221 | Isaiah 45:7 | Is 45:7 | Ray | 136496
Hi Lmaddox8, Number 118511 seems to be a well-respected answer to your question. Type that number in Search in the top right corner. That thread also suggests a comparison between Isaiah 45:7 and Proverbs 16:4-6. Isaiah 45:6, NKJ, "That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting that there is none besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other; 7 I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these [things]. Proverbs 16:4, NKJ, "The Lord has made all things for Himself, Yes even the wicked for the day of doom." These are good matches of Scripture to my mind. I chose the NKJ because of the number of pronouns; in other words, the One who forms light and creates darkness is the One who causes well-being and creates calamity. I chose the NKJ for Proverbs 16:4 because the Lord has made everything for (His) purpose, (see NASB marginal note); or as the NKJ says "for (Himself)". Even the wicked for the day of evil He has made for Himself. Other Scriptures that I looked at today are Galations 2:17 and Psalm 118:27. But I agree with Tim's post also, as I see that he has been thinking about these things today. From the heart, Ray |

222 | who does "His servant" refer to?? | Is 50:10 | Ray | 33229
Hi shuru, Welcome to the forum. I am a person that is interested in capitalization and would be one of the first to jump in to answer your question. The NKJ capitalizes (Servant) in this verse thus making it signifing Deity and most probably Jesus. I would agree with this as also does the Amplified version above. I think that a good verse to compare it to would be John 8:12, "Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the (Light) of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the Light of life." Parentheses are mine for comparison. Or Daniel 2:22, "It is (He) who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness And the light [Light] dwells with Him." So the answer to the question in the verse of your inquiry is "No one". There should be no Christian who would walk in darkness and have no light or knowledge. Jesus is the Light of the world and the Servant who gave His life for us. From the heart, Ray |

223 | Who is the "rich man?" | Is 53:9 | Ray | 79642
Hi mommapbs, I don't see Jesus as having much interest in monetary riches. I can see the connection in your thoughts. Actually, as far as my own personal study with pronouns of Deity is concerned these are direct comparisons; although I would see them as contrasts as far as looking at the Persons of the Trinity. You probably have no idea what I am talking about, but here are the connections that I would see in your Scripture references. Matthew 27:57, "a disciple of Jesus" Romans 10:12,13, "for 'Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord, will be saved.'" Ephesians 1:7, "...redemption through His blood..." I believe that we are rich in Him also as we study the mystery of His will. Ephesians 1:9,11. From the heart, Ray |

224 | I need scripture reguarding insecurity | Is 54:17 | Ray | 107542
Hi Born Witness, The following verse references were written out in a book called "Precious Bible Promises", Thomas Nelson Publishers. The copy I have is presented by Coral Ridge Ministries. The theme of the Bible Promises for your interest is "In Security" , pp. 112-115. I will type the references and write out the ones that might apply to your interest. These are in the NKJ. 1 John 4:4, "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." John 10:29 Jude 23-25, "Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the prescence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen." Romans 8:37-39, "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that..." Psalm 42:5, "Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance." Isaiah 25:9, "And it will be said in that day: "Behold, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation." Psalm 23:6 1 Peter 3:13, "And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good?" Isaiah 40:26 Philippians 1:6, "Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." Hebrews 10:35-36 Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Hebrews 13:6, "So we may boldly say: 'The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?'" Habakkuk 3:19 1 John 5:14-15 1 John 5:18 Isaiah 43:2, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you." Psalm 94:18, "If I say, 'My foot slips', Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up." 2 Peter 1:10, "Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble." Those are the Scriptures listed in the book "Precious Bible Promises". The introduction says, "Someone has said that there are more than thirty-seven thousand promises in the Word of God. Precious Bible Promises makes the most prominent of those readily available in a systematic form." Hope it helps. From the heart, Ray From the heart, Ray |

225 | why cant we understand all of god? | Is 55:8 | Ray | 66496
Hi annieb86, Your disregard for capitals and your typo concerning "god" show up the main reason people do not know/understand God. And just as His ways are higher than our ways, so His Name is higher.:) A look with a concordance at the word "know" is a good beginning I would think. I have written here somewhere in the forum about the tenses of the word know: know, knew, had known, would have known. Read the gospel of John if you want to learn about "knowing". John 7:28, 8:19, 14:17. We can't know "all about God" because we are also flesh, but the ones chosen by God who are "spiritually minded" will learn all that he/she will need to know. Best wishes for a good study for school. From the heart, Ray |

