161 | Church is kidnapped to Sodom! | James 2:8 | gracefull | 75031
I see. As one post pointed out, there are no perfect churches because there are no perfect people. How was this resolved? Was the pastor disciplined? Did he repent before the congregation and accept full responsibility? Did he respond to being disciplined(if he was)? |

162 | When is abortion right? | Ex 21:23 | gracefull | 74977
Psalm 139:15-16 My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth: Your eyes have seen my unformed substance: and in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them. This is the most beautiful statement from God through the Holy Spirit concerning the unborn. God knows each one intimately. How can God KNOW them if they are not human? Job 31:15 Job says God formed him in the womb God bless |

163 | Can excommunion work? | John 4:7 | gracefull | 74973
God disassociating Himself from Jesus is unapplicable here. Jesus was righteous and sinless bearing the sins of the world, not personal sin. Here again, one can't use this in reference to the subject at hand. A believing brother or sister who continues to come to church and continues in their sin openly is 'leaven'. They are positioning themselves to be stumbling blocks for others. Let's take a step back..A brother who is practicing sin, has been shown in scripture where this sin is clearly defined, and chooses to continue in that sin, one should seperate from them until they repent. "To what extent should I discomfort him?" This is about the Holy Spirit discomforting him to the point of repentence. You seem to be placing this in the category of punishment. This is NOT the case. The seperation is to protect yourself from the leaven of sin, and allow the Holy Spirit to convict. May I ask what is prompting this? Some general scenero so we can address this more accurately? Is this a 'church leadership' addressed situation or a personal relationship situation? Paul is speaking to the process of discipline within the church body. Has that taken place? If so, I recomend you speak with your pastor. God bless |

164 | I need verses on why we need God's Word. | NT general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74950
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God. Matthew 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and He cast out the devils with His word, and healed all that were sick: Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. God's words are Powerful- to pull down stongholds and bring deliverance. Enlightening-Bring spiritual light to drive out darkness Eternal-whereas everything in this earth is temperal. Superior- God's words should be our words because they are the only words worth speaking. God bless |

165 | John14:15-26 | Acts 8:14 | gracefull | 74949
Yes. Believers can be born again, their spirit regenerated by the Holy Spirit, while not stepping into the rhelm of the supernatural working of the Holy Spirit in and through them. Sadly many are taught to fear this precious gift by calling it a work of Satan. Some have been taught that they have received this fulness already but that the supernatural manifestations of the Holy Spirit ceased. Most Spirit filled believers can probably testify that they were first 'saved' or 'born again'. Then later came to the knowledge of the Holy Spirit indwelling them. I was a Christian for 12 years before I came to this knowledge. Acts 8:14-17 |

166 | Which is more important:Knowledge/action | NT general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74879
Circumstances are merely opportunities to apply God's word of truth. James chapter 2 Faith without works is dead.. If we have nothing to apply faith to, no challenge, we do not need faith. The word must be mixed with faith to produce anything so one would be led to believe that the Word is supposed to produce something. Hebrews 4:1-3 Hebrews 4:11-14 The word is quick...discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Summary. The Word of God is spiritual truth sent to 'do' something. Unless it is mixed with faith and acted upon, it is just words on a page. There are bible professors, I dare say, who do not know anything about the power of God because they study the word but are not doers of the Word. The Word is sent to change us, enable us, empower us to be victorious representatives and mirror images of Christ to the world. The purpose of the Word is to show the world (through applying it to circumstances) the love of God. |

167 | What shall I do? | John 4:7 | gracefull | 74875
Jesus was speaking to a 'sinner' and not an unrepentant brother, which is what Paul is addressing here. The church was tolerating sin, thereby sending the message that sin is OK to new believers as well as encouraging the one in sin to remain there. An un repentent brother or sister loves to find another brother or sister to make them 'feel' OK and ease the pressure of conviction. This is sometimes very hard, but the goal is more important than the temporary discomfort. Paul state that to disassociate with sinners, we would have to leave this world, besides, sinners need to associate with believers to see Christ in them. |

168 | what is spiritual bondage | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74853
The term 'spiritual bondage' is not in scripture. The closest thing I can find is Romans 8:14-16 For you have not received the spirit of fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Spritual bondage is when our spirit is bound or unable to advance in God's will. There can be physical or mental symptoms of that bondage. The reason I say symptoms is because Jesus has set us free from any bondage we can experience. The problem is, we are either unaware of that liberty or unwilling to walk in it. For the born again believer I believe spiritual bondage can be traced back to our beliefs. The Word says that He whom the son sets free is free indeed. The believer has been set free. But if unbelief due to a lack of knowledge of God's word is present, bondage can remain due to lack of knowledge. Hosea 5:7 An illustration can be my cat. We obtained a kitten at 4 weeks old. That kitten was never allowed out of the house. After she grew up (about 3 years old) we bought a house and she started sitting at the door looking out so we decided to let her out. When we first opened the door, she refused to go out. Why? She still BELIEVED she was bound. Our enemy Satan lies to us and tells us we are bound when in reality we are not. Remember, you are spirit, you have a sou, and you live in a body. Your born again spirit is SUPERIOR to your soul or your flesh, but it must be develeoped in truth, and you must choose to allow your spirit to lead by bringing your body, your mind and your emotions into submission to God's word of truth. God Bless |

