561 | background on Galatias | Galatians | azurelaw | 207779
Dear stamuel, Welcome to the forum. The old Saints speak much much better than we do. Here is a very brief introduction on Galatians by Matthew Henry. "The churches in Galatia were formed partly of converted Jews, and partly of Gentile converts, as was generally the case. St. Paul asserts his apostolic character and the doctrines he taught, that he might confirm the Galatian churches in the faith of Christ, especially with respect to the important point of justification by faith alone. Thus the subject is mainly the same as that which is discussed in the epistle to the Romans, that is, justification by faith alone. In this epistle, however, attention is particularly directed to the point, that men are justified by faith without the works of the law of Moses. Of the importance of the doctrines prominently set forth in this epistle, Luther thus speaks: "We have to fear as the greatest and nearest danger, lest Satan take from us this doctrine of faith, and bring into the church again the doctrine of works and of men's traditions. Wherefore it is very necessary that this doctrine be kept in continual practice and public exercise, both of reading and hearing. If this doctrine be lost, then is also the doctrine of truth, life and salvation, lost and gone." Dear SOG, Oh, I think you must have misunderstood my intention here in answering your "same" questionS with "duplicate question". I apologize for the misunderstanding occurred. So, let me explain. Since I see you might have sent your question 3 times by mistake (well some new users even sent the same question 4 or 5 times or more) which will occupy the main primary question page a lot of space, it would be necessary to "clear up" those duplications for obtaining enough space for the benefit of other new questions. I would not clear up all the duplications if none has been answered. So, you can see that your question (post 207696) has been answered by Cheri (207697). That was why I clear your other duplicated questions with good intent for the forum, other users and you in order to avoid confusion caused by various threads created under the same kind of question. So, if what I have done is somewhat you call it "technical obvious observation", then, yes it is :-) But I need your understanding base on the reason I stated above. Shalom Azure |

564 | how do i get control of my will? | Colossians | azurelaw | 207704
Dear walkforchrist, I sure empathize your situation and pray that you gain strength from our gracious Lord day by day when you put your focus on Him and His Word. Your question reminds me of a citation from our Brother Doc in post 203695 which reads below: "I do not know of a single scripture -- and I speak advisedly -- which tells me to take my sin, the particular thing that gets me down, to God in prayer and ask Him to deliver me from it and then trust in faith that He will. Now that teaching is also often put like this: you must say to a man who is constantly defeated by a particular sin, 'I think your only hope is to take it to Christ and Christ will take it from you.' But what does Scripture say in Ephesians 4:28 to the man who finds himself constantly guilty of stealing, to a man who sees something he likes and takes it? What am I to tel such a man? Am I to say, 'Take that sin to Christ and ask Him to deliver you?' No, what the apostle Paul tells him is this: 'Let him that stole, steal no more.' Just that. Stop doing it. And if it is fornication or adultery or lustful thoughts, again: Stop doing it, says Paul. He does not say, 'Go and pray to Christ to deliver you.' No. You stop doing that, he says, as becomes children of God." --Martyn Lloyd-Jones Please read Roman chapter 5 and 6. Shalom Azure |

570 | Heb6:4-6 Loosing salvation or what? | Heb 6:4 | azurelaw | 207566
Dear beja, A belated welcome to the forum. Let me try to give my 2 cents. I believe Heb 6:7-8 explains what the author (Paul?) meant in terms of tasting the heavenly gift. Then how should we interpret "part takers of the Holy Spirit" in verse 4. Does it necessary mean true believers? Meanwhile, shall we also consider the parable of sowing seeds in Matthew 13:20-22 being understood in parallel to the passage you cited? Your thoughts? Shalom Azure |

Dear JKERR, You ask the question and answer it yourself without giving scriptural support. Your question and answer seems to me that you are trying to put much emphasis on "virgin" and "sex". What is your motive? Note that this is a study bible forum, a place for people who honestly and earnestly study God's word. Please reread the terms of use for proper conduct. Shalom Azure |

575 | least in kingdom greater than John | Matt 11:11 | azurelaw | 207415
Dear france13, In reading your post 207395, it seems to me that you have your own answer as to your original question. However, I found those old saints have said aptly as to how to understand the verse. Here I quote from Matthew Henry: "...he that is less in that is greater than John. Some understand it of Christ himself, who was younger than John, and, in the opinion of some, less than John, who always spoke diminishingly of himself; I am a worm, and no man, yet greater than John; so it agrees with what John the Baptist said (Jn. 1:15), He that cometh after me is preferred before me. But it is rather to be understood of the apostles and ministers of the New Testament, the evangelical prophets; and the comparison between them and John is not with respect to their personal sanctity, but to their office; John preached Christ coming, but they preached Christ not only come, but crucified and glorified. John came to the dawning of the gospel-day, and therein excelled the foregoing prophets, but he was taken off before the noon of that day, before the rending of the veil, before Christ's death and resurrection, and the pouring out of the Spirit; so that the least of the apostles and evangelists, having greater discoveries made to them, and being employed in a greater embassy, is greater than John. John did no miracles; the apostles wrought many. The ground of this preference is laid in the preference of the New-Testament dispensation to that of the Old Testament."
