264 | Jesus in genisis | Gen 1:26 | azurelaw | 201144
Dear mamayama, Welcome to the forum. Your pastor is right. Amplified version of Gen 1:26 reads God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. [Ps. 104:30; Heb. 1:2; 11:3.] You may also read the relevant verses quoted and I also recomend you study John 1:1-14 and 1 John 1-3. Shalom Azure |

265 | Does God agree with man going to space? | Gen 1:26 | azurelaw | 214369
Dear carlygrips, Man's duty and responsibility has been clearly identified in Gen 1:26. As far as my understanding, we do not have the right to take charge of the universe / space. If it is out of pride that human get to the space and land on the moon to claim their conquest of the universe and boast of their technological advancement, I believe it does not please God and this is so much alike building the tower Babel. Shalom Azure |

266 | Us | Gen 1:26 | azurelaw | 220444
Dear Aileen, Note "Us" is in capital letter. Cross reference to this verse (Gen 11:7) is Gen 1:26 talking about making man in the image of God. Therefore, I believe the "Us" in Gen 11:7 refers to God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Shalom Azure P.S. Your questions sound like homework assignment. Are they? I could be misunderstanding you. If so, please accept my apology. |

267 | what does god say it takes to be a man | Gen 1:26 | azurelaw | 230528
Dear Jarrett, Men are to live for God's glory because we are made according to His image (Gen 1:26; Romans 3:23, 1 Corinthians 10:31). Men are to rule over other creatures on earth (Gen 1:26). Men are to prosper and to bring up godly offspring (Gen 1:28; Malachi 2:15). Shalom Azure |

268 | Why does God say "us" in Gen 3:22 | Gen 1:26 | azurelaw | 231887
Dear MichaelN, You may check for the cross reference and the 1st verse (Genesis 1:26) bearing the trinitarian concept (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit) in the Bible. ***************** "There is but one only living and true God, who is infinite in being and perfection, a most pure spirit, invisible, without body, parts, or passions, immutable, immense, eternal, incomprehensible, almighty, most wise, most holy, most free, most absolute, working all things according to the counsel of his own immutable and most righteous will, for his own glory, most loving, gracious, merciful, long-suffering, abundant in goodness and truth, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin; the rewarder of them that diligently seek him; and withal most just and terrible in his judgments; hating all sin; and who will by no means clear the guilty." "In the unity of the Godhead there be three Persons of one substance, power, and eternity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. The Father is of none, neither begotten nor proceeding; the Son is eternally begotten of the Father; the Holy Ghost eternally proceeding from the Father and the Son." ---- Westminster Confession (1647 A.D) Shalom Azure |

Dear Rick, As a new user, you might not be familiar with how the postings organized as I see you are posting follow up posts as "questions". Just want to inform you that when you make a follow up post/note/question, you just need to "mark" it as "note" so that it would not be occupying the "primary question" section on the main page, and yet it can still be read and answered. 273 | God wanted to give Adam a helpmate | Gen 2:18 | azurelaw | 201544
Dear queendee, Scripture : Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." Furthermore, I found Metthew Henry's commentary helpful in answering your question. *** … Every beast of the field and every fowl of the air God brought to Adam, … that he might name them, and so might give, 1. A proof of his knowledge, as a creature endued with the faculties both of reason and speech, and so taught more than the beasts of the earth and made wiser than the fowls of the heaven, Job 35:11. And, 2. A proof of his power. It is an act of authority to impose names (Dan. 1:7), and of subjection to receive them…. But he [God] gave Adam leave to name the beasts and fowls, as their subordinate lord; for, having made him in his own image, he thus put some of his honour upon him. An instance of the creatures' insufficiency to be a happiness for man: But (among them all) for Adam there was not found a help meet for him. Some make these to be the words of Adam himself; observing all the creatures come to him by couples to be named, he thus intimates his desire to his Maker:—"Lord, these have all helps meet for them; but what shall I do? Here is never a one for me." It is rather God's judgment upon the review. He brought them all together, to see if there were ever a suitable match for Adam in any of the numerous families of the inferior creatures; but there was none. Observe here, 1. The dignity and excellency of the human nature. On earth there was not its like, nor its peer to be found among all visible creatures; they were all looked over, but it could not be matched among them all. 2. The vanity of this world and the things of it; put them all together, and they will not make a help-meet for man. They will not suit the nature of his soul, nor supply its needs, nor satisfy its just desires, nor run parallel with its never-failing duration. God creates a new thing to be a help-meet for man—not so much the woman as the seed of the woman. Metthew Henry *** Shalom Azure |

274 | Name questions God has asked. | Gen 3:9 | azurelaw | 195365
Dear Mark, Welcome to the forum. God does not need to ask for getting to know anything. He does not need to ask questions for Himself. But those seemingly questions asked (actually the word "SAID" is used in the scripture) by God appeared in Gen 3:9-13 and Job chapter 38 (there should be more, I just cite these 2 scriptures as examples) are for the sake of the persons being asked. 279 | Where did Cains wife come from? | Gen 4:17 | azurelaw | 221565
Dear Ed, It is because according to the creation account recorded in Gen chapter 2, the first and only parents / human created were Adam and Eve. That means all human beings after Adam and Eve are their offsprings. And they named Cain's wife Sugar :-) Shalom Azure |
