Greetings chumbu! I'm not quite sure how this reference prompts your question, but remember who is speaking here!(The father of lies!) One thing we know from God's Word is that the man of sin can not understand the things of the Spirit - they are foolishness to him. See I Cor 1: 18-25. In fact Scripture also tells us that the god of this age (Satan) has blinded the spiritual eyes of unbelievers (2 Cor 4:4). Lastly, God's Word can only be understood as God reveals it by His Spirit. The unregenerate man does not understand the things of God because he does not have the Spirit. (2 Cor 2:9-16). God alone searches the hearts of men - do you know what He's looking for? He is looking for the presence of His Son! That's what an obedient heart looks like to God! Just some thoughts . . . Blessings, mommapbs |

464 | whats the reference to our day? | John 4:48 | Mommapbs | 85534
I'm not sure I understand what you are asking, but as I read this, I am reminded of the patriarchs of old who just simply trusted that God would do as He said. They did not see the promised Messiah of God and yet they believed . . . the people were looking for signs and wonders not God who stood before them as Jesus. So perhaps it is today . . .people flock to the sensational rather than choose to develop a sensitivity to the Spirit of God in their midst. Yes, signs and wonders and miracles are wonderful manifestations of God at work, but He STILL IS even when it is not evident! "Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed." John 20:29. Does this answer your question? mommapbs |

465 | Why does the word read good? | Luke 18:19 | Mommapbs | 85519
This is just a suggestion for you to consider. When a man is declared righteous by God, he is given "right standing" or he is reconciled to the way he was before sin. And what was man like then? See Gen 1:31! Yes, a good man is one whom the Lord has made righteous . . . and indeed his steps are directed and established. The question remains though . . . are we walking in those steps? Just pondering my own walk . . . mommapbs |

467 | jewelry and piercings | Prov 20:1 | Mommapbs | 85487
Opps! I sent this to myself by mistake! While reading in Jeremiah 9:25-26 it struck me that piercings or cutting made in the body are akin to the circumcision (an outward sign of God's possession) commanded for Israel. Satan always conterfiets the activity of God and this may be one of them. The practice of cutting the flesh seems to be cultural in many areas of the world, and yet perhaps it stems from a desire to measure up or to be approved . . . by the gods? By others? If this is the reason or motive for the "cutting" then it takes on a rebellious spirit - one that seeks approval apart from God. However, the circumcision of the heart is what the Lord requires! This "cutting" can only be accomplished by HIS HAND! And THIS is what we are to seek! As I consider my own ears, I remember as a 15 year old, I wanted them pierced, "because everyone else had them pierced." But, my mother said, "No." SO what did I do? I pierced them myself. The motive: To be like others. Rebellious, disobedient? YES (Do not learn the way of the nations, Jer 10:2) Today, 35 years later, I wouldn't wear good earrings unless they were of the pierced variety. The holes are good protection against loss. I don't regret the piercing, but I regret the circumstances and repent of my rebellion that it represents. God has used this to illustrate His truth - His approval is all that matters, the circumcision of my heart was wrought by the piercing of Jesus - the Author and Finisher of my faith. May this bless your day and encourage you in your relationship with the Lord, who loves you and gave Himself up for you! mommapbs |

468 | No, the dead are still DEAD...not alive! | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 85443
You asked: "Do Good People Really Go to Heaven When They Die?" NO, only those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior from the penalty of sin go to be with the Lord when their physical bodies die. Those who have been declared righteous (like the old testament saints you mentioned) by God also expected God to keep His promise of eternal life with Him.(Inherent in this was the promise of a Savior - though they didn't understand HOW God was going to accomplish His plan for their redemption, they still trusted Him to do it - we could take a lesson here too!) When we don't fully understand something, perhaps this is God's way of encouraging us to trust Him . . . John 14:1-6 My belief is that when Christ ascended, He emptied Paradise or Abraham's bosom, this was the place of the dead where those who were declared righteous by God (prior to death and resurrection of Jesus) waited.(Eph 4:8)See also the story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31 According to God's Word,(2 Cor 5:1-8) when we are absent from the body we are present with the Lord. How or where - who really cares? All that matters is that He is with me and I will be with Him. Lastly, what the righteous patriarchs and those who have been declared righteous IN CHRIST have been promised is new life with Him FOREVER in NEW BODIES. However, this will not be realized until Christ returns for His Bride, the Church. We will all be changed, in a twinking of an eye - the dead in Christ first and those who remain . . . 1 Cor 15:50-53 Respectfully, mommapbs PS: You claimed, "The Bible reveals some astounding and little-understood truths about heaven, the mystery of life beyond the grave and God’s great plan and purpose for us." What are these "little understoond truths"? What is God's great plan and purpose for us? |

