521 | what does the Bible say about suicide? | Matt 22:37 | azurelaw | 209591
Dear stressedchristian, I hope you are not asking the question according to your own situation. Your username and brief user profile, nevertheless, could lead me to such association. The suicidal question such as "whether a believer will still go to heave if suicide" has been asked frequently on the forum. In reading this kind of question, I can't help but worry about the questioner's current mental/psychological state on one hand that he/she definitely needs to talk to a Christian expert on that field; on the other hand, it amazes me that the focus of the question is on "going to heaven" instead of considering "loving our Lord and glorifying Him". God cares us so much that our every hair has been counted and even gave His begotton Son (the perfect, holy and sinless One) to die for us, could a believer do anything that saddens our Lord's heart? Do you think suicide a behaviour that shows our love for God and glorify our Lord? Matt 22:37 And He said to him, "'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' Matt 22:38 "This is the great and foremost commandment. Matt 22:39 "The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' Shalom Azure |

527 | Church membership...a requirement? | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 209392
Dear Beingstill, I agree with Brother Tim that you should talk to your pastor how you feel about his comment for clarification. Furthermore, I like what C.S. Lewis said in his Mere Christianity, which I think pretty relevant to your question and concern about church membership. "It is more like a hall out of which doors open into several rooms. If I can bring anyone into that hall I shall have done what I atempted. But it is in the rooms, not in the hall, that there are fires and chairs and meals. The hall is a place to wait in, a place from which to try the various doors, not a place to live in. For that purpose the worst of the rooms (whichever that may be) is, I think, preferable. It is true that some people may find they have to wait in the hall for a considerable time, while others feel certain almost at once which door they must knock at. I do not know why there is this difference, but I am sure God keeps no one waiting unless He sees that it is good for him to wait. When you do get into your room you will find that the long wait has done you some kind of good which you would not have had otherwise. But you must regard it as waiting, not as camping. You must keep on praying for light: and, of course, even in the hall, you must begin trying to obey the rules which are common to the whole house. And above all you must be asking which door is the true one; not which pleases you best by its paint and panelling. In plain language, the question should never be : 'Do I like that kind of service?' but 'Are these doctrines true: Is holiness here? Does my conscience move me towards this? Is my reluctance to knock at this door due to my pride, or my mere taste, or my personal dislike of this particular door-keeper?'" --- C.S. Lewis I would also recommend you the below link for your further study concerning church membership issues. http://marks.9marks.org/Mark6/LessonC/Slide1of2 Shalom Azure |

529 | Will God predestinate you a mate? | 2 Cor 6:14 | azurelaw | 209186
Dear 4everblessed, As far as I could recall, there is no scriptures specifically stating God choose a particular mate or person for a believer except 2 cases - one is Adam and Eve as you have mentioned and the other is Hosea and the harlot. However, we have to understand the 2 cases within its context. Adam and Eve are the first parents designed by God in the Creation. Hosea and the harlot Gomer (God did not even tell Hosea to take Gomer, but a harlot) is God's intention to reveal His love and faithfulness toward the rebellious and adulterous nation - Israel. However, scriptures do provide guidelines for believers' marrying. See: Deut 7:1-4 2 Cor 6:14 Hope the above helpful. Shalom Azure |

535 | need information on galatians Chapter 6 | Heb 3:12 | azurelaw | 209100
Dear sheltona, Welcome to the forum. I believe V14-15 in chapter 5 is helpful for our understanding of the passage you are in question. Gal 5:14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." 5:15 But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another. Note that in previous chapters, Paul reproved the Galatians' returning to legalism instead of keeping their faith in the complete work of Christ's atonement. (Gal 1:6, 3:1) Now Paul talked about how to deal with weak believers who sinned in Ch 6:1-6. He admonished those who were spiritually matured (i.e. walk in the Spirit - ch 5:16) helped the sinning brothers (to recover from their sins) in meekness and with gentle heart, but NOT condemning others thus fall into the temptation of being boastful or self-righteous. For verse 2, "Love one another" is the commandment of Christ (John 15:12). We have to care about each other as believers are the body of Christ. When one member suffers, all the members suffer with it (1 Cor 12: 26). When helping the sinning brothers, one should also examine oneself as well for we also have our own weaknesses. Hope the above helpful. Shalom Azure |

Dear dmention, The forum has always been treated as a place for doing home assignment by new comers. After reading your question, it gives me the impression of such. However, we would encourage students to first work them out for this will benefit them more and is a blessing, too. If I have wronged you, kindly accept my apology. In response to your question, may I ask: 1/ Which passage you are dealing with? 2/ What do you understand about the kingdom and the Messiah as described in the 4 gospel books? Shalom Azure |
