361 | Not praying for one's self? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 71734
David 24597: Thank you for responding back. Your idea is well thought out. Why did Jesus pray for Himself, remember He was perfect, and our example. The example prayer Jesus prayed used word directly relating to self. How do you deal with confession of sin If we don't pray for ourselves? Do you ever say "use me Lord"? I am unable to find one verse suggesting praying for ones self is not something we need to do. If I never communicated my wants and desires to my wife she would feel very left out. How do you seek God's direction or His will. I am interested in your thoughts and respect you views, I am not attempting to be arguementative. I think it is good to dialogue. justme |

362 | Not praying for one's self? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 71741
David 24597: David, I would say it is more like Lord protect my wife as she teaches today. Let her be your witness in a class that kids are in need of you. For me I might pray Lord you know I want to be in the direct will you have for me. I ask to live a life that is pleasing to him. I often pray for strength as my health is poor. If I live let me live for in love the expresses my faith. Yes, when our automobile was no longer adaquite to do the job, we prayed for wisdom in getting a truck that showed good stewardship. I believe that was done. I pray for my adult children and my grandchildren, and my family, pastor missionaries, and many other areas. You are right the Spirit a person prayes in matters.I first of all I confess my sins. Then not in actual order but I praise Him, bring those who need intersory prayer, I bring my needs before Him, often there are people I promised to pray for, and even those in the Forum that have expressed needed prayer. The list is quite long. I am a little confused as to why you feel its selfish to pray for your family? What scripture would you use to back your understanding of this. Like I said I do not mind dialogue, but please this is only an exchange of ideas or beliefs, not an effort to belittle anyone. Peace. justme |

363 | TATTOOS....yea or nay?? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 73983
Hank: Thank you for one of the best presented notes on Tattoos I have evere read. I kwow a dear man, my spiritual father, who is now 82. He was a pastor for more than 40 years. However, while unsaved in the US Navy durring World War Two he got a tattoo of a unclothed woman on his arm. When he became a Christian he was un able to find a Doctor back then to remove it, as he was quite ashamed of it. So he took a electric grinder to his arm! The scar still left some "parts" showing he felt should be kept hidden. Until 1985 he wore longsleve shirts. He had three daughters and they never saw his arm until 1985 when he had more cosmetic surgery done. His arm looks like he was badly burned. Today he wares short sleves, and the shame is gone, but the scars remain. One stupid act done in a drunken moment can bare a life time of pain. I can't help but think sin is much like a tattoo in that even though Christ may forgive our sin, the consequences may well last the rest of our life. That is an awsome thought, that we need to keep in our hearts. Blessings to you. justme |

364 | Is the first resurrection, the rapture? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 75145
sisterkath: What version of the Bible do you use? Inoticed you used NWT for scripture when used. Thanks for your response. justme |

365 | Pre Tribulation rapture? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 75343
CDBJ:Justme here, did you intend for searcher to receive this? I was the one with the question and your response is good, thank you. I would think for those who hold to the "left behind" book club might be quite misled into thinking that there just might be some other way to see Scripture. Infact other theories don't sell many books I would imagine. If God did not spare His Son the ultimate suffering of the sins of all mankind who would recieve Him, that who are we to think we would not share in Christ's suffering as well? C. I. Scofield had several problems that today we see were unothordox. However C.I. Scofield Bibles are sold in updated versions of several kinds. What a person believes about the tribulation or rapture is no reason to not fellowship with each other, it only serves to have a direction as to what we believe and be able to dialogue about it. Thank you for your response. justme |

370 | Does God hear the prayers of nonbeliever | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 77560
kids2: Welcome to the Forum! God is all knowing. God knows everything about everone. Psalm 139. This psalm tells us that there is NOTHING hidden from Him, not even our unformed body in the womb. Does God here us? Can we keep anything hide from Him? We have free will do do as we so choose, but we are held accountable for our choices good or bad. Those who pray to non-existant false gods are herd to thier judgement for rejecting Jesus Christ. God even knows our thoughts be fore we have spoken a word. Please read Psalm 139 I know it will help you. What do you think now? Blessings. justme |

