502 | Lay down my life? Am I a shepherd? | John 10:17 | Mommapbs | 83836
"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." ( I would ask:What about one's enemies?) Greetings Ray! What an interesting study. Would you say that the Father loves us (approves us) when we sacrifice self for the interests of others? (Please ponder this and then answer)Let's dialog a bit on this. (Basically, I'm interested in your second question) mommapbs |

503 | Is a state marriage recognised by God? | Rom 13:1 | Mommapbs | 83538
I like the Amphlified version of Romans 13:1 - LET EVERY person be loyally subject to the governing (civil) authorities. For there is no authority except from God [by His permission, His sanction], and those that exist do so by God's appointment. See also Prov. 8:15. What do you think the answer is according to this verse? mommapbs |

507 | Hoshea turned to Egypt for help | Is 31:1 | Mommapbs | 83487
Greetings! The key to understanding this passage and applying it to our own lives is that Hoshea did not look to the Lord for direction first! Any time we turn to something or someone other than God to find value, meaning purpose, direction etc. . . we are in rebellion and disobedient. See Ex 20:3 and Dt 11:16 mommapbs |

510 | Does Satan dwell within us? | 1 Cor 2:1 | Mommapbs | 83448
Greetings: using the "quick search" feature, type in this number: 4581 You will find an excellent post that addresses your topic. Also, I have copied a post I wrote a year ago on this subject for you to also consider: We are God's possession! (see also Eph 1:4) Jesus said, "no one can snatch them out of my hand." John10:28 Upon confession of faith in Jesus, the believer is SEALED (Eph 4:30) with the Holy Spirit. Ownership is established (2 Cor 1:22) - we have been BOUGHT with a price - the shed blood of Christ! "Don't you know that your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit?" (1 Cor. 6:19-20) The Holy Spirit is our deposit upon salvation, guaranteeing the promise of God and His presence IN our life - Christ is IN you, and once He is there, the devil and his demons cannot be! (Yes, they can and do influence believers, but they cannot possess what God has purchased! Praise Him!) Hope this helps assure you that as a believer the Devil has no authority to possess your life! And one day, we will be free from his evil influence forever! Looking to that Day! mommapbs |

511 | Would you consider Ps 22 | 2 Cor 5:21 | Mommapbs | 83395
IT IS AND WAS FINISHED! What was finished? The penalty for sin - the wrath of God against sin was satisfied by Jesus on the cross. He is our perfect sacrifice! Although unregenerate man is "dead" to God spiritually, he need not remain that way - this is the offer of GRACE, getting what we don't deserve and MERCY, not getting what we do deserve! However, God's WRATH remains as a certain reality for those who reject His salvation. Psalm 22:31 - "They will come and will declare His righteousness To a people who will be born, that He has performed it." Indeed HE has performed it! mommapbs |

