703 | Christmas | Jer 10:1 | justme | 107122
Morant61: Merry Christmas Tim! I agree with you and you state the reasons quite well. The celebration of "easter" is my pet peive! As Christians I want nothing to do with "estar" the supposedly godess of fertility. The celebration is "Resurrection Sunday" and is the celebration of the Lord Jesus Christ being resurrected. That's my idea of a pagen working it's way into Christ's Lordship. Any Thoughts? Blesings. justme |

705 | Saved or not ? | Jer 17:9 | justme | 189019
WOS: I believe those who are genuinely followers of Jesus Christ (saved) do show they are born again. Even if I don't know ones heart, in my opinion if there is no fruits of the Spirit then there is reason to assume that person needs Jesus. Perhaps it is better to present Christ several times and to make sure they have heard the good news of Jesus. Making an assumption that a person is saved without some indication lived out in their life, would be a serious miastake. That is why you might have come to the conclusion that you did. My intentions are always ment to ne kind, respectfull, and made in Christian love. Blessings. justme |

707 | I Have Not Sent Them | Jer 27:15 | justme | 241823
Doc: I watched Strange Fire different speakers on You tube. After watching the speakers, and I watch John MacArthur, and record his messages. If fact My wife and I had considered going to His college, but we could not arrange our finances to afford it. We bought STRANGE FIRE, and I had to re-read portions several times. However, I doubt any genuine mature Christian could disagree with the examples MacArthur presented of greedy hypocrites. Some being as glaring examples like Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, and those who run Trinity Broadcasting Network. These are glaring examples, the ones who just slip under being noticed are my personal concern. There are those who connect themselves with helping the suffering Jews, and mix Jewish and Christian Theology and using verses from the Old Testament as if to give proof the Jews will also be given a second chance and therefore we should consider the Jewish people as brothers, and we Christians must give this Jewish Christian money to feed these poor people. The overhead, some groups have must be checked out before being involved. Not only these groups but when the money the people running any charity get is more that about ten percent and salaries are clearly outrageous, it's a sham. There are Ministries like Dr. Charles Stanley's that are clearly ministry. There are a good number like Dr. Stanley. As long as our church home is not suffering because we neglect proper Biblical giving to it first. Every false ministry is centered around money, becoming wealthy. that and being held in high respect by titles like Prophet, Cardinal, Father, The Very Reverend so and so, all these are titles misused to gain forced respect, and to command a large income. How many genuine Pastors income is so small, and often Pastors are Bi Vocational, and there is no such thing as a part time pastor. But often the general public thinks the Pastor gets all the offering on Sunday. I know this as I served four churches as Bi Vocational. What is sad is he honest, loving, hard working Pastor's who serve with great love, seldom get brought out into the general public's eye. Because these false teachers, and phony preachers get most all of the attention. STRANGE FIRE gives due attention for most Christians and non Christians to be alert to some serious counterfeit so called Christians. To be honest I have not cone to the total agreement with some of his conclusions, in exemption of some people as genuine Christians, that may be stepping out to far. Justme |

Doc: About 25 years ago or so J I Packer wrote HOT TUB RELIGION. It was a excellent read then and perhaps it's a more fitting read for our time today. I would add that pain too is a excellent way to learn how to mature in love for Christ and our fellow brother's and sister's. God bless you Doc! justme |

709 | Cremation after death? Go to heaven? | Ezek 37:4 | justme | 228384
Doc: I have had a hard time dealing with the subject of cremation. I believe cremation is a rather sad thing to read about in the news paper. In our community when a person is cremated, it reads that such a person died on the date and place. Then it say no services are planned at this time becaues at the persons request a service will be held later. Ofter just a private for the spreading of the ashes and that's it. No record for future family to make, or way of fimding what happened to the ashes. It is almost as if the persons life just ended and that's it. A memorial service with a casket or urn really helps with natural grief for those who knew the deceased. Even with those deceased who have no one to contact, and are basicly paupers have a clergy to say a prayer before being burried in places where I have been. I think it's important to at give recognition to God who gives all persons life. We have had family members choose cremation. There was no memorial service for several months. This was like the person just stopped existing. This left an empty feeling and a deeper feeling of loss. Again this is just what I have observed, and personally felt. Blessings Doc. justme |

