1261 | sharing our faith to unbelievers so hard | 1 Cor 1:18 | stjohn | 199452
"For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, "This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased"-- and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. 2 peter 1:16-19 You see Jman? Peter said that the Scripture, is more sure then his even being an eye witness to the transfiguration! Don't you see it-?? Somehow Brother... I fear... you don't... sad... very.. very sad..... |

Hey Doc, That is quite a discourse at, http://www.biblebb.com/files/WRDFAITH.HTM WoW! I had no idea it went that deep. I'd heard among other such noise emanating from a too oft on television, snips and tidbits of the stuff, but only enough to make me shy. Again, wow! A good read. For what my opinion is worth, (two cents:-)) I'd defiantly recommend it! |

Amen Brother, And by faith and without fear, he left the riches of Egypt behind! verse 27. Something old K.C. should think about when he preaches on, perfect love casteth out fear! Satin is happy to let us have what we want, as long as we have to spin scripture to justify it! I'd like to see wether K.C. would change his tune if he lost everything and had to sleep on the street for a while! Maybe his reason would return to him? Nebuchadnezzar's sure did, but only after he ate dirt for quite some time! :-) Dan 4:34 "But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever; For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom endures from generation to generation." God Bless John |

1267 | As A Man Thinkeths | Mark 7:20 | stjohn | 199415
Hi PDAL, co-creators-?? Really? That must be something new! I haven't seen that in the Word of God! :-) --"Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding,"--Job 38:4-- As far as putting the focus on dollars and cents, 2 Cor 4:18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. By the way, there are other ways to give then to open your checkbook, and God doesn't ever promise that anyone will become richer in worldly things my friend. --"Your gold and your silver have rusted; and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have stored up your treasure!"-- James 5:3.-- I might suggest, if you don't mind, that you spend more time in The Word of God and less time watching tv and reading extra biblical books. Nothing wrong with having some money, but there is nothing wrong with not worrieing about not having any. where is your trust my friend? in your God or your checkbook-??-! ...co-creators-?? We don't get to choose what God has decided, in the way He will bless us! --"Therefore it says, "WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH, HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN."--Eph 4:8 --"God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will."-- Heb 2:4 Do you see it? --"according to His own will"-- You see we don't get to choose who gets what, HE DOES!! And to even suggest otherwise is unsound doctrine, and can dissolution and discourage those weaker in the faith! How can we tell a child of God that they are doing something wrong or there faith is weak if they are poor? Thats nonsense! Just look at those in other countries that are dyeing of starvation and persecution! Facts are facts my friend, God is in charge! And you can take THAT to the bank-!! If God has blessed you, thats great, good to hear it. Now, If you want to give something, Give out THE WORD OF GOD!! Giving out money doesn't get anyone into the presence of God, nether the giver nor the receiver! AMEN! God bless John Sorry if I am being harsh or ungraceful but that stuff, whatever you call it, makes me soo weary! May God richly bless you. |

1268 | End of God's wrath? | Rev 20:10 | stjohn | 199368
Amen, If we read the next chapter 21:1-6 I think we can see that. I also believe that His wrath is withheld from His children from the moment they/we believe. However that does not mean that every-thing's going to be okeydoekey all the time, or even some of the time for that mater. Just look at how christians are being treated in other countries, where they are being hacked to death with machetes! 1 Pet 4:12 "Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;" 1 John 3:13 "Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you." Of corse, discipline and persecution are not the same at all, but certainly both are a part of the believers walk. Heb 12:8 "But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons." I'm glad I'm a son! :-) How about you? God bless John |

1271 | As a believer can I commit suicide. | Matt 18:12 | stjohn | 199318
God bless your heart, LJ! And a warm welcome! :-) Sorry you saw us leaving someone hanging like that, that's pretty bad form at the forum. If I may point to verse again, if we look at the one who has wandered away and become lost. We can see that He, (The Good Shepherd) Goes and gets that sheep of His. I think we can say safely that His blood is sufficient to cover completely, all sin for His sheep, past, present, and future! Mark 3:28, John 17:9, John 17:24, John 18:9. God bless John |

1272 | As a believer can I commit suicide. | Matt 18:12 | stjohn | 199316
Hello LJ, You wrote, "You cannot commit suicide and still get into heaven." (sic) Can you please give us chapter and verse where it says in the bible that we cannot go to Heaven if we commit suicide? We should be very careful not to make statements that scripture does not support. We are here to study the Bible, not give out advice, and especially in areas that should be left up to pastors and professionals. Suicide is a very dangerous area to meddle in without some serious training. I hope you don't think I'm picking on you, I'd probably say the same to just about anyone. You also wrote "suicide is a form of judging yourself for wrong doing." (sis) Suicide is committed for a verity of reasons and It's maybe a little irresponsible to make a blanket statement like that. Some people commit suicide because of a medical disorder or disease. Do you think God judges someone for being sick? May I please refer you Matt 18:12 can you tell me what you think it means please? God bless John |