227 | MAY I SEE NOTES ON ISAIAH 61? | Is 61:1 | Ray | 17052
Hi PK Dan, I wonder if you received more notes and material from Nolan Keck. He mentioned Luke 4:18 and how it was fulfilled in Christ. Of course the NKJ also capitalizes "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me..." I wonder if any of his notes considered capitalizing Isaiah 61:10-62:2 also.
228 | Ephraim, first born son of God? | Is 64:8 | Ray | 94428
Hi tongsui, Jeremiah 31:2-14 are messianic kingdom conditions. I see Ephraim as a type of Christ in Jeremiah 31:9b. I like the NKJ for this passage of verses 7-9. Jeremiah 31:9, "...For I am a Father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn." Verse 7b gives the subject of the passage, "Proclaim, give praise, and say, 'O Lord, save Thy people, The remnant of Israel.'" The thing of importance for me to see is that He is a Father to us now, yes, even NOW. Isaiah 64:9, "Behold, look now, all of us are Thy people." Isaiah 64:8, "But NOW, O Lord, Thou art our Father [sic], We are the clay and Thou our potter; And ALL OF US are the work of Thy hand." The Lord will always have His remnant. From the heart, Ray |

229 | what was the Lord saying | Jer 1:16 | Ray | 17029
Hi apcowgirl, I can only highlight the things that I saw in the passage. Parentheses are mine for comparison. Jeremiah was chosen of God. l:5,"Before (I) formed you in the womb I knew you". And we see a case of "But God" in verse 7, "But the Lord said to me, "Do not say, 'I am a youth...'" He is told, "(I) am with you" and also, "Behold, I have put My words in your mouth." Then the (Lord) said to me, "You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it." Jeremiah is given a special task of speaking the word of the Lord; for "they have forsaken (Me) and have offered sacrifices to other gods, and worshiped the works of their own hands. So the word of the Lord came to him to proclaim in the ears of Jerusalem. God tells them to remember the past. About their following Him in the wilderness. How He brought them into the fruitful land, yet they did not know Him and walked after things that did not profit. Jer 2:11, "Has a nation changed gods, When they were not gods? But (My) people have changed their glory For that which does not profit." Jer 2:17, "Have you not done this to yourself, By your forsaking the Lord your God, When He led you in the way?" Verse 19, "And the dread of (Me) is not in you..."and "The stain of your iniquity is before Me,..." They worship other gods and "say to a tree, 'You are my father,' And to a stone, 'You gave me birth.' For they have turned their back to (Me),..." Yet their gods can not save. Jer 2:32, "Can a virgin forget her ornaments, Or a bride her attire? Yet (My) people have forgotten Me Days without number." Chapter three opens with hope, ..."Yet you turn to Me*, declares the Lord." Verse 4, "Have you not just now called to Me, "My (Father)..." and verse 7, "I thought, 'After she has done all these things she will return to Me';..." Verse 10 "Yet in spite of all this here treacherous sister Judah did not return to (Me) with all her heart,..." "Only acknowledge your iniquity, That you have transgressed against the Lord your (God)...and I will bring you to Zion." Jer 3:19b, "And I said, 'You shall call Me, "My (Father), And not turn away from following Me." Jer 4:22 "Return, O faithless sons, I will heal your faithlessness.""Behold, we come to You; For You are the (Lord) our God." Jer 4:1 "If you will return, O Israel,"declares the Lord, "Then you should return to (Me)." So I would say that the Lord loves us still, even though sinners and that He wants Israel and Judah and us to return to Him. Remember that God gave Jeremiah the words and He can give you the words also. Later, Ray |

