21 | Can satan read our mind. | Eph 4:18 | popdzl | 40642
Kalos, if you were to read all the scripture that speaks of the heart in conjunction with evil viz. Satan, you may find that evil manifests itself through the thoughts or desires of the heart. One does not commit an act of sin or wickedness until the desire is in one's heart. Because Satan has a certain ability to do something does not make him equal to God. I did not infer or imply that in my previous answer. Futhermore, if we look closer into Romans 8:27, we see that God has the ability to know "ALL" hearts whereas Satan only knows the heart of the sinful and wicked which all of us have been to a certain degree or another at one point in our lives. When our hearts become pure, Satan no longer has the ability to read them. Just as when you read my previous response, your heart was filled with some unpure emotion (probably pride), and Satan, seeing this emotion, used you to write a response filled with language which would have provoked my feelings of pride and caused me to strike back at you. However, through the grace of God and the power of discernment, his plan is thrawted. |

22 | Can satan read our mind. | Eph 4:18 | popdzl | 42030
Steve, I would like to thank you for note based on intellect and not emotion. I must confess that I had never read that Satan has the ability to read our hearts; an ordained minister told me that once, so I took it to heart. Your note has caused me to research (which I love) the subject, and although I have not found any verses which specifically states that Satan can read hearts, I have come up with many verses which expound on the relation of the heart to evil, sinful, and wicked thoughts. However, with your note in mind, I wanted to show a correlation between the heart and the devil. Before I go further, I would like to state a few postulates which I took as givens. 1) The flesh is man's sinful nature. 2) The devil is the source of all sin and wickedness. 3)The heart is the fertile ground in which both righteousness or evil are able to flourish. With these postulates in hand, let's go to the scripture. In Prov 6:18, Gen 6:5, and Gen 8:21, we see that the heart devises wicked imaginations. Jeremiah 4:14 shows that vain thouhgts lodge within the heart, and Jeremiah 17:9 goes on to state that the heart is "deceitful above all things and desperately wicked." In conclusion, in light of these, and other scripture, I believe that if Satan can not read the hearts of the sinful, he definitely knows the sinful and wicked thoughts before they enter one's heart. Either way, I believe it amounts to the same thing i.e. Satan knowing the heart of the wicked. |

23 | Is God hand so short that he cannot lead | Col 2:21 | popdzl | 88975
Tim, I do agree that there is a problem; whether in cornfield country (where I have never been) or in the bible belt (where I currently reside), the Church has become self-righteous akin to the Sadducees and the Pharisees. Many denominations have formed because someone did not agree with the CUSTOMS of the dominant denomination in their particular area as opposed to the DOCTRINE e.g. Catholics from the early Church; Protestants from Catholics; Baptist from Presbyterian; etc. On down to today, the myriad of denominations mainly exist because of some disagreement on customs (the Sadducees and Pharisees were separated on points of doctrine). The sad part of it all is that Jesus taught against division. The body is to be united, however, many churches can not see beyond their insignificant differences (any difference based on a custom is slight) in order to come together for the sake of building the Kingdom of God. It is a reflection or maybe the cause of what is wrong with this country (racism) and the world (nationalism). The irony of it all, Edb, is that EVERYBODY thinks that they are right because this guy or that guy believes the same thing or because they went to this seminary or that seminary and this is what they were taught (indoctrination). Clearly in Paul's day there were already false teachings and teachers. How much more so do you think there are today? The Adversary is smarter than ANYBODY. He knows how to manipulate a situation so that the focus of those on the Way is shifted from the finish line to golden apples along the wayside. (Yes this is a reference to Greek mythology but it is not the focus here). Many people teach for their own glory-the glory that comes when people follow what they say; therefore they "teach" about things which they do not know and substitute speculation for truth. Look at many of the postings on this website and consider the debates spawned from questions which no man can answer. What it all boils down to is that people will do whatever they want and use anything to justify it. Sadly, this is practiced by the Church of Today. Peace be unto you in the name of Jesus |

Dear Justme, First let me start by apologizing to any whom I may offended, however, I am afraid that you (and possibly others) have missed the mark of what I said in lieu of the original question. Secondly, let me attempt to clarify some statements I wrote in my last posting. I stated that separations based on CUSTOMS not BELIEFS are trivial and that the source of this type of division is a root of racism and nationalism. I in no way implied or inferred that any church or denomination is racist. As far as the question of pride in (y)our country is concerned, pride leads to all types of problems, however, that is another subject. Concerning my statements on indoctrination and false teachers, I would like to state that I was not saying that seminary students are parrots; the thought, in response to a specific comment, is that just because a person went to seminary does not mean that their beliefs are valid or rather authoritative. In addition, I never said that all teachers are false teachers; the statement is meant as a warning to people who put their belief in the academic credentials of others. Again, I am not saying that all teachers, whether in seminaries or not, are false teachers, however, think on this, if you want to deceive the most people, the most effecient and effective way is by attempting to deceive the teacher's teacher. As far as my statement about this forum, I love this forum because it gives people the opportunity to ask questions and get no-nonsense responses. But, the nature of the material discussed on this forum lends itself to speculation for the simple fact that now we see dimly as a person looking into a mirror and that now we know in part; what is known in part is not known. All responses are not answers. Lastly, I would like to say in conclusion, whosever God loves, He chastens. Peace in Christ Jesus be unto you. |