169 | Internet to replace church? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74847
Russ, please forgive me if this interjection is inappropriate. I found in my life that when I become (relapse into) selfish having myself in mind and not others, it is easy for me to look to my comfort. ( Too tired for church, other things to do, ect. ) What drives me to go to church is the reality that as I matured in the Lord and realized He wanted me to be a vessel for service. This is in no way vanity. It is the sacrificial giving of yourself as a vessel of service for others. You are placed in that body for a reason and when you are not there, there is a void. When you read Corinthians about gifts, Paul says that each of us is called to in some way edify the body. When I was a child I thought the ultimate joy was receiving. When I grew up I discovered the ultimate JOY is giving! Go back walking through the door praying "God I am here to serve. Use me!" One more thing. I heard a sermon once and the pastor said to unclinch your hand and give God what he is asking for, and leave your hand open for His blessing in return. When we give because we love, we receive because HE loves. God bless |

170 | Law, Curses, Resurrection, Regeneration | Matt 5:18 | gracefull | 74743
1. Righteousness and justification are received by faith in the atonement of Jesus Christ, and not by the law. Romans 3:21,28 4:5.10-12 9:29 Galatians 2:16 3:11, 24 We are righteous and just before God through faith, not the law. The law pointed to Christ through the rituals and ordinances. It demonstrated or revealed to man the need of a saviour in that we could not fulfill the law perfectly and achieve righteousness through it. The circumcised and faithful Israel made the avenue for Jesus to come to earth. .. Deuteronomy 28:15-68 states the curses pronounced by God toward disobedience. Does disobedience still produce the curses in the life of the believer? Those who have not been born again are continually operating under the curse. But Jesus was made a curse for us, and redeemed us from the curse of the law of sin and death. I believe the reason many of us still walk in defeat and all of walk in defeat somewhere is because we allow it rather than God ordaining it. If I am righteous as Jesus is righteous, the curse has no place in my life. But by faith I must lay hold of this truth because my enemy Satan is constantly trying to steal my liberty. Any questions? Comments? I can't respond to #3 or #4 God bless |

171 | Governmental Authority? | Rom 13:1 | gracefull | 74406
Montag.. I suggest your answer is in verse one. God ordained the United States for His purpose. 'those which exist are established by God'. When you consider the USA consider the good which far outweighs the bad. This country has prospered to propigate the gospel worldwide. It is deterioriating because God and His word is being compromised. Remember one thing (from the heart and I believe I have the Spirit) the enemy is Satan and his demonic army. If you are unhappy with things here, begin to fast and pray. There is no other country in the world I would rather be. God bless |

172 | What are generation curses? | Ex 20:5 | gracefull | 74397
He whom the son sets free is free indeed...but we must learn to walk in that liberty and recognize the s working in our lives by a renewed mind to God's word. Often as new believers we still walk in the old 'training' and by doing this, the old 'results' follow. Many wonder why am I still so defeated? As one grows in their relationship with God through the Holy Spirit and the word, these 'curses' are recognized and the liberty is revealed and we walk free. Romans 12:2 |

173 | Who is the true worshipper? | John 4:23 | gracefull | 74333
The scripture in John 14:6 could also be paraphrased that no one enters the Kingdom of God through the new birth except through receiving Jesus Christ as saviour. At the point of the new birth we become sons and are both able and responsible for worship. Odviously though the scripture in John 4 states worshpers (plural) so odviously more can worship the Father. The real question one should ask about John 4:23 is what does it mean to worship in spirit and in truth. Consider these scriptures when and compare to the statement 'spirit and truth'. John 14:17 Spirit of truth is the Holy Spirit. John 15:26 " " " " " " " John 16:12-14 Spirit of truth will guide you INTO all truth. Ephesians 1:13 The word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. We as believers are to walk in the spirit which means we are to live in accordance with God's word. This is worship! To obey and follow the Holy spirit dilignetly with a willing and loving heart! To pursue our relationship with our Father with our whole being. This is worship... Does this answer your question? God bless |

174 | How about the other kind of tongues? | James 3:5 | gracefull | 74308
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The spoken word of God (not simply quoting scripture but the word/heart of God) sent forth produces life. The opposite of Godly words are Satanic(vain unGodly) words which work death. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. I believe that as our minds are renewed by God' s word and our hearts are changed we will begin to speak Godly words that produce life. Until then we should practice silence, and repentance for those we speak in error. This takes a powerful committment that God's word must be final authority over all we think, believe, and do. John 6:62-64 Our words are spirit, not mere physical sounds. They communicate the condition of our spirit, therefore we must pay close attention to what we are saying, not merely keep silent. They are symptoms of the illness of the heart, not the illness. Proverbs 18:20-21 A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the iincrease of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. God bless |

175 | Apostles, Prophets? An Office for Today? | 1 Cor 1:1 | gracefull | 74101
Now we are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, and after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, government, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles?are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? There is no indication here that these offices have ceased. Please not that apostles, prophets and teachers are in the same verse. If apostles ceased, did the calling of teacher as well? Also notice that miracles and gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues are also included in the list.... God bless |

Obstacles are sometimes from the enemy and sometimes they are road blocks God has placed to block a path we should not walk. The key is to put your trust in Him and ask Him to show you His way.Remember He loves you perfectly. If it is the enemy God will move him, if it is God, He has something better for you! Commit your works unto the Lord and He will establish your thoughts. Proverbs 16:2-4 |

1 John 1 Yes ianjon..Satan would have us believe he is all powerfull. We as believers have been given authority over him through Jesus Christ who has all authority given to him by the Father. But he is a cunning liar and we must learn to recognize him. The way to do that is to better know God. The better our relationship with Him is and the better we know Him, the more odvious Satan and his lying demons become! When we walk in the light of the truth of the Holy Spirit, the devil is revealed! God bless |
