41 | Israel's Greatest King | John 19:21 | gracefull | 89733
Hello Desiree, No, the Jews did not accept Him as their king. They used this claim as an accusation against him saying 'We have not king but Caesar."John 19:12-15 John 19:21 Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. 42 | "fear of finding truth"? | Rom 14:12 | gracefull | 89640
Ed explained well how this fits in the subject though he did not use the word fear...fear comes when we know we are in sin and the presence of the HOLY GOD is odviously near...Adam and Eve hid from 'fear'. Fear, other than the reverence for things HOLY, ie..fear of man, fear of bodily harm, fear of rejection, fear of making a mistake, can paralyze us to the point of being blind spiritually. But if one sits under the Word and reads the Word and prays, God will challenge the fearful by revealing the fear and by revealing His promise to be our strength in weakness and to be faithful always and to 'FEAR NOT'. Then it becomes 'choice', disobedience. All are not fearful of finding the truth, some who are fearful when they find the truth...RUN TO FREEDOM! God bless |

43 | Is not God inside of each of us? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 89483
Hello with faith i walk, Welcome, Our beliefs are our personal revelations. Personal experience is not a reliable guage for TRUTH. Jesus said "My Word is Truth". Experience confirmed by the Word of Truth is reliable. We are a very diverse group here on the forum...many different beliefs. Though occasionally one of us will share a personal experience, our personal experience is not likely to 'change' anyones beliefs. And in reality, neither does debating scripture it would seem. But if we share both, purhaps someone will go away with a seed planted that will change our belief and change our life. The Holy Spirit is the 'illuminator'. God bless |

45 | Are we Stupid or Lazy? Our Soul at stak | Rom 14:12 | gracefull | 89358
Hi George, I tend to believe it goes deeper than either of the above, and can be traced back much further than today. 1 Samuel 8:5-7 is a perfect example. 5 And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. 6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. 7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. Israel 'wanted to be like the other nations.' They rejected the personal relationship God had with them for a king. Secondly, men craving personal power and glory have always used this odvious flaw by in the human character to woe them to let these men of power to 'tell them what to do'. The Pharasees were the ones with the. John 11:41 48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. People have always sought out leaders to communicated to God for them, to tell them how they should act...just as long as they do not have to 'enter' the presence of God themselves. And some come to realize they can,and they desire to do so and then they break free. God bless |

46 | What does Denial and True Discipliship? | Rom 8:18 | gracefull | 89228
PS BUT......PAUL ALSO SAID AND I CONCUR.. 16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with JOY UNSPEAKABLE and full of glory: 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 47 | What does Denial and True Discipliship? | Gal 2:20 | gracefull | 89225
Hello mercy@grace2u, The price of discipleship is anything we have to let go of/or do to obey the instruction and guidance of the Word of God and the holy Spirit Death to our self. The surrender of our dreams for His dreams, our plans for His plans, our goals for His goals. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 2 Timothy 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; As believers we should also not e surprised when persecutions arise. Jesus was persecuted and falsely accused..and we must be prepared to suffer likewise. The world hates what opposes it's sinful ways. If we are light and salt, the world will hate us. Matthew 10:37 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Sometimes when the Holy Spirit begins to lead us, we wil find we are going in the oosite direction of people we love. We must continue the walk the Holy Spirit leads us in regardless of the pressure to turn and conform. God bless |

49 | confusion with Acts 5:1 | Heb 13:8 | gracefull | 89147
Hi Dan, Our culture does not respond well to prompt and strong punishment. We are raised in such a way as to be passive and tolerant of sin. But God is the holy God! These two deliberately lied to the Holy Spirit of God! Let me challenge you as a new believer not to judge the Word based on what you think or believe, but rather ask God to open your eyes to see Him as He is. Do you wonder why people are not falling dead this way today? Has God changed? No, I believe it is the same reason we are not seeing the miracles in abundance as in the early church...we as children of God have departed from holiness and God has withdrawn His Presence. Not totally, but enough as to keep us from all falling dead in our unholy treatment of that which is holy. So when you read that these two died instantly for lying to the Holy Spirit, a sense of the need to humble ourselves before God should be our response. Read Exodus about the holiness of the presence of God and how God could only reveal Himself in small portions and behind the vail. |

