581 | Interpretation of is 1:18? | Matt 27:28 | Mommapbs | 75849
Greetings Emmaus. I "just happen to be in Is 1 at this time . . . Throughout the old testament, we see a "scarlet thread" woven in Israel's history. And whenever I read the word scarlet or red, I am reminded of the shed blood of Christ which covers our sins. I thought that this verse in Matthew was significant to your post and is worthy of further contemplation. Isn't it interesting that according to the AMP, scarlet was assigned to those who had rank, or standing in the world's eyes?! And although this was done in a mocking manner, little did these Roman soldiers know of the spiritual reality they were participants in. For He who knew no sin became sin for us . . . it is as if Jesus dons our mantel of sin and in exchange, we are given His robe of righteosuness to wear. In Is 1:18, the Lord is inviting Israel to recognize her sinful condition. There is a future tense associated with this verse, which could refer to of the ultimate redemption of the remnant.(Rom 9:27 - "Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, "THOUGH THE NUMBER OF THE SONS OF ISRAEL BE LIKE THE SAND OF THE SEA, IT IS THE REMNANT THAT WILL BE SAVED;") Personally, I struggle with limiting Is. 1:18 to just Israel, because I believe that the invitation to "confront sin" and God's offer of restoration (Grace through faith in Christ) is available to all. 582 | Are there any "people" created by Satan? | Gen 2:7 | Mommapbs | 75802
Genesis 1:1 says, "In the beginning GOD created the Heavens and the earth." (See also John 1:1-4) Verse 3 says, "All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being." From these two Scriptures, it is clear that God alone is THE Creator. We should not be ignorant about the devil, for he is a powerful being; but he was created too! mommapbs |

584 | What shall I do? | John 4:7 | Mommapbs | 75367
Ivory313: Kalos wrote you a very good response to this. The situation that you have described is beyond your ability to "fix" on your own. Since the leadership of your church has been compromised and the elders of the church have obviously not responded Biblically to sin in their midst, perhaps it is time to seek fellowship with a group of believers who will not "wink" at sin. Just a thought for you to consider. A church is a place where the sick go to be healed, not to become more sick. May God direct you to where He wants you to be - where He is honored . . . pray and seek! mommapbs |

586 | People at cross when Jesus died | John 19:25 | Mommapbs | 75364
The following verse also tells us that John was present yet the others watched from a distance.(Luke 23:49) I have often thought about this and wonder if this is the way that I sometimes "see" my Savior and Lord. . . Just as Jesus spoke to His mother and to His disciple John (John 19:26-27), I have learned that I must remain close if I want to hear His voice! Blessings, mommapbs |

587 | Marriage arranged Abigail and Nabal? | 1 Sam 25:3 | Mommapbs | 75341
1 Chr 3:1 Now these were the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: the firstborn was Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; the second was Daniel, by Abigail the Carmelitess; After reading up on this, I discovered that Nabal, a descendent of Caleb was a member of the tribe of Judah. The land given this tribe included Carmel. So, it appears that Abigail, a "Carmelitess" was most likely also a member of the tribe of Judah. Marriage within the same tribe was preferred so not to lose land, therefore it is not inconceivable that these two very different people would have had a marriage arranged for them. I guess the ends justified the means back then too! Just some thoughts! mommapbs |

588 | Women in the Bible | 1 Pet 2:9 | Mommapbs | 75339
Greetings cottonjunior. In the Old Testament, only men, those from the lineage of Aaron were called priests,(Ex 28-9) but in the New Testament, we see that women are included in the "priesthood" of believers.(2 Peter 2:9) We all have a responsibility to bring the truth and light of the Gospel to those in darkness. As far as women go, in the Old Testament, Deborah is mentioned as a prophetess,(Judges 4:4) in the New Testament, Anna (Luke 2:36)is also called a phropetess. Dorcas is described as a disciple. (Acts 9:36) Women were mentioned as "ministers" "Many women were there looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee while ministering to Him." Mt 27:55 However, women are never mentioned as being in positions Church leadership as Bishops or Pastors. (Overseer, Shepherds, elders 1 Tim 3:2) These offices are fulfilled by men. Romans 16:1 describes Phoebe as a "deaconess" or servant or helper in the church. (Both men and women are to fulfill this role!) Acts 18 tells the story of Priscilla and Aquila - they were missionaries (evangelists) and explained the Truth to Apollos. The word "preacher" may be applicable to women as all believers are called to go into the world and PREACH the Gospel! An Apostle was a special category that included men who had been with Jesus. Paul is also called an Apostle on account of his special encounter and teaching by the risen Christ. As a woman, I desire to be obedient to that which the Lord has called me. From Scripture, I know that I am not an Apostle and will not be called to be a Pastor (or a Bishop). I know what my gifts are and in addition to using these for His glory, I endeavor to tell others about Jesus - for God calls all of us to be ready to give an account of the hope that we have in Him! (1 Peter 3:15) Be sure to look up these references! Blessings, mommapbs |

