21 | Did Jesus have brothers and sisters? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117837
I know James (the inspired writer of the Book of James) is Jesus' half brother. Also, Jude, the inspired writer of the Book of Jude is related to Him. I learned about these two from reading commentary in the Thompson Chain study Bible. WalkingTalkingBible |

22 | Who has left an awesome legacy to follow | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117858
There are so many for both categories. Joseph (son of Israel via Rachel) - was hated by his brothers because of his dreams and favor of their father. He was hated by his brothers, sold into captivity, thrown into prison because of a lie, and finally, made it to the palace. Through all of this, he never complained or stopped trusting God. (starting in Genesis 37) Job - in all poor Job went through, he never lost his integrity and love for God (Book of Job) Esther - was born into captivity, who, because she was very humble and bold, became queen of Persia and saved her people from being killed. (Book of Esther) Daniel - was God's dream interpreter, refused to bow down to the Persian gods, continued to pray to God, even though it was forbidden, was cast into the lion's den, never stop trusting God. (Book of Daniel) Jonah - was sent by God to preach to a people whom he hated, ignored God's commission, ended up in a whale, went to preach anyhow, was mad because God saved the people (Book of Jonah) Samson - was not to mess with strange women (Philistines), played with Delilah until her plot to take his strength was carried through, died with the Philistines (starting in Judges 13:24) Jezebel - did anything to control everything, had God's prophets killed, thrown into prison, exiled, you name it. If you ever heard someone get called a "jezebel" this person is a control freak. Often, people would refer to a promiscuous woman as a "jezebel," even though Jezebel would have done anything to have her way, she is biblically known for her overpowering nature (1 Kings 18, 19, 21, 2 Kings 9 and Revelation 2:20) YoYo, I hope these help get you started WalkingTalkingBible |

23 | Did He have control of the Holy Spirit? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117867
1 John 5:7 says, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." The Father (Creator), the Son (Word), and the Holy Ghost (Spirit) are three manifestations of God. The Holy Spirit is Who dwells all believers in this dispensation. Remember when Jesus said in John 15:4, "Abide in Me and I in you?" John 16:7, He says if He doesn't go away, then the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost (John 14:26) will not come. He is all in One. 25 | When did the apostles receive the H S ? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118190
They were filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. To fully understand this, there has to first be a clear understanding of who Jesus is. Jesus is the Word of God in the flesh. John 1:1, 14 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." Jesus said in John 15:4, "Abide in Me and I in you." He's saying to all believers, "Abide in My Word and My Spirit will be in you. While in the flesh, He dwelt with them (Immanuel), but in Spirit, he dwells in them. He had to first ascend (1 Timothy 3:16). After that, He is manifested as the Holy Spirit. WalkingTalkingBible |

26 | what passages bind and rebuke satan | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118386
Matthew 16:18-19 says, "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock [the Revelation of Christ] I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Matthew 4:1-11 shows us how Jesus rebuked and resisted the devil by using the Word. Jude 9 shows Michael, the archangel, rebuking Satan Mark 16:17 shows us that in the Name of Jesus there is power against the devil. "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover Luke 10:19 says "Behold, I give unto you power [authority] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Hi, Searcher56, Matthew 16:19 says, "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Mark 16:17-18 says, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." A child of God is to walk in the Spirit which is to be lead of the Holy Ghost in all that we do. You speak as if you think of "casting out devils, (demons in our language)" to be 1)a ministry only needed in Haiti and 2)as if this ministry is some magical show. The Holy Ghost gives power to discern spirits and He also gives power to handle spirits. The Holy Ghost, who is God, also gives wisdom on what to do with spirits. If the Holy Ghost leads me to go to Haiti, I will, but I think there are enough DEVILS here in the U.S. to deal with. WalkingTalkingBible |

29 | Spirit/spirit?Is Spirit given or spirit? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 122332
Hi, Ray! Acts 8:18 - 19 would be "Spirit," because it talks about the Holy Ghost Himself 1 Timothy 4:14 and (I assume you meant) 2 Timothy 1:6 would be "spiritual gift" because those speak of something from God The Holy Spirit (God Himself) is a gift - Acts 2:38 spiritual gifts are from the Spirit (God) - 1 Corinthians 12 God is a Spirit (John 4:24) and He is holy, but when describing Him as being holy and a spirit, it would be Holy Spirit. (I almost confused myself!) WalkingTalkingBible |

Hi, Ray, thanks! No, I don't think the Word is an it (no way!!). You are right, I should've said, "the devil knows what the *word says but he will not put *it into action!" Thanks for catching that and thanks also for the verses. I do believe the Holy Spirit proceeds from God (and is God). I haven't studied 2 Corinthians 1:22 so I'll have to get back with you on the idea of the holy spirit as a down payment. WalkingTalkingBible |

