662 | how long did God allow Job to suffer? | Rom 8:18 | Mommapbs | 109027
Greetings angelgirl! God allowed Job to suffer to accomplish His plan and purpose - that Job might know God through it. "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees You;" Job 42:5 (See Job 42:1-10.) To me, the length of time is insignificant but the outcome is what is important. When God removes a suffering, it demonstrates His sumpremacy. When God allows a suffering to remain, it demonstrates His sufficiency. There have been periods of suffering in my life that I thought would never end. Sometimes it was physical, other times it was emotional and more recently, it has been spritual. But through each of these experiences, I have grown closer to God and would not trade any of them! The secret to suffering is praise. I know it is a hard thing, but you can rejoice in the midst of suffering - we can ALWAYS praise and give thanks for Jesus! I hope this helps! mommapbs |

663 | Is God obliged by the prayer of faith? | Rom 8:28 | Mommapbs | 68431
Psalm 143:1 says, "Hear my prayer, O LORD, Give ear to my supplications! Answer me in Your faithfulness, in Your righteousness!" This is an interesting concept to consider: God answers our prayers because of HIS faithfulness and righteousness, not because of anything we have done to deserve an answer. Just musing . . . . mommapbs |

664 | Mr. Perkins' Website/Chart | Rom 8:30 | Mommapbs | 129638
Greetings Country Girl - Perhaps Mr Perkins left the "action of baptism" out because it is not a "vital step in the Salvation process." (Eph 2:8-9) The issue of baptism has been discussed SO many times on this Forum and people are rarely moved from their perspective . . . perhaps if anyone is interested in this subject they could be directed to the archives. 665 | What's up with the italics in vs. 23? | Rom 9:23 | Mommapbs | 86664
Greetings Whitewave - I've just read through this thread and although I am no scholar and have no background in all this translation stuff, if God has set this desire in your heart, then you will be blessed in pursuing it. This morning, my focus has been on the sovereignty of God and that we are God's possession. (God spoke to Jeremiah saying, "I have made the earth, the men and the beasts which are on the face of the earth by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and I will give it to the one who is pleasing in My sight." Jer 23:5) I believe these truths rings loudly in Romans 9. In verses 14-21, the question of God's "right" is already asked and established, so to translate as the NASB has done does not seem (to me anyway) to change the underlying premise, and supports the stated purpose of God which I believe Paul presumes the reader, (remember he is writing to Jews,) knows. As I read this passage I am reminded that mercy without justice is not mercy. To me, these verses underscore God's sovereignty and purpose in dealing with mankind. v 22: "What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? v 23: And (what if)He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, Paul asks a rhetorical question of sorts akin to "So what if God chose to . . . so what if God - this is as much to say, SO WHAT? . . . So, should the pot ask the Potter why did you make me this way? SO WHAT! Since we all have a burning desire to know WHY? (Which of course can only be answered by WHO?) I suspect the NASB translators took a "liberty" of sorts - one that you have questioned. However, to me, it is supported by the premise of God's sovereignty in this statement "I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I HAVE MERCY, AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON WHOM I HAVE COMPASSION." (Romans 9:15) and His purpose throughout Scripture to reconcile mankind back to Himself. Ponder these things. Know also that if these translators have erred, they will be held accountable by God - let's not usurp His authority. Our responsibility is to seek the Truth and that is found in a PERSON - Jesus. May this endeavor draw you closer to Him. mommapbs |

667 | Apostles | Rom 10:15 | Mommapbs | 77148
I found this site for you to consider: www.bibleblast.net/wh_apostle.htm Now I know in certain denominations that there are those who claim to hold the "office" of apostle, but I struggle with the lack of Scriptural support for this moniker. However, I do not believe that the "gifts" have ceased! As for one who has seen the Lord, yes, I do know such a man, but he does not consider himself to be an Apostle of the Biblical order. An apostle is defined as one who has been sent on a mission, perhaps you, my friend, could qualify? Blessings, mommapbs |

668 | "Romans Road" type verses in the OT | Rom 11:8 | Mommapbs | 86681
Greetings! While your zealous desire for Israel is commendable, please be reminded that YOU can show them nothing. If God has blinded them to the truth of the Gospel, even if you share their Scriptures with them, they will not be convinced that Jesus is THE Messiah! As you study the relationship of God with Israel and the requirements He set forth for them to follow, YOU, as a believer, will see the thread of Christ that has been woven into their history. I encourage you to dig into the Old Testament, asking God to reveal Christ to you there. Then, as the Lord leads, share what you have observed with those HE is drawing! (Dt 4:29; 1 Chr 28:9; Jer 29:13) mommapbs |