231 | Jeremiah 25:1-14 , 29:1-23,Daniel 9:1-27 | Jer 25:3 | Ray | 65049
Hi Dalcia, I don't know what you mean by "reinterpret" but I can give you what I see as reoccuring themes for the passages. Jeremiah 24:10, "And (I) will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence upon them until they are destroyed from the land which I gave to them and their forefathers." Jeremiah 25:3, "...these twenty three years the word of the Lord has come to me, and I [Jeremiah] have spoken to you again and again, but you have not listened. And the Lord has sent to you all His servants the prophets again and again, but you have not listened nor inclined your ear to hear,...dwell on the land which the Lord has given you... and do not go after other gods to serve them and to worship them, and do not provoke Me/ to anger... and I will do you no harm. Yet you have not listened to Me", declares the (Lord)... 1)Over and over again, and they do not listen. 2)The Lord has sent all His/ prophets again and again. 3)And they provoke Me/ to anger with the work of your hands. 4) Yet you have not listened to Me, declares the (Lord). Because they did not listen to the words of Jeremiah, which were actually the words of the Lord, the Lord was angry. When He is angry He sends the sword, the famine, and the pestilence. Jeremiah 25:30, "...He will roar mightily agains (His) fold. Jeremiah 25:37, "And the peaceful folds are made silent because of the fierce anger of the (Lord)." Jeremiah 25:10, "Moreover, (I) will take from them the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp." Jer 27:8; Jer 29:17, "thus says the Lord/ of host, Behold, I am sending upon them the sword, famine, and pestilence, and I will make them like split-open figs... and (I) will pursue them with the sword, with famine and with pestilence..." This anger is because they have not listened to His words. Jeremiah 29:19, "because they have not listened to My words,' declares the Lord, 'which I sent to them again and again by My/servants the prophets; but you did not listen,' declares the Lord." Jer 26:5, "to listen to the words of My/ servants the prophets, whom I have been sending to you again and again, but you have not listened; then I will make this house like Shiloh, and this city (I) will make a curse to all the nations of the earth." In all of this there is the possibility of the Lord changing His mind about the misfortune which He has pronounced. See Jer 26:13 and 19. Jer 24:10, "(I) will send the sword." Jer 25:37, "...anger of the (Lord). Jer 29:20, "You, therefore, hear the word of the Lord, all you exiles, whom (I) have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon." Jeremiah 29:23, "because they have acted foolishly in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and have spoken words in My/ name falsely, which I did not command them; and I am (He) who knows, and am a witness," declares the Lord." I hope this gets you started. Good luck with Daniel; I'm out of room.:)) From the heart, Ray |

Hi Buckeyes#1, Welcome to the forum. I typed in the word "plans" in the box under Bible in the right hand column of this page. Clicking on Search, the computer gave me 25 occurances of the word plans and Jer 29:11 was the last one listed on the second page. Now if you want some reading for the afternoon, may I suggest typing in "plans" or Jer 29:11 in the box at the top of the column under Quick Search. I hope all of this helps. From the heart, Ray |

233 | significance | Jer 33:3 | Ray | 74322
Hi thetowns, I was considering your Scripture references and looking at the NASB. You might notice from glancing above that the NASB has "and I will tell you", thus including one more pronoun. Comparing Jeremiah 33:3 with John 16:13-15 will give you something to reflect on. I don't know if we can know which Person is referenced because we have a "blend" of our triune God here. Jeremiah 33:3, "Call to Me..." John 16:13, "But whatever He hears..." Jeremiah 33:3, "and I will answer you,..." John 16:13, "He will speak..." Jeremiah 33:3, "and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know." John 16:13, "and He will disclose to you what is to come." I believe that it is important to have the right number of pronouns of Deity. At any rate, it gives us something (and all things) to consider. John 16:15, "All things that the Father has are (Mine); therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you." From the heart, Ray |

234 | Comments wanted on Jer 34:13-20 | Jer 34:18 | Ray | 87215
Hi Mommapbs, I agree that the comparison of Jeremiah 34:18 when they cut the calf in two and Genesis 15:10 where all those animals were brought to Him and were cut in two is appropriate and noteworthy. I believe that another comparison of interest is Jeremiah 34:12 and Genesis 15:1. Here we read that "the word of the Lord came to" both Jeremiah and Abram respectively. It is important that when we have heard the word of the Lord that we obey Him and continually incline our ears to Him, Jeremiah 34:14. It is important also to be not only hearers but doers of the word. An appropriate reference in my Study Bible for your verse is Romans 2:8, "but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation." The breakers of covenants were to expect wrath, indignation, and judgment. Romans 2:2, "And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things. And do you suppose, O man, when you pass judgment upon those who practice such things, and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God?" Romans 3:6 says that God will judge the world and Romans 2:16 says that God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus. You have quoted Jeremiah 34:16, where they have "turned and profaned My name". Could we not as Christians today apply this Scripture to our lives? If we have heard the word of the Lord and know what is expected of us let us do it, and continue to do it. If we know His will we need to teach others and teach ourselves so that we do not turn and profane His name. Romans 2:18-21 and Jeremiah 34:16. From the heart, Ray |

235 | What is the significance of the wheels? | Ezek 10:9 | Ray | 66890
Hi Echo, "Anything will help." OK then, here is my spin on the wheels. I would have you study Ezekiel 1:12, 20, and 21 for the five words of power in the NKJ. If you use the NASB you will have to include Ezekiel 10:17. Then compare them with 1 Corinthians 14:19. Also compare Ezekiel with the five words of power found in 1 Corinthians 4:20-6:17. I've tried to find the post where I talked about Ezekiel but didn't find it, sorry. |

