721 | Did Jesus die spiritually? | 2 Cor 5:21 | Mommapbs | 83101
Greetings Weatfields! I disagree with Searcher. If the penalty for sin is death - what kind of death are we talking about? Spiritual death - or separation from God. When Christ prayed before His crucifixion, asking the Father if it was possible for "this cup to pass" Mt 26:39 - what was He really asking? Certainly not for His physical life to be sparred! I believe that He was asking God if there was any other way for Them to bring reconciliation to sinful mankind apart from the process of experiencing the penalty for sin - spiritual death or separation from God. Also, why would Jesus cry out, "My God, why have You forsaken me" if He was not experiencing this? Did not Jesus taste death for us, so that we would not have to? Hebrews 2:9 |

722 | Would you consider Ps 22 | 2 Cor 5:21 | Mommapbs | 83395
IT IS AND WAS FINISHED! What was finished? The penalty for sin - the wrath of God against sin was satisfied by Jesus on the cross. He is our perfect sacrifice! Although unregenerate man is "dead" to God spiritually, he need not remain that way - this is the offer of GRACE, getting what we don't deserve and MERCY, not getting what we do deserve! However, God's WRATH remains as a certain reality for those who reject His salvation. Psalm 22:31 - "They will come and will declare His righteousness To a people who will be born, that He has performed it." Indeed HE has performed it! mommapbs |

723 | Unequally Yoked? | 2 Cor 6:14 | Mommapbs | 76727
Greetings Sarah H. The very next verse answers your question. 2 Cor 6:15 says, "Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?" Oneness in Christ is not dependent upon doctrinal differences. But this is not to say that doctrinal differences may be difficult to overcome . . . check out the Forum, I can't imagine being married to some of the respondants here! We would be arguing theology every waking moment, and there are much better things to do in a marriage than argue, don't you agree? Can two walk together unless they be agreed? (Amos 3:3) If this is a personal consideration for you, I suggest that you seek objective spiritual counselling. This means to find a Pastor or a trained Christian therapist that is independent of both partner's denominations. They can offer you insight into how to deal with your theological differences and help you to determine if these differences would be roadblocks to a successful relationship. Blessings, mommapbs |

724 | Is God against interacial marriage? | 2 Cor 6:14 | Mommapbs | 145153
Greetings RubyAnn! Kalos offered this post in a previous question about marriage. I don't think that God had in mind interracial marrige here - for there is no distinction between pepoles with Him other than some are saved sinners and some are lost sinners! "Can people who follow the Lord have anything in common with those who don't?" 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 The Message (MSG) 2 Corinthians 6 14 Don't become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That's not partnership; that's war. Is light best friends with dark? 15 Does Christ go strolling with the Devil? Do trust and mistrust hold hands? Contemporary English Version (CEV) 2 Corinthians 6 14 Stay away from people who are not followers of the Lord! Can someone who is good get along with someone who is evil? Are light and darkness the same? 15 Is Christ a friend of Satan? Can people who follow the Lord have anything in common with those who don't? New Living Translation (NLT) 2 Corinthians 6 14 Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can goodness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? 15 What harmony can there be between Christ and the Devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? mommapbs continues: This principle was in effect in the Old Testament as well as Israel was warned not to intermarry with those outside of Israel or non-believers. 725 | different religions | 2 Cor 6:14 | Mommapbs | 151030
Greetings naenae33. Input 2 Cor 6:14 in the Questions/Notes on Verse field in the upper left box of this page. You will find lots of discussion on this topic. Believers are sometimes called the Bride of Christ and for a good reason; God uses the illustration of marriage to help us understand what our relationship to Him is supposed to be. Prayerfully consider what God is saying here. mommapbs |

726 | where can this scripture be found? | 2 Cor 6:17 | Mommapbs | 48888
Greetings Kingskid! Isn't it strange how some people look at you like you have two heads when you begin to discuss or talk about the Lord Jesus?! Why can we be extreme fans of sports figures (which is allowed and encouraged) and lower our voice when we express our love of the only One who is a TRUE HERO? Funny how the first is called a "fan" and the second is labeled a "fanatic!" But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 1 Cor. 2:14 Read the entire chapter for a complete understanding of this verse. How privileged we are, as believers, to possess the Mind of Christ! Blessings in the Truth of His Word, Mommapbs |

727 | Tithing... | 2 Cor 9:7 | Mommapbs | 34506
Greetings Clay! Yes indeed this subject has been "hashed and thrashed." You will find some excellent posts under the notes on this verse as well as using the "search feature" on tithing. "Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." I believe that according to this verse, the Lord is more concerned about the attitude of your heart rather than the amount that you give. Remember is ALL belongs to him anyway! Blessings in Jesus! 728 | TITHING: for the Gentile Church too? | 2 Cor 9:7 | Mommapbs | 101581
Greetings! God is more concerned about what is in your heart than what you put in the offering plate! This topic has been previously discussed. Input the word "tithe" or try "tithing" in the "quick search" field - many have responded to this question. Blessings, mommapbs PS: It is always wise to search the archives for answers first, before you post a question to the Forum! |

729 | Should Christians Tithe Today? | 2 Cor 9:7 | Mommapbs | 109756
Greetings and welcome to the Forum. Please use the Quick Search feature to read the posts on tithing. This question has been asked and discussed time and time again. It is a good idea to search the archives before you post a question. Jesus said, "render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's." Mt 22:21 Blessings, mommapbs |

