601 | Should he biblicy or morally divorce me? | Matt 19:9 | azurelaw | 199221
Dear broken, Your user name can tell us that you have a broken heart. The scripture to offer is Mat 19:9. Please note that God hates divorce. In Moses time, divorce allowed for the Jews was due to their hardness of heart (Mat 19:8). If you and your husband still love each other, you should stay married. However, I am afraid your problem might not be dealt with properly on a study bible forum. I strongly urge you (both you and your husband) seek counselling from your pastor or some trustworthy and mature christians. If you still want to search something in concern with your topic, you may access to the below past posts and read those discussions along the threads. 219 451 4076 You just need to type the number on the search box at your upper right hand corner of the screen. My final note : Kneel before the Throne of God and devote yourselves together in prayers. Let God work in both your hearts. Shalom Azure |

605 | are there female amgels? | Matt 22:30 | azurelaw | 214363
Dear carlygrips, Welcome to the forum. Hope the below information is helpful for you. Shalom Azure ************ The Bible does not necessarily support the gender of angels being male or female. Whenever gender is specifically “assigned” to an angel in Scripture, it is male (Genesis 19:10-12; Revelation 7:2; 8:3; 10:7). However, this does not necessarily indicate that angels are male. Matthew 22:30 seems to indicate that angels are “sexless,” without gender: “At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.” If angels do not procreate, there is no need for gender, at least not in the sense of human gender distinctions. In a similar manner, God always refers to Himself in masculine language, although God is neither male nor female. He just uses masculine language because it more adequately describes who He is and what He does, especially in the patriarchal cultures in which the Bible was written. If angels do have a gender, in some form, Scripture would indicate that they are predominately or universally male. It is more likely that angels are genderless, just as God is, and that masculine language is just used to describe them and their role in serving God. 606 | what does the Bible say about suicide? | Matt 22:37 | azurelaw | 209591
Dear stressedchristian, I hope you are not asking the question according to your own situation. Your username and brief user profile, nevertheless, could lead me to such association. The suicidal question such as "whether a believer will still go to heave if suicide" has been asked frequently on the forum. In reading this kind of question, I can't help but worry about the questioner's current mental/psychological state on one hand that he/she definitely needs to talk to a Christian expert on that field; on the other hand, it amazes me that the focus of the question is on "going to heaven" instead of considering "loving our Lord and glorifying Him". God cares us so much that our every hair has been counted and even gave His begotton Son (the perfect, holy and sinless One) to die for us, could a believer do anything that saddens our Lord's heart? Do you think suicide a behaviour that shows our love for God and glorify our Lord? Matt 22:37 And He said to him, "'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' Matt 22:38 "This is the great and foremost commandment. Matt 22:39 "The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' Shalom Azure |

610 | He owes it all | Matt 22:39 | azurelaw | 197080
Dear Grace, Thank you for the question. It touches my heart. I have nothing to give Him. I tend to avoid making promises like that at a specific time though I understand the Preacher Man just wanted to encourage believers to have a better focus or goal (perhaps). To me, not this Christmas nor any Christmas, but every single second should be Christ-centred. NOTHING is mine, thus I cannot give Him anything. How awesome is our Lord that He gives us this second greatest commandment on Mat 22:39 that He foreknows we can do nothing for him except through our love and care toward our neighbours. I have been serving in the choir for many years. In the past I thought I was serving God (what an erroneous thought it was), finally I realised that God does not need anyone to serve Him. I understand that our ministry at church provides us chances to receive the numerous blessings He pours onto us - we are not the givers but the receivers. Just a bit of my sharing. Shalom Azure |

613 | Is the rapture upon us. | Matt 24:36 | azurelaw | 210265
Dear Simply, Matt 24:36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. Matt 24:42 "Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. Matt 25:13 "Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour. 1 Thess 5:2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. 1 Thess 5:3 While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape. 1 Thess 5:4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; 1 Thess 5:5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; 1 Thess 5:6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be ALERT and SOBER. 1 Thess 5:7 For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night. 1 Thess 5:8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. 1 Pet 1:17 If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; Shalom Azure |

617 | 1PETER 1:2 | Matt 26:28 | azurelaw | 214113
Dear elhur, Welcome to the forum. I believe the below verses helpful to you. Matt 26:28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. John 6:53 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. 19 John 6:54 "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. Rom 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace Heb 9:11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation; Heb 9:12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. Heb 9:13 For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, Heb 9:14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 620 | who was in the tombs?Matt27:53 | Matt 27:52 | azurelaw | 202587
Dear vdanna, This verse has been dealt with in past posts (post number 102255 and the relevant thread). You may also check on the below link for helpful commentary. http://eword.gospelcom.net/comments/ However, I would also like to add my 2 cents to try a different approach to deal with the scripture. Each author of the Gospel Books has their own writing style and focus though most of their records are identical. For Matthew, one of the characteristics is his emphasis on the witness of 2 or more: 1/ calling of his disciples described in pairs of two (4:18-21, 10:1-4) 2/ parables employing the number of 2 (7:13-29 3/ the healing of 2 blind men (20:29-34), whereas Luke 18:35 and Mark 10:46-52 only mentioned one. 4/ witness of 2 or 3 (18:16-20) Now when we compare the passage recorded in the 3 books, I believe Matthew was trying to emphasize the witnessing of Christ being the Son of God. mat 27:51-54 And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many. NOW HE CENTURION, AND THOSE WHO WERE WITH HIM keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the THINGS that were happening, became very frightened and said, "Truly this was the Son of God!” mark 15:37-39 And Jesus uttered a loud cry, and breathed His last. And the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. When the CENTURION, who was standing right in front of Him, saw the way He breathed His last, he said, "Truly this man was the Son of God!” luke 23:44-48 It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour, because the sun was obscured; and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." Having said this, He breathed His last. Now when the CENTURION saw what had happened, he began praising God, saying, "Certainly this man was innocent.” And all the crowds who came together for this spectacle, when they observed what had happened, began to return, beating their breasts. Since the main target readers of Matthew were Jews, his mentioning of the raised bodies of the saints could serve a significant impact in convincing them about Jesus - the Son of God. We may also see another example: God talked to the people around when after Jesus being baptized. Mat 3:16-17 ... a voice out of the heavens said, "THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL-PLEASED.” God talked directly to Jesus in: Mark 1:10-11 ... "YOU ARE My beloved Son, in YOU I am well-pleased.” Luke 3:21-22 ..."YOU ARE My beloved Son, IN YOU I am well-pleased.” See the difference how Matthew's emphasis on witnessing. Shalom Azure |