512 | Conversation With God? | Matt 7:16 | Mommapbs | 83385
Greetings Hank - "What does Scripture say about how God communicates with man and man with God?" I like Job 42: 1-7. Here we see examples of one who ASKS and listens to God for instruction and one who "speaks" for God.(v7) Which one was affirmed? In my opinion, I think that often our conversations with God are too one-sided. We may be diligent to pour through His Word and devote ourselves to prayer, but are we actively seeking to HEAR FROM HIM? Too often the plans we make are just a guess at what God has in mind. We see only part of the picture - kind of like looking at a wide-screen movie throught a stereo hand viewer! Secondly, I wonder if we are willing to receive His voice without preconceived notions of HOW He may speak? As for me, by virtue of my doctrinal training I believed that God's voice could only be heard through the study or reading of His Word, I struggled with doubt for far too long after I actually audibly heard His voice. After finally coming to accept that I had actually "heard" from Him, I began to see and recognize other ways that He was choosing to speak to me as well. He sure did get my attention in a dramatic way! In my experience, God has spoken directly to me in response to my prayer and yet at another time, He initiated the conversation and spoke when I was not expecting it. He has spoken to me about others, but unless He gives me a directive to share this with them, I would not utter what He has revealed. I think it is dangerous for anyone to speak without the authority of God. Yet, how often do we do just that! Most of my experience has been similar to the post by EdB. The Holy Spirit is alive and well and continues to function as our TEACHER!(John 14:26) Often He uses His Word to remind me of things or to direct my thinking. He also has used situations or circumstances; usually He teaches me through "object lessons." Perhaps my doubts still prevail in some form, for I am constantly wanting confirmation of what I believe God is saying. Frankly, I don't think that this is a bad thing as it does tend to keep us in check, fully dependent upon GOd to direct . . . During a recent illness, God's presence was very tangible. For just a brief period, He absolutely removed my pain - I felt as if His Hand was stretched out, moving over my body - it was truly an experience I can only attribute to Him as I was completely and unexplainedly at peace. Also during this time, God impresssed upon me the importance of (and need for) a healing ministry. 2 weeks later, in a book I was reading, God identified the healing that I was to focus upon; it was NOT PHYSICAL(as I had thought in Elihu fashion) but emotional and spiritual. Had I continued to presuppose what I THOUGHT GOD WAS SAYING, rather than to continue to ask Him to clarify His direction, I would have been working on my own effort rather than depending upon God. Now, as I pray about this and ask God to direct me, I confidently know that HE will open the doors and reveal His plans in HIS timing. In the meantime, I will contine to pursue Him with patient expectation. For me, this is a season of preparation. It has taken MANY years, and I am STILL in awe of how much more I don't know . . . slowly,I have learned to recognize His voice. Hopefully, my response time to Him will increase! My prayer is that you too would be open to hearing from God in ways that you might not expect! He loves to delight and surprise His children! God bless YOU! mommapbs |

513 | what is the purpose of the second census | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 83334
Greetings urong: This is a duplicate post. Welcome to the Forum. What you have asked sounds a bit like "homework" questions to me. Now I could be wrong (!) and so if you are genuinely wanting answers, your post will remain on the unanswered board. For starters, you could use the "Quick Search" feature and do your own "leg work." Hint: Input these words - census purpose Second hint: read Numbers 14 Third hint: it's spelled "benefit" - which in this instance means to learn or profit, to gain insight from . . . Why is leadership important? Is the succession always good? Can you think of an instance where it was not? What was the result? Now, decide WHY was Joshua chosen. Hope this helps! mommapbs |

514 | No limit on what faith can do? | Matt 6:10 | Mommapbs | 83330
Greetings Radioman! I guess I am confused a bit with your question. In our earthly tent, how can faith be without limit? Isn't it rather the OBJECT of our faith that is without limit?! I agree with what you have presented and I commend to you Psalm 37:4 When we seek the Lord, or "delight" in Him, He promises to give us the desires of our heart. Now if HE GIVES the desires, whose are they? His, of course! Therefore, when we are obedient in this we will pray as you have quoted: "we won’t make improper requests. Also, we will be so in tune with God that we will be satisfied when His plans prove to be different than we hoped they would be." mommapbs PS: Thank you for your diligent posting. |

517 | Daniel's age when taken captive? chp.1:6 | Dan 1:4 | Mommapbs | 83258
Greetings! Welcome to the Forum. From this verse we cannot determine Daniel's exact age other than to know that he was old enough and young enough to be taught. It is remarkable that even in his youth, Daniel's faith in God was grounded so that he was not swayed by the influence of the Chaleans! (This is something to consider: What do we REALLY believe about GOD? Are our beliefs, grounded in HIS WORD?) Just some thoughts! mommapbs PS: How about completing your personal profile? Thanks! |

518 | Hank, Do you believe he's with God? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 83256
"The righteous man perishes, and no man takes it to heart; And devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from evil," Is 57:1 imf, this Scripture suggests (to me) that sometimes death is a means of God's Divine protection to keep His children from evil. mommapbs |

520 | Graceful are you here? | 1 Cor 15:3 | Mommapbs | 83254
Greetings imf - I'm just responding to this post to take it off the "unanswered questions" list as this has been up for a few days now. If "graceful" chooses to respond, you will receive a notice via e-mail as usual. In my opinion, it is best to designate personal queries as a NOTE rather than a question if you want a specific answer from a Forum member. This way, the unanswered questions of a Bibilical nature receive the attention they deserve from the Forum as a whole. Blessings on your day. mommapbs PS: I have walked in similar shoes; my third child is also a cancer survivor! Praise God for His mercy! |
