201 | convincing people Bible true word of God | Matt 1:1 | Val | 209228
Prayer and love. Keep reading the bible and studying it daily and pray for them. Ask God to open up an opportunity for you to witness to them one on one. At that time if you have been in the word and prayer you will know how to answer them by the power of the Holy Spirit. Don't fret over their not believing the bible. If you do you will lose focus as Peter lost focus when he looked at the water rather than keeping his eys on the Lord. Blessings - Val

204 | Were the wisemen real? | Matt 2:2 | Val | 196943
Its a true story. Matt 2:2 "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him." Obviously the star appeared the night Christ was born. The number of wise men is actually unknown. As you read the account you see it does not give the number. Somewhere along the way three became the popular number. Merry Christmas. |

205 | What is Baptism in the Holy Spirit | Matt 3:11 | Val | 196408
If you read the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, then read Acts you will see how the baptism of the Holy Spirit came and why. It is basically a down payment on a future blessing. We receive it when we are born again and when we go to heaven receive the full blessing.

James 1:1-6 James, a bond-servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes who are dispersed abroad: Greetings.Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance and let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be complete, lacking in nothing. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach and it will be given to him but he must ask in faith without doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. |

208 | SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH | Matt 5:17 | Val | 223147
Looking back to when the ten commandments were given, when Israel came out of bondage in Egypt and who they were given to, Israel by Moses we learn much by studing the book of Exodus and Leviticus as well as the Genesis, Numbers and Deuteronomy. We see that God gave the commandments to Israel to show them how they are to relate to God and to one another. Looking at the attributes of God we see that He is holy and we are to be like Him by obeying and trusting Him. Matthew 22:37 The ten commandments show us what kind of people we are to be and how we are to treat one another. The ten commandments also show us that God, the creator of heaven and earth is to be worshiped by all his creation. The ten commandments also serve as a warning that if we do not obey them we will suffer the consequences. Each day you and I are faced with choices to obey or break a commandment. When we chose to obey we normally have peace and a clean conscience. When we disobey we bring turmoil and strife to our lives and the lives of those who are hurt by our disobedience. The ten commandments are a plumb line. We line up our choices next to the plumb line. This helps us make the right, God honoring choices. Hope this helps.

210 | They had the knowledge of God | Matt 5:20 | Val | 206119
If you do a word search on the word Pharisees you will learn a lot about them and the whys of what they did. Here is one verse Luke 7:30 But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected God's purpose for themselves, not having been baptized by John. In essence they were the leaders, had high positions and Christ threatened their position. They did not want to submit to Him. It is a lot like today. People do not want to submit to Christ. They want to live the way they want. To follow Christ to some means they would have to change their lifestyles, something many do not want to do. Again, a word search on Pharisees will show you much. They would be what we call snobs today. Blessings, Val |

Matt 8:13 And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed that very moment. |

216 | What is the meaning of Matthew16:27and28 | Matt 17:3 | Val | 194965
Some scholars believe He was speaking about the Mount of Transfiguration in which Peter was privileged to see. Matt 17:3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 3 Matt 17:4 Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah |

217 | He owes it all | Matt 22:39 | Val | 197134
To live a godly live is the best present you can give to the Lord. Phil 1:27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; Phil 1:28 in no way alarmed by your opponents--which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God. |

218 | Is this a sin PLEASE I NEED THE ANSWER | Matt 22:39 | Val | 198251
It would depend on who the person is such as is it your family, i.e., mother, father, brother, sister, child. If it is do a work search on those terms. Also on orphan and widow, poor. Is the person in need? Do a word search on how to treat the needy, the alien, the stranger. The good thing about the bible is that you can do these word searches to see how we are to relate to others. Also the fruit of the spirit is love, genleness, kindness, etc. A word search on these show the attitude we are to have. As someone else has said pray. Pray for this person every day. Pray for yourself for wisdom. James 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, James 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. James 1:4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. |

219 | was the ten commandments done away with | Matt 22:40 | Val | 210041
Dear Saracharies, Welcome to the forum. Christ Jesus came to fulfil the Law and that spoken by the Prophets. As you remember Israel is God's chosen people. The law was given to them when they came out of Egypt. It was to show them how to treat one another. Israel also had the tabernacle, the place of worship where they would meet with God. Priests were appointed to represent the people. They offered animal sacrifices continually. These sacrifices reminded them of their sin. In Hebrews which I have been studing I see that Jesus came as the perfect High Priest. He brought about a new covenant and the old covenant, the priests offering the animal sacrifices was no longer needed. Jesus is a priest forever in heaven. We can go directly to Him in prayer. No longer does Israel have to go through an earthly priest. A study of these two covenants will help you better understand this topic. The moral law was not done away with. Jesus said if you love me you will keep my commandments. The ten commandments show us how to treat one another. Murder, lying, stealing, etc. are all bad things. We wouldn't want these things done to us. So why I ask would you think Christ would want to allow these things? Even unbelievers would do themselves a favor if they kept the ten commandments. Jesus is holy, righteous, good. We are called to be like Him. We are called to follow Him. A study of the Sabbath day can be obtained by using the search features to the right of the screen. I recommend for your reading Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy and Hebrews. Blessings, Val Matt 5:17 "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. Blessings, Val |

220 | Is the rapture upon us. | Matt 24:36 | Val | 210274
I would say through my study of the scriptures and what I understand, the rapture could happen at any time and it is the next event on God's prophetic calendar. The world stage is being prepared for His coming. There is a Revelation Precept Upon Precept Study at Precept.org. There are many commentaries you could look at at your local Christian book store. Preceptaustin.org gives an overview of the authors and interpretive styles. There is an author named Joel Rosenberg who has written some books about the global economy and how it relates to the end times. He has a website. He has been a speaker at Precept Ministries. He has been on James Dobson’s radio program as well as Hannity and Colmes and others. We are told to believe in Christ Jesus and what He did for us on the cross and His resurrection from the dead. We are told to serve Him. This is the best preparation you can make. Therefore whether we pass before the rapture or when the Lord appears in the heavens we will be ready to meet our Creator. Blessings – Val Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. |
