341 | land vomits out inhabitants? | Lev 18:25 | azurelaw | 199186
Dear Sharolyn, Welcome to the forum. "the land vomits..." should not be treated in its literal sense but rather an analogy as per John Gill's explanation: "Verse 25. And the land is defiled,.... The inhabitants of it, with the immoralities and idolatries before mentioned: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it; or punish the inhabitants that are on it for their sins: and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants; as a stomach loaded with corrupt and bad food it has taken in, nauseates it, and cannot bear and retain it, but casts it up, and never receives it again; so the land of Canaan is represented as loathing its inhabitants, and as having an aversion to them, and indignation against them, and as not being able to bear them, but entirely willing to be rid of them and throw them out of their places in it, never to be admitted more, being as nauseous and as useless as the cast of a man's stomach; see Revelation 3:16." Hope it helps. Shalom Azure |

342 | land vomits out inhabitants? | Lev 18:25 | azurelaw | 199187
Hi Sharolyn, In addition to my previous post, I would like to you go backward to the beginning of Chapter 18 and re-read the whole chapter. In v3, God earnestly warns the Israelites not to follow the wicked deeds (as laid out in the succeeding verses) of Egyptians' and the Canaanites' (their land is going to be taken over by the Israelite). The Canaanites have defiled the land. The land vomits out its inhabitants (the Canaanites) should be understood as God's punishment toward the Canaanites (being cast out, destroyed or exterminated) by Israelite taking over the place as their promise land. Such punishment also applies to Israelite should they follow the evil deeds of the gentiles. Shalom Azure |

349 | what was moses greatest achivement | Num 12:3 | azurelaw | 229038
Dear sarge5, I think number 12:3 is what should be Moses' greatest achievement as this is a direct commend on him in the scriptures. Although he did signs and wonders and brought the Israelites out of Egypt (Exo 3:10-12), all were done by the power of God. Amazingly, throught the afflictions in the wilderness, the rebellious flock (Israelites) that Moses has to shepherd, he has been finally molded to conform to the image of Christ. I think this should be the greatest achievement for every Christians as well. Shalom Azure |

350 | In Numbers 22:22 why was God angry with | Num 22:12 | azurelaw | 209609
Dear MrsP, Welcome to the forum. See verse 12 God had told Balaam not to curse His people for they are blessed. Balaam knew very clear about God's will. Yet, he still wanted to figure out a way with God in verse 22. It is his disobedience and greedy heart (2 Peter 2:14-15) that cause God's anger. Hope the above helpful. Shalom Azure |

352 | Stumbling allowed to strenghten? | Deut 4:34 | azurelaw | 242393
Dear Nick, Welcome to the forum. The Bible contains many stories about God giving trials (Psalm 66:10, Proverbs 17:3) on His chosen people for strengthening and purifying them to fit for His loving purpose. However, most of the time, we stumble because of our own sinful behaviour. In that case, we must repent. One thing is for sure that God is forever loving, faithful and merciful. He will strengthen us no matter how bad it is for nothing is impossible in Him. I believe the below scriptures are what you need: Isaiah 48:10 Psalm 139:23 Rome 5:1-5 Shalom Azure |

355 | Two people stoned for adultry. | Deut 22:22 | azurelaw | 229707
Dear Jssgirl, There is no such biblical story recorded in the bible. However you may read how people committed adultery are punished according to Moses' law in Deut chapter 22 and Leviticus chapter 20. For your information, in ancient time, capital punishment on people who committed adultery was not limited to Israelites, Chinese also had capital punishment for adulterers, one of the means was to drown them. So, we may see that adultery has been viewed as a very serious crime. Unlike nowadays people's viewing it lightly. Shalom Azure |
