221 | Moses was afraid.... | Ex 3:4 | Mommapbs | 111692
Greetings! If Moses was afraid, would he have gone to investigate the burning bush? Would he have answered when God called? Perhaps he was more afraid of NOT answering. We would do well to learn from his example. mommapbs |

222 | The term for God who sent him in Exodus | Ex 3:14 | Mommapbs | 30924
One of the best answers I heard on this question is so appropriate for even today. God told Moses to tell the children of Israel that "I AM sent you." God did not say, "I WAS;" nor did He say "I WILL BE." He said "I AM" because HE IS WHATEVER YOU NEED HIM TO BE AT THIS VERY MOMENT! Blessings to you! Mommapbs |

223 | hardened heart | Ex 7:13 | Mommapbs | 86666
Romans 9:17 says: "FOR THIS VERY PURPOSE I RAISED YOU UP, TO DEMONSTRATE MY POWER IN YOU, AND THAT MY NAME MIGHT BE PROCLAIMED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE EARTH." God is sovereing over all (Jer 23:5) We are HIS possession and He may do with us as HE chooses. I have seen the hearts of Christians hardened, yet the outcome was to bring about what GOD had purposed. Hardness of heart is not always a "bad" thing. It is when our hearts are hardened toward GOD that we enter into rebellion. mommpabs |

224 | cut off | Ex 12:15 | Mommapbs | 76618
Greetings Elder. I read your question last PM and have thought long on this. After reveiwing other instances of these words in Scripture, I see two things. First of all, the grave and serious response of God to sin and secondly, the penalty for sin that was laid upon Jesus. (Dan 9:26; 2 Cor 5:21) I hope that this brings a sense of praise and thnaksgiving to you as you recall God's marvelous gift of Grace today, for "Therefore there is now no condemnation (no cutting off!) for those who are in Christ Jesus." - Romans 8:1 Blessings, mommapbs |

225 | what event was labeled the provocation? | Ex 17:7 | Mommapbs | 87599
Greetings ricachief! Welcome to the Forum. In what translation are you reading "the provocation?" In consulting the information about Psalm 95:8 it refers to the rebellion of Israel against God, not only of His provision, but of His very presence in their midst. Do we not challenge Him in the same way today? I rpaise God for His compassion, His lovingkindness and His patience! Blessings, mommapbs |

226 | What does the Bible say about Addictions | Ex 20:3 | Mommapbs | 46468
God says, "You shall have no other gods before Me." Exodus 20:3 Anything that takes the place of God in our life is an idol. Because an addiction is something one depends upon, anything we depend upon apart from God can be identified as an idol. I hope this puts things into perspective for you - just answering this question made me think of some "idols" I have to tear down! Thanks! Mommapbs |

227 | Is saturday the day we are to observe th | Ex 20:8 | Mommapbs | 103355
Greetings! Here's a great post from EdB for you to consider: We know from Genesis 2:3 on the seventh day God rested and sanctified the day so I think everyone will agree the seventh day is the Sabbath. Now which day is the seventh day of the week? Saturday or Sunday? For that answer we have to use some reasoning. Easter is celebrated by tradition on the Sunday. And Matt 28:1 tells us that Jesus rose on the first day of the week so Sunday must be the first day of the week making the seventh Saturday. Now the next question you will ask is why doesn’t the Christian church keep the Sabbath on Saturday instead of Sunday? First in the Christian church Sunday is not the Sabbath but rather of day of fellowship and rejoicing the resurrection of our savior. The reason we do not keep the Saturday Sabbath is because Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath and by honoring Him on His day Sunday we also honor the Sabbath. Besides Paul told us in many places not to get hung up on the day, more important is the our heart than which day we worship. Hope this helps EdB Mommapbs writes: As Christ-followers, Sunday, the first day of the week, is significant because it was on this day that Christ rose from the dead. Also, it was on the first day of the week that Jesus appeared to the disciples in the upper room, with a greeting that many fellowships extend to one another during corporate worship today: "Peace be with you" ! John 20:19 Blessings on your day! mommapbs |

228 | Pologomy Allowed? | Ex 21:10 | Mommapbs | 102402
Greetings Tim! Gen 4:19 is the first mention of pologamy. Note however, the lineage from which it sprang! I wonder why there in no mention of a woman having more than one husband (except for Lot and his incestous girls!) . . . I guess one man is all a woman is able to bear!! Blessings, mommapbs |

230 | ethics of church | Ex 28:41 | Mommapbs | 109821
Greeetings Wilbo - I'm not quite sure what you are looking for here, but as I was searching the web, I came across a site that promoted immediate ordination for basically anyone. A self-proclaimed minister is quite a departure from God-directed ordination as described in Exodus. Most ministers are seminary trained - these graduates have "passed inspection" and are ordained by those who have examined their faith. See Tit 1:5 - Elders were appointed, not self proclaimed. Blessings, mommapbs PS: I suspect that you may be struggling with accountability issues here. We are to be accountable unto each other. Sadly, in churches where the Pastor is a rule unto himself, when conflicts or disagreements arise, there is no "higher authority" to mediate the issue. |

