2921 | should not enter into his rest | Heb 3:11 | EdB | 106815
God was angry because the children of Israel took the report of the spies and refused to enter the promised land. God swore they would never enter and caused them to remain in the wilderness for 40 years until all that generation died. You can Read the story in Number 14 also it is recounted in Deuteronomy 1 asnd again in Psalm 95 and in verse 11 you see what is quoted in Hebrews 3:11. That warning now pertains to everyone today that refuses to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. EdB |

2922 | Heb 42 good news and Luke 9-60 news | Heb 4:2 | EdB | 237456
Good News means the Gospel or the truth of Jesus Christ. The Kingdom of God means to preach about God since this is before Jesus' death and resurrection after it means to preach Jesus who lived among us, was crucified, died, was buried and arose again to sit at God right hand. That Jesus died for our sins and who ever believes in Him will not perish but will have everlasting life. |

2923 | can i go to hell after salvation | Heb 6:1 | EdB | 110797
Kobus Hi and welcome to the forum this is highly debated subject. There are those based on Heb 6:4-8 and Hebrews10:26-29 that say yes you can backslide enough to lose your salvation, Others based on Romans 8:35-39 and Hebrew 13:5 that say once we have eternal life we can not lose it since it is eternal. The point I would like to make is this. I do not believe a sincere Christian would sin to the point of losing his salvation. To be really saved and in right relationship with Jesus means you love Him. Jessus said those that love Him would obey His commandments. Therefore I do not see an open door before Christians in which they may walk into sin. You need to do a search in the Quick search box to the right for "once saved" or "always saved" EdB |

2924 | Whatever happened to John 17:21? | Heb 6:4 | EdB | 17920
Well said my friend, well said indeed!!!!! Let us not worry about what we can or can not get away with. Let us learn to live pleasing to Christ!!! EdB |

2925 | How does Romans 8:38-39 fit in with Heb | Heb 6:4 | EdB | 24907
Desertone Since I got to you first here is what I think it means. No one absolutely no one can remove you from Jesus' hand. However I think you can remove yourself. In other words nothing can steal your salvation but you can give it away. A believer is eternally secure in that Satan can not remove him from the hand of our Savior but I do believe we can yield to flesh fall into sin and remove ourselves. EdB |

2926 | holy spirit? Are we heirs of promise? | Heb 6:4 | EdB | 68018
Ray I would disagree I think the capitalization here is to show this passage is talking about a saved Spirit filled Christian. To me not capitalizing this would be like saying he was a good person that had a holy spirit (good/righteous spirit) but wasn't necessarily saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. To me Holy Spirit is talking about the third person of the Godhead who comes at our salvation to lead us to all truth and wisdom. The holy spirit is a spirit within man that strives for righteousness and sinless life. That’s how I see it. Be blessed my brother and how are you? EdB |

2928 | Judgement:preachers who curse nontithers | Heb 7:8 | EdB | 79023
Truth Fighter Tithing was instituted before the law as method of honor and worship. God has promised to honor those that honor him with a their tithe. But no, we do not have to pay a tithe. Do you pay your fair share, not to enrich men but to accomplish the work of the Lord? If you do don’t worry about what anyone says. If not, why not? In life we have to pay our way if everyone in church did they would be able to feed and cloth the hungry and naked, to spread the gospel and take care of the widows and orphans. Unfortunately most that attend church refuse to pay their fair share and many are left to starve and go naked, still others will never hear of Jesus. Also within the church are those that enrich themselves instead of being stewards of God’s money. What is your fair share? It depends on you and your income and what God has purposed in your heart to give. In most cases ten percent is a good place to start. If everyone that could would give 10 percent and if the money was used wisely not to enrich someone or build extravagant buildings there would be no hungry, no naked, no un-cared for widows and orphans. 2929 | Yet another capitalization question? | Heb 7:26 | EdB | 6388
Ray I looked at many other translations and none except NKJV has this capitalized. It was a mystery to me, until it dawned on me they are talking about the position rather than who filled the position. In other words they referring to the position of high priest rather than to Jesus being our High Priest. Even knowing Jesus is in the position of the high priest I think any time we are referring to just the position it should remain uncapitialized.
2930 | Yet another capitalization question? | Heb 7:26 | EdB | 6389
Ray after submitting my answer I realized I only addressed Heb. 7:26 and not your second or main question. As far as capitalization of "Son of Man" I think the issue comes back to a case of position verses the person in position. In the case of high priest many men served in the that position. However only one can be called the perfect High Priest, that being Jesus. With the position of Son of Man however there is only one that ever can ever be the Son of Man and that is Jesus. Every male can be ‘a’ son of ‘a’ man but none except Jesus can be ‘the’ Son of Man. Therefore since that position can be filled by only one and that one is Jesus Christ, referring to that position should be capitalized. |

