1207 | John 3:1-7 how can you say it's not true | 1 Cor 1:17 | justme | 111339
compudex: You offer simple advice, and on the surface you are right. If only there were a tollerance for one another. The problem is that there are some immature selfish people who insist they are right. Unless it's their way of understanding then you belief about baptism is wrong and you are not really saved. That dogmatic misunderstanding of Scripture is NOT in keeping with BASIC Christianity 101. There are some issues that there is no way to even suggest a different view of Scripture ie. Virgin birth of Jesus, His divinity, and His life ater death, just to name a few. When you ask us to just all get along, in some cases the people join the Forum just to stirr up the dung in their hearts. From the heart the mouth speaks. There is no reason to be rude, disrespectful, or belittling anyone. I personally attempt to abide by Lockmans wishes or I will leave respectfully. There is a young female who is pushing demominational bias that should be asked to leave. Perhaps soon the right people will notice. Blessings. justme |

1209 | Homosexuality, sin or not? | 1 Cor 6:9 | justme | 132719
james210: I question that you may have taken Jesus words and gone to far with the application. I believe Jesus was bringing to our attention to gaurd our thoughts as that's where sin begins. Surely to think about murdering someone is a sin, but to actually kill someone is even much worse. So I would say that Jesus was not saying thinking about lusting after a woman is not the saome level of sin as actually having a sexual relationship. This can be used by some to say if I am quilty if I even think of such a sin, I might as well induldge in it and enjoy the sin, if the two are the same. What are your thoughts? Blessings. justme |

1210 | is a christian allowed to drink | 1 Cor 6:10 | justme | 213586
Beja: I see in your profile you and Hank live in what I call "South Missouri". My wife and I live in the Garden of Eden, better known as Missouri. I am glad you responded to my note. Let me say I was not speaking as to what position the church should have in requirements for membership. However in the "Bible Belt" it common for Baptist churches to have a statement, saying what is required for membership. Often the consumption or selling of alcohol is forbidden. A Southern Baptist Chruch about 2 miles from where we live has this requirement for membership. This is listed on a plywood board about 3'feet by 5 feet. This board has a list of several things that members must abide by. As we know there are those who will agree to sign such a statement, and then work in a store that selld beer or wine. There are those who see no wrong having a drink, and will sign the statement but have no intentions to stop having a drink Personally I saw the list while visiting one time, and we never returned, mainly because of the list of do's and don'ts. I believe the Holy Spirit will convict us as we grow and such a list does not allow for the different stages of growth people are in while maturing in Christ. I do think there are a few things membership needs to address, such would be a born again experience with Jesus Christ and baptism by emersion. Beyond this that is up to the church to decide. The more "requirements" we have the less fish we catch for the Master. I do believe for the position of Pastor, Elder, Deacon and Trustee and Teachers there should be Biblical requirements. Again these requirements are up to the denomination or local church to decide. I am not so sure the position of a person taking a drink is so much a luxury as it is allowing the Holy Spirit to move and become active in each persons life. I will keep my own thoughts of drinking alcohol to myself, so I do not cause offense for the brother how finds it's ok for him to have a drink, or for the brother who believes it's a sin to take a drink. years ago the list of do's and don'ts included playing cards, smoking, gambling, dancing, using makeup, listening to rock music, going to the movies, cussing, and not being there at the church when the door were open. Frankly these lists did not really work then and they most likely would not do much for church growth now. When we take over the work of the Holy Spirit we make a real mess. I hope this helps make my note a little clearer. Blessings. justme |

1211 | Is tattoos acceptabe as christians | 1 Cor 6:19 | justme | 215358
Azure: This "story" is a made up one. The very same story was in a book on situation ethics. There is no excuse EVER for prostituting, NONE. Either the Lord can feed us or the Lord wants us home. In James it says we are drawn into sin, not by God but by our own selfish desires. Remember many Christians in the past chose death over their worship of a government head. Did not Daniel trust God over bowing down? Situation ethics is really tricky, a tool satan has used from the time of Adam and Eve. justme |

1212 | Chosen one | 1 Cor 6:19 | justme | 215359
lionheart: I have a bridge in my mouth. When the dentist ask me if I would like a design on the bridge, I was really schocked. I had no idea he could do that. I asked can you put my last name on it. My last name has six letters. He did put on the bridge my last name. I was going to Bolivia for the second time. I have also been in Mexico way out in the mountians away from much civilazation about five times or so. If someone dies and the body is shipped back to the US at that time Bolivia cremated the body and shipped the ashes. There is no doubt that I am who I say I am by the bridge in my mouth. The bridge can only be seen when I pull back my cheek and show the six letters. I don't call ths a tattoo by any means. Perhaps other might want to think about this as well. justme |