236 | Clean Heart | Ezek 11:1 | Ray | 140999
Hi Edwardeddy2, Emmaus has given you Ezekiel 11 to compare to Psalm 5l. The Lord God in Ezekiel 11:19 says, "And I shall give them one heart, and shall put a new spirit within them." Psalm 51:10 literally means "Create *for me a clean heart, O God." Our part is shown in Ezekiel 11 in the context of God telling them (us also) to "walk in My statutes and My ordinances". See verses 12 and 20. Our part can be seen in Ezekiel 18:31. Ezekiel 18:31, "Cast away from you all your transgressions which you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! For why will you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies, declares the Lord God. Therefore, repent and live." From the heart, Ray |

237 | Where does YLT say "God will be judged | Ezek 20:5 | Ray | 141699
Hi Steve, The Young's Literal Translation has for Ezekiel 20:35, 36 a declaration of the Lord Jehovah. Ezek 20:35, YLT, "And I have brought you into the wilderness of the peoples, And have been judged with you there face to face. 36 As I was judged with your fathers, In the wilderness of the land of Egypt, So I am judged with you, an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah." This "seems" to say that God will be judged along with the people. Indeed it does say that, and I would not agree. I would not agree with the NKJ in their saying that it would be necessary that His case should be pleaded. I go with the NASB for Ezekiel 20:35,36. 1) I didn't say that 1 Corinthians 10:9 "fit" with the idea of God being judged or tried. But the passage "fits" in that when the people were judged, "with most of them God was not pleased". In other words, they were not counted as belonging to Him. From the heart, Ray |

238 | is there something that I am missing? | Ezek 34:2 | Ray | 139051
Hi nickycan1, The point that I like to make in my posts is that Jesus is God. That He came in the likeness of men, but is the Man, Jesus Christ. He is a shepherd who feeds us and cares for us, but He is the Shepherd. So, you see, I have a preocupation with capitalization of Deity. Perhaps you will not have much interest in all of this because you are not concerned with capitalization at all. Ezekiel 34 talks of "My flock" and so I think that verses 5, 8, and even verse 12 should have a capitalized Shepherd. In verse 23 we see the introduction of the one shepherd [sic], "My servant David, and he will feed them; he will feed them himself and be their shepherd." So you see, we are men, but God is God. Ezekiel 34:31, "As for you, My sheep, the sheep of My pasture, you are men, and I am your God," declares the Lord God." From the heart, Ray |

239 | How to know deeper depth of Daniel | Daniel | Ray | 24046
Hi With Love, A couple verses of Daniel dealing with Nebuchadnezzar have been discussed here on the forum. Quick search Daniel 2:47. There are indeed some "deep" things in the book of Daniel. He was a revealer of mysteries was he not. However, Daniel 2:30 says, "But as for me, this mystery has not been revealed to me for any wisdom residing in me more than in any other living man,..." The real depth is in the things of God. He is the ultimate revealer of mysteries. In fact in John 4:25 the woman at the well "said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us." Daniel 2:47, "The king answered Daniel and said, "Surely your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a *revealer of mysteries, since you have been able to reveal this mystery." I found Daniel to be interesting in the fact that he possessed an extraordinary spirit (sic). See Daniel 6:3. Daniel 5:12, "This was because an extraordinary spirit, knowledge and insight, interpretation of dreams, explanation of enigmas, and solving of difficult problems were found in Daniel, whom the king called Belteshazzar." Besides this extraordinary spirit of Daniel I believe that the Spirit of God was in him. For that reason I go to the NKJ for much of the capitalization clues for understanding the book. Daniel 5:11, "There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the Spirit of the Holy God. And in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him..." NKJ I hope you get to know more deeply "the One who is able" by your study of the book of Daniel. Later, Ray |

240 | "son of God" vs. "son of Man" | Daniel | Ray | 131700
Hi LookN4luv, The son of man seems to be the one who speaks the words of God. Ezekiel 2:5 says that "they will know that a prophet has been among them." Ezekiel 2:7, "But you shall speak (My) words to them, whether they listen or not, for they are rebellious." Ezek 2:4, "Then He said to me, "Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with (My) words to them." Jeremiah 15:16, "Thy words were found and I ate them, And (Thy) words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart." John 8:47, "He who is of God hears the words of (God); for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God." The prophets spoke the words of God, but the Prophet, the Man Jesus Christ spoke the words of God and is known as the Son of Man. God is not a son of man that He should change His mind. If He has spoken, will He not do it? From the heart, Ray |