50 | Women whosay "God called me to pastor | 1 Tim 2:12 | gracefull | 89146
cherrilee, Go into quick search and read the various threads. There is much said on the subject. I believe the best comment I would make to you would be to let love rule in your relationshp. Each time you are troubled in your mind and heart, pray the prayer in Clossians 1 for your friend in faith believing, doubt not. The call and the annointing to teach is acceptable for a woman in most church bodies. So I question the interpretation of a woman should not teach nor usurp authority 1 Timothy 2:12. The term usurp authorty means to take by force or without legal right. This does not mean a woman does not or can not have the legal right, but she should not usurp the authority God has placed over her(husband first, then pastor). God will not bless a spirit of rebellion in a woman or a man. We as children of God are expected to recognize and submit to the authority God has chosen to place over us. My suggeston to you is to not allow the enemy to place a wedge betwen you and als to alw the Holy Spirit to closely examine your own heart in the matter. Acts 5:38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: 39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. 51 | A Private Hot Line to God? | Ps 119:105 | gracefull | 89055
Radioman, I have a question.. Gregory Koukl said: "'Note that I have a very robust doctrine of the Holy Spirit. I'm charismatic in that I believe in the perpetuity of spiritual gifts and in energetic worship. The real question is-- and this is vital-- Are we justified in claiming that our personal, private, first-person, subjective experiences give us authoritative knowledge about God, or about what God wants us to do?" Scripture speaks in regard to Spiritual gifts: 1 Corinthians 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: The gift of the word of knowledge is a revelatory gift. It is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit (God) speaking to somenone revealing something to them regarding someone or some situation. Also the gift of prophesy is a revelatory gift which is to 'reveal' a word or message from God. The gift of 'interpretation' is also revelatory. If we believe the gifts are still active today in the body of Christ, then what do you suppose Gregory Koukl meant when he concluded with,"'My answer is nowhere does the Bible give us that liberty. It does not enjoin us to assess our feelings and then judge whether they are a manifestation of the voice of God or not.'" I believe he is attempting to warn us to not be led by feelings, but the fact is believers are constantly learning to discern the voice of the Holy Spirit. And since Jesus used the word 'voice' when He said, "My sheep shall know(recognize) My voice.." Scripture does indeed tell us to obey the Spirit and if the Spirit says speak, we must speak and acknowledge it is from God. Gregory asks, "The real question is-- and this is vital-- Are we justified in claiming that our personal, private, first-person, subjective experiences give us authoritative knowledge about God, or about what God wants us to do? My response, We are justified to make this claim if the Holy Spirit has directed us. In light of Romans 8 verse 14 we the SONS are led by the Spirit. I would say that this scripture alone gives the sons of God the justification to say "God spoke to me and directed me to..." or "God is leading me to do...". To anyone who knows they have 'heard' the word 'spoke' is an accurate description. Romans 8:14 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. KJV 14 14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. NAS The prophesy, the word of knowledge, any word from God to a believer must be subject to SCRIPTURE. Anyone who says otherwise is either very young in the Lord (and the Lord will discipline His own)or an emmisary from Satan sent to sow discord and deception in the body of Christ. God bless God bless |

52 | special revelation vs general revelation | Ps 19:1 | gracefull | 89030
Mel, I agree with Micodemus in part. Psalm 19:1 is speaking of natural knowledge. How can one not observe the magnificance of God's creation and not come to the realization (mental assent) that there is a creator, God. Spiritual revelation is the Spirit(God's) to our spirit, thus revealing to us the NATURE and WILL of God. Has the Holy Spirit ceased to give revelation? The theory is that once the New Testament was written, there was no longer any need for revelaton. I see that scripture makes no such distinction. As a matter of fact, the Old Covenant belivers for the most part operated without divine revelation, relying on the the law to teach them 'about' God. Hebrews 8:10 speaks of the difference between the Old Covenant believers and the New Covenant believers. "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:" Joel prophesied of this time when God's Spirit would be available to all rather than a few who God chose to reveal His will through. Acts 2:15-21 15 For these men are not drunk, as you imagine, for it is [only] the third hour (about 9:00 a.m.) of the day; 16 But [instead] this is [the beginning of] what was spoken through the prophet Joel: 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon ALL MANKIND, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels] and your young men shall see visions (divinely granted appearances), and your old men shall dream [divinely suggested] dreams. 18 Yes, and on My menservants also and on My maidservants in those days I will pour out of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels and [predicting future events pertaining especially to God's kingdom]. 19 And I will show wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth beneath, blood and fire and smoking vapor; 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the obvious day of the Lord comes--that great and notable and conspicuous and renowned [day]. 21 And it shall be that whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord [invoking, adoring, and worshiping the Lord--Christ] shall be saved. Scripture tells us that without diine revelation man cannot KNOW God. It is divine revelation when the Holy Spirit reveals we are sinners in need of a savior. 1 Corinthians 2:10-16 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, SO THAT WE MAY KNOW THE THINGS FREELY GIVEN US BY GOD, 13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. 14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. 16 For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ. Indeed, revelation of spiritual things comes only by the Holy Spirit and is absolutely necessary to KNOW God. The continual revelation of Him by the Holy Spirit is how we are being continually transformed into His image. 2 Peter 1:2-4 2 Grace and peace be yours in full measure, as you come to a full KNOWLEDGE of God and Yeshua our Lord; 3 God's power has given us everything we need for life and godliness, through our KNOWING the One who called us to His glory and goodness. By these He has given us valuable and superlativly great promises, so that through them(promises) you might come to share in God's nature and escape the corruption which evil desires have brought upon the world. Revelation is the KNOWING that transforms us. Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. 'Special revelation' is spiritual revealing of God's heart to our heart, and will always agree with scripture. That is how we test the 'voice'. God bless |

