2941 | Why is it important to attend church? | Heb 10:25 | EdB | 238117
Because Hebrews 10:25 commands us to.Hebrews 10:25 (NKJV) 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. |

2943 | What exactly does this passage mean? | Heb 10:26 | EdB | 239295
Exactly what it says. How can anyone think of them self as being saved while engaging in deliberate and willful sin? This isn't saying a Christian won't sin it is saying a Christian will not engage in willful and deliberate sin. It goes on say if a truly saved Christian has done this, he has mocked the Holy Spirit and there no longer remains any sacrifice that will pay the price for this sin.

CMoore Yes it is. Is is also called the Faith Hall of Fame. If you read the lives of the men and women listed there you will see true faith. Men and women that gave up everything to follow God. Their lives stand in stark contrast to what we call walking by faith today. EdB |

2946 | Could the "2 witnesses" be ... | Heb 11:13 | EdB | 53369
Radar Hebrews 9:27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, is not teaching all men have to die. This was a teaching to combat reincarnation. Man will only die once and then comes the judgement. To interpret this to mean all men must die once negates the teaching of the rapture 1 Cor. 15:51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, To speculate on the two witnesses is just that speculation and Jesus told us not to waste our time doing such. If you want to read more on the subject do a search on two witnesses you should find ample reading. EdB |

2947 | Did Enoch die? | Heb 11:13 | EdB | 232491
What does all mean? All used here is understood to mean all the previously mentioned people. If we maintain Hebrew 11:5 to mean that Enoch didn't die and in fact went into heaven then we have created a conflict with John 3:13 (NASB) 13 "No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man. We know scripture does not lie or conflict with itself. We also can see John 3:13 allows for no exceptions and is clearly stated so we have to assume Heb 11:5 is citing an event that isn't complete until verse 11 |

2948 | Could Moses have done better? | Heb 11:24 | EdB | 71598
Timothy Paul First how do you know Pharaoh had no sons? Moses was the the adopted son of his daughter but there is no indication in the Bible he was next in line for the throne. If Pharaoh of the Exodus was the same Pharoah that Moses fled from, we know that Pharaoh had a son because he was killed on the night of the passover. Could have Moses have done better? Yes I think he could of when we consider how his problems started, by killing another. However I believe God orders the steps of a righteous man so the things that took place in Moses life brought him exactly to the place God needed Moses to be to use him as God did. EdB |

2949 | A "Better" Resurrection? | Heb 11:35 | EdB | 68103
Makarios This passage is talking about two different times two different resurrections. Hebrews 11:35 Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection; The women that received back their dead by resurrection is talking about women of faith like widow of Zarephath (1 Kin. 17:22) and the woman of Shunem (2 Kin. 4:34) who received back their loved ones by miraculous resuscitation rather than a true or permanent resurrection. The second part is talking about Christian martyrs of faith tortured to death rather than denying Christ and forsaking a resurrection into eternal life. Matthew 10:32-33 "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. [33] But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. The resurrection talked about in the first part was temporal those brought back from death would die again. In the second part referring to a better resurrection is talking about the resurrection of the saints into eternal life. Thus the first is temporal and the second is everlasting or better. Yes everyone who calls Jesus Christ Lord and Master should be looking for the better resurrection. EdB |

2950 | How are pre-Christians made perfect? | Heb 11:40 | EdB | 114638
Hi and Welcome to the forum Jesus upon His death descended into Hades which is translated hell. However in Hades there was two sides divided by a hugh void. Luke 16 In any case Jesus preached the Good New to those in Abraham's Bosom and lead captive captivity Eph 4:8 to heaven. In other words the righteous that died before Christ looking for the Christ were in Abraham's bosom or paradise awaiting the Messiah. Jesus went there, preached to them and they accepted his salvation and were taken home. That side of Hades is now empty, the hot dry side still contains the unrighteous dead that await the judgement. 2952 | Bible teachers/pastors-help! | Heb 12:1 | EdB | 134499
MrsBinGA Do any of you Bible teachers/pastors experience overwhelming discouragement and/or depression prior to you teaching/preaching? Absolutely and not just before but also afterwards and often it is more severe, as we critique ourselves not seeing the results we expected. However both the Paul and the writer of Hebrews addressed this Paul even gave us examples. Here are some passages to reflect on. 1 Cor. 9:23-27 Now this I do for the gospel's sake, that I may be partaker of it with you. [24] Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. [25] And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. [26] Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. [27] But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. Philip. 2:14-18 Do all things without complaining and disputing, [15] that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, [16] holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. [17] Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. [18] For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me. 2 Tim. 2:1-16 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. [2] And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. [3] You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. [4] No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. [5] And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. [6] The hard-working farmer must be first to partake of the crops. [7] Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things. [8] Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, [9] for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained. [10] Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. [11] This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. [12] If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. [13] If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. [14] Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. [15] Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. [16] But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. 2 Tim. 4:6-8 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. [7] I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. [8] Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, [2] looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. [3] For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. Think about Paul in Lystra, he was preaching and they dragged him out of the city and stoned him. Afterwards he stood up dusted himself off and walked back into the city to preach. Press on never let the adversary steal from you. EdB |