Truthfinder: I read your profile and I was somewhat amazed. You say the New World Translation is a forvite Bible? Does that mean you are a JW? I am confused as if it is as your name says then why would use the New World Translation? I would like to DIALOGUE not argue. I believe only with respect and kindness can dialogue take place and I will honor that. Thank you for responding. justme |

Truthfinder: Thank you for your reply. I have been told I am as old as dirt, so perhaps we have we have yaken age too seriously. I respect your convictions, and will not try to change your theological beliefs. Would you mind me asking you some dialogue questions, with kindness and respect being the basis for such dialogue? Your thoughts about this? justme |

374 | Was the wine Jesus drank fermented? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 80428
Truthfinder: I am sure you have heard that many believe the JWs greek text is flawed, and has changes John chapter 1. In your study have you been able to work that through to some solid understanding as to why there appears to be a difference in what some believe in opposition to the JW text? Again I want to express I mean no disrespect ou rudenes, only asking your opinion. I hope to hear from you again. justme |

375 | Was the wine Jesus drank fermented? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 80488
Truthfinder: You bring some points of interest to our dialogue. Please do not be afraid of being "strong" in you language. I found what you had to say is well presented and you have a defence of what you believe. Do you believe Jesus was a son of Jehovah, or the one and Only Son of Jehovah? That is what I have been instructed is the problem of the New World Translation. I would prefer that the NASB and others use Yahweh for The Lord God Almighty, but that's my personal view. Our dialogue is important for me as few with your knowledge are willing to explain these questions without feeling there is a personal attack on then. Again what ever I say or respond will come with respect and kindness and openess. Should you feel anytime that I have said something that is offensive, please feel free to say so. justme |

Truthfinder: I find it also refreshing that you respond in a kind way that dialogue is easy and there is no undermining with tenseness or desire to demand either of us to change. I womder how you think on the vergin birth of Christ. In your opinion was Jesus Christ fully devine and fully human? I have been suprised at your answers, so with respectfull dialogue, I ask because you do not meet my expected answers as I thought you would. In the NWT what would you consider as an example of a flaw. I appreciate your answers, have a good day. justme |

377 | Was the wine Jesus drank fermented? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 80938
Truthfinder: It is a good thing that you have not given the expected answers. I an pleasently pleased. You are not of typical how any JW's answers. I think, I understood you to say you were a JW. AmI correct on that? I have read nothing to relate to any dialogue I have had in the past with any JW. I say this with caution as I do not mean any disrespect, and yet want to understand more of where your beliefs are and come from. You seem to me to be on a firm foundation. I am taking some mential notes to ask you for clarification on a bit later. No I have not done any study in "stauros". That's always hard to admit when we don't know something. I am sure I should have, this is the first time I have had a reason to. So I will look into it, and Then I can be up to speed as a trutle. Rarely do I come to find a person who is able to explain their doctrine beyond the very basic principles of faith. This is very interesting and I enjoy your input. Thank you. justme |

morant61: Thanks Tim! That's how I recalled it but I don't turst just a twinkle of menory. Were they not much later than the TR? I seem to recall that the dates of these men were a problem for those who feel the NIV and NASB are unclean. I have learned to be calm when bringing up this subject, show kindness and respect, while bitting my lip and turning blue. My personal preference is the Updated NASB followed by the NIV. Thanks for making it simple for me, I need that, as I am...... justme |

flinkywood: I appreciate your imput. I am keenly aware of the NWT. I am dialoguing with truthfinder, in a mutually kind and respectfull, point by point of doctrinal issues. I have found this open dialogue to be refreshing, and neither of us expects anything. We are simply exchanging the views of our different beliefs. Neither of us are in this dialogue to demean one another. This is a rare dialogue, where exchange of thelogy has occured without anger or dogmatic interference has desolved the relationship. I sincerely respect this priveledge, I hope others do as well. Blessings. justme |
