421 | A fanatic, a zealot or a prophet? | Titus 1:1 | Val | 204815
More important is what is it that she says she is hearing from God. Does it line up with the Bible? Since you are uncomfortable with her speaking, this may be a red flag. You might ask her to give her testimony before the board members. Are you the pastor? I don't see anything wrong with a person giving their testimony however it is usually done in evening services not at the main worship service.
422 | What is the meaning of "the order of..." | Heb 1:1 | Val | 209828
Cheri, study the book of Hebrews all the way through. Make a list of the priests and their duties then make a list of Christ as priest and His duties. This will open up to you the meaning of these two priesthoods. Enjoy! Val
423 | Why do we need the law if we have grace? | Heb 1:1 | Val | 213184
We are still under the moral law. That part of the law that we are not under is the law which was fulfilled in the one time sacrifice of Jesus our Christ. Book of Hebrews
424 | Before the new testament what was there? | Heb 1:1 | Val | 214190
God spoke to His people through His prophets. Heb 1:1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, Heb 1:2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world Sincerely, Val |

425 | No man can God and live. | Heb 1:3 | Val | 215088
Dear Humility, with a person like you mentioned, sometimes it is best just to state plainly the gospel which is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A person who does not have the spirit of God could not comprehend the bible because it is spirtually discerned. Only after an individual believes in the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord does he begin to understand the living word. You can always share the love of Christ with them and how your life has changed since following Him. I have always been taught to keep the focus on the cross and the love of God. Hope this helps, Sincerely, Val
426 | What is interpretation of Hebrews 6:4-6 | Heb 6:9 | Val | 220814
Mark those in this passage and you see a different group of people. Verse 9 explains that they are not of the those. In other words they cannot go back to the old covenant since they are now under the new covenant. The animal sacrifices occurred once a year for atonement. When Jesus sacrificed his life it was a perfect sacrifice and occurred only once. So anyone who goes back to the old covenant is showing that theirs is not a genuine conversion.
427 | no more animal sacrifice | Heb 8:13 | Val | 218863
Dear YenisaRap, I am currently studying Jeremiah. I believe the following verses shed some light on your question. Jer 33:14 'Behold, days are coming,' declares the LORD, 'when I will fulfill the good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and the house of Judah. Jer 33:15 'In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to spring forth; and He shall execute justice and righteousness on the earth. Jer 33:16 'In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will dwell in safety; and this is the name by which she will be called: the LORD is our righteousness.' Jer 33:17 "For thus says the LORD, 'David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel; Jer 33:18 and the Levitical priests shall never lack a man before Me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings and to prepare sacrifices continually.' This is a promise made to Israel in the time of Jeremiah. Obviously, sacrifices were honored by God when they were done in His timing and in His ways. There are many things we do not understand. This is probably one of those topics I have never heard discussed but is it in the bible? Yes it is. Obviously God has a plan for the future. We in our finite minds cannot comprehend it so confusion comes in as to the why. We only learn the answers as we continue to study God's word. Then as we study we realize how much we do not know and we have different questions. It is a fascinating journey is it not? Good Question. |

