201 | old testament salvation | Lev 18:25 | JCrichton | 140108
Hi,Lorraine! Retrospect salvation is made in Jesus (Romans 6:3-14)... now, do you think that Adam and Eve were cognizant of God's Design (Genesis 3:15); do you think that they clearly understood that thousands of years later there would be a Messiah, who would die for their sins and that they would be granted Life if they but Believed? Jesus speaks of the time when Abraham met Him and how glad he was (John 8:56-58)... were all of Abraham contemporaries as blessed? Does the Old Testament speak of God's prophets being sent to the pagans? Did Jesus come to the pagans? (Matthew 15:22-28) There is a clear relationship between the people of Israel and Yahweh... to them is the promise; to them is the Law; to them are the prophets! Yet, God's Design includes the pagan world... it is Jesus that makes from both people one (Romans 9:1 - 11:32;); in the past the pagans were farther from God than the people of Israel... their hope was hidden in Christ (Matthew 12:17-21; Romans 15:12; Colossians 1:25-28)... Christ was not revealed till the fullness of times so that He may unite both people as one (Ephesians 2:13-22)... It is impossible for us to know exactly God's Design (there's no complete revelation) but we are given enough to understand that God's desire is that all are saved (this does not of course mean that God's Will is imposed upon all so that humanity is saved regardless of its desire to reject God); His Salvific Plan includes all sin, (1 John 2:1-2; 1 Peter 3:18-20)... God's Mercy, Patience and Love knows no bounds! God Bless! Angel |

202 | salvation for demons? | Lev 18:25 | JCrichton | 140601
Hi! I can't remember which post suggested that the spirits which Peter speaks about are the fallen angels--I responded with a negative! Though we are all creatures of God, not all creatures choose to obey--John's Gospel tells us that the Light came onto the world and that He came to His own and His own believed Him not; but that He gave power to all who Believed to become children (sons) of God (John 1:1-14); further Jesus tells us that the evidence is that those who rejected Him prefered the darkness because they embraced unrighteousness rather than God (John 3:17-20); it is evident that Satan and his minions choose not to humble themselves and obey God... they reject Jesus' Authority even though they fear Him (Revelation 12:7-9, 12; Matthew 8:28-29) so, undoubtedly, since they would not repent and obey, there is no Salvation for them! Alas, we are all God's creatures... but not all choose to obey, not all choose to humbly seek God's mercy, not all choose to repent... hence many forfeit God's Gift of Life: Jesus' Salvation! 203 | Tattoos? | Lev 19:28 | JCrichton | 130698
Hi, Kk226! Perhaps you should explore the culture of tattoos... why are they appealing, what is their significance culturally/individually, what would it benefit a Christian to follow that culture (which includes body piercing), what example would Christians be setting by joining the culture? There are many things in the Bible that are seemingly sound to abstain or participate in because there is no exact word per word text that commands or forbids it... here's what Paul had to say about Christians and their environment: "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is constructive. Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. (1 Corinthians 10:23-24) We must not justify our desire to emulate the world by claiming that it is permissible because it is not found ad verbum in Scripture! We are called to emulate Christ, who taught us that we are not of the world--serving two masters will most likely fill us with confusion and we might end up depositing our faith and loyalty on the one which is seemingly less exigent: the one with ample liberties and myriads of ways! God Bless! Angel |

