581 | Pologomy Allowed? | Ex 21:10 | justme | 103146
headdoc5: I read your last note and then went back and read all the thread. I found it very interestion on how easy it is to assume so much that is incorrect. There were several splinters and many notes (even by me) that took your question to a different level. I for one learned to ask nore questions, before offering a response. I sometimes feel Christians live in a closter, and don't see beyond the small window outside, which limits our vision. I have taken your experiment to heart and will learn from it. I will say if you had identified your situation and your profession the response would have been quite different. Howeever I would have not learned as muchabout my self that way either. You might try this test anain, iith a different situation next time and see if there is the same results. I hope I will respond in a different way. Blessings. By the way as a Christian Psychologists, how does being a Christian make your methods any diggerent than those who are not Christians? We often read or hear go to a Christian Counselor, is this a fair statement in your opoinion? juustme |

583 | Money stole from illegal establishment? | Ex 22:9 | justme | 54359
Emmaus : Your advice is street wise. Many a Christian and nieve person has faced a premature death because they presumed on Gods grace. I sat near a 20 yearold male charged with murder, for tow trials, First was a hung jury. The last had dirty witnesses. His life has been a living hell on earth, I was striped searched evertime I went to visit, I could ware no shoes, socks, or shirt or belt just shorts and pants. He was allowed to ware just ubder shorts and chained to a bed and able to use the tolet/sink. He sleped on a stainless steeel bed of sorts. No matter what this person does there are big risks either way. Most pastors don;t know how to deal with this. Per haps Chuck Colsoms ministry might help with some idea. There are men who will put away someone for less that 100 dollars. I worked in a down Phoenix mission and i got smart real fast! My advice is feed the hungry first, Then they can listen with a full belly. I will remember Ammi's friend in prayer. agape, justme |

584 | sex leading to marriage? | Ex 22:16 | justme | 105789
Mararios: This is a wide open door for a situation ethetisis. I doubt few of us have not known of a couple who has had to face this very situation. The cold statistics say more than half of "Christian brides" are pregnant. So many pastors are facing counseling with less than ideal reasons for people wanting to get married. I would be more concerned about is this couple really Christians. If one was and one was not I would not consider advising them to marry. I believe this would unequally yoke a couple who had made enough sin, without adding to the problems. I question what scripture that would back FORCING anyone to marry. Perhaps wiser counseling might be to spend whatever time is needed to help develope Christian responsibility and a solid foundation to assure a solid marriage if it ia at all possible could take place. There are so many veriables that a single blanket statement seem hard to justify forcing a marriage. Any thoughts? Blessings. justme |

585 | sex leading to marriage? | Ex 22:16 | justme | 105795
Makarios:-) I agree with you entirely. This gives all the more reason for the person who marries such a couple the mandate to seek God's will. There no easy answers when satan has his desire to destroy lives for eternity. Blessings Markarios. justme |

586 | Scriptures verses banning incest? | Leviticus | justme | 50075
Dear Jungleman: Incest is most assurdly illegal. In fact if you know of a situation of incest and do not report it you can be held responsible for allowing it to continue. However there is no doubt that Cain had to have married a sister or niece. The gene pool was purer then and that was Gods way to populate the earth. However there are some genethisits that now say first cousins marring is not considered the risk that once was believed. In some states I have been told first cousins can marry. I still believe that when God gave us Livitical laws they were an end to allowing family inter-marriage. Hope this adds to your information. agape, justme |

