Excellent post, Brother! Thank you WOS. So often, too often, it is that, many are confused by false teaching! Picking and choosing what "they" want, selfishly misinterpreting God's Word. I've been guilty of this myself, by the way. too often we think that God could use a little help. :-) God bless standing in His grace, and on His Word! John |

1143 | 4 questions about kings and priests | OT general | stjohn | 202122
Hi Cheri: I don't know for sure, but Saul too acted as a priest and was read the riot act by Samuel in 1 Sam 13:9-14 so I think It could also be him.
1144 | Which commandment was he talking about? | 1 Tim 6:14 | stjohn | 201914
Dear SON; I'd just like to second what Doc has said to you, along with Sister Azure's amen; and also add that, you will find, I'm sure (though we certainly are not perfect) that this forum is different from others that you may have participated in. Many, indeed most, of the regulars here truly strive to keep this place (in compliance with our gracious hosts, Terms Of Use) in the spirit of Christian love, a haven for those who love His Word and want to express love and devotion to one-another as well as to our Lord Jesus in our study of his Blessed Word, together, brothers and sisters, in Christ. Too that, I will add a warm welcome! God bless John |

1145 | Dan not mentioned in Revelations | Rev 7:1 | stjohn | 201834
Just an added note: Hosea 5:11b (because he willingly walked after the commandment) is not referring to any commandments given by God; but commandments of man. Indicating Ephraim feared man, and most likely, sought after the approval of man over their fear of God. Something we need to be ever so careful not to do, by the way. :-) God bless John |

1148 | Where - "cities without walls" prophecy? | Zech 2:4 | stjohn | 201648
Hi Jim, I gotta run too! But, I think Cheri is onto the right, "Trail" ;-) sorry about the pun, couldn't resist. Look at the end of Genesis, like Cheri suggested, I'm not sure but I think you might find what you're looking for. It's refreshing to see someone looking for prophecy that doesn't refer to end times, by the way. Most people, it seems, are more interested in the anti-christ, then they are interested in Christ. May the Lord bless you in your studies! God bless John |

1149 | The Final Analysis | Rom 13:8 | stjohn | 201604
Amen my lionhearted Brother: If I may add though, at the end of the day, truth be told, He, is the only one who really knows for sure! :-) Jeremiah 17:9 Though I know we can say for certain, "my name is written in the Lambs Book of Life", it is only because He is faithful and true, and His word can be trusted above all things. He says so, so, I know it's true. Thank you Brother for being here along with the many others at the forum, to help me along in my growth and knowledge of our Lord and His Word. The joy of fellowship I find here is beyond measure. I truly don't know were els I could find so much devotion to the righteous exposition His Word! :-) A really big thanks, and God bless to one and all! John More from our dear Sister, Mother Teresa: "There is always the danger that we may just do the work for the sake of the work. This is where the respect and the love and the devotion come in - that we do it to God, to Christ, and that's why we try to do it as beautifully as possible." Let us pray that we can be as faithful as she was, too the nth degree! ...Priceless indeed! |

1150 | The Final Analysis | Rom 13:8 | stjohn | 201601
"People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; ...Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; ...Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; ...Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; ...Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; ...Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; ...Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; ...Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; ...Give the world the best you've got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway." Adapted from Mother Teresas enlarged and framed sign, hung in the front lobby of her Nirmala Shishu Bhavan, the children’s home in Calcutta. |

1152 | Help for discouraged parents? | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 201455
Dear Justme, Mike; you show a great deal more grace in your last post, then I think I could muster in a month of sundays. You claim that your english is that of an adolescent, but your message comes through clear and clean in this mater, showing too, what is the important thing; love and forgiveness is the wisdom of a mature elder. I'm proud to call you brother, Brother! God bless John |

1154 | Exodus 23:19, last part mostly | Exodus | stjohn | 201304
You are, so welcome, my Sister! It's really such a comfort to know I can be a help. I believe by the way, that, there are no new revelations, and, in the words of one great teacher, I'm paraphrasing of course: "Given what we have in the holy scriptures: If God were to actually speak, from Heaven, today, He would just be repeating Himself! Shalom John |

1155 | could raised from the dead be spiritual | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 201274
Dear Brother Doc: That was very helpful! Thank you! Without missing the info in the first paragraph, I especially love your colorful depiction of Paul, in the second, pacing back and forth, lapsing passionately from teaching, into praise and prayer! However well imagined that picture may be; it's a great picture. He certainly was zealous for God! What a blessing it is to have his letters! Thanks again Doc. God bless John |

1156 | could raised from the dead be spiritual | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 201262
Hi Brother Doc, I think I could use your help, please, it just occurred to me that in Eph 2:5. there is a parenthetical insertion, as we find of course, plenty of instances of them being used in Scripture. This question posed itself: While reading along, I omitted the words in (parentheses), and it seemed to read better to me, and the parenthetical phrase seemed better perhaps, as a side-note, so was wondering if, the words of scripture found in parentheses, in general, are part of the original autograph? Now I know of course that, it is most common to read, words added, for, translation prepossess, in italics. But then, I seemed to remember that you had posted something about the proper understanding of (them) and their use, some time ago at SBF, but alas, it escapes me, and now I'm wondering if you could help me find that information? Thanks Doc. oh, in case I'm mistaken about what they are called, I'm talking about, these things ( ) .... :-) sorry, just one of those stones I trip on from time to time. Sorry too, if I may seem to harp on this a bit much, and many apologies for my redundancy, but something I missed as a youth, was, paying attention when some of these, fundamentals, of education were being given, and then, avoidance of the written word for much of my adult life! Not to worry though, I've learned to be a quick student,... Thanks to Him! :-) Funny what desire will do for a feller. God bless John p.s. I wasn't thinking of using this as a rule of thumb, (i.e. using parenthetical phrasing as a side-note) in my studying, unless it is proper, and, when their use is understood. So was interested in knowing what a proper understanding of their use, would be. |

1157 | could raised from the dead be spiritual | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 201258
Hi holyours, Welcome to the forum! In relation to your original question, I believe you are correct, that is if I understand what you are asking. Ephesians 2:5-6 does indeed refer to our spiritual rebirth. So in that case, (raised from the dead) is spiritual. "even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus," This should not however, be taken into our thinking when we read accounts of those actually being, physically, raised from the dead, such as in the case lazarus, who was raised from the dead, physically. Although both should be taken literally, one is spiritual, and the other physical. God bless John |

1158 | Did Mary, Jesus' Mother, worship Him? | Luke 1:46 | stjohn | 201104
Indeed Brother, she, did answer it well, I just copied it from a book! Lets pray that our souls be half as humble, worshipful and extolling toward God, as that young bondslave Mary was. Thanks Doc. |

1160 | how many verses in the whole bible | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 201090
Thanks bb, fortunately, I didn't need to take my shoes off for that! :-) though you underestimate my curiosity, (and the fact that nerds like research!) I had googled it already, but Hank had an answer first and it seemed satisfactory. I did glean this additional info however from: http://www.deafmissions.com/tally/bkchptrvrs.html Although this is not exclusive to KJV and is just an average compilation. Note: these figures do not account for verses "dropped" from some Bible translations (example: Matthew 18:11). Also, many of the Psalms have title/author information that is not numbered among the verses. Numbered Verses: 31,103 Unnumbered Verses: 137 Total: 31,240 I suppose I'm insufferably boring everyone with, superfluous details. Good to have you onboard here at the forum, by the way, and I appreciate your contribution. :-) God bless John |
