121 | Is hell eternal? Or is it temporary? | Mark 9:43 | Aixen7z4 | 130443
Mar 9: 43 If thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: 48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Matthew 3:12 … unquenchable fire. Matthew 18:8 …. everlasting fire. Matthew 25:41 … everlasting fire. Matthew 25:46 … everlasting punishment. 2 Thessalonians 1:9 … everlasting destruction. Revelation 21:8 … the lake … burneth with fire and brimstone. |

122 | Do we need the gospel to be saved? | Matt 24:14 | Aixen7z4 | 130433
Romans 10: 13 Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 (But) how … shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 … How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel... 18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. |

123 | The shaking of heaven and earth | Heb 12:26 | Aixen7z4 | 130386
Revelation 6: 12 I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? It is the reason we preach the gospel. Judgment day is coming. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men (2 Corinthians 5:11). |

124 | How is he compared to Moses? | Deut 18:15 | Aixen7z4 | 130019
Jesus was like Moses in that he was a prophet (Luke 24:19; John 4:19). He was meek (Numbers 12:3; Matthew 11:29; 2 Corinthians 10:1) Beyond that, he was faithful (Hebrews 3:2). As Moses transmitted what God gave him to say to the people (Exodus 19:19) so Jesus gave us what God had given to him to say (John 7:17;8:26,28;12:49,50;14:10). But Christ (Hebrews 3:6) was greater than Moses. While they were similar in some ways, Jesus was more than a prophet. Truth be known, Jesus was, and is, God (Hebrews 3:4;John 1:1-3). In some ways Moses is only a shadow of Christ. Moses delivered his people from bondage in Egypt (Exodus 16:32) but Jesus delivers us from the bondage of sin and Satan (Hebrews 2:14-15). Moses was not allowed to take them into Canaan (Numbers 20:12;Deuteronomy 32:52), but Jesus will take us into heaven (John 14:3). They were both prophets, but while Moses spoke the word of God (Deuteronomy 32:44), Jesus was the Word (John 1;Revelation 19:13) |

125 | Please who is "that prophet" in john1:25 | Deut 18:15 | Aixen7z4 | 129992
It is evident that the The Jews had been expecting a special prophet. Moses had told them there would be another one like him (Deuteronomy 18:15) and the Lord himself had promised that (Deuteronomy 18:18).
126 | What is God saying these days? | Ps 19:2 | Aixen7z4 | 127011
Thus saith the LORD, "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: "But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight", saith the LORD. Jeremiah 9:23,24. |

127 | What is God saying these days? | Ps 19:2 | Aixen7z4 | 127010
God, Jehovah God, has spoken, and calls to the earth from the rising of the sun to its going in. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shone. Our God comes, and He is not silent; a fire shall devour before Him; and it shall be very stormy around Him. He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, to judge His people. "Gather My saints together to Me, those who cut My covenant by sacrifice". And the heavens shall declare His righteousness, for God Himself is judge. Psalm 50:1-5 |

128 | What is God saying these days? | Ps 19:2 | Aixen7z4 | 127009
Thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: "I am the LORD; and there is none else. "I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right. "Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save. "Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else". Isaiah 45:18-22. |

129 | What is God saying these days? | Ps 19:2 | Aixen7z4 | 127008
“This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me”, saith the LORD. “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. “Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. “Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. “Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee. “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”. I said, “I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion. For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me. Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles. I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer”. Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, “Go, shut thyself within thine house. And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb. But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, ‘Thus saith the Lord God’.” Job 32:17-20; Ezekiel 3:24,26,27. |

And the LORD answered me, and said, "Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. 133 | What is God saying these days? | Ps 19:2 | Aixen7z4 | 127004
I was sitting alone and reading from the word of God, and it seemed I could hear God speaking. It reminded me of a time, in Numbers 7:89, when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, “then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him”. This is a day when many are proclaiming that the Lord has said this, and that he desires that. But what we are hearing is at best their understanding, and what they are offering is their interpretation and in some cases mere assumptions. Sometimes they seem to be presumptions. It seemed to me that there should be a place, perhaps this forum, perhaps this thread, where people could come to hear what the Lord says. This first post is an introduction. The rest would be direct quotations from the word of God. Who today can say, “Thus saith the LORD” or “This is what the LORD says”? We can, because we have his word. And this is one of the things the Lord says: He says, “I am the LORD: I will speak” (Ezekiel 12:25). |