587 | Homosexuality and Christianity? | Leviticus | justme | 66592
D.a.P: King James 1611 version says,"Leuiticus CHAP.XVII 22.Thou shalt not lie with man kinde, as with womankinde: it is abmination." The Hebrew says Leviticus 18:22 "And with a male, not you shall lie as one lies with a woman; detestable it is." Your understanding of Scripture is fatally flawed! Homosexuality is same sex, sexual relations. This verse leaves no exceptions. The word homosexuality was not used, the sexual act is described in detail! God did not create Adam and Steve! God created Adam and Eve, man and woman, God made them to be sexually expressive in their love for each other, and pleasure, and also reproduce. They sinned, and when sin entered the world everything became open for man to choose to do right or wrong. Where is the credible Medical and Scientific reference that homosexuality is genetic? There is no indisputable evidence for genetic homosexuality. You are incorrect about David and Jonathan 1Samuel 18:1 Jonathan loved David as himself. Their love was as brothers, the language in no way implies this was sexual love! Ruth was Naomi's daughter-in-law!. Jesus Christ did address sexual immorality. In Matthew 5:27-28 Jesus said impure thoughts start the sin. The Jewish law were to stone to death adulters. Homosexuals were regarded as worse! Jesus said to guard our hearts from sin. Jesus never mention sex with animals. Does that make beastuality make it acceptable? You said the Bible has many contradictions and there have been 27,000 editions of the Bible. Give me some proof! To rebut your misinformation, the older manuscripts prove exactly the very opposite! Older manuscripts proved as the scribes copied they were very accurate. In compairing the Dead Sea Scrolls of Isaiah for instance, there is insignificant differences that are even noticeable. The more manuscripts we find, the greater reliablity there is for the Scripture we have. When you say that "Hebrew and Greek can not fully be translated into todays English", are you an expert in either of these languages? The Lockman Foundation (who's forum this is) have many PHD's who specialize in Greek or Hebrew, have translated the NEW AMERICAN STANDARD BIBLE. This Bible is the most accurate word for word English translation today. The New International Version (translation)would be the most acurate in thought for thought. Your assumption that we have nothing very reliable is seriously flawed. The fact you use small j for Jesus and a g for God seems to be intentional, am I correct? With the many errors that you have stated in your note, I can fully understand why you might believe that same sex, sexual relations would be acceptable. Romans 1:25 states you "have exchanged the truth of God for a lie,". and verse 27 "And in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the penalty of their error." verse 32"and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them." Now that pretty well describes your note to the full extent I would say. You call yourself "Defender against Prejudice". I ask who are you defending? Against what person's prejudice? You need to change your name to "Defender for defiance against God" When you say God created us in His Image, you have the totally wrong meaning. For God is neither male or female. If you are suggesting that God approves of, or, that homosexuality in any way is in God's created Image, you are in total error! Please allow me to say that God does love you as a man. God calls disobedience, sin. Homosexuality is sin. God calls sinners to stop the lifestyle of sin, and repent. Jesus Christ desires to be your Lord, you can become a follower of Jesus. There are degrees of sin, but all sin is forgiven in the same way. Your support of homosexuality is in direct defiance, and goes against what is taught through out the entire Bible. Either God and the Word of God is right, and you are wrong, or the Bible is full of lies, and there is no God, and you are right. There is no inbetween. You deside for yourself. Is God prejudice against sin? Yes, God is prejudice against sin!Homosexuality is sin, and it is by your choice. Homosexality can be overcome. With God all things are possible! May this bring awareness that God loves you, and is there for you, and will accept all those who come and let the Holy Spirit change their life. This is my prayer for you. justme |

592 | Unclean food for the Christian? | Lev 1:1 | justme | 105907
Kwigger: Thank you for your kind response. There have been others who shared much the same as you have with me, and Ed. You have been in a wide range of churches and I can understand how this experience has brought you to some of your conclusions. In the four types of churches you mentioned there is great diversity, and much they do not agree on. You have seen the the extreme ends of theology in several doctrinal areas. That would be enough to alter just about anyone. I am sure there is not much hope of any dialogue between us changing either of our theologies. Ed and I are very much alike in our beliefs. May I say with respect and kindness, I thank you for your note. I see nothing to be gained by any further dialogue, perhaps you might find more fellowship in another fourm that is more in your theological perspective. In the past people with your perspective have been quite arguementive and eventually left with less than good feelings. I hope this does not happen to, or with you. You have every right to believe as you wish, and I respect that. However, my belief is in opposition to your belief. This is a Bible Study Forum that does stand for the New Covenant of Christ Jesus the one and only Son of Yahweh. You have choosen to live under the Law, and you are free to do so. But please show the same respect and not disrupt the primary belief of this forum, please. Peace. justme |

593 | Unclean food for the Christian? | Lev 1:1 | justme | 105983
Kwigger: By no means I am I attempting to belittle your beliefs. I wiil say that your assumption that me or anyone else is just joining a church and going with the flow is a rather broad statement, especially when you really do not personally know anyone here that close. I belong to a church that does not have membership. I am sure many on this froum would bluntly say I think for myself and when the flow is not correct I have no problem speaking up. With respect I am not in agreement with belief in keeping the law and dietary laws. If you believ that is what is best for you fine. I happen to not want to dialogue about it. My time is limited, and my investment of who I choose to invest it in this forum is best spent with a potential of real dialogue. There is no such possible results with your beliefs. I hope you will be understanding, as my intent is not to be unkind. Peace. justme |

Hank: We here in Missouri are quick to ring a chickens neck. Would that be close to strangling? Ringing a chickens neck is a pretty foul thing to do. What da you think? As for strangling a cow, any Missouri country boy knows not to kill a cow! A cow's for milken, and steers are fer eaten. You all in the South need some learnen about killen and eaten that's for sure! Last I heard about Wallies World killen steers there werent no mention of no hootenanny. Maybe down south of Missouri they do kind wild stuff like that there. As fer me and my woman and youngens, we've been warned about you southerners and them hootenannies. So be ware, we are ready to stand up again your brand of foolin, it just don't gown like a half a cup of spit, as you all once said. As for the Ozarks you all speak only for your neck of the woods. Us Ozarkians here do things different up here. Where did I put my rope, we got a hog to strangle on over ta ridge. Peace uall. justme |