730 | tithing only to home church? | 2 Cor 9:7 | Mommapbs | 112373
Greetings leonore! Welcome to the Body of Christ. This topic has been discussed many times on the Forum. Enter titing into the Quick Search field to read some of the posts. In answer to your question, the amount you give is not as important as your attitude about giving - God owns it all anyway - He gives us the opportunity to not only bless others by what He has given us, but for us to be blessed by our giving as well. Certainly, it is honoring God to support the "physical" church where you worship and are fed, but I personally believe that the church is not limited to those four walls! As the Lord directs, give . . . And I encourage you to answer to HIM only! What you give is between you and the Lord, not the administration of your local church! I would also caution you to be wary of those who criticize or try to control you in this area. In Christ, mommapbs |

731 | what is the real love in the word of God | 2 Cor 10:5 | Mommapbs | 37376
Greetings Frank! I am not following your line of questioning on this thread. But here are some Scriptures for you to THINK upon! Perhaps, these are some weapons to employ when under spiritual attack. The devil just delights when his efforts cause us to doubt the love of God - His very essence! "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love." 1 John 4:7-8 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 Without God, we can not love. Jesus tells us that the greatest commandment is to LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD . . . (Matthew 22:37-38) Jesus tells us what God wants. Jesus is God's expression of love. We receive that Love as our expression of Love for God! How amazing that He would give us the ability to love Him - to choose to be obedient to His command! Since God has given us the means to obey Him (Jesus) no one is without excuse! Everything is of Him, by Him, and through Him - and He loves us so much that He would give His love to us to return to Him! Blessings, Mommapbs |

732 | Searching for the truth | 2 Cor 11:14 | Mommapbs | 77629
Greetings FytRobert! Yes, Satan is a creation of God, yet because of his rebellion against the Authority and Sumpremacy of God, he lost his position in God's creation. Satan is angry and is responding as such against God and those who love Him. There are many excellent posts in the archives of the Forum. Just type in Satan in the "quick search" field. You will find Scriptural references that will direct you to discover the truth about this evil angel. (PS: Rev 12:12 Satan is a defeated foe; and because he knows that his time is short - before the final judgement of God, we are witnessing an increase in his activity throughout the world that will culminate in the emergence of a person the Bible calls the anti-christ.) I hope this helps in your quest. Praying for you. mommapbs |

733 | Can you please explain LUKE 22:38 | 2 Cor 12:9 | Mommapbs | 100638
Greetings! Interesting verse - I'm trying to place myself in the disciples shoes - Jesus has told of His betrayal; Peter asserts that he would die for the Lord so perhaps they were all focused on human solutions to a problem only God can solve! Anyway, this verse came to mind as a possible answer! May it bless you. mommapbs |

734 | references on obtaining peace | 2 Cor 13:11 | Mommapbs | 49772
Greetings humbled2serve! I find that when I get to the "end of my rope" it is best to let go of it, reach out and grab hold of the Lord's outstretched hand! Jesus said: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27 The Lord gives us the marraige relationship to teach us about Himself - He is the perfect partner - how far short we fall from Him Holy standard with one another. A good marriage depends upon not only mutual love, but trust as well. With Jesus at the center of your (marital) realtionship there CAN be unity and therefore there CAN be peace - HIS PEACE! Ephesians 4:32 instructs us to "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Forgiveness is the harbinger of peace. Remember, the strongest prison bars are made of unforgiveness. Are you living in the freedom that Jesus offers? I hope these verses give you some assurance of His presence in your situation! Blessings, Mommapbs |

737 | What happened to following 1 Cor.14 | Gal 3:3 | Mommapbs | 148222
Greetings Bobby Conner - our adversary likes it this way and we like dumb (pun intended) sheep follow right along. . . believing that only one person has a direct line to God. Yet believers all possess the same Spirit - we all have acess to the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16). Ignorance, complacency, deception, arrogance and pride all feed this mentality that results in this model. No denomination is responsible; we all are. I believe that God continues to speak through His servants today, but never in a way that is inconsistant with His written Word.imo, unbelief is the thief in our midst here. mommapbs |

738 | What happened to following 1 Cor.14 | Gal 3:3 | Mommapbs | 148224
Follow-up thought: generally what we hear from our pulpits is an accumulation of God speaking through many sources. Our preachers (hopefully) begin with God's written Word and then study, using various tools as well as the thoughts and writings of others on the specific text. So you see, in a way, we do follow the model of 1 Cor 14. We are not all in the same place but we can "hear" what God has said to different people across the ages at the same time. . . mommapbs |

740 | how is the flesh ignored more than devil | Gal 5:19 | Mommapbs | 62535
Greetings Warrior2 and welcome to the Forum! The scripture you cite gives the answer. The practices of the flesh are obvious - they are the responses that we make with our sinful nature; they are not glorifying to God. It is necessary that we learn how to avoid sin. Thankfully God's Word instructs us. We keep our lives pure before God by holding fast to His Word! Ps 119:9 Since the devil is such a sneaky adversary, it is important to be aware of the ways in which he attacks believers. Eph 6:11 instructs us to put on the whole armor of God so that we may be able to withstand his schemes. The world is often a means by which we turn away from God. All too often we seek to have our needs met there rather than from Him. The devil cleverly entices us from the world. This is where the he takes aim. We should heed the warnings about him in God's Word. "Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." 1 Peter 5:8 See also Eph 4:22; 1 John 2:16, 2 Cor 2:9-11. Hope this helps! Blessings, Mommapbs |