Greetings! When you are asking about a specific verse. Check to see if there are any notes posted on it first. In put the reference. You will see the letters I, N,and C in boxes. If the N is green, there are postings about this verse.(You can "click" on the N to see what has been written an follow the thread.) I have copied a response that you may find helpful by Makarios: I believe that Paul is using his authority as an apostle of the church to direct the church to use their authority as a congregation to excommunicate the immoral brother who refuses correction from sin. Paul is speaking here in the best interest of the one who should be punished as well as that of the church. "5:5 to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh. This evidently means that the church was to discipline this sinning brother by committing him to Satan’s domain, the world (1 John 5:19), and to Satan’s chastisement, the destruction or ruin of his body (flesh means “body” here) through sickness or even death. destruction does not mean annihilation but ruin. Persistent sin often leads to physical punishment (11:30; 1 John 5:16-17)." (Ryrie's Study Bible) "Evil and Suffering, Satan—God can use Satan’s treatment of a person to discipline the person, leading that individual to repentance and restoration with God’s people. Satan does not intend to help a person towards salvation. Anyone outside the fellowship of the church is under Satan’s power. A believer cannot live under such conditions and will eventually return to God or die. Spiritual exclusion may lead to physical death but not to damnation." (Believer's Study Bible) --Nolan |

471 | Was there room for forgiveness? | Luke 22:3 | Mommapbs | 85379
"While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.(Ps. 41:9; John 6:70) John 17:12 No one can serve two masters. In the foreknowledge of God,He knew who Judas would chose. And God used that knowledge to accomplish His purposes. Can a servant of Satan be forgiven? Think about this. mommapbs |

472 | was Jesus afraid? | 1 John 4:18 | Mommapbs | 85377
NO Jesus was not afraid. Throughout the Bible we are continually told "do not fear." To fear then would be sin, right? Jesus knew no sin. He was not afraid. Recall when Jesus rescued Peter from the waves He asked him, Why did you doubt?" (Mt 14:25-31) Fear is the absence of faith. Jesus knew who He was; the Son of God - He had the presence of the Father with Him - no, He was not afraid of the process of death . . . my opinion is that He did not want to experience the forsaking of God, but for the joy set before Him (our redemption, our reconcilation . . .) He did; He endured the cross! mommapbs |

474 | are awards give at the return of Christ? | Rev 22:12 | Mommapbs | 85373
Greetings jbw - no, The Lord will not be giving out any blue ribbons or even red ones, but according His Word, there will be REWARDS! However, if your reason for serving Him is to receive rewards, you are building with wood hay and straw (Read 1 Cor 3) This is performance Christianity! Christ examines the motives of our hearts - this is how He tests our "work." Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. Col 3:23-24 If any man's work which he has built on it (the foundation of Christ) remains, he will receive a reward. 1 Cor 3:14 "I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds. 478 | anyone got any ideas on this scripture? | Prov 12:27 | Mommapbs | 85006
Greetings! VERY simplistically, follow through is lacking! At first reading, it seems to me that "lazy" and "diligent" are opposite qualities. While both the lazy and the diligent have goals purpose or pursuits, only the diligent will realize or enjoy the benefit of them. How we pay attention to our relationships, our work and especially God's Word can be brought into focus by meditating on the Truth expressed in this verse. May God reveal areas of our lives where we are "lazy" and may we in response, diligently pursue Him for all our needs! mommapbs |

479 | what is the world made of? | Eph 2:19 | Mommapbs | 84957
From Scribe (via mommapbs - I think this is probably what you are looking for!) Job 28:5-6 As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire. The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold. Job is an awesome book. Job is considered by many to be the oldest of the OT. I am not so sure about that, but it is at least one of the oldest. Job seems to be full of these interesting hints of scientific knowledge, that proove that the bible has had hints of science insight thousands of years before men found out through careful observation the same things. Long before men figured it out Job tells us that there is fire in the center of the earth. |