669 | Whose diobedience? | Rom 11:30 | Mommapbs | 143939
Greetings seedling - Paul is addressing believers here - (in their former unbelief - or rejection of God) they were disobedient and were shown mercy because of Israel's disobedience (rejection of God). The previous verses attest to this - Gentile nations are the wild olive branch that has been grafted in - the branches that have been broken off reference unbelieving Israel. See also Romans 9:25 The good news is that Israel will one day be grafted back in as promised in v 31 - God's response to us - showing us mercy in our disobedience will be the example to Israel. Our God is awesome - His mercy is beyond compare! mommapbs |

670 | how do i overcome my negative feelings. | Rom 12:2 | Mommapbs | 110023
Greetings! Replace your negative feelings with the promises found in God's Word - this is "renewing the mind" - we must change the way we think first. You recognize negative feelings, good, now you can start to replace those negative feelings with positive truths from God's Word. Read through the Psalms and rephrase what you read back to God ALOUD. I think it is important to hear your own voice. As you noted in Isa, the Lord will remove the yoke, but He also wants to replace it with His own! Mt 11:30. So when you find yourself wearing the wrong yoke, exchange it! mommapbs |

672 | If we love God ,we should give tithes | Rom 12:19 | Mommapbs | 132240
Greetings childofGod2! This verse tells of one way we "rob" God. Basically, we rob God when we try to take anything that "belongs" to Him! Blessings, mommapbs |

673 | God place people in political positions? | Rom 13:1 | Mommapbs | 73232
"By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice." Proverbs 8:15 God is sovereign over all but He also allows us to reap what we sow! As Christ followers, I believe that we have a responsibility to elect people to governing positions who will most closely honor God's laws. |

674 | Did our foreparents have to stay? | Rom 13:1 | Mommapbs | 74795
Searcher, is there a law that says that we must stay under the dominion of the prince of this world or are we free to place our allegiance with the King of Kings? I agree with brother Hank who recently wrote that we all have the opportunity to "choose whom you will serve." (Jos 24:15) I suspect our forefathers felt the same way. Blessings, mommapbs |

675 | Is a state marriage recognised by God? | Rom 13:1 | Mommapbs | 83538
I like the Amphlified version of Romans 13:1 - LET EVERY person be loyally subject to the governing (civil) authorities. For there is no authority except from God [by His permission, His sanction], and those that exist do so by God's appointment. See also Prov. 8:15. What do you think the answer is according to this verse? mommapbs |

676 | The church responsible for heinous acts? | Rom 14:11 | Mommapbs | 31193
Rom 14:12 "So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God" Vanagon: religions are not responsible for the heinous acts of history or today. Neither can we blame "churches." God's Word tells us that individuals are responsible and held accountable for their actions, good or bad. In a concert, instruments playing in unison have a "common voice" and the melody is easily identified. So it is with wicked hearts! When they unite, the results will also be easily recognized. But each heart has choice in this "concert" - to play or not! Why are you are focusing your attention on these things? God is in charge of judgement! Nothing escapes the eyes of God, all will have to give an account to HIM! It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. (Hebrews 10:31) We learn in Genesis: "Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." (Genesis 6:5) God's response to the wickedness of man was The Flood. This should serve as a warning! However, the Flood was only a "blip" on the radar screen when it is compared to the wrath of God that will be poured out against all wickedness during the Great Tribulation. (see The Revelation for a detailed description!) |

Greetings Vanagon: Please respond to Hank's request which you will find in "Questions that are Unanswered." I agree that this information will enable Forum participants to understand you better and provide appropriate answers. Thanks! 678 | Deterring one's walk with Christ | Rom 14:13 | Mommapbs | 112388
Greetings! IN Christ, there is no distinction - we are all one in Him (Gal 3:28) The admontion that Paul offers in Romans is applicable to everyone and is not limited to the marital realtionship. See what Jesus says about stumbling blocks in Luke 17:1. I hope this helps answer whatever you are struggling with! Blessings, mommapbs |

Greetings Ray. Yes, I see the your point in capitalizing the word servant. Is "David" referencing believing Jews? Then, now or in the future? Also, I just responded to a question and used John 10:30 "I and the Father are one." Should one be One? mommapbs |