53 | Is God hand so short that he cannot lead | Col 2:21 | gracefull | 88879
Tim, you are correct...this is a problem in some denominations and if not in the denomination it can be the culture of particular churches. I believe it is a 'control' problem and can be compared to over control of a parent to a child. It can be fear based or selfishness based, but neither is condusive to the developement of mature Holy Spirit reliant believers. God bless |

54 | Did God create evil? | Is 45:7 | gracefull | 88822
I have read some of this thread and ....I don't know why but this seems simple to me..... Sin is twisted or perverted good...love/hate, faith/fear life/death give/covet.. Romans tells us that had the LAW not come there would be no sin. Sin, which is evil, is to oppose God's laws. Adam and Eve were given one command..do not eat, and they acted evil by choosing to disobey. When free will is given inevitably someone or something (Satan and his angelic following) will choose to rebel. But had there been no law, and had there been no choice, there would be no evil...Evil was not created, Romans 7:6-8 6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. 7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. Anything that does not fulfill this commandment is sin. Matthew 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. God bless |

55 | Early arrival | Gen 19:1 | gracefull | 88802
God is merciful and goes to great lengths to give people the opportunity to repent. I believe they arrived early to give Sodom the opportunity to 1. repent or 2. Reject This also gave Lot the opportunity to choose..after all, he had remained in Sodom despite their great wickedness... Romans 2: 3 But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? |

56 | I wan to YEILD | 1 John 5:13 | gracefull | 88800
Lightman, I have read all the responses and Stella seems to come close to answering your post in the light of your true search. Most address the issue of assurance of salvation. If You will indulge me, I would like to now speak.... You said you asked Jesus into your heart..I am taking you at your word that you recognized by the presence of the Holy Spirit and the preached word that you were a sinner and repented asking Jesus to be your saviour. Correct? Now, assuming so I would like to go beyond to what I perceive to be the heart cry of your post. There comes a time in every believer's life when they desire to be more yielded to the spiritual truth of God's Word and not just the external service. Let me give you a few scriptures and if you desire to continue this discussion, let me know... John 1416 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 8:14-17 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. Inside your spirit is a cry that there is something more, and you have come to realize it is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I, too came to this place. After being a Christian for about 12 years, I KNEW something was missing...I did not doubt my salvation, but scripture challenged me to believe there was more to salvation than just deliverance from hell..the life of the early church was one of supernatural manifestations of God's Spirit through believers proving the will of God to be deliverance, healing, revelation through them. If you like, we can talk more... God bless |

57 | What does God's correction look like | Heb 12:6 | gracefull | 88710
No, my friend. Sickness and desease are a result of the curse of sin. God chastens His children by His Word and the conviction of the Holy Spirit. When we disobey the Word of God and the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we 'reap' the harvest of the seed we sow. Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Jesus provided for us peace with God, and deliverance from the kingdom of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of God. Jesus bore the punishment for our sins on the cross. He HImself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, and REDEEMED us from the curse of the law of sin and death. Sickness and poverty fal under the curse. God bless |

60 | Gal 2:20 Did you not know you died? | John 12:24 | gracefull | 88352
Romans 6:10-12 10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. This tells us that we have the ability through our regenerated spirit to overcome sin. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Simply as childre of God we have been regenerated and thus empowered by the Spirit of God to be transformed into the image and likeness..photograph..of Jesus Christ and present a clear image of Christ to a lost and dying world...
