1 | where has this verse gone | 1 John 5:7 | dunedin | 54582
This verse is not found in most ancient greek mss. and was added by the Vatican to assure the christian believer that God is one, as is stated in Deut. 6:4 "Hear O Israel, the LORD our God is one LORD" The word for one is the hebrew word 'echad' meaning one in unity. There is another hebrew word that means solitary that word is 'yachid' used in Genesis, in reference to Isaac, the 'only' son whom God asked Abraham to offer to Him. Genesis 2 talks about man and woman becoming one 'echad' flesh. that is the same word used for God in Deut. 6:4. I hope that answers where the verse went. Again, it is not in all mss. from antiquity.
