541 | Creation Account: Mythical or Not? | Gen 1:27 | justme | 85403
Hank: I wonder how in the world you came out to be so basic in your faith. I experienced sitting under a neo-orthodox Professor at an SBC seminary who believed in the JEPD theory, and felt the first three chapters of Genesis were an alegory. This course was Old Testament History. I was unchangable in ny genuine belief that ALL the chapters from cover to cover are one hundred percent accurate as stated. Because I was "unteachable" I got a D- for the grade. I am still proud of that D-! Do you think most of the people in the pews know that a good percent of seminary professors are neo-orthodox? Do you think many in the pews knows what JEPD or neo-orthodox means? I think there is a huge gap in what the avrage church member believes is being taught in seminaries compaired to what is actually being taught. At least that is what I experienced any way. My dictionary reads the same as yours, but sometimes mine spells kinda funny. justme |

Hank: Your Biblical and historic knowledge is amazing to me. I encountered the the third Isaiah theory as well. Most people have rarely heard of that, I now feel like someone besides me is alert to this nonsense. I often wonder if preachers are coming out believing this neo-orthodoxy higher criticism, what message are they preaching? Where is our hope? I believe with all my heart you are just where God uses you best. I do appreciate your wisdom and ability to directly hit the nail on the head, with the hammer in one blow. That is spiritually speaking. By the way the check I sent you for my "seed faith gift" was sent on the Central Bank of Iraq. Which no longer is in the check cashing business. So I guess that seed went to dust. So when do I get the return on my "seed faith" effort?Blessings to you. justme |

Just Read Mark: I read your profile, and personally I believe art is in the nature of God, We can not look at the many things around us and not see beauty is in everything God has created. The deeper you look into anything you see how much more beauty is in the complexity od how things are formed. I enjoy looking ar painting, and a wide forms of art. Take a close look at what art is made from, wood, clay, sand, glass, many pigments that form a color that painters use. I genuinely am not artistic, but I do appreciate art. Art covers so many things in one little three letter word. In art there is all the human emotions that anyone can think of. You have very special gifts, and I encourage you to not think this Forun is not one to exclude art. The fact is the subject has not been explored, but it may be there are those who would be pleased to dialogue with you about art. I would. Even the command of the English language is an art, which I don't have either. Any thoughts? justme |

BradK; Your final response was kind. I believe I have read it all now. Perhaps reminding her that God says in Scripture, we are allowed the killing of animals for food, and is within His will. There are even some placed in Asia that eat all kinds of creatures, some just down right nasty. justme |

545 | Eve was GOD's gift to Adam. Meaning? | Gen 2:7 | justme | 59979
Hank: Perhaps the fact that Adam was found lackink, and no mate was suitable for him, might be seen bysome as that Eve became a gift to him? There is a lot of extra biblical thought behind this, but as married men this is a way of thanking the Lord for such a blessing as our wives are. We will have been married 33 years tommorow! That is a gift from God for sure. agape, justme |

548 | Why did God allow Polygamy? | Gen 2:21 | justme | 236016
Fmp: I read your profile, with a unexpected great list of your Doctrine. That is not usual for being on the SBF less than one month, thank you. Congratulations on being a great grandpa. That's something that aging allows us to see how our family tree grows. I am sure you have thought about this and have an answer, but just for the sake of my knowing how your Doctrin handles a specific issue. No arguement is intended this is just for me to think about. You say Baptism is required for the remission of sins. Unless I don't understand you correctly, Baptism is required to be "saved". Have I got that right? Would there be exceptions to this requriement? For example, a person dying of cancer in a hospital. A pastor visits the person and they talk several different times. After some deep talks about Jesus Christ and her need for Jesus Christ, she repents prays and surrenders to Christ Jesus. Due to her very serious condition, near death, she wants to be baptized. There is no way to baptize her. was she saved? Just to give you the "rest of the story". I told her I would do a symbolic baptism and sprinkled her. She was so instant on wanting to be baptized, and there was no way to take her anywhere, so I sprinkled her. Being a Baptist this is not accepted, so I did what I could. Then the final question there are those like the thief on the cross, that because of their last few moments surrendering to Christ, no time was there to baptized the person. Such places like war, accidents that take a person to the ER and there is no hope and confession is almost the very last thing they do. How does all this fit into your doctrine. Be assured no matter if I do not agree I will respect your doctrine and treat you like the Brother in Christ that you are. justme |

549 | Why did God allow Polygamy? | Gen 2:21 | justme | 236022
fpm: Thanks for your kind response. I know our Doctrine is not what we have made up ourself. Yes I believe I have that down pat. I respect your position on baptism, and debating is not braking any thing I am aware of, especially if genuine christian brotherly or sisterely love, kindness, and respect are used in the debate. But honestly not all Baptist are of a Faith only Doctrine, as I am concerned. So I think my intention is not to disfellowship or belittle someone when we don't agree, in that case I believe Jesus said all there cam be said with wisdom we need to keep in the front of our soul. John 14:35 "By this all men will know you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." NASB In all honesty when a so self poclaimed "christian" refuses to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in baptism there is a serious error. When we surrender to Jesus Christ and call of the Holy Spirit, there are expectations. No one can follow unless they stay in line and FOLLOW. In this case with baptism as Jesus Christ clearly demonstrated for us as an example to FOLLOW HIM. When someone refuses to be baptized that's not following in any way shape or form. I fully believe immersion to be the Biblical way to baptize. I say this even having sprinkled a woman dying of cancer who was unable to move for death was quite near. I have mixed feelings in explaining this, and I have to leave this in the hands of the Lord. When I hear an alter call with the preacher asking those who raised their hand to just repeat after them the sinners prayer, I am very concerned that this is a false way to allow people to think that's all there is to "getting saved". As you say in your doctrine statement, repentance is a requirement not an option. yet seldome do I hear that mentioned in alter calls. Most assuredly without confession, that is denial. Baptism can be one way of confession. Obedience is one area that is not just for the time we surrender to Christ. For me it is being constantly aware that obedience is sometimes satans trap when we deal with situations where emotions can be high and trying to help is not the way the Lord wants me to be. Endurance is sometimes a way of saying that genuinely saved persons could loose their security of the holding power of Christ. John 10:27-29. I have read "that faith that falters, had a flaw from the first". For me I would say the key word is "genuine". I do not believe a "genuine authentic" "born again" "saved" person can or will fall from grace. I do believe it is possible for a believer to "backslide". In the Old Testament such an example would be King David. There are several things about David and his realationship with YAHWEH I do not understand. If God could say David was a man after Gods heart, I struggle to fully grasp such forgiveness and loving kindness that God has. I think there is plenty of room to dialogue, disagree, and learn from one another in the Study Bible Foum. Blessings. justme |

