261 | SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237499
Being a doctor, nurse, researcher requires various talents and abilities. I believe these talents and abilites come from God for the welfare of man. Further there is no prohibition in scripture against seeking medical care. Many doctors and nurses give God the create for what they as medical practioners are able to do. So even they believe it is God's will for them to be serving man in this way. I would question anyone's motive for saying you can't use doctors, nurses and medicine. |

262 | Life support, Yes or No? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237532
The subject is not addressed in scripture but Scripture does stress the importance of life. I think there are two situations one you addressed or lived through where life support was required to keep you alive while your body healed. I think in this case life support is mandatory and required. The other case is where to be the best of man's knowledge the body is not going to heal or improve. That the coma or vegetative state will be the person's state until death. I think then this decision is the persons or his family. Frankly I do not want to live if I'm not able to serve God (such as being in a coma). I would rather be home with Him and in His presence. |

263 | God's should be revealed in him | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237545
I agree God can be using us even when we are totally unaware of it and even when we are in a coma. But I did include a caveat in both situations I stipulated for the person in first example there was a reasonable expectation of the recovery. Likewise in the second situation all reasonable expectations were exhausted and medically there was no valid hope for any sort of recovery. While life is very precious I think we often forget that we all are going to die. That this is not our home and that we are just aliens passing through. This is clearly seen in Hebrews 11:13-16 (NLT) … They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own... But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. |

264 | 3 levels of Christians in Ephesians | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237547
Can you give us some idea of in what context are you asking this question? In almost every book of the New Testament we see different examples of Chistians. For example we see new of baby Christians more seasoned Christians and mature of elder Christians. We also see new converts, committed Christians and those that died in Christ. We see Christians that only do lipservice, those that serve faithfully and those that go on and become martyrs. We see stingy christins, giving Christians and generous Christians. we see fearful christians, those that have peace and bold Chritians. I think to answer your question we need to understand the context in which you are asking this question. |

267 | God relenting based on person's prayer | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237614
There many examples Moses prayed many times for the people in the wilderness. Here are a few verses listed as examples of intercession to check out. Genesis 18:24 Genesis 20:7 Genesis 20:17 Exodus 10:18 Exodus 18:19 Exodus 32:11 Exodus 32:32 Numbers 11:2 Numbers 12:13 Numbers 14:17 Numbers 16:22 Numbers 21:7 Numbers 27:16 Deuteronomy 9:20 Deuteronomy 9:26 1 Samuel 7:5 2 Samuel 24:17 1 Kings 13:6 1 Chronicles 21:17 2 Chronicles 30:18 Nehemiah 1:5 Job 42:10 Psalm 106:23 Jeremiah 18:20 Jeremiah 42:4 Ezekiel 9:8 Daniel 9:16 Joel 2:17 Amos 7:2 Zechariah 1:12 Zechariah 7:2 Luke 7:3 Acts 8:15 Romans 15:30 Ephesians 1:16 1 Timothy 2:1 2 Timothy 1:18 1 John 5:16 |

268 | Language in Eden | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237630
Scripture does not say so we have no way of knowing. However my guess is it was a pure form of a language that was the basis for Hebrew. |

269 | Is telling a white lie ok? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237639
The New Testament stresses it is not the letter of the law but rather the intent of the heart that is looked at by God. We can get ourselves tied up in legalism that will literally choke the life out of our being. Telling a lie to preserve the feelings of another, says the intent was not to deceive but rather to build up and I don't think God will fault you on that. So it is the intent that is judged not the act itself. Human law does not allow for intent as you said because as humans we can't look at the heart. However God can and knows the intent of the heart which enables God to judge by intent not by action or event. I think we miss it when tell our kids not to lie. We should teach them not to deceive, not to give false witness, not to cheat. That is the really the problem. Tell someone they look good to build them up is doing to others what you would have them do unto you. How far you carry this will depend on our integrity. Some will say you look good. Others will say you sure look better than you did the last time I saw you. Others will say that is a nice hat, or an interesting walk you have. :-) |

270 | Help to understand the objectives | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237647
Pjmacaz Your are right Prob 3:5-6 is a good answer. But Doc's answer is correct. Many people come to this forum advice. Most of the time they are really looking for agreement to the conclusion they have already made and only supply enough info that we would tend to agree with the conclusion they have already reach. Also there is the issue of accountability. None of us are really accountable to this person. When people need advice they need to be talking to some one that is accountable to them for their answer. In most case it is their pastor who is accountable to them for their advice. An example of a valid question and one we might have been able to help with would be "is there any verse that addresses working for someone you had trained?" In this I would have said not scripture does not speak to such a situation. |

274 | can the spirit return after death? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237785
Key word here. Comfort If you disprove their belief will it comfort them? If you prove their belief will it add more comfort? Unless they are building doctrine on it why not let them mourn their daughters lost in a way that comforts them. If down the road a problem arises like the spirit of the dead daughter is telling them what to do and etc. Then you might need to step in. In cases like this I find it best to let their pastor handle the situation. We are admonished to stay away from spiritsLeviticus 19:31 (NASB) 31 'Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God. And if this is what is going on it needs to stop. |

275 | Your will. WIll God make you? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237791
It does not say this. Scripture often talks of God changing the heart of man. God has even place disease on people to have them abort what they planned. |

276 | Is belief in the triune God essential | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237793
When you say fail to accept the belief in a triune God, what do you mean? Do you not believe that there is God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit? Or do you believe that there are three Gods? Or two. Or one God and a special person called Jesus? What do you believe? |

277 | who are 300 appointed | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237796

278 | when you died where does the spirit go. | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237806
Before Christ the Jewish teaching was that Hades was the holding place of the dead. The unrighteous went to the hot dry place and the righteous went to Abraham's bosom which was also known as paradise. Jesus more or less confirmed this in the parable of Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31 Ephesians then tells us after Jesus death he led captive, captivity(those held by death) to heaven Eph 4:8 Since this Paul tells in 2 Cor 2:6-8 that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. So scripture says if you are saved and died your spirit would go into the presence of the Lord. And while Scripture doesn't spell it out, if you are unsaved your spirit still goes to the hot dry place in Hades. |

280 | what happens if you never knew jesus? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 237842
This is an often asked question on this forum and if you would do some searches you would find some interesting discussions. There are many opinions but few real conclusive pieces of evidence that tells us the answer to this question. Two things to keep in mind God has told us repeatedly he is fair and just. God has told us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. We can't get anyone saved they must do it themselves. And we shouldn't let the adversary Satan plant doubts about God's fairness in our minds. |