204 | Homosexuality, sin or not? | Lev 20:13 | JCrichton | 150498
Hi, Liberty Belle! I am not sure if you have come back to view the various replies that your post originated... some are clearly supportive of the people that erroneously detracted truth from the Holy Scripture and replaced it with their version of God's Word... Here is Genesis description of Sodom: 12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom. 13 Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD. (Genesis 13:12-13) There's no room for interpretations: Sodom, bad! Genesis 18:16-33 describes Abraham's intercesion on behalf of Sodom... it got to the point that Abraham asked God if He would desist from destroying Sodom if there were to be found in it at least 10 innocent/righteous people... the Lord said He would--Sodom was destroyed! "(sorry, I don't have the scripture)" There's no Biblical Scripture that anyone can use to promote or exonerate homosexuality... the least passage would be the one which I suspect was used, with their own twisted spin: 1 The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. 2 "My lords," he said, "please turn aside to your servant's house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning." "No," they answered, "we will spend the night in the square." 3 But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. 4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. 5 They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them." 6 Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him 7 and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing. 8 Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don't do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof." 9 "Get out of our way," they replied. And they said, "This fellow came here as an alien, and now he wants to play the judge! We'll treat you worse than them." They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door. 10 But the men inside reached out and pulled Lot back into the house and shut the door. (Genesis 19:1-10) When we read the Holy Scripture we can clearly state that: A) The angels were guests of Lot, no one else needed to extend their hospitability to them--so clearly there is no sin against inhospitability here! (Genesis 19:3) B) The men of Sodom were up to no good as they mobbed Lot's house (19:4) C) The men of Sodom were if not completely homosexuals they were at least bisexual--and they were out of control... it was not a proposition of or or two who found Lot's male guests desirable... it was the whole mob (19:5) D) Lot attempts to persuade them not to commit such wicked act (having sex with his male guests) (Genesis 19:7) E) Believing that he should protect his guests at all costs, Lot offers his virgin daughters so that they may do anything that they wanted (sexually) to them in exchange of leaving his male guests in peace (19:8) F) They would not have it! These men were not interested in having sex (forced or otherwise) with anyone other than Lot's male guests... they were so incensed that they rushed the door (to break it down) while threatening that they would do worst things to Lot (another male person) than what they had planned to do to his male guests (19:9) There's no way that homosexual intercourse was not what these men were lusting after... they even passed up the opportunity of having sex with two young ladies who had never had sex (virgins) before... they were ready to break down the door so that they could perform their homosexual acts on Lot's guests... An avocado may be a fruit, but no amount of twisting and coaching can make it so that we can bake an apple pie with it: homosexuality, BAD! God Bless! Angel |

205 | Integrity | Num 12:7 | JCrichton | 131967
Hi, Praise be to God! Moses is that one person you are searching for... it is him in whom Yahweh deposited all power and authority over the people of Israel, His chosen people. It is he who humbly served the Lord, their God, to the point of allowing Israel to trample him and defy him. It is he who honored God so that even when the rebelliousness of those closest to him would threaten to dispose him of his authority, he intercedes on their behalf asking Yahweh for mercy! Numbers 12:1-15; Exodus 33:9-23; Exodus 4:16; Exodus 7:1; Numbers 11:1-2; Numbers 16:46-48; Numbers 21:7-8; No other man before or after Moses was given by God such direct power and intimacy... Moses performed his duties according to God's Command without ever capitalizing on God's Trust to his own benefit... He placed himself between God's wrath and Israel as a type of God's Suffering Servant (the Lamb of God)! God Bless! Angel |

206 | angry at Aaron and miriam | Num 12:11 | JCrichton | 123542
Hi, eager! The problem with Miriam and Aaron was that they were hiding behind the excuse of Moses taking a non-Hebrew wife. Their true intent was power!: They said, 'Is Moses the only one through whom Yahweh has spoken? Has he not spoken through us too?' Yahweh heard this. (Numbers 12:2) As many believers throughout history, they were not interested in Moses' transgressions as part of the Body... they simply used the opportunity to place into question his leadership and authority. Their zealousness was not for Yahweh; rather their ulterior motive was sharing the "power"--which, in their minds, they had just as much right to possess as Moses did. In their blind thirst for control they ignored the fact that it was Yahweh who commissioned Moses as the prophet and leader of Israel. (Exodus 3:1 thru 4:31) Not only that but God Himself exalted Moses above all of the poeple (both Egyptians and Israelites), not because Moses desired to have authority over them but because he was Yahweh's representative: Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Look, I have made you as a god for Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron is to be your prophet. (Exodus 7:1) But Moses's authority was limited to his office (God's representative): You must say whatever I command you... (Exodus 7:2) What Miriam and Aaron were doing was nothing shorter than an attempt to depose Moses from his office and usurp Yahweh's authority! God Bless! Angel |