2931 | Altar in the Holy of Holies? | Heb 9:4 | EdB | 118994
Exodus 30:6 And you shall put it before the veil that is before the ark of the Testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the Testimony, where I will meet with you. Many modern translations put the altar inside the veil instead of where this verse clearly places it outside the veil. While I'm not a translator but one that has faith in translators I think one of two things happened here. Since we are not sure of the writer of Hebrews it could be he was confused and misplaced where the altar sat. The other possibility was the word that was translated altar could have been referring to a table within the Holy of Holies not mentioned in Exodus 30 passage upon which the Golden censor sat after the priest carried it in. 2933 | Christ entered the Holy or most Holy?... | Heb 9:12 | EdB | 9901
Hi Jerry Good question! Actually Jesus entered both, the Holy place is before the Holy of Holies and must be pass through to reach the Holy of Holies. The Altar upon which Jeus presented His blood was located in the Holy of Holies so we know he entered both. Hebrews 9:11-14 |

2934 | "covered in the blood". | Heb 9:19 | EdB | 115460
In the Old Testament before the priest could enter the Holy of Holies to make a sacrifice for the sins of the people he had to be first purified. He was sprinkled with blood. Moses when he gave the law to the people and sanctified them, he sprinkled them with blood. In effect they were under the covering of the Blood. Read this passage Hebrew 9:6-28 it will clarify it for you. EdB |

2935 | before Jesus,whered the dead go? | Heb 9:27 | EdB | 236569
In Luke 16:9-31 Jesus tells a parable that incorporates and agrees with the Common Rabbinic teaching of the time. The Rabbinic teaching was that there were two sides of Hades or the holding place of the dead. Likewise in His parable Jesus talks of Hades having two chambers. One side a hot dry place and the other side paradise or Abraham’s bosom. The hot dry side contained the unrighteous dead while the Paradise or Abraham’s bosom side contained those the died before Christ that were righteous and looking for their Messiah to save them. When Jesus died on the cross he descended into Hades to the Paradise or Abraham’s bosom side and preached the “Good News” then as Eph 4:8 says lead captivity captive to heaven where they now dwell with Jesus. Paul teaches us in 2 Cor 5:8 that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. So when a saved person dies today they go directly into the presence of the Lord. |

2936 | Do we get a final chance at salvation? | Heb 9:27 | EdB | 241093
It is appointed for man to die once and then face the judgement. There isn't any second chances.
2937 | What about judgement? Heb 10:17... | Heb 10:17 | EdB | 145600
Mike Believers will not stand before the judgement seat as seen in Revelation 20:11-15 that is unbelievers. The believers will have their works judged by Christ 1 Corinthians 3:12-15 (NKJV) 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 2938 | Why must I continue to hope? | Heb 10:23 | EdB | 238262
I believe you must read this verse in context. Hebrews 10:19-25 (NASB) 19 Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. No where in this passage does it say the world will change for us once we are saved. We still live in a sin tainted world. Our hope is not in the truth of our salvation at this point but rather in day we will be living in a world where sin no longer exists. As the things of life burden us down we are to be encouraged and to encourage others that this to will pass away and one day our joy will be everlasting. |

2939 | Why must I go to church? | Heb 10:25 | EdB | 51631
Hanna In reference to your question I came across this this little story that might be food for thought. WHY GO TO CHURCH? A Churchgoer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all." This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor column", much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher. I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!" When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment! Think about that In Love EdB |