231 | What kind of bib type are the gibeonites | Ex 34:12 | Mommapbs | 123863
Greetings and welcome to the Forum. The problem was that the Israelites disobeyed God by making a treaty with the Gibeonites. There were consequences to their sin. IMO, I don't see the Gibeonites in the same category as Rahab. "But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall come about that those whom you let remain of them will become as pricks in your eyes and as thorns in your sides, and they will trouble you in the land in which you live."Num 33:55 Rahab was never a thorn in Israelite's side, but in fact she was part of the lineage of Christ. 233 | Hebrews - Leviticus, sacrifices in gen. | Lev 17:11 | Mommapbs | 136338
Greetings Big O -Reading in Leviticus, we learn about all the sacrifices the Israelites were required to make. There sure were a lot of dead animals! I understood the necessity of blood – “for without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness,” Hebrews 9:22 - but I did not understand how these offerings could be “a pleasing aroma unto the Lord,” Leviticus 4:31. I’ve smelled burning flesh, and I would never describe it as an “aroma.” I’ve also smelled death; it is anything but pleasing! To me, the stench of death is repulsive; yet what I was reading in Leviticus prompted me to ask, “Why is death an attractive fragrance to God?” I found the answer given in a devotional, by Tommy Tenney called "The Daily Chase." “For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task?” II Corinthians 2:15-16 What was the “aroma of Christ?” It was His death! To God, the smell of death is pleasing; I finally understood why God required so much blood! The penalty for sin is death and "the Life is in the blood." Something had to die, for "without the shedding of blood (death) there is no forgiveness." Without forgiveness, there is no way for God to come close to US! God wanted His people to be able to draw near unto Him. Yet He is Holy and our sin prevents the intimacy that God longs for; so He provided a Way - from the first sin covered by the bloodied skins of animals to the last covered by the perfect blood of Christ - we come to God only through the blood. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 I hope this gives you something to think about in your search from a correlation between these two Books. mommapbs |

235 | Being friends w/a married man; adultery? | Lev 20:10 | Mommapbs | 109164
God's Word prohbits adultery, not friendship. However, I suggest that it is easier (a danger than can be avoided!) to cross that line when the friendship is not with the married couple as a unit. mommapbs |

237 | What is this "valuation of persons" abou | Lev 27:2 | Mommapbs | 137796
Greetings Just Read Mark - I believe the answer is found in verse 8. I appears that the "valuing" is the amount to be paid for the making of the vow before the Lord - remember what David said: "But King David said to Ornan, 'No, but I will surely buy it for the full price; for I will not take what is yours for the LORD, or offer a burnt offering which costs me nothing.'" 1 Chron 21:24 IMO, although Grace is free, we as believers should remember to "count the cost" of following Christ! To whom much is given, much is required comes to mind.(Lk 12:48) Blessings, mommapbs PS - I'm off for a few days so if you reply I won't be able to respond right away . . . |

238 | what spies bring back? | Num 13:23 | Mommapbs | 70816
See Numbers 13-14 Although they all could agree upon the beauty and fruitfulness of the land, they did not all have the same outlook on its possession. Seems to me that there is a lesson here . . . In the end, what we believe about God will determine our outlook and then some too.
239 | why people afraid enter canaan? | Num 14:33 | Mommapbs | 70890
Greetings cmoore. You have asked a lot of questions and yet you have not supplied any information about yourself. I implore you, as justme has recently requested, to complete the personal profile so we can all "cmoore" about you! Read in Numbers 13 and 14 about the account of the spies, as we discussed last evening, and you will see that their fear of man was a reflection of their lack faith in God. They were judged accordingly. We can learn from the mistakes of the past and hopefully not repeat them. mommapbs |

240 | Red Heifer | Num 19:2 | Mommapbs | 44356
FYI from Mommapbs: Worth checking out. The young cow was certified to be kosher on April 5 by Rabbi Menachem Makover and Rabbi Chaim Richman of the Jerusalem-based Temple Institute. At the age of 3, if she stays red (one previous candidate in Texas developed white eyelashes), the heifer can be sacrificed in the ritual process of purification required by the Parasha Hukkat (chapters 19-22 in the Book of Numbers) for the building of the third Temple, the Holy of Holies. According to the Old Testament, this will bring the coming of the Messiah and the Day of Judgment -- but even this may not mean a resolution of the Middle Eastern crisis. Previous attempts by the Temple Institute group to place a symbolic cornerstone on the Mount have been blocked by Israeli authorities and provoked Arab riots. The red heifer, whose location is being kept secret for security reasons, may be admired on the Web site http://templeinstitute.org/current-events/RedHeifer/index.html |