134 | What is waiting on the Lord ? | Is 40:31 | Aixen7z4 | 125197
Waiting upon God is to be continuous. So many times the men of God say they will wait, but they do not say how long. It is something they would always do. It is as Job says (14:14) “All the days of my appointed time will I wait”. As you have sensed, waiting does not mean being idle. Abraham’s servant said, “I being in the way, the LORD led me” (Genesis 24:27). There is a sense in which we cannot help but wait on the Lord for the next step, the next breath, the next word, for we can do nothing without him. We remember then that “man’s goings are of the Lord” (Proverbs 20:24). There are times when we are impatient and want to move before the Lord has shown the way. A wise man has said it is OK to move if we are prepared to allow the Lord to steer us. If we want what we do to count, then we will wait continually on him for guidance. The children of Israel were told to stand still and wee the salvation of God. They were in a situation where they were unable to save themselves. The were literally unable to move. They had to wait on God to save them. We also have to wait on him for our salvation, because we cannot save ourselves. Apply that to the moment of salvation, from the penalty of sin. We had to call upon him and wait for him to save us (John 1:12;Jonah 2:9). Thank God that when he sees repentance and faith (Acts 20:21), he answers instantaneously (Acts 17:27). Apply that to present salvation, from the power of sin: We have to wait for that, even in the midst of suffering. We may have to wait a long time before he delivers us from the clutches of Satan (Job 2:6-42-10) or from sinful men (2 Thessalonians 3:2). Apply that to future salvation, from the presence of sin: We have to wait to be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God (Rom 8:21). This can be seen as waiting for death (Job 14:14) and resurrection (Job 19:25,26) or as waiting for the return of Christ (1 Thessalonians 1:10). We have to wait for those. Please read Psalm 62. There we will find that waiting is not only for salvation, as mentioned above and there (in Psalm 62: 1,2) but also for vindication (v.2,6) for his promises, the things he has made us to expect (v.5) for strength (v.7, as also Isaiah 40:31). “Trust in him at all times” (v.8). That trusting can be seen as waiting and working at the same time. Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. You ought to say, "If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that" (James 4:14,15). "Work" and "wait" go well together. |

135 | What is the exceeding sinfulness of sin? | Rom 7:13 | Aixen7z4 | 125192
Sin is a dangerous thing because it is deceptive. It is a terrible thing, because it aims to destroy us and our fellow man. It is a horrible thing, because it crosses God. We should shrink back in horror that we are capable of these things. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9). For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies (Matthew 15:19). It causes one to wonder whether that can be possibly true of one who professes to be a follower of Christ. After all, he does promise that he will take away our hearts of stone and give us hearts of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26; 2 Corinthians 5:17). For that reason many believers cannot abide the thought that they are still sinners. But vicious wickedness within the church forces one to ether revise his views about the sinful nature or to reduce the number of those that one looks on as saved people. In spite of our behaviors, the ones that we are proud of and the ones that we excuse, we know that neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9,10). And such were some of us: but we are washed, but we are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God (11). We are now dead to these things (Galatians 2:20). How can we who are dead to sin continue therein? (Romans 6). Many Christians consider themselves to be righteous and better than others (Luke 18) but we do not remember that even our righteousness is as filthy rags (Isaiah 64). We may forget that the righteousness that counts is not our own, but that which we have in Christ (Romans 4). We look down on the Pharisees, but do not realize that we are them. And no wonder, because we are blind. We see motes in the eyes of others but cannot see the beam in our own. We do not even consider that it is a sin to judge our brothers. But sin is exceedingly sinful, it is too horrible for words, because it grieves the heart of a loving God. And all sin is really against God (Psalm 51:4). We do hurt each other (Galatians 5:15) and we need forgiveness from each other (Luke 17:1-4). But we should know that when we persecute a brother, we are persecuting Christ (Acts 9:1-4). |