207 | Santa Clause or Jesus Christ? or both? | Deut 5:6 | JCrichton | 128405
Hi, JAL! I think the problem lies in that we (society) do not concern ourselves with teaching about Christ as we do about fables... Our culture is capitalistic: everything is about money... have you noticed how even runaways and the homeless are portrayed wearing designer clothes (these spanking-new), the latest hair styles, and never missing a step with the culture (music, language, entertainment)... the fable of St. Nicholas traveling world-wide to bring the gifts for the "nice" kids was a wonderful design... sadly it has been corrupted to the point that parents over indulge their children with expensive and copious gifts... all this while Christ is removed from sight... It is almost as if Christ is becoming the world's favorite taboo! I do not see a real problem with keeping a tradition alive, as long as we do not neutralize Christ in the process! But there are more sinister traditions that we, as Christians, should be concerned with... the tradition of separation of Church and state (the Founding Fathers were establishing a means to keep the Church from being exploited; today, we find the Church being assaulted in the name of this tradition); we have the colorful tradition of witches hallowed, which celebrates witches, warlocks, monsters, spiritual beings and demons... a tradition that calls on children to incorporate themselves in a world of violence, chaos, and the supernatural... then there's hollow wood's traditions of twisting Christ into nothingness and revering all that is evil... children, through cartoons, videos, video games, and "just for kids" programs are trained to be disobedient, apathetic, and egocentric; Christ is presented as primitive notion held onto by old fashioned fanatics bent on keeping people from enjoying themselves... Santa Claus, or anything else, should not be allow to replace Christ in any form or function... but as long as we (Christendom) eagerly accept society's principles the resonance in Christ's query will continue to gain momentum, exponentially: …However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8) God Bless! Angel |

208 | houses we did not build | Deut 6:11 | JCrichton | 129723
Hi, Glg4ever! You do understand that this is a promise to the people of Israel... where Yahweh was implementing His Plan to bring them to the Promise Land and to provide for them as they needed? Sadly, many new age Christians reject the Jehovah Witnesses' claim that we are to remain on earth in perpetuity (whereas heaven is reserved for their chosen 144K), while seizing all of the promises to Israel, even those that were not to trancend their particular place in God's Plan, and projecting them onto Christendom! They are as bad as the Jehovah Witnesses that seek to limit God's Plan by superimposing their definitions and ideologies. Our promised house is with Christ: Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. (John 12:26) In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. (John 14:2) The New Promised Land is not an earthly dwelling but a heavenly state! God Bless! Angel |

209 | How can I walk closer to him? | Deut 18:11 | JCrichton | 129142
Hi, Tania L. Moore! I think that Doc was referring to God... as we get closer to God He comes closer to us... We must constantly be alert: studying Scripture, living Scripture, living a prayerful life! We cannot convince another person to change his/her mind about God--Jesus Himself when He offered His Body and Blood and nearly all of His followers left Him, He did not scare them into submission nor did He beg them to stay (John 6:50-69)... It is a wonderful labor, bringing others to Christ... but it is also a hard and slow labor... we must pray constantly to the Holy Spirit to enlighten us so that we may exercise all of our abilities to the task at hand... patience, love and lots and lots of understanding is required to aide others, specially when they live a doctrine that is contrary to Christ's... Share the Scriptures with your cousin... demonstrate through your loving care that Christ is the Only Way... show your cousin that only in Him (Christ) are we truly free and complete... do not argue for arguement sake... always drop a Scripture passage or two where you can demonstrate that God Loves all of us and He wishes that all be saved! There are Scriptures that you can text to your cousin that demonstrates that Jesus died for sinners (all sinners) and that there's no sin too great that God would not forgive--with the exception of rejecting God! I will keep you in my prayers. God Bless! Angel |

210 | How counteract brainwashing of lucifer? | Deut 18:11 | JCrichton | 129144
Hi, Tania! I’ve just logged back on... Though somewhat different, this reminds me of a personal episode I had with a childhood friend... I left New York and within months the "ole neighborhood" changed--actually the people changed. This particular friend began to sell me on the philosophy of selling drugs (people would always buy, the government and the wealthy keep the poor down, etc.)... for nearly a year I suffered his anger and stubbornness... though he never used foul language he screamed, yelled, slammed, terminated our friendship, accused me of having a superiority complex... the works! What irritated him was my refusal to condescend... I rather lose his friendship than to support any and all means to acquire wealth or power... In the darkest moments he would challenge me about God and Divine Providence and Justice... I knew that all he needed to hear from me was an exasperated "OK, do what you want to do, I understand!" But I insisted that he did not need to sell drugs even when all the people we knew from the neighborhood were doing it! One day, my persistence paid off! I loan him 150.00 to place as a deposit on a technical institute (printing industry)... a year or so later my friend was boasting about his abilities to handle all of the equipment in an industrial print shop! Your task is much greater than mine... my friend was not testing God, just me! But I believe that the procedure is the same... not once did I return his pleas unanswered; not once did I degrade him for rejecting my advise; not once did I use anger or frustration as a club to bash him about... every single time he found my friendly voice, hand, ear, advise... every single time I offered him an alternate path to choose--one that would bring him closer to self-fulfillment without the risks and traps of the drug scene! Though difficult your task is no impossible--specially since you noted that your cousin is versed in Scripture! I met a man once that wanted me to explain why a loving God would destroy or order the destruction of so many people (Old Testament and Revelation)... it was a difficult task but I pray to the Holy Spirit (many many days and nights) that I would be able to bring this person to the enlighten path of God's Love and Mercy... after a few months of heavy Bible Study he began a new life in Christ! Your first line of assault is PRAYER! Your second SCRIPTURE! Your third CONSTANCY! In prayerful love share Scripture with your cousin, teaching through example that God is a Loving and Merciful God--do not allow the emotion of the moments to burden you and rob you from your own inner peace; that peace that Christ offers us! If you need assistance searching Scripture drop a line at: JCrichtonfs1@yahoo.com. I will be more than glad to study topics and suggest Scripture to guide your cousin to the Truth! God Bless! Angel |

