521 | Is sickness from satan? | Job 2:7 | Mommapbs | 83250
Greetings unisoldier. While I don't think it is appropriate to attribute ALL sickness to the torments of the devil, here are two instances in Scripture where God permitted Satan to exercise affliction. See also Paul's remark about his "thorn in the flesh" as a "messenger from Satan." 2 Cor 12:7 mommapbs |

522 | Did Jesus die spiritually? | 2 Cor 5:21 | Mommapbs | 83101
Greetings Weatfields! I disagree with Searcher. If the penalty for sin is death - what kind of death are we talking about? Spiritual death - or separation from God. When Christ prayed before His crucifixion, asking the Father if it was possible for "this cup to pass" Mt 26:39 - what was He really asking? Certainly not for His physical life to be sparred! I believe that He was asking God if there was any other way for Them to bring reconciliation to sinful mankind apart from the process of experiencing the penalty for sin - spiritual death or separation from God. Also, why would Jesus cry out, "My God, why have You forsaken me" if He was not experiencing this? Did not Jesus taste death for us, so that we would not have to? Hebrews 2:9 |

523 | Who are the enemies? | Eph 2:15 | Mommapbs | 83099
Greetings Dan58. What causes enmity with God? Sin. The thrust of this passage refers to the reconciliation that Christ offers to sinful man. Upon our acceptance of HIS work, we are "reconciled" with God in and by Jesus, thus establishing peace with God! (which btw, should be reflected in our relationship with others!) Hope this helps, mommapbs |

524 | DOSE LADY HAS HER OWN VISSION ? | Eph 5:21 | Mommapbs | 81248
Greetings! The subject of women and their role has been addressed many times and you can acess this discussion using the Quick Search feature by entering in 'head of house.' God's Word is very supportive of both men and women in the marital relationship. First of all, Jesus tell us to love one another just as HE loves us (John 15:12 - what a high task!) Paul continues to drive the point home to men especially by telling them to specifically love their wives as Christ loved the church. But for women he tells them to RESPECT their husbands. (see Eph 5) My opinion: A husband is accountable before God for the spiritual welfare of his wife, regardless of the job he is doing in this matter, we as wives should respect the position that he has been given and love unconditionally. As a "help-mate" we do not lose our own identity, but we bring our unique God-given qualities to build a new identity as two become one. I hope this helps! God bless your day! mommapbs PS: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Gal 3:28 |

525 | what does I thirst mean in the bible | Ps 69:21 | Mommapbs | 81244
Greetings! Although this prophecy was fulfilled at Calvary(John 19:28-30), Jesus, in death, provided the model for us to follow which found in couple of other scriptures: My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God? Psalm 42: 2 O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1 What I understand from these additional verses is that the TRUE thirst we must recognize is for God. Secondly, we must recognize the inability of man to quench the thirst for the Divine. Yet, how often does mankind attempt to do just that! From the first encounter with evil in the Garden of Eden, some confuse their desire for God with the lie that they can become like Him! (Gen 3:5) Jesus said, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink." John 7:37 ". . .whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." John 4:14 May God bless your day as you consider these great Truths from God's Word! mommapbs |

526 | Levi - No regard for his parents | Deut 33:9 | Mommapbs | 81167
Greetings! I had started to answer you yesterday and then my computer crashed. Since your question is still posted, I'll try again! Aaron was charged with a sacred responsibility to serve the Lord wholeheartedly as His High Priest. Today, we have THE High Priest, Jesus, who intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father. I don't believe we can interpret this to mean that he was disprespectful or did not care about his family; but Aaron knew God and he desired to serve Him above all else. Follow along now with this Scripture: Jesus said, "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me." Mt 10:37 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Mt 6:33 "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." Luke 10:27 "For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments;" 1 John 5:3 "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments." John 14:15 "This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you." John 15:12 Recently, I asked God very specifically how I should love Him and He showed me the faces of my husband, my family and my friends. From these verses and this recent conversation with God, I conclude we must seek God first, and love God first. In order to do this we must do what He says; we obey His commands. As for me, I have always prioritized thus: God FIRST, family (husband, children, kin) and friends. This follows the same pattern that Jesus gave. "you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." Acts 1:8 When we truly love another as Christ loves us, everything else that we choose in relating to another will honor and glorify God. Jesus associated with all sorts of people (they were all sinners , you know!). He makes no distinction; He loves everyone, believers and unbelievers. Go and do likewise. Hope this helps, mommapbs PS: see also Mt 12:47-50 Jesus is teaching; He is following His Father's plan. Jesus is not ignoring His "kin" but rather, He uses this to illustrate and help us understand the importance of having an undivided heart toward God. "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name's sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life." Mt 19:29 |

527 | Is having a TV unbiblical? | Phil 4:8 | Mommapbs | 81112
Greetings! It isn't the TV that is "unbiblical" but all too often what is shown on it is! The issue here is WHO or what has priority in your life? Anything new or old can become an "idol"! Hope this helps - God bless you as you seek to know Him! mommapbs |

