5583 | the Nicolaitans | Rev 2:6 | Searcher56 | 219406
soberxp, Rev 2:6 is in the letter to the church at Ephesus The church at Pergamum was told "So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans" (Rev 2:15). They are followers of the heretic Nicolas. The root of the word Nicolaitans comes from Greek nikao, to conquer or overcome, and laos, which means people. It is about having a pecking order/ hierarchy in the church. Searcher |

God's day to you, WOODGRACE2@NETZERO.COM, and welcome to the SBF, Some say 10 is the number of Divine Perfection, as is 3. Source: http://www.carm.org/christianity/bible/what-biblical-numerology However, is every case where the number 10 fit? This is true for all numbers. I don't believe is forcing numbers to mean anything, except for 666, the number of man (Rev 13:8). Searcher |

Scripture ... Deu 13:1-5; Mat 7:15-16; Act 17:11; 2Pe 2:1; 1Jo 2:18-27, 4:1-3; 2Jo 1:7 ... Study Scripture ... know it so well that when there is a slight deviation from the truth, you will know it. I ask those who are deviatants if I prove them wrong, will they be willing to be subject to the punishment in the Bible. It is death (Deu 13:1-5) .. most don't want to change ... I have stood up as they spoke and proved them wrong. Searcher |

5590 | meaning of the word Balaam | Rev 2:14 | Searcher56 | 229612
Scripture … Num 22:5-24:25, Deu 23:4-25, 2Pe 2:15, Jud 1:11, Rev 2:14 … God's day to you, Bronco37, and welcome to the SBF, The root meaning for the word Balaam (Strong's Number: 1109) has been long thought meant "not of the people" based on two words in the Hebrew: -Bal, an adverb (Strong's Number: 1077) meaning not, hardly, else (in turn, its root is Balah, a verb (Strong's Number: 1086) meaning include to wear out, become old) - am, a noun masculine (Strong's Number: 5971) meaning nation, people (in turn, its root is amam, a verb, meaning to dim, darken, grow dark) Some think Balaam means "Swallowing Up (Destroying) The People" ... am (nation, people) should be combined with bala, a verb (Strong's Number: 251) meaning swallow up or down. Decide which you like by reading Balaam’s actions (Num 22:5-24:25) and some of the references back to them (Deu 23:4-25, 2Pe 2:15, Jud 1:11, Rev 2:14). I use the following and dig around http://www.biblestudytools.com/interlinear-bible/ Today, I was prompted by the Lord dig a little more ... to ... http://www.abarim-publications.com/Meaning/Balaam.html Searcher |

5591 | Who was Jezebel? | Rev 2:20 | Searcher56 | 16533
Ahab, a king of Israel married Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians (1Kin 16:31). She brought or increased Baal worship, killed God's prophets (18:4), put Elijah on the run (19:2ff), suggested that Naboth be killed for his land (21:5ff). I think the key verse on her is "Surely there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do evil in the sight of the LORD, because Jezebel his wife incited him" (1Kin 21:25). This fits with Rev 2:20. 2 King 9:22 talks about her many harlotries and witchcrafts She was killed (2Kin 9:30ff) as prophicied (1Kin 21:23). Steve |