211 | women in slacks | Deut 22:5 | JCrichton | 133800
Hi, Ollienorma4! We must also distinguish between freedom from sin and freedom to be rebellious... Paul says this: "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is constructive. Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience, for, "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it." If some unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you without raising questions of conscience. But if anyone says to you, "This has been offered in sacrifice," then do not eat it, both for the sake of the man who told you and for conscience' sake--the other man's conscience, I mean, not yours. For why should my freedom be judged by another's conscience? If I take part in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of something I thank God for? So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God--even as I try to please everybody in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved. (1 Corinthians 10:23-33) When this particular congregation reflects on that Scripture that forbids a man to dress as a woman and vice versa... they are making a judgment call on how they want the congregation to be viewed... as a visitor or as a new member it would be wrong for you to dress as you please because you feel that you are free to do so in Christ... are they not free to determine a dress-code for their congregation? If you feel that the dress code is just an extension of male supremacy... you have the right not to commune with them... and you have the right to join them, accept the status quo, and work diligently to promote Christian equality within your new congregation--perhaps you might even convince them to recant their dress-code statue! But you must do so in love! You must consider the example that you are giving to both the novice and the unbelievers!: It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall. (Romans 14:21--see the whole chapter verses 1-23) God Bless! Angel |

212 | I directing a dram having a role of fath | Deut 22:5 | JCrichton | 139063
Hi, godfreyli! With all that is going on with the secular world's celebration on homosexuality, I suggest that you educate your group of actors and actresses--as wrong as it is for the secular world to celebrate and tolerate homosexuality, it is a greater offese for "Christians" to be as liberal on issues that are clearly damaging to the Faith! Perhaps you should explain to the men in your congregation that the "father" role should be played by a man--remind them that it is "acting," the character portrayed has no connection to the man performing the part! If all fails--I would contact other Christian congregations that may have a man (or two) willing to participate as the "father." There's a passage in Scripture that speaks on the exchange of garments between male and female--I just can't remember how to word it in order to get it from the electronic Bible... I'll contact you again when I find it! God Bless! Angel |

Hi, Lorenzo Jiménez! Remember that the angels are God's messengers. 215 | Doesn't that make it 14 tribes not 12? | Joshua | JCrichton | 145420
Hi, Chusarcik! I have posted on the 13 tribes: 12 sons, one whose name is removed and his 2 sons inserted in his stead... yet the tribe of Levi was separated by God and their main concern would be dealing with the Temple (then, tent) and all matters of worship; hence, Levi would not take part of the distribution of the land, nor of the daily activities of commerse, etc...; there would then have been only 11 tribes... this, of course, was known to God who granted Joseph's two Children (Ephraim and Manasseh) a position as part of the 12 Tribes... As Joseph and Ephraim are interchanged (Revelation 7:1-8), the one discrepancy I find is that Dan is left out and Levi is reinstated as part of the Twelve! I forget where it is found exactly... but was there not a Scriptural passage speaking on how Dan lost their land and they went to live with one of the other tribes?... Perhaps their failure to uphold the command to keep the land appointed to them caused them to be removed from the final listing (Revelation 7). God Bless! Angel |
||||||
216 | Doesn't your answer make it 13 tribes? | Joshua | JCrichton | 145481
Hi, Chusarcik! It is not what I believe it is what Scripture tells us: The Twelve Tribes of Israel are named after the twelve sons of Jacob (Israel)... however, the tribe of Levi would not inherit (possess) any of the promised land and they were separated by God to care for all matters of worship and temple/tent duties... this would mean that there would be a distribution of land and labor among 11 not twelve tribes... the name of Joseph was temporary removed and the names of Jeseph's two children (Ephraim and Manesseh) replaced Joseph's name (again there are twelve names for the twelve tribes of Israel)... In the book of Revelation (chapter 7) we find that Ephraim has been replaced by Joseph (remember that Ephraim though the youngest of the two brothers was blessed by Jacob with the first-born blessinngs--the line of succession continues!)... however, this change alone would not keep the number of trives at twelve... there is the omission of Dan and the reinstatement of Levi which makes the number twelve the magic number for the Twelve Tribes of Israel... If you require additional information (Biblical passages) please feel free to ask for them. God Bless! Angel |