2953 | When are children not blessed? | Heb 12:2 | EdB | 81986
redangel2828 The only real mention of illegitimate children in the New Testament is Hebrews 12:8 which points out a real danger of missing fatherly guidance in their lives. Hebrew 12:8 is using it to show without correction your like a illegitimate or fatherless child. In the Old Testament there are prohibitions against illegitimate children but in most cases it is referring to children born to one pagan parent. God looks at each of us not our parents, what the child does with his or her life and whether they accepts Christ or not will determine his blessedness. EdB |

2954 | Please help a new Christian | Heb 12:2 | EdB | 241840
John 3:16 (NASB) 16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. The word believe can be more than a little confusing to an English speaking person. We use believe in so many ways. The actual word Pisteuo in the Greek means to become dependant. I use the example, " I want to mountain climb so I go to the store and ask for a rope that will support my weight. The salesperson sells me a rope rated for 5000 lbs and tells me this is more than enough to hold me. I buy the rope and walk out of the store believing the rope will hold me. But that is not Pisteuo belief. I go to the mountains and find a huge rock to tie my rope around it and I pull and jerk it and convince myself the rope is strong enough. I believe but even that is not Pisteuo belief. I tie the rope around me and go over the edge of the mountain and lean back a little to see if the rope holds. It does but the is not pisteuo either. It is only when I step off the edge and put my trust/dependance on the rope am I showing Pisteou belief. What I'm describing is not blind faith remember I bought a rope rated for more than enough to hold me, I tied it around a huge rock, I tested it. It is not blind faith in God, but it does require faith in what we trust. You need to learn to trust God. Relax, read your bible trusting in God to show you His love. Become dependant in God for your welfare, your health, your security. Scripture tells us God is a our physican. Trust in God over this illness. Trust in God! |

2955 | What does God's correction look like | Heb 12:6 | EdB | 88510

2956 | Could you provide some verses in NT | Heb 12:6 | EdB | 88683
Appleseed I think 1 Cor. 11:27-32 gives an excellent example of what can happen to a person that God needs to correct. Also in Revelations addressing the church of Thyatira Rev 2:22-23 seems to be talking to both saved an unsaved and their punishment until repentance in evidenced in their lives. EdB |

2958 | what does hebrews 13:10 mean? | Heb 13:10 | EdB | 235611
Verses 10-14 are among the most difficult in the book of Hebrews. They are subject to many interpretations and applications, and I do not want to be dogmatic in the views I present. We have an altar, from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat. For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate. (13:10-12) Many Christians believe the altar mentioned here is literal, and that it refers to the altars at which believers today are to worship. These interpreters hold that right to eat refers to the Lord's Supper. But who, then, would be those who serve the tabernacle, who have no right to eat? And verse 11 speaks of the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin. This hardly can describe Christian worship. Some believe the reference is to a heavenly altar, such as that spoken of in Revelation 6. But again, who would be those who had no right to eat there? And, in any case, there is no eating or sacrificing of animals at the heavenly altar. Others believe the altar is a figure of Christ, whose body we are to eat and whose blood we are to drink (John 6:53-58). But still the questions remain about who is not allowed to eat and about the sacrificial animals. I believe the best explanation is to consider that We refers to the writer's fellow Jews. That is, "We Jews have an altar. The priests serve at this altar in the Tabernacle, or the Temple. Ordinarily they are allowed to eat what remains of the sacrifices. But on the Day of Atonement, they are not allowed to eat the sin offering. The bodies of the animals used for this sacrifice are taken outside the camp and burned." In this view, an analogy is given for Christians. As the priest of old could not have a part in the sins of the people, so the believer should 441be outside the camp of the world, no longer a part of its system, standards, and practices. This is what Jesus did, pictured supremely in the crucifixion, which was outside the city gates. Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate. I do not think the analogy can he pressed any further. It is simply a picture of Christians, following their Lord, separating themselves from the things of sin. As our Lord was crucified outside the walls of the city of Jerusalem, so we are to be spiritually outside the walls of sinning people. MacArthur, John. MacArthur New Testament Commentary – Hebrews. 2959 | Why is marijuana use prohibited? | Heb 13:17 | EdB | 68106
Pris Marijuana usage is against the laws of the land so Hebrews 13:17 "Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you." would apply here. EdB |

debbyalee Key word of James, "faith that works" Key verses James 1:19-22 and 2:14-17 James 1:19-22 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; [20] for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. [21] Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. [22] But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 2:14-17 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? [15] If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, [16] and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? [17] Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