710 | Anti Christ? Is America Babylon or Iraq? | Daniel | justme | 73977
richilou 2003: I would have more respect for the "left behind" booksif it was clearly stated that the Author's were adding fiction to make the books marketable. I have seen a church library that had the set and the books were treated like commentaries, and exact theology of the end time studies. I have been studing what scripture for a good length of time and I have yet to see but just a few who in complete honesty say there is merit for different views to the pre, mid, and post-tribulation return of Christ. Look carefully at Matthew 24:29 " But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken." 30. "And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. 31. And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other." NASB Updated Those words are from our Lord Jesus Christ. Could He make it any clearer to understand? I would like anyone to tell me this took place in AD 70 or any other time up to now. So I find a real problem with Darbys theory that is so commonly held today. I think any theory that does not follow what Jesus saod here has a very serious flaw. When this will happen, not even Jesus knew, ONLY the FATHER! We are told to be ready, prepared, and expectant, and steadfast. Jesus said several times that when you think His return has to be now He said its "not yet". The left behind theology has become almost cultic, in the way if one dares to oppose or proclaim what Jesus actually did say you are looked down as ignorant or liberal. I do believ we need to be ready as Jesus could come atany time, and we need to live as we may very well live to the age of passing on in old age. I resent scaring people to make people say a prayer, and have come to a fearful knowlwdge of God but not a saving knowledge of God's only Son Jesus Christ! I personally think we are yet to be even in the birth pains, of Christs return. I am waiting to see "immediately after the tribulation" as verse 29 says the things to happen. Those things Jesus said are "yet to happem". I by no means clain to be an expert on the end times, but I can and do believe what our Lord said. For me that is enough. I am far to busy trin to let the Lords Love show through me to be so overwhelmed with the Left behind theology. Think even at 10 dollars a book that has been sold so far, that amount could have been used the real work of Lord rather than entertainment, and fiction at that. I am surs some will say look at how many have come to christ threw these books. I say real Scripture presented person to person could do far better! justme |

714 | Isn't adultrey grounds for divorce? | Hosea | justme | 58196
Aristarchus:There are many answers to the question on divorce, adultrey, remarriage, and the lists gets so compleciated, it become a tangled mess for justification. There is really only one reason for divorce, HARDNESS OF HEART. Adulyrey is forgiveable. The problem is damaged emotioms that result in hard hearts. God knowing women and men are human and emotions can kill not only the spirit but the body as well. Either way divorce or working to restore trust and love takes time, and pain. Very few Christians are willing to go through the pain it requires to fix it right. There are circumstances that end the marriage with no hope of restoration. But just because you don't male me happy is not justified in scripture anywhere. agape, justme |

716 | The Ordination of Women | Joel 2:28 | justme | 61205
Searcher:This is a question many churches are facing today, and there is no easy answer. I would ask what does this lady feel she is being called to do? Is she prepared to go to seminary to make her axe as sharp as she can be? I was an American Baptist that encourages women to become Pastors. Their belief is females are open for any position in the church. As a whole most American Baptist Churches agree with this policy. Some do notand are not required to follow these guides. In Southerd Baptist a Divorced person is very limited as to what they are allowed to do. But with SBC each church is independant and makes up their own guides. I personally feel if this is causing such srtife that perhaps the lady needs to go to a church that is open to ordaining of women, rather than cause such a division in the church. Your pastor might well be the person to follow through in tring to seek a solution for all concerned. The United States still has a long way to go in accepting women as pastors as equal to men. The number of churches that allow women to serve as Elders and Deacons, is not widely accepted either. The genuineness of this ladies call will be proven by the call from the Lord being manisfested by the call of the church. To ask to be ordained before one has a ministry seems backwards. Usually the church calling the person, will have a time of watching then if found worthy they conduct and ordination comittee question time. If the person is able to present the required writings and theoligacial statements, and is accepted by the questioning comittee. Then they are recommended for ordination. Usually Probation or a tempoary Certificate of Ministry is given before Ordination takes place. For those who are American Baptist this is a lengthy strenious ordeal. Just being ordained has spiritual responsibilities that one must be very sure of. I hope this helps. justme |

717 | The Ordination of Women | Joel 2:28 | justme | 61384
Searcher56: You have got the point exactly! I do not think a true calling, a person believes is from the Lord, would cause such disruption of a church. In the end the call is confirmed by the person finding their ministry and minister. Many have left their church of origin and moved to another and found the Lord uses many different Christian churches, despite some wide theological different beliefs. Crossing demoninations has serious drawbacks. There will be losses, in friendships, support, and those you leave may well be unforgiving. Then on top of the list of changing demoninations means learning how that system works, which can be quite hard. Becoming accepted by the new demonination takes time, to build trust and getting to know who is who, and how the authority system works. I went from being an ordained Southern Baptist, To American Baptist. My ordination had to be reviewed, and I had to do a full theological desertation paper, That took almost six months. Then I went before a selected group, made up specfically for ordination recommendation. This was very difficult, and then learning a totally new way of relating to those in authority over me. As we agreed, we go where we can serve, and it does take much prayer, and knowing what you are doing is the Lords will for you. I sincerely hope your church and this lady can work together to help her find the place for which God is calling her. justme. |