217 | found another opinion which may be wrong | Joshua | JCrichton | 145486
Hi, Chusarcik! I think that when we tend to throw in all sorts of things into the cooking pot, the only outcome is pot-luck surprise! Superstition deems the number 13 as bad luck... it is interesting to visit some of New York City's tall buildings: the elevators do not have a 13th floor on them... this shows how powerful superstition can be! However, we are speaking of the Holy Scripture and God... God does not employ nor allow for any superstition! I do not know the origin of the superstition about the number 13 (it could predate Christ--I just don't know); but what I know is that Christ made a specific selection: 12 disciples! These twelve disciples are to mirror the twelve tribes of the Old Testament... and though Christ was among them, it was truly God-with-us that was among the twelve (Isaiah 55:8-9) so the number of equal elements is still twelve! Yet, even if we were to count Jesus with the twelve, would the new Judas (not Iscariot) not be also the thirteenth since the Holy Spirit precided above the twelve and worked directly with them to establish the Church? Further, if we do not count the Holy Spirit, would then Paul not be the thirteenth... he called himself an apostle (even if he suggested that he was the least of them)... so it would seem that the most recorded apostle to the Gentiles would be battling against the forces of evil and the inherited bad omen! We find that Paul was very pleased to be Christ's apostle... he deemed his commission a great honorable one and just as he, erroneously, persecuted the Church, he made it a point to always excel in his ministry!... that thirteen thing just did not slow him a bit! The Twelve Tribes... It is revealed in Scripture that there are Twelve Tribes... that Scripture does not explain itself it is understandable: the Word of God is the Word of God... He has no need to explain Himself to us! So we start with the original names of the twelve sons of Jacob... journey through early changes (Levi separated from the Twelve--11 are left; Joseph temporarily removed from the list 10 are left; the names of two of Joseph's sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, are introduced as part of the Twelve--12 are left... Then, in Revelation 7, we find that there are new changes: Dan is completely removed from the Twelve (perhaps for their inability of keeping their land and having to live annexed to one of the othe tribes)--11 left; Levi is reinstated as part of the Twelve--12 left; Ephraim is interchanged with Joseph--still 12 left! So we find that though a total of fourteen names and thirteen actual tribes existed, Israel is composed of only Twelve Tribes! God Bless! Angel |

218 | Was this promise fulfilled? | Josh 1:4 | JCrichton | 148599
Hi, Mommapbs! The Promise did not fail! Remember that there were conditions set on the Hebrews... amongt them were: a) that they had to take the land from the occupants, b) that they had to take full possession of the land by either eradicating or expelling the occupants, c) they had to live separate from the nations around them (not emulating their customs and not intermarrying with them)... Israel failed on many regards... including not taking the land when God commanded them to do it! I compare the loss of the Promised land to the loss the Holy Spirit: both the Hebrews of ancient times and Christians of modern times came short of God's Gift... the Gift was never removed or limited; it is the recipients who failed to partake of God's Gift fully! God Bless! Angel |

219 | How do you meditate? | Josh 1:8 | JCrichton | 125569
Hi, 8788! Try to place yourself in the passage you are reading--do not attempt to digest whole chapters or books at-a-time. Begin with something that is familiar or that you truly enjoy or that mystifies you. Look for something visual (Jesus walking on water, the fishermen working without success until Jesus guides them to the big catch, the woman in the midst of the crowd that touches Jesus and is cured or walk with Jesus as He carries the Cross to Golgotha!). You must seek a place and time where the least amount of interruption may be present... Be truthful. If the passage saddens you to the point of tears... let it happen! If it brings you joy as the leper who came back to praise and worship God for His Gift... enjoy! Always begin and end with a prayer: asking the Holy Ghost for guidance (beginning); thanking God for the one-on-one with Him (end)... as you practice you begin to form your own style. God Bless!
