441 | What does the Bible say about anal sex? | Gen 19:1 | azurelaw | 214764
Dear humility, I have to agree with Justme that the question is inappropriate for the forum not only because of the reason that he gave, but also that as Christian, it is not difficult to know the answer or to discern the problem. 1 Pet 1:15 but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; 1 Pet 1:16 because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY." As I read your profile and some of your posts, I believe you are able to answer it yourself biblically. Though the Bible does not contain the phrase "anal sex" or "oral sex"....(these are modern inventions of the fallen human heart to satisfy their lust), the spirit of demanding us to abstain from the sin is clear. Study and meditate on the 2 greatest commandments Jesus gave in Matthew: Matt 22:37 And He said to him, "'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' Matt 22:38 "This is the great and foremost commandment. Matt 22:39 "The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' Shalom Azure |

442 | What does the name "Jehovah" mean? | Ex 3:15 | azurelaw | 214718
Dear humility, I am not familiar with Jewish history. However, your question can be answered per the below link: YHWH / YAHWEH / JEHOVAH: “LORD” (Deuteronomy 6:4; Daniel 9:14) – Strictly speaking, the only proper name for God. Translated in English Bibles “LORD” (all capitals) to distinguish it from Adonai “Lord.” The revelation of the name is first given to Moses “I Am who I Am” (Exodus 3:14). This name specifies an immediacy, a presence. Yahweh is present, accessible, near to those who call on Him for deliverance (Psalm 107:13), forgiveness (Psalm 25:11) and guidance (Psalm 31:3). 444 | Would God destroy the world again? | Gen 8:21 | azurelaw | 214618
Dear Johnramz, Context is important. Gen 8:21 refers to the flood (the means of destroying the ancient world) God used to destroy the people in Noah's time. Therefore, it does not contradict 2 Peter 3:10 which talks about the 2nd coming of Christ. Shalom Azure |

Dear dieselcowboy, "...in this case [studying the Book of Revelation] exegesis is especially crucial. For this is a book on which a lot of popular books and pamphlets have been written. In almost every case, these popular books do no exegesis at all. They jump immediately to hermeneutics, which usually takes the form of fanciful speculations that John himself could never possibly have intended or understood." --- Fee and Stuart I would recommend you the book "How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth" by Fee and Stuart. They provide helpful guidelines for our Bible study. Shalom Azure |

447 | Does God agree with man going to space? | Gen 1:26 | azurelaw | 214369
Dear carlygrips, Man's duty and responsibility has been clearly identified in Gen 1:26. As far as my understanding, we do not have the right to take charge of the universe / space. If it is out of pride that human get to the space and land on the moon to claim their conquest of the universe and boast of their technological advancement, I believe it does not please God and this is so much alike building the tower Babel. 448 | are there female amgels? | Matt 22:30 | azurelaw | 214363
Dear carlygrips, Welcome to the forum. Hope the below information is helpful for you. Shalom Azure ************ The Bible does not necessarily support the gender of angels being male or female. Whenever gender is specifically “assigned” to an angel in Scripture, it is male (Genesis 19:10-12; Revelation 7:2; 8:3; 10:7). However, this does not necessarily indicate that angels are male. Matthew 22:30 seems to indicate that angels are “sexless,” without gender: “At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.” If angels do not procreate, there is no need for gender, at least not in the sense of human gender distinctions. In a similar manner, God always refers to Himself in masculine language, although God is neither male nor female. He just uses masculine language because it more adequately describes who He is and what He does, especially in the patriarchal cultures in which the Bible was written. If angels do have a gender, in some form, Scripture would indicate that they are predominately or universally male. It is more likely that angels are genderless, just as God is, and that masculine language is just used to describe them and their role in serving God. Dear C.S., May I borrow wordings from our brother Doc as below: "There is an unwritten convention on the forum to use the "Question" button only when addressing the forum as a whole. Follow-up questions and comments addressed to individuals should use the "Note" button. (The individual being addressing will receive automatic notification.) This practice keeps the home page available for those asking questions of the forum members as a whole." Shalom Azure |

453 | What is th sign of Jonah mean in Matthew | Jon 1:17 | azurelaw | 214153
Dear eascusa, Welcome to the forum. Matt 16:4 A wicked and morally unfaithful generation craves a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. Then He left them and went away. [Jonah 3:4, 5.] Jon 3:4 Then Jonah began to go through the city one day's walk; and he cried out and said, "Yet forty days and Nineveh will be overthrown." Jon 3:5 Then the people of Nineveh believed in God; and they called a fast and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least of them. Here is my 2 cents. The first time Jesus mentioned about Jonah's sign in Matthew Ch 12 was to show His status in Ch 12 v41 where within the context He refuted Pharisees' blasphemies. I believe this is the central idea when Jesus cited about Jonah. Now, in Ch 16, the context is different from that in chapter 12. You see from the amplified version, the cross reference verse for Mat 16:4 is Jonah 3:4-5. It is God's miraculous work that the whole Nineveh (a wicked people as well as Israel's enemy) saved. I believe this is to show God's mercy to also save the gentile when following the context in Ch 16 and the preceding chapter 15 v21-39. Jesus also compared the Pharisees and Sadducees with the wicked Ninevites that even the most wicked Ninevites did not reject God's grace and repented, yet the Pharisees, Sadducees and religious leaders were so much hard-hearted. I heard a preacher said that Ch 15:37 (feeding the 4000 thousand) "...large baskets full", original word "spuris; of unc" used is in association with gentiles; while a different word used in Ch 14:20 (feeding the 5000 thousand) "kophinos; a prim. word; a basket:--baskets" denotes the Jews. However, I don't know Greek, I believe brother Tim or other can help to verify this if they are around. Shalom Azure |

454 | 1PETER 1:2 | Matt 26:28 | azurelaw | 214113
Dear elhur, Welcome to the forum. I believe the below verses helpful to you. Matt 26:28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. John 6:53 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. 19 John 6:54 "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. Rom 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace Heb 9:11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation; Heb 9:12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. Heb 9:13 For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, Heb 9:14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