1275 | Dogs in eternity? | Rev 22:14 | stjohn | 199201
Hi Cheri, Yes, I'm not sure what you mean, but I think I do, and I think you're right about it referring to something physical, or at least literal, only that John says it in an allegorical (figure of speech) way. He is really, (I think) :-) talking about something quite literal /(physical), in most of Revelation, only He does it in a allegorical (figure of speech) way of righting. But most I hope should really know that, and I'm sure you already do. I guess, maybe, what might throw us off here is, the timing thing, I don't see where it's necessary to equate it to the there and then, which, of corse would be, John's here and now at the time he was writing it. Anyway, I hope I haven't just confused you even more! :-) And it just may be, that we are both confused on this one! :-) And anyway, just my two cents Sis. :-) Maybe, it's another one of those, you don't need to know, Duet 29:29 verses? God bless John p.s. Boy! Talk about being noncommittal! :-) |

Oh dear, Nick, are you being serious? You said, "I don't see anything about a repentant heart in there. Micah has one, but that is all I see." ?? Nick do see how utterly silly that is? You are contradicting yourself and butchering Holy Scripture! How do you expect anyone to take you seriously? If you don't mind Nick, will please keep that junk out of here? God bless John |

1277 | How do you find the right church? | Matt 4:4 | stjohn | 199044
Hi Barb, Once again I have to agree with my Brother. From what it sounds like, maybe you would do well to go back to your original church! And Ma'am, I hope you don't mind me reminding everyone that this a Bible study, not an advice page. Although, many of us are quite guilty of this from time to time! :-) But lets keep it Bible ok Sis. :-) By the way, many of us have awesome testimonies. But that goes just so far, and after that we need to get down to the word of God, and to prepare for giving it out by lots of study and hard work! And in that way, as we grow, we are able to defend our faith with confidence. Not just telling our story over and over. But HE WHO BOASTS IS TO BOAST IN THE LORD. For it is not he who commends himself that is approved, but he whom the Lord commends." 2 Cor 10:17-18, I hope this helps you Sister. God bless John |

Hi Barb, A warm welcome to you, Sis, :-) I'd like to second what Doc has said about worries in discernment. I thought it was a very good and very pertinent question! We appreciate you giving us a chance at the privilege of sharing our love for the Brethren by helping were we can and by the Grace of God; I pray that we do so. I hope you stick around. I loved your profile, by the way! Thanks for sharing your heart so simply and honestly! :-) God bless John |

1280 | True love! | Matt 11:23 | stjohn | 199025
"It scarce needs that I do more than rehearse in bare outline the reasons why we should tenderly compassionate the perishing sons of men. For first, observe, the dreadful nature of the calamity which will overwhelm them. Calamities occurring to our fellow men naturally awaken in us a feeling of commiseration; but what calamity under heaven can be equal to the ruin of a soul? What misery can be equal to that of a man cast away from God, and subject to his wrath world without end! Today your hearts are moved as you hear the harrowing details of war. They have been dreadful indeed; houses burnt, happy families driven as vagabonds upon the face of the earth, domestic circles and quiet households broken up, men wounded, mangled, massacred by thousands, and starved, I was about to say, by millions; but the miseries of war, if they were confined to this world alone, were nothing compared with the enormous catastrophe of tens of thousands of spirits accursed by sin, and driven by justice into the place where their worm dieth not, and their fire is not quenched. The edge of the sword grows blunt at last, the flame of war dies out for want of fuel, but, lo! I see before me a sword which is never quiet, a fire unquenchable. Alas! that the souls of men should fall beneath the infinite ire of justice. All your hearts have been moved of late with the thought of famine, famine in a great city. The dogs of war, and this the fiercest mastiff of them all, have laid hold upon the fair throat of the beautiful city which thought to sit as a lady for ever and see no sorrow; you are hastening with your gifts, if possible to remove her urgent want and to avert her starvation; but what is a famine of bread compared with that famine of the soul which our Lord describes when he represents it as pleading in vain for a drop of water to cool its tongue tormented in the flame? To be without bread for the body is terrible, but to be without the bread of life eternal, none of us can tell the weight of horror which lies there! When Robert Hall in one of the grand flights of his eloquence pictured the funeral of a lost soul, he made the sun to veil his light, and the moon her brightness; he covered the ocean with mourning and the heavens with sackcloth, and declared that if the whole fabric of nature could become animated and vocal, it would not be possible for her to utter a groan too deep, or a cry too piercing to express the magnitude and extent of the catastrophe. Time is not long enough for the sore lamentation which should attend the obsequies of a lost soul. Eternity must be charged with that boundless woe, and must utter it in weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. Not the tongues of prophets, nor of seraphs, could sew forth all the sorrow of what it is to be condemned from the mouth of mercy, damned by the Savior who died to save, pronounced accursed by rejected love. The evil is so immense that imagination finds no place, and understanding utterly fails. Brethren, if our bowels do not yearn for men who are daily hastening towards destruction, are we men at all?" --Charles H. Spurgeon (1871)