31 | I'm guessing, cause they're his disciple | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 123857
". . . but some doubted. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" Matthew 28:17b, 19 "And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not. And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them." Mark 16:11, 13 "And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not. . . Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. . . And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? . . . And he took it, and did eat before them . . . And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. . . but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high." Luke 24:11, 39, 41, 43, and 47 The disciples were having a problem believing that Jesus had resurrected. These verses (above) are from the other three Gospels and are parallel to John 20:18-23. "He breathed on them" showing them that He was not a ghost, but alive again. In Luke's account, He ate fish and honeycomb, and told them to touch Him, to show that He had resurrected. 32 | Playing Cards | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 125045
Hi, nakia1980, the answer that prayon gave to your other question concerning music also goes for this one. While reading your questions, some verses come to mind: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:2 and "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17 It seems that the Church (Body of Christ) is struggling to draw and satisfy souls who are not really born again. God calls for a holy nation - one that's separated (sanctified) in views, thoughts, and actions. The Church shouldn't have to stoop to worldly activities to draw and keep souls, the Light of Jesus is enough. He says, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." John 12:32 (on the cross as well in the hearts of believers). As Christians, we are to glorify God in all that we do. We are to acknowledge Him in all our ways. Also, He wants praise from the sun up until the sun down. I said all that to say, if God can get the glory from you playing cards, play on. If God can get the well deserved praise as you listen to your music, listen on. If these are things you used to do before you were born again, avoid them. The enemy is trying to draw you back. When you are born again, instead of feeling that you can't do things, you find that there are things that you don't want to do. The Holy Ghost will lead you to fun things to do while maintaining your sanctification if you're willing. Thank you for your questions, they really made me do a self exam. WalkingTalkingBible |

34 | WTB Show where is the devil kicked out. | Genesis | WalkingTalkingBible | 117652
In Genesis 1:2, we see that the earth, a creation of God, being without form, and it was void (emptiness) and darkness was present. One may question if God made the earth like that. Remember, God is perfect, having all power, and Holy - how could He create something formless and void? As God moved across the face of the deep He saw the potential for informity in His creation. Why, because the devil and his followers had been expelled from Heaven. Now in verses 3-5, we see that God created light. This light was not the sun, moon, or stars (which were not created until the 4th day). If this darkness had been simply natural darkness, then those natural lights would have been sufficient. However, the darkness that "was upon the face of the deep" was a darkness that only the light of God, better know as the Shekinah glory (Exodus 40:34-35) could separate. The light, which is the presence of God was divided, or set apart, from the darkness, the presence of the devil. I believe the devil was kicked out before the completion of the first day of creation. Revelation 12:4 also shows the devil and a third of the host of heaven being expelled from heaven. But since we know that God created everything in the beginning, then the expulsion had to have taken place before, or during the beginning of the creation of the earth. Hi, pgs, I agree with the other posts concerning 'light'. God is the Light of man. The light in Genesis 1:3 is the glory of God signifying His presence (Jews call it the Shekinah glory). I believe it is the same light that will be seen in the new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1, 23). 2 Chronicles 5:14; Exodus 40:34 WalkingTalkingBible |

37 | What is the meaning of unleavened bread? | Ex 12:1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 122385
Unleaven bread is a symbol for sin. 1 Corinthians 5:6-8, "Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." Unleaven bread goes back to the first Passover meal (Exodus 12). The Hebrews were told to "eat it in haste" (the lamb, bread, and herbs). Naturally, it takes time for bread to rise with yeast (leaven) as an ingredient. The leaven symbolizes sin as a hinderance to being "passed over" from the judgment of God. They were to eat "with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand" (verse 11). This signifies being prepared to move instantly on the word of God. WalkingTalkingBible |

39 | Please elaborate more on question 1 | 1 Sam 19:9 | WalkingTalkingBible | 133178
Hi, to correctly answer these questions, we have to look at the dispensations - these tell us in which way God deals with man and what He expects from man. 1. God does not have an evil spirit. God is holy and His spirit (character in this sense) is holy. As we know, holy means pure. 1 Thessalonians 4:8b "but God, who hath also given unto us His holy Spirit." Leviticus 19:2 ". . . for I the LORD your God am holy." During Saul's time, God was dealing with man through the Law. Deuteronomy 28:15 "But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:" Saul disobeyed God and God kept His word; Saul was cursed. An evil spirit was sent to torment Saul and he chose not to repent. In the our time (Grace Dispensation), God does not allow evil to come upon us, we do. The gift of Salvation frees us from the bondage of sin. It must be understood that true repentance is not just saying 'I'm sorry'. It starts with realizing that you are a sinner and that your very way of life is an offense to God. Then you have to be accountable for your sin and desire forgiveness. A soul that is truly repented is not so quick to sin. Evil, now, comes against us because we are the children of God. We are told that our enemies are not of the flesh. God equips us for spiritual warfare, why then would He send it to us? In this dispensation, we choose whether we will abstain from evil or do evil. Romans 6:16 "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" 2. In the past dispensations, God's spirit did not live in man. In the OT, we read where the spirit of God moved, came over, was with, etc. In our dispensation, we have the opportunity for the spirit of God to dwell within us. It's one thing to get saved, it's another thing to live and stay saved. The Holy Spirit basically shows us how to live holy and helps us persevere until Jesus returns for us. WalkingTalkingBible |

40 | how does this apply to today and faith | 2 Kin 4:28 | WalkingTalkingBible | 134379
Elisha sent his servant, Gehazi, to meet the Shunammite woman (v. 26) and she told him that all was well because she wanted to talk with the man of God. We see Gehazi's heart in how he comes to push the woman away (v. 27). Elisha knew she was vexed but didn't know exactly what was troubling her (v. 27). Applying this to us today we learn it's not wrong to want to go to the top for answers or help. In the Shunammite's case, it was the man of God. In our case, we can go directly to God.
