81 | modes in aiding meditation | Gen 1:26 | Val | 200417
It sounds like new age Azure. I would urge her to stick to memorization of scripture and journaling. Painting and drawing sounds ok. I don't know about talking to trees and nature. Sounds like pantheism to me. We certainly can pray and thank God for the trees and nature but talk to him not the creature. Hope this helps. Blessings Val

Genesis 1 tells you what God made on each day. Notice the fifth day ended at verse 23. Then the sixth day begins at verse 24 ending at verse 31. On the sixth day it says He made (verse 24) living creatures after their kind, cattle, and so on, (verse 26) He made man He made food for man and creatures on the third day - see Verses 9-13. Chapter One is a big picture of what the Lord created and then Chapter Two goes into the details. |

87 | Why was God unhappy with Cains offering? | Gen 4:5 | Val | 206015
Cain did not submit to God's leadership. He wanted to come to God his way. We must come to God, God's way. God saw Cain's heart and was and is able to judge rightly something that you and I cannot do. Only God can judge a person's motives because He can see inside our minds. He knows what we are thinking all the time and why we do the things we do. He is the only one able to give a just judgement. We also see death of an animal. This shows the need for a blood sacrifice. That there is no forgiveness without blood. It shows the awfulness of sin. That Cain's sin was so hurtful to God that because he still wanted a relationship with man, and because of God's holiness for man to be cleansed there had to be a death because forgiveness is in the blood. A poor little lamb had to be sacrificed for sin. It is a picture of our Lord Jesus Christ who gave the perfect, supreme sacrifice. He is the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. We need to have a right heart attitude and accept this sacrifice by putting our faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Abel apparently understood and submitted to God whereas Cain did not and was in rebellion showed by his offering of vegetables. People today are much like this. We think we can come to God in any way we chose. We cannot. There is only one way to God. That is through his Son and His finished work on the cross. We are covered by His blood for the remission of our sins when we submit and bow the knee to Him as our Lord and Saviour. 1 John 3:12 not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother's were righteous. Jude 1:11 Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, and for pay they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam, and perished in the rebellion of Korah. Blessings, Val |

88 | what does sons of God refer to. | Gen 6:2 | Val | 215333
Dear Shane, there are two views; one is that they were angels. The other view is that they were men. I tend to agree with the second view because when the Pharisees asked Jesus about heaven and a hypothetical question about a women who had several husbands whose wife she would be in heaven. He said there was no marriage in heaven as there was in earth and we would be like the angels. This verse is what is called a difficult verse and since there is no cross reference to explain it we just leave it at that. Some wise person once said of the bible; the plain things are the main things and the main things are the plain things. Sincerely, Val |

89 | destruction of earth | Gen 8:21 | Val | 219843
The Lord Jesus tells us in Matthew 24:6 and 7 And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of war; see that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. Matthew 24:44-51 |

91 | becoming slaves? | Gen 15:13 | Val | 198206
Gen 15:13 God said to Abram, "Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years. 35 Gen 15:18 On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your descendants I have given this land, From the river of Egypt as far as the great river, the river Euphrates: The account of Abram, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph in regards to the covenant God made with them is one that shows how God was faithful to them and remains faithful today. A character study on each of these men provides great insight into the relationship God has with those whom He keeps covenant. Happy New Year's Michael. |

Gen 17:1 Now when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am God Almighty; ... Gen 17:17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Will a child be born to a man one hundred years old? And will Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?" 93 | What was the purpose of circumcision? | Gen 17:10 | Val | 223307
Gen 17:11 "And you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be the sign of the covenant between Me and you. The purpose of the covenant is for a "sign". There are many interesting books on covenants. Most times there was a blood covenant. These covenants were practiced in most societies. |

94 | Does Jesus die for Gentile's sins too? | Gen 18:18 | Val | 214145
The first mention is in Genesis 18:18. Christ the Messiah is the same God of the Old Testament. When we look at Jesus we are looking at God. He called himself the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. His line can be traced back to Abraham. He chose Abraham and his descendants to be His people and He would be their God. He said in you, Abraham, all the nations of the earth would be blessed. This is referring to the fact that when Christ the Messiah came, people would be saved who called upon His name. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. In bible study we consider the whole counsel of God, 66 books to know Him and His plan of redemption. Read all of the bible. There are some believers who make it a practice to read the bible through at least once a year. It can be read through in about three months. Before making final conclusions we have to read all 66 books. Sincerely, Val |

95 | what was the sodomites knowledge of God, | Gen 19:14 | Val | 197878
All of mankind came from the three sons of Noah so it would be evident that this event in history would be verbally passed down to the next generation. The reasons why God distroyed all people but the household of Noah should have been enough to make anyone fear the Lord. Gen 10:1 Now these are the records of the generations of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah; and sons were born to them after the flood. |

96 | sons of Korah | Gen 36:5 | Val | 205767
There are six different descriptions of people called Korah, Korahites, and Korhites. They are as follows: 1. The son of Esau by Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah, the son of Zibion the Hivite (Gen 36:5,14,18;1 Chron 1:35). 2. The son of Eliphaz, the son of Esau by Adah, the daughter of Elon the Hittite (Gen 36:16). 3. The son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi (Ex 6:21,24) who rose up against Moses and Aaron with 250 leaders of the congregation charging them with exalting themselves above the assembly of the Lord, Numbers 16, 26, Deuteronomy 11:6, Psalm 106:16-18. 4. The son of Hebron, son of Mareshah, son of Caleb, son of Hezron, the son of Perez whom Tamar, the daughter in law, bore to Judah (1 Chron 2:43) 5. The grandson of Kohath, son of Levi (1 Chhron 6:37), Psalms 42-49, 84, 85, 87, 88 are given the superscription as "belonging to the Sons of Korah." It is probable that these originated among this guild of singers and were perhaps, sun by them in the worship of the Temple. In 2 Chronicles 20:19 when Jehoshaphat came before God,"the Levites, the Kohathitites and the Korahites, stood up to praise the Lord". Shallum, one of the gatekeepers appointed by David, was also a descendant of Korah. 1 Chronicles 9:19,31. 6. Five of the men from the tribe of Benjamin who joined David at Ziglag were called Korahites (1 Chron 12:6), which suggests the possibility of Korah also being a geographical name. 98 | Psalms 1:2-3? | Exodus | Val | 199138
Nandi, there is a wealth of resources at Preceptaustin on the web where you may find many helps on Psalms 1 as well as other scriptures. I am thinking that the waters were possibly placed there to water the garden and the creatures, the account is found in Genesis. We know that the Lord Jesus Christ is referred to as water when he told the women at the well that whoever drank of Him would never thirst again. Praise the Lord. See the gospels for this account. Grace, I will try to answer your question. Moses killed an Egyptian and fled to the wilderness. He was not known by the Egyptians until he was sent to Egpyt to lead his people out of bondage under the Egyptians. They were slaves there and worked on buildings and things serving Pharoah. There was no reason for the Egyptians to go into the wilderness as they had it made so to speak in Egypt. Besides the wilderness was mostly dry and barren so it was not a place people wanted to go to. I believe the Red Sea was opened up and swallowed those Egyptian soldiers who pursued Moses and his people when Pharoah let them go after God had served them with plagues and the last plague of the killing of the firstborn. There was probably more than one way to cross over into Egypt without going across the Red Sea, I suppose they could have went around. So anyone could go and come as they pleased. I hope I have helped you Grace. May God bless you. Grace and Peace, Val |
