Did you not know you died? | John 12:24 | gracefull | 88352
Romans 6:10-12 10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. This tells us that we have the ability through our regenerated spirit to overcome sin. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Simply as childre of God we have been regenerated and thus empowered by the Spirit of God to be transformed into the image and likeness..photograph..of Jesus Christ and present a clear image of Christ to a lost and dying world... God bless |
