242 | Can God be Understood? | Jer 9:24 | Searcher56 | 229208
God's day to you, Lionstrong, Isaiah 55:9 does not say we can not know, it is about how we think and how He thinks. We can never think like He does. J.I. Packer wrote an excellent book, Knowing God. While I think we will never know God fully till we get to Glory (1Co 13:12) ... I believe we need to learn more about Him. It is Epiginosko vice Ginosko. Searcher |

243 | flag dancing worship | Ex 15:20 | Searcher56 | 229207
God's day to you, Melody Friend, and welcome to the SBF, First, I think we need to define worship. read posts 179472 and 215242 (Enter the numbers under Search on the right side of the page). I don't think dancing is a form of worship. I believe it is praise (Psa 149:3, 150:4). When I studied worship in the Bible for 6 months ... I concluded that our heart is different when we worship and praise, as well as serve. I doubt anyone has been applauded for being prostrate before the Lord. For flags look up banner or standard that identified the tribe (Num 1:52; 2:2, 3, 10, 18, 25, 34) ... and used in warfare (Psa 60:4; Isa 5:26; 11:12; 13:2; 18:3; 30:17; Jer 4:6 21; Eze 27:7). I have not found a banner used for praise. Searcher |

244 | I don't understand why Jesus told the le | Matt 8:4 | Searcher56 | 229193
God's day to you, Carol, and welcome to the SBF, While healing was one of the proofs that He was the Messiah (Mat 11:2-5; Isa 35:5, 6; 61:1), it was not why He came, which was to preach (Mar 1:38). In context, After teaching (vv 21-22), he healed a man with an unclean spirit (vv 23-27). News got out and He healed many (vv 28-34). Again we see He was not permitting the demons to speak because they knew who He was. He went out to pray (vs 35) and when Simon, Inc. came to Him, He didn’t return to heal (vv 36-38). He didn't want people coming to be healed without belief (Mar 6:4-6). In Matthew we read about people'e belief (8:13; 9:2, 22, 28-29; 15:28; 17:19-20). If you continue reading Mark 1, you'll see the effect of healing. Searcher |

248 | Pharisees and Saducees | Matthew | Searcher56 | 229160
God's day to you, Aileen, Some more information There were two schools of thought ... the Jews were divided into "four sects," in the 1st century BC. -Pharisees. They were lay people, except for the Scribes. They inluded oral traditions and newer innovations. -Saducees. They were aristocracts and had relationships with the Romans. They followed the written Law. -Essenes. Didn't like P or S, so formed a new group, lived out in the desert (Qumran). May have written Dead Sea Scrolls. Qumran was abandoned in68, when there was an earthquake. -Zealots. Revolutionaries is the best term for them. We know Simon was a Zealot (Mar 3:18). The Zealots died at Masada in 73. Scripture ... Due 24:1-4; Mat 19:4-9; Mar 10:2-10; 1Co 7:10-16 ... God's day to you, saving my family, and welcome to the SBF, As far as I can remember there is only one passage the Bible that talks about a child or children who's parents were seperated or divorced (1Co 7:14). 254 | What does begotten mean on this verse? | Heb 1:5 | Searcher56 | 229119
God's day to you, Julia, In Genesis 22:2 God said, "Take now your son, your ONLY son, whom you love, Isaac" (emphasis mine. We know at the time Abraham also had another son, Ishmael (Gen 16:15, 16,17:23-26) and was called his son later (Gen 25:9,12). But remember, Jesus was not born to God the Father. The writer of Hebrews was inspired to quote what was already written (2Sa 7:14; Psa 2:7). Look at the context of all passages. Searcher |

258 | 3 levels of christianity | 2 Tim 2:15 | Searcher56 | 229072
God's day to you, bnabirye, One group that says there are 3 levels of Christianity is the Aggressive Christianity whih began in 1981. It was known then as "Free Love Ministries." Consistent with their adherence to the manifest Sons of God teaching, they also told a somewhat gnostic belief in three separate levels of Christianity; that is, that there are thirty-fold Christians (justification), sixty-fold Christians (santification), and hundred-fold Christians (glorification). Or alternately, as one long time member explained it, the thiry-fold Christians are those who are "merely" saved, sixty-fold Christians are those who speak in tongues and have the Baptism on the Holy Spirit, while hundred-fold Christians are the Overcomers, the Manifest Sons of God. And only those in this elite group are considered to be Sons of God and the Bride of Christ. Source: "1987 Information Paper". 259 | How is jacob the ancestor of a samaritan | John 4:12 | Searcher56 | 228239
God day to you, Lynnette, welcome to the SBF, Let me show you in the Bible, what Doc said. According to 2 Kings 17:6, "The king of Assyria captured Samaria (Northern Kingdom) and deported the Israelites to Assyria. He settled them in Halah, in Gozan on the Habor River and in the towns of the Medes." I have read He left some behind ... then brought others back, so the people were not "pure" Israelites, tho like the Samaritan woman point to Jacob as their ancestor. ... verse 24 says "The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Kuthah, Avva, Hamath and Sepharvaim and settled them in the towns of Samaria to replace the Israelites." ... in verse 27 priests were sent for relgious order. The Samaritans also claim the tribe of Levi. IMHO ... Assyria probably knew the South Kingdom (Judah) would not embrace the mixed group. John 4:9 says, "For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans." This could have started right away. Searcher |

God's day to you, Julia, Pardon the interruption. Many organizations do things that are commanded in the Bible, including the Russelites (An early name for the Jehovah's Witnesses) who witness. The answer to your question is YES, BUT. YES, they witness like Christians should ... BUT they are not believers. The are false witnesses. Searcher |