718 | The Ordination of Women | Joel 2:28 | justme | 61456
Searcher:I did not think it was too much. ABC just expects their pastors to be more educated and have a solid foundation theologicaly. I went to the SBC Seminary 1 year ans ABC three more to get two degrees. All that was a blessing! I can say the most important thing I knew before seminary, is even more true afterwards. Jesus loves me! This I know for the Bible tells me so everyday of my life! I also learned just because you have gone to seminary does not mean you are a spiritual person. To become Christlike takes a life time, not just a few years. I am retired now and attend a non-denominational church. So I would say as you did, go where you can serve. Thanks for your reply. justme |

719 | Have you looked at the published TNIV/ | Nahum | justme | 147555
Searcher56: I must be having a time of testing, or I am failing to communicate in a understandable way. I thought this would be an easy question to answer, as it turns out I guess it is'nt. I had hoped someone who had actually gleaned over some pages of the current punlished TNIV would have responded. At least that was my intended hope anyway. The reason I am so interested is that when I preiview the New Testament (perhaps about 18 months ago) I was not one who expressed any hope for it's acceptance by conserative Christians. There appeared to me at be a homosexual bais, and definately has inclusive language to an unacceptable level as far as I was concerned. I personally contacted Dr. Henry Moler, one of the Greek translators at the start of the NIV. Dr. Moler after going over several groups of words in verses related to Romans Chapter 1. felt there was incorrect translation, and felt this waqs a serious attempt to change the meaning of certian words. Having only the basic tools to do word study in Greek, Dr. Moler agreed with my assment that there were mistranslated words in Romans in several chapters. However, upon seeing the TNIV in the completed publication I was able to glean the TNIV for less than fifteen minuets. I was pleased that the areas in Romans I looked at seemed changed, and more acceptable. I say this with Romans 14:22 in mind, as I am not giving my "OK" on the TNIV. The Lemstone Book Store I frequent says they have had little interest in the TNIV, ans sales are flat. From my observation the shelves look as full as when the first were diaplayed. The same is true for the ESV, which is not in the same standard by any means. The ESV has solid conserative backing, and I hope to get one sometine. As an added note, today there were no less than 20 different study Bibles, and it was overwhelming. Zondervan Bible Publishers once said to their sales persons, that the Bible was the most published and sold book, that was hardly ever read! You proberly won't find this amusing, but the sad fact is it is a true statement. Unless one is following Bible Translation sales (which I find very interesting) it is difficult to know which translation is really the most purchased. Believe me, translators have not much to do with how well a translation will sell. How much advertizement money is spent, and the free translations given to high profiled respected Christian leaders, in exchange for written reccomendations of the translation. Notice how often some noteworthy people repeadedly write these previews. In one Christianity Today sometime ago I saw a person who had three reccomendations for two translations and a foward to a book. These are all factors to getting a Translation to sell well. So there is a lot of marketing to do if a translation or book is to make a hit, "that is the bottom line". Blessings. justme |

Hank:-) I continue to marvel at the number of Bibles that different radio and TV teachers have that use their name next the words HOLY BIBLE. That really gets my goat. I would never for even a split second use the word Holy when refereing to my teaching with Scripture. I personally think mans "Holy" best is so not compairable with Scriptures everlasting breath of the HOLY FATHER. I have no real Idea how much is really made off Bibles, but no one makes a product and does not make a profit for long and stay in business. However I do see ot the Bible Factory Outlet in Osage Beach Missouri that they take 40 to 50 percent off their Bibles. Most are not real leather and are proberly not the "Latest Model Bible". Wow, as if the Bible ever goes out of style! Perhaps you might remember my remarks about my preview of the TNIV. I said it then and now, the TNIV is going to damage the NIV's sales. Mr. Zondervan would be ashamed how his publishing house has gone. How very sad it was taken over by Merdock, he is not one to have a Bible publishing business thats for sure. Perhaps if EdB would give me his address I might be able to send him my abused preivew of the TNIV New Testament? Blessings, Hank. justme |