136 | Are there any scriptures in the bible th | 2 Cor 12:14 | Aixen7z4 | 125185
In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul makes reference to a fact that would have been accepted without argument, that it is parents who provide for children and not vice versa. His point was that he was their father in the faith and would come with gifts for them, spiritual gifts, rather than expecting them to take care of him. The fact that parents left an inheritance for thir children would have been known to them since it is found all through the Old testament. See Genesis 24:35-36; Genesis 31:14,15; Ruth 4:4,6; Proverbs 13:22; Proverbs 19:14, for example. |

This law in its principle is founded on the fact of man's having been made in the likeness of God (Gen. 9:5, 6; John 8:44; 1 John 3:12, 15). The Mosiac law prohibited any compensation for murder or the reprieve of the murderer (Ex. 21:12, 14; Deut. 19:11, 13; 2 Sam. 17:25; 20:10). Two witnesses were required in any capital case (Num. 35:19-30; Deut. 17:6-12). If the murderer could not be discovered, the city nearest the scene of the murder was required to make expiation for the crime committed (Deut. 21:1-9). These offences also were to be punished with death, (1) striking a parent; (2) cursing a parent; (3) kidnapping (Ex. 21:15-17; Deut. 27:16). Source: Easton's 1897 Bible Dictionary Jesus said, “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment" (matthew 5:21,22). |

138 | did jesus have brother's and sisters | NT general Archive 1 | Aixen7z4 | 124163
An interesting question. It seems that many are interested in the natural family of our Lord Jesus Christ. Someone has even suggested that he was married and had children. It might be interesting to hear what the Scriptures say, and what the Lord himself has to say about these things. Scripture indicates that, from a natural standpoint, Jesus had four brothers and perhaps three or more sisters (See Matthew 13:55,56). But how did Jesus look at these things? At the age of 12 he said he must be about his Father’s business. See Luke 2:49. It is clear he was not referring to his natural father, who was indeed not his father at all (Matthew 1:20). Someone once talked to him about his natural family. “But he answered and said unto him that told him, ‘Who is my mother? And who are my brethren?’ And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, ‘Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother’ (Matthew 12:48-50). You see that Jesus emphasized his spiritual family over his natural family. Of his brothers it was once said that they were not a part of his spiritual family because at that time they did not believe on him (John 7:5). In time, however, it is evident that all of them accepted him and were saved. That made them a part of his spiritual family (Matthew 12:50, John 6:29). I have given this long answer, my friend, to show God’s perspective on the matter. This forum has been the platform for discussion of a lot of Bible trivia. But the Bible is not given to satisfy our idle curiosity. Rather, it is given as God’s revelation of himself to us. The focus is on the Lord Jesus Christ, and he is shown to be our God and our Savior. We should know that he is the Son of God and that he came to save us and to make us into sons of God. The good news is that we can become a part of his family by believing in him. Compared to that, his natural family is of little importance. |

139 | what does jesus ascension mean for me | John 14:28 | Aixen7z4 | 124144
It is interesting how we tend to think in terms of what there is in it for me. It might be good to think for a moment on what the ascension meant for him. He had left the glories of heaven to come to this earth where he was despised and rejected and crucified. Is it not nice for him that he could return to heaven and to the position he had before? But yes, there is something in it for you if you have trusted him as your Savior. Because he has ascended, the Comforter has come (John 16:7), the Holy Spirit who lives in us (John 14:17). Because he has ascended, we also have gifts with which to serve him (Ephesians 4:8). He ascended so he could prepare a place for us (John 14:3). He ascended so he could be at the right hand of God to make intercession for us (1 John 2:1) and so he can save those who come to God through him (Hebrews 7:25). Because of his ascension “We see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour” (Hebrews 2:9). And yes, he is coming back to receive us (John 14:3), and we will share in his glory (John 14:24). |