595 | Searching for the truth | Lev 18:22 | justme | 92388
Hank:-) Greetings U all. Just as a added note one of the Methodust who hold a very high position, denies Jesus was devine, but only a child of Mary and Joseph. Jimmy Draper of theSBC wrote a book a couple decades ago called THE AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE. This is one of the best books I have ever read on the must of elevating Scripture to the High position of Gods WORD in written form. If ever you have the chance to read it do so. The only way to read into the Bible that any sin is is acceptable is to twist and stick in added words to make their rewrite of scripture fit the exception of sin. The best example I have seen recently of this is the TNIV and the NRSV. Both versions have agendas that are made to fit the world today. Blessings Brother Hank! justme |

Hank;-) Lets see if my California addition is still up to todays standards, with the KJV New Testament 36 years plus your 15 years (Lord forgive me for I KNOW what I do) that makes you about 51 right? I too, was brought up on the Old KJV and have the first Bible given to me when I graduated from junor grade to forth grade in Sunday School. Oh my that's 49 years ago! Eeks, I had never really added that up before! I did most of my memory work from the KJV. I personally use the NASB updated, when cpmpaired to the NKJV they read almost sid by side with a few minor differences. Besides I have to give a good advertizement for Lockman once and a while. Oh, I noticed the NASB is not in the Life Application Study Bible. I have it in the NIV and the notes are very good, and with the NASB it should be better. Thanks for the note and Blessings Hank. justme |

597 | Wise Christian spending? | Lev 19:18 | justme | 140136
MJH: China is one of hundreds of countries I will mention. People earn 25 to 50 cents an hour! Would this not be one of the hundreds of slave labor countries, that WalMart uses to supply us with substandard products, and that have cost the USA over a million jobs so far. Do we not owe our fellow Americans workers the kindness to but American made goods when possible?y American made I include Canada, Mexico, and ever Central America. Any thoughts? justme |

598 | Wise Christian spending? | Lev 19:18 | justme | 140155
EdB: Merry Christmas Ed! My dad told me of times he worked for very little a day back when....? However, I have never heard anyone recalling those days without telling how much they suffered as well. My first new car was a 64 Chevy and it cost 2,882.00. It lacked every safty satanard we have today! Compaired to the car we got this year about 4 times a much, and gets 33mpg I will take the things of today, thank you. Having been to a few thrid world countries, there are certian things that cost the same no matter where you live. For example tolet paper costs pretty much the same everywhere. No place on earth is 25 to 50 cents an hour a anything but slave wages. May I suggest that here in the USA we have so excepted Walmarts 10. dollar cheap shoes that come from China, and last maybe three months, over a 125 dollar pair of USA made genuine leather shoes that last five or more years and can be resoled! I believe if we continue to act unwisely by buying cheap foreign goods, eventually our wages will continue to go down to match those cheaper cost and poorer quailty goods we buy. There are very few skilled labor jobs get paid a high as they did say 15 years ago. Yet we are telling the X generation they should save up more and more for education and future retirement. We have a generation that sees most things as expendable, and to use until a bigger and better item comes along, be it cars, houses, or husbands and wives. Ed, if we as a country all stopped buying a certian item we wanted to come down in price, that would have the very opposite results, costs would increase because quanity reduces production costs. Scriptually I would say a workman is worthy of his wages. As Christians we need to bring attention to the countries like China that treat the labor so much like slaves. What are your thoughts? justme |

599 | Are tatoos allowed? | Lev 19:28 | justme | 228249
Beja: I had a very close older mentor, who was retired from the United States Navy. He surrendered to Christ at the Pacific Garden Mission located in Chicago IL. while on leave before his retirement from the Navy around 35 yrs old. Soon after he and his wife felt Gods call into the ministry and he studied at Moody Bible College. He also worked as a minister at the Pacific Garden Misson while in Bible College. Before he attended Moody B.C. he felt so ashamed of the naked lady on his right arm, he took a razor blade and attempted to scrape the tattoo off his arm. From that point on he wore long slieve shirts for the rest of his life. He showed me the mess on his arm, and I was able to see the deep wounds and still the outline of a female figure. Les Gentry was this dear friend and mentor to me for nearly 30 years. Les encouraged me and my wife while in college, seminary, and in full time ministry. Les and his wife are with the Lord now. Les encouraged an innumerable pastors and missionaries. The point is he was ashamed of his "mess on my arm" all his life after surrendering to Christ. I do not believe a tattoo is wise at anytime. For me, I believe it is a sin, and I do not put aside the Old Testament instruction about marking the body. However if anyone is so head strong and determined to be branded (tattooed) then let it be for a witness to their faith in Christ. Justme |