589 | Why seek healing for this flesh? | Ps 46:10 | Mommapbs | 75311
Greetings Cyclist! When our teenage son, also named David, was undergoing treatment for cancer, he made an observation that has continued to encourage and comfort me. Perhaps it will you too! We had a habit of reading from God's Word just before bedtime. This particular evening, he was too ill to read so I read to him. We were in Ephesians 2. After I finished, I asked him which verse stood out to him and he replied, "That workmanship verse." How stange I thought to myself. Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God has prepared in advance for us to do." So, I asked my son why this verse was important to him and he said, "This verse tells me that God has a plan for my life." "How do you know that, David?" I asked, And without missing a beat he said, "Because I'm still here!" He continued, "If your work for God is done, you should be happy to go home to heaven." "Be still, and know that I am God;I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10 “Because I am still here.” These were our son David’s words to express his confidence in God’s plan for his life. He is still here; his work is not finished yet! He has “being” in this present life, for God has ordained it. In light of this, God’s command to “Be still” reminds us of God’s sovereignty over life. Each day we are permitted to draw breath is a God-given privilege. It is also an opportunity to be obedient - show our love for the Giver of life. Notice in this verse that there is a reason for the continuity of our existent – of “being still.” God commands us to know that HE is God! Each day brings with it a chance for us to know more about God. Our being is not necessary for God; He knows all about us. There is nothing hidden from Him nor anything new we can tell Him that He doesn’t already know ompletely. “Being still” is God’s gift for us to know Him! Blessings in Him! Your sister, mommapbs PS: Just as we fill our cars with gas or make repairs so that they will continue to serve the purpose for which they were designed, we too should take care of these earthly bodies; for they are the instruments that God uses to carry out His purposes too. So while you are "still here," take care of what God has given you so that He can be about His work through you! |

590 | Did our foreparents have to stay? | Rom 13:1 | Mommapbs | 74795
Searcher, is there a law that says that we must stay under the dominion of the prince of this world or are we free to place our allegiance with the King of Kings? I agree with brother Hank who recently wrote that we all have the opportunity to "choose whom you will serve." (Jos 24:15) I suspect our forefathers felt the same way. Blessings, mommapbs |

591 | John12:1-9 | Titus 3:5 | Mommapbs | 73327
Greetings sweet. We should not let the approval or disapproval of others rob us of what we have IN CHRIST. Jesus did not pronounce Mary good because of her actions, nor did her actions show others her "goodness." Our goodness is wrought only BY CHRIST! Nothing we do will ever make any of us “good” or acceptable in the sight of God. Mary’s actions were the result of the attitude of her heart toward Jesus. She saw in HIM, the only TRUE source of love and acceptance that really mattered. We always will have opportunity to respond to others, but Jesus reminds us of the necessity and urgency of our response to Him by His affirmation of Mary in this passage. He is not focused on her actions, but rather on her heart! "Today, if you hear His voice, harden not your hearts." (Heb 4:7) The time to respond to the offer of mercy and grace is NOW. None of us has to “prove” anything to anyone else, for Jesus did it all for us on Calvary. He alone makes us acceptable to God. Nothing we do will cause God to love us any more or less than He does IN Christ right now. (2 Cor 5:12-21) Christ has set us free from the law, let's not become enslaved to it!(Romasn 8:2) Blessings, mommapbs |

592 | John12:1-9 Mary's love for Jesus | John 12:6 | Mommapbs | 73246
Greetings sweet! Judas was not causing anyone to question the Master's worth, but his remark illuminated the attitude of his heart toward the Lord. This is not unlike folks today who put service to others in place of service to the Lord. Blessings, mommapbs |

593 | God place people in political positions? | Rom 13:1 | Mommapbs | 73232
"By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice." Proverbs 8:15 God is sovereign over all but He also allows us to reap what we sow! As Christ followers, I believe that we have a responsibility to elect people to governing positions who will most closely honor God's laws. |

594 | God's Second disapointment | Gen 1:2 | Mommapbs | 73187
Greetings Malspa! Before the creation of man, God created the angelic order. See Ez 28:14-15 et al. God won a victory over the rebellion of Lucifer and his followers in power. Yet He wins us by His love! Rev 21:5 tells us that God will make all things new, not all new things. We know that in Christ we are a new creature (2 COr 5:17) but no where do we see any evidence of God preparing to create another order of being because He is unhappy with man. Blessings, mommapbs PS: I don't connect how light is the response of God because He was unhappy with the earth! God is Light, in Him there is no darkness. I suspect that when He said "let there be light," it was only to reaffirm His presence in the midst of sin that had entered the universe through Lucifer. |

595 | HONESTY!!!!!!!!!! | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 73169
David gave you a great HONEST answer! I would like to add James 5:16-20 for your consideration. In the wonderful book, "Experiencing God," Henry Blackaby reminds us that God speaks to us through His Word, through the Holy Spirit, through prayer, through circumstances and through the counsel of other believers. When these 5 line up or are in agreement, you will have the confimation that you are seeking. I pray that you will continue to grow in Him in accordance with His Word. Please re-read Cyclist's post; it is sound counsel! Blessings, mommapbs |

597 | Did the Magi visit Bethlehem or Nazareth | Matt 2:9 | Mommapbs | 72908
Although Herod directed the Magi to go to Bethlehem, note what this verse says they did. The star led them to where the Child was. Matthew's account does not say that the star led them to Bethlehem does it? "We must obey God rather than men." Acts 5:29 Just an observation for you to consider. Blessings in your study of God's Word. mommapbs |