529 | Is "the whole world" localized/ global? | Matt 24:14 | Mommapbs | 78925
Greetings Searcher. When we consider the "whole world," are we dividing the world into geo-political areas or people groups? Frankly, if we see the world through God's eyes, we would not limit our thinking with imaginary boundaries. God has chosen for Himself a people group out of the world - those whom He calls Israel. And we,as believers in Jesus are the "beloved;" we are ingraphed, adopted children of God. I believe everyone else in the world falls into two groups: those who have not yet responded the the love of God in Christ and those who have rejected Him. Regardless of one's theology on the issue of "election" and free-will, we can not ascertain the condition of another's heart and therefore, as given the opportunity we should all endeaver to make clear the message of the Gospel. When communicated by the power of the Holy Spirit, the hope that we share in Jesus is unmistakable. (And it is THIS that is either accepted or rejected by the "world.") In light of the current world situation, we see an ever clearer line being drawn between those who know God and those who do not. mommapbs |

531 | Searching for the truth | Rev 1:1 | Mommapbs | 78374
See 1 Cor 2:10-16 God keeps secrets for many reasons, but He always has OUR BEST interests in mind. Anticipation can be a wonderful experience as it keeps us focused on what will be rather than what is. Paul reminds us that "these present suffererings are not worth comparing to the GLORY THAT WILL BE REVEALED in us!" (Romans 8:18) mommapbs |

532 | Searching for the truth | Rev 1:1 | Mommapbs | 78238
FytRobert - "THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND WHICH HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM." 1 Cor 2:9 Dt 29:29 says, "the secret things of God belong to God." !!!! Have you ever planned to surprise someone you love? How did you feel in anticipation of their reaction to what you had planned? What could or would ruin the surprise? Have you been delightfully surprised by someone who loves you? Multiply this by infinity and that is what you can expect to find in Heaven! God has a plan for each of us that stretches out into eternity. I suspect that God is just as anxious as you are to see it all unfold! Blessings on your day! mommapbs |

533 | Searching for the truth | Rev 1:1 | Mommapbs | 78100
Greetings FytRobert! See Rev 21:25 There will be no night - God is our Light - His Presence casts out darkness! Jesus paid the cost of admission for us - eternal life in Heaven is a free gift. The Church or body of believers is called the Bride of Christ. Does a wife "earn her keep?" We are called children of God. Do children have to "earn their keep"? Lastly, yes, I believe that we will recognize one another. I hope you find encouragement through your searching of God's Word! mommapbs |

535 | Deacons? | 1 Tim 3:8 | Mommapbs | 77885
Greetings greatfullydead! You asked, "How do you select deacons among a huge congregation?" My first response is, not by a popularity contest! Sadly, this is the way that many churches select those to fill such positions. 1 Tim 3 begins with the qualifications that should be found in an "overseer" or shepherd of the local church and notice how verse 8 begins, "Deacons LIKEWISE must be . . ." So we could conclude that the selection of this group should be considered just as seriously. It troubles me a little that you have expressed concern over the size of your congregation in relation to the selection of deacons. Also, who is "you?" In other words, WHO evaluates the individual based upon the qualifications stated in God's Word? Certainly, if an individual "failed the test" he would be disqualified. Who is administering and grading that examination is of more concern to me! (So my initial comment remains, popular vote is a "no confidence" in my view!) Just some thoughts for you to consider. Do read all of 1Tim 3 and look at some of the other notes that have been written on this subject too! mommapbs |

538 | Searching for the truth | Rev 1:1 | Mommapbs | 77851
Greetings FytRobert - check out what God says in Isaiah 25:6 "The LORD of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain; A banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow,And refined, aged wine." This is a scene of heaven. I do NOT believe that we will live as if we are in an eternal church service in the sky! That would be BORING! Heaven will be anything but THAT!! God bless your quest! mommapbs |

539 | Does any body knows the 12 names of God | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 77634
Greetings God His Help. Where does the number 12 come from? There are many more names for God than 12! God's name(s) reveal His nature and relationship to us. God's response to Moses query about His name was, "IAM WHO IAM." See Ex 3:13-15. This has been expressed to me to understand that God IS Whoever I need Him to be (!) and HE knows my needs! SO While He is ALL at once, I can only understand His nature as He reveals Himself to me personally, moment to moment. May it be likewise for you! Jehovah, Jesus, Savior, Redeemer, Lord, Good Shepherd, Almighty God, Wonderful Counsellor, Prince of Peace, Comfortor, Provider, Healer, Creator, Judge, Defender, Strong Tower, Word, Ruler, Lover, Friend, King, Alpha, Omega, etc, etc! As a side note, it is my understanding that one of the ways a follower of Islam is guaranteed entrance into heaven is to be able to recite all the names of allah. Since the exact number is unknown, a muslim can never be sure that he has named them all! What a poor and futile waste of effort! On the other hand, Islam teaches that one who dies in "jihad" can be "assured" of heaven -imagine the shock that awaits them in eternity! Our God does not require His followers to die for Him; He died for us! Believers in Jesus are not required to DO any work to gain our salvation from His wrath. He has done it all for us! Eph 2:8-10. mommapbs |

540 | Searching for the truth | 2 Cor 11:14 | Mommapbs | 77629
Greetings FytRobert! Yes, Satan is a creation of God, yet because of his rebellion against the Authority and Sumpremacy of God, he lost his position in God's creation. Satan is angry and is responding as such against God and those who love Him. There are many excellent posts in the archives of the Forum. Just type in Satan in the "quick search" field. You will find Scriptural references that will direct you to discover the truth about this evil angel. (PS: Rev 12:12 Satan is a defeated foe; and because he knows that his time is short - before the final judgement of God, we are witnessing an increase in his activity throughout the world that will culminate in the emergence of a person the Bible calls the anti-christ.) I hope this helps in your quest. Praying for you. mommapbs |