550 | Why did God allow Polygamy? | Gen 2:21 | justme | 236036
Fmp: Glad you took the time to respond. As I write this we have snow falling with thunder and lightening. We love this show it;s so awesome and powerful. We need the rain and snow so badly. So many crops were lost last year. God has blessed us, thank the Lord. The lady with cancer is or was in the hands of the Lord. I did my part as instructed in Scripture. However, if there was no hope of heaven for her, unless she was immersed in baptism, should I have said that there was no hope at all for her? Mark 10:26-27 "They were even more astonished and said to Him "Then who can be saved?". 27. "Looking at them Jesus said, "With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God." NASB No one an be saved on their own efforts, only by the Grace of God cab anyone be saved. As I understand Scripture that even our faith needed to respond and submit to the Holy Spirit's plea for us to surrender and become a follower of Jesus Christ is all a gift of the Holy Father. I would say if a person does not "follow" Jesus and His commands then that person is not a christian. For instance, if a person says they are a christian, but hates church, then not only is he not following Jesus, he contradicts Scripture. Hebrews 10:25 In sich a case I would think this person had a false faith. Falling form Grace and loosing one's salvation id where we see things differently. I am a Once saved, a born again, geuine christian is secure in in the salvation of Jesus Christ saving ability and guarantee that we are His. John 10:28-29. Just as you are able to use Scripture to show how you arrive at a person Lost position in Christ, and there is merit with that. I also can show from Scripture once genuinely saved you are secure. So because we both are christians there is no reason to disfellowship one another. There are some area's that Ther is no room to compomise. Praying to any other than person than the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit in not Christian. Praying to a Saint or the mother of Jesus is unscriptural. This is an area I can not agree to disagree. How are we tracking up to this point? Blessings justme |

551 | Why did Eve orginally leave the garden? | Gen 3:1 | justme | 99594
Tomsweetstir: You have stirred some interest in this in me. I went to the Interlinear Bible Hebrew,English Vol 1 by Hendrickson, and read the area you refer to several times and looked at root words. Then I went to my trusted THE EXPOSITTOR'S BIBLE COMMENTARY, by Zondervan, and I could find nothing to even remotely suggest that the temptation took any other place but the "field in the Garden of Eden". perhaps some proof texting is needed to come to your conclusion? As Moses most likely wrote this book of Genesis, some of which Moses wrote is being presented from a third person writting from Yahweh's direction who was there to know fro sure what happened. At least that's how I believe anyway. How Eve received the information is not as important to me, as the fact that she did know to avoid the tree of good and knowledge. Interseting to me is both Adam and Eve knew Good from the begining. What they became aware was the evil, not what was good or better for them, or for us. I wonder if the eating of the fruit was literal eating or to partake of knowing what the tree was all about? I encourage you to keeo thinking aand looking at scripture whit some language tools. Do you have any such tools to use? You have an eager mind and that is refreshing to me. What do you think abiut what I have said? Blessings to you Tom. justme. |

552 | A life-long lesson from my mother | Gen 3:4 | justme | 73029
Hank: Those who lived before Television, and very ealy radio, have a special wisdom. I would say those who went through the depression years, know more what being dependant on the Lord, and "knowing Him". Many are those who can remember those who were out to "help" only to find they were tricked by the greed that satan is so good at inticing mankind with. This present time is full of people who felt so secure in their retirement nest eggs, who now have little or nothing. Everytine I have done a funeral or hear of someone in grief we can thank the Evil One! Your mother was wise and I would bet she spent more time in one day in the Word, then most do today in a month. Wisdonm is life, understanding, and keeps us on the path of of pleasing the Lord. justme |

553 | Mary's egg used in conception of Jesus? | Gen 3:15 | justme | 71919
Emmaus: Thank you for you thoughts. I would agree. For Christ to be fully man (flesh) and fully devine, I would think that Marys egg would have to have been used in the conception of our Lord Jesus Christ. Most assuredly Jesus Christ was connected to Marys womb by a umbilical cord, which as we know is a direct connection for growth to take place. To think of all the women in the world, past and present, God in His devine wisdom choose Mary and Joseph to raise His Only Divine Son, is mind streching, beyond my ability. I am sure Mary did ponder many things about all these questions and more, as the Scripture says. Much about Christianity as we consider such wonderful things, only bring us to a deeper understanding of how Great a love God has for us. justme |

555 | Cain feared who would kill him? | Gen 4:13 | justme | 242606
Doc. very good. It stans to reason that we have no clear understanding of the time frame in years, that all this took place. These type of issues that lie behind the clear out front details that I think for a better term are "digging for gold nuggets". This really makes "Reading the Bible for all it's worth" as the Bible Answer man says. Thanks for making this a very interesting dialogue. justme |