428 | OT says Altar of Insence is outside viel | Heb 9:2 | Val | 214285
Welcome Roberta, M. C. Tenney addressed this in The Zondervan Pictorial Encyclopedia of the Bible - The position of this altar in the Tabernacle seems to have been within the inner sanctuary just before the Ark of the covenant, Exod 40:5; Lev 16:11-14, on which the high priest sprinkled the blood of atonement once a year, Exodus 30:10. The golden altar of Solomon's temple was placed in the inner sancturay, 1 Kings 6:20,22, but in the third Temple it seems to have been outside the veil within the Holy Place, Luke 1:10. Revelation speaks of an altar of incense that stood before the throne of God, Rev 8:3. The reference to the golden altar in Hebrews 9:3 agrees that it was within the inner sanctuary. The apparent conflict between Exodus 30:6 and 40:26 and the other passages which locate it beyond the veil has been given different solutions. Snaith, Leviticus and Numbers, p.43, suggests that the original text was modified to suit the arrangement of the second and third Temples, and that there was no altar of incense in the Tablernacle. He follows Wellhausen's argument that two separate sources are responsible for the difference. In the light of the fact that small incense altars were used by the Canaanites from the earliest times in Pal., it is hardly possible that such were unknown, or that an altar of incense could not have been part of the furniture of the Tabernacle. The apparent discrepancy in the location of the golden altar may arise from differing usages between the Tabernacle and the Temple, or from the fact that it stood so close to the Ark that it was classed with the Holy of Holies because it represented an intercessory ministry in the presence of God. One Jewish source suggests that Exodus 25:1 through 27:19 is the blueprint for the construction of the Tabernacle, while Exodus 40:1-33 describes the actual assembling of the building and consequently a modification of position. - M.C. Dear Crystal, "willfully sinning" means one has no intention of stopping. You have been given some good scriptures and comments. Find yourself a christian mentor, preferably a woman family member or friend. Find a good bible believing church and participate with like minded believers who can help you grow and support you in being accountantable to Christ. Spend much time in prayer and bible study. Tell everyone you are not the person you used to be but have a new life in Christ. They may test you so turning them down will show them you mean business and it will be a testimony to your new life in Christ. Merry Christmas - Val
431 | How were non Jews saved B.C.? | Heb 11:13 | Val | 199804
Yes. How - by following Jehovah. An example would be Ruth in the book of Ruth.
432 | Healing, which way to believe? | Heb 11:32 | Val | 197881
Hebrews 11:32-40 is a passage that shows a contrast between those who are delivered from death on this earth and those who are not delivered. It is an opinion that those who do not receive deliverance in the physical on earth have a higher purpose for their suffering. All believers in Jesus are healed when they go home to be with him at the appointed time. He says He has numbered our days so be assured we will not die until our appointed time comes.
433 | meaningless repetition define? | James | Val | 195076
The concept is that you pray with a sincere, genuine heart desire not just to be seen by men or flippantly. The book of James is excellent regarding how to pray.
434 | Questioning God. | James 1:1 | Val | 190908
James 1:1 James, a bond-servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes who are dispersed abroad: Greetings. James 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, James 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. James 1:4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, James 1:8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. |

435 | Is it God speaking?? | James 1:5 | Val | 213328
Dear Lissamz: I know what you mean when you say people are always talking about God speaking to them and speaking to their hearts. The following comments may be true for some people not all. Be aware that this is a language that people learn in their circles. I have known people to hide behind the language. Its an image they want to project if you will. Its a way also of keeping people at arm's length. Instead of just forming boundaries they use this form of talk to feel good about themselves and their families and friends. It has nothing to do with God speaking to them because when you look closely they admit they do not read much less study the bible. Find a new circle of friends. Those whose daily practices is to study the word and are humble. Sincerely, Val |

436 | AMm I UnTeachable? | James 1:19 | Val | 196166
There could be many reasons this was said to you. It may just be a personality conflict. It sounds like you might need to back off and just listen for a while, otherwise you might want to change classes or churches. James 1:19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; |

437 | Is this The Right Tongues?!!!! | James 1:20 | Val | 197649
Something is wrong with this picture you present. Do not exercise this gift again until you have your anger under control would be my suggestion. James 1:19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; James 1:20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. |

438 | Faith without works is dead. What mean? | James 2:26 | Val | 197481
It means that you will act on your faith. You will mature in the faith. You will grown in your faith. It is speaking of a genuine saving faith. The examples are given there in James such as Abraham and Rahab. Abraham offered his son. Rahab helped the spies escape. A study of the entire book of James will help you to see what genuine faith is and what is meant by works. May God bless. |

439 | Abraham and Abimelech | James 4:2 | Val | 213117
Dear Cheri, A topical study on prayer would be helpful. I will make two points concerning your question. The first point is that God works through the prayers of His people. This is the way He has chosen to work. This is why prayer is so important. The second point is that Abimelech is not someone who worships God. He worships some other god. He became involved in this situation because of the deception of Abraham. God has mercy on him. Sometimes unbelievers can be an example to believers. They know that believers are different and when they act contrary to that they call them on it. I don't think Abraham was exalted in any way. It was probably a rebuke to him because he was afraid of telling Abimelech the truth from the start rather than trusting God for the circumstances. Holding to Him - Val
440 | Can we pray for others sins to be forgiv | James 5:16 | Val | 201687
James 5:20 It is better to show them the error of their ways in gentleness and love. Pointing them in the right direction is better than leaving them in the wilderness. We are told to remove the plank in our own eyes first. |
