261 | What does the bible say? | Bible general Archive 4 | DocTrinsograce | 202334
Hi, Terry... Per your profile: "Mass consciousness?" (sic) Fools outnumber the wise. Deaf outnumber the hearing. Blind outnumber the seeing. The wicked outnumber the righteous. The wayward outnumber the walkers in the way. The lost outnumber the saved. The world is at enmity with God. The devil seeks our collective destruction. If there is something like a "mass consciousness" exists, I'd run as fast as I could into a hermitage! Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (Philippians 2:5-8) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Hi, Terri... No, that phrase is pretty loaded with all sorts of non-biblical presuppositions, implications, and connotations. It is a notion alien to the sound doctrine of the Scriptures. In Him, Doc |

264 | Why do you dwell in the negative? | Bible general Archive 4 | DocTrinsograce | 202426
Hi, Terry... I dwell in the words and authority of a perfect Creator, Lord, and Savior. Why do you dwell in the hope and merit of a fallen, failed, faulty, creature collective? I've provided Scripture. Still waiting for you to do the same. In Him, Doc |

266 | Predistination and God | Bible general Archive 4 | DocTrinsograce | 202636
Dear Sandra, I apologize that it has taken me so long to reply to your question! You asked, "Can you explain to me in simple terms what predestination of God means?" Well, ma'am, I'll do my best. As you know, God is the creator of all things (Colossians 1:16). As the creator, He has the right to do what ever He wants with His creation (Psalm 115:3). In other words, He is the King (Psalm 95:3; Daniel 4:37). Because of the sin in the Garden of Eden, every one of Adam's descendants died (Romans 5:12), for the wages of sin are death (Genesis 2:17; Romans 6:23). But God, in His love and mercy, for His own glory (Isaiah 48:11), before any of this happened, chose to save some people (Ephesians 1:4). But God doesn't leave anything to chance (Proverbs 16:33) or to people getting everything right (John 1:13). Instead, He carefully arranges everything -- even the tiniest of things to the greatest of things -- to happen in just the right way so that His chosen people will be saved, adopted into His family, and made like Christ (Romans 8:29-30; Ephesians 1:5, 11). God has done it all, from start to finish. This is predestination. Brother's Steve and WOS answered rightly, but I've tried to give the answer in as simple terms as possible. I hope we've helped you understand this important Bible doctrine. In Him, Doc |

271 | Ezekiel's Temple updated | Bible general Archive 4 | DocTrinsograce | 203092
Dear Cheri, Last time we discussed this, I wrote: I really struggle with the idea of some future temple being efficacious in any way for believers. I simply can't buy the whole dispensational thing. There is only one altar: the cross. There is but one mediator: Jesus. God has made his dwelling within the believer, not outside the camp. Those things are so much more powerful than the old Levitical things that foreshadowed them. I've not run into anything that would change this opinion. In Him, Doc |

272 | "sons of God saw daughters of men?" | Bible general Archive 4 | DocTrinsograce | 203166
Hi, Hester... Welcome to the forum! Regarding the Nephilim, please use the search feature. This is an oft asked question. I suspect that every reasonable view -- and quite a few unreasonable ones -- have been expressed on this topic at some point in the past. Concerning your question regarding Genesis 6:6, you need to understand that Scripture often uses anthropomorphic language when describing God and His actions (see post #128206 for further explanation). 273 | Bible harmony | Bible general Archive 4 | DocTrinsograce | 203180
Hi, DUDUTJ... You will understand, first of all, that the Bible uses anthropomorphism in order to allow us to understand God (see post #128206). He is not capricious nor is He subject to swings of mood. When He is provoked, it is because that is the perfect response. When He is patient, it is because that is the perfect response. Even a human being can be easily provoked in one context, while patient in another. Christ Himself was compassionate in some contexts, while growing angry in others. Considering the complexity of creation, we should not be surprised to discover that our God is not simple. Who wants a simple God anyway? In Him, Doc |

274 | Deceived or not? | Bible general Archive 4 | DocTrinsograce | 203231
Hi, frii... Welcome to the forum! Have you noticed that you are asking questions about the past and the future? Only a tiny percent of the Bible deals with these things. They provide a huge amount of distraction and huge amount of debate. If you want to "scratch the surface" why start with this obscure stuff? If you want to build upon a sure foundation, build upon those things that are clear in the Scriptures. Why start with the appetizer or with dessert, when there is so much good, solid meat in the main course? The more you learn about Christianity, the more you'll realize how much effort is expended by fringe groups on all those border questions. Is it not sufficient to believe in childlike faith that God started it all and will finish it all, and that He will do it in His own way and to His own glory? God by "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence" (2 Peter 1:3). He has provided us salvation, for what we need to know cannot be understood by the lost (1 Corinthians 2:14); He has provided us His written and living Word (Hebrews 1:1-2); He has provided us the illumination of His Holy Spirit (John 14:26); He has gifted us with instruction from the prophets, apostles, and teachers through the church (Ephesians 4:7-14); and He has given us one another (Hebrews 3:11-15). So a find a good, solid, Biblical church where you will receive nurturing in Christ. In Him, Doc |

Hi, upset... If you remarried, then you are married in the eyes of God and man to the second husband. Your first husband remarried. He is married in the eyes of God and man to his wife. Ma'am, this forum is for Bible study. I really think you need to find a Bible believing church where you can learn to submit to the Word. You've received answers here, but you're unwilling to think them through. You need the counsel of Godly people directly, not over the Internet. It is time to put feet to your desire for answers. "On every page of the Bible I behold nothing but the cross, and its amazing retinue of suffering and glory. For me, patriarch and prophet and apostle all utter one voice, all point to Calvary, and cry, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world! As a minister, as a sinner, I have no theme, no hope, but Christ Jesus and Him crucified. On Him and Him alone, on the redundant merit of His atonement, my soul leans with a recumbency, a confidence, a delight unspeakable and full of glory." --Richard Fuller