1213 | Obesity? | 1 Cor 6:19 | justme | 228326
Biblicalman: I think this type of judgement leads to legalism. How many square feet of house is geting greedy? Is 1200 sq ft to large for two people? How many pair of shoes should one person have, and not be considered greedy? Should a person trade in their vehicle every two or three years, or drive it beyone 200,000 miles? Is eating out at Wendy's better than eating at a fancy stake house with special guests? What should a Pastor get paid, at the low wage or the avrage church members wage, or higher than the higest? How many Scripture verses can I read and still feel it's enough? Most people in the world don't have a car, two pair of shoes, a house with a tolet, money in their pocket, food that will last beyond the next day, and a Bible of their own. When we make judgements that cast a doubt on a fellow brother or sister that we are stepping in where the Holy Spirit works. Let's work at encouraging each other to grow in the Lord and let the Lord work on areas that are sensitive and may cause a person to become so hurt, and they drop out. I am not talking about sin that needs to be confronted. Often those who have overcome a problem want others who have the same problem to overcome the problem as they did. Shame is used to show off how great a victory they have won. Smoking, weight loss seem to be the ones that are the sins we notice first. Maybe removing the log in our eye first is best followed first. Blessings. justme |

Biblicalman: I have reread my two posts. I made too much about the feelings of some hurting believers I am dealing with now. You are certainly correct in what you have said. I have seem one person who overcame smoking and being overweight. Now that person sees no reason for anyone to be obese or for anyone to smoke. This person now has become so obnoxious. The true test is that of how long a person can stay an overcomer. I sincerely see I was a real pain, and I regret being so harsh. Please accept my sincere apology. Blessings |

1215 | is it a sin to have sex on your period | 1 Cor 7:3 | justme | 224017
BradK: I see no lady in the Forum got involved with this question, only men. Why do men think we have the answers on this? May I suggest there are subjects such as this, that is better answered by at least one of the married women on the Forum. Perhaps I am rather out of touch with having such questions answered by men. 1216 | is it a sin to have sex on your period | 1 Cor 7:3 | justme | 224049
BradK: I appreciate you kind response, and as you and I have seen over the years on this forum there are some who just ask questions just to see how far it goes. There have been 12 notes in resonse to this question. In contrast, at times a good Bible question has only one or two answers. However, most questions related to sex have too many notes, especially in a subject like this one. I asked my wife what she thought of this question. Her thought was there needed to be a Forum for women somewhat like this one. Her feeelings were that this could have been a young girl who could be just seeing how the forum would react. Better yet suggest this girl or woman talk to a Christian leader in her church. Mrs. Justme and me think this question was in very poor taste and even though it was responded to from the Bible, this question was made much to big for 12 responses. We on this question, brother Brad K can disagree in Christian Love and respect. Blessings. justme |

1218 | divorce is not always a sin. | 1 Cor 7:15 | justme | 83108
hobbzilla: I understand your point. I am not arguing the offended person can't divorce, as that is an excape clause that is Biblical. I wonder is someone is just seeking a justifiable reason to find someone else who will love them better?. I find NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE it says you HAVE to divorce. Again, the reason for the divorce is some can't forgive unfaithfullness. Clearly the issue of not being able to trust and the shame of broken vows, are painful and affect the very heart of every ones soul. However, when the offended party divorces, rather than taking the example of Hosea, who is the picture of Christ redeeming us, we rush to a lawyer! Should we not look at the examples of Hosea and Jesus? There are no innocent people in a marriage, affairs are the tip of the iceburg in a marriage. There is some fault (sin) on both of the marriage partners. In counseling a good number of couples, have never come across simular situations, that there was not blame on both partners. No one is without some blame in a divorce. The problem is when we say in our vows before God and others "for better or worse, in sickness and health, till death us do part" is not taken literally! That is what was vowed to each other and God! Covemant marriage is sipmply not understood today! We do not honnor our vows, why? Matthew 18:21-35 is a perfect illustration of perfect forgiveness. The crust of it is we are not able to forgive, and divorce is allowed because of hardness of heart! I believe heardness of the heart is at the root of most marriages being terminated? The question is will God gorgive us for divorcing our mate? Reguardless of the reason? Lets go astep further and say a mate leaves for some one else. Then they marry. Somewhere the come to the point they face the sin they have done, what are they todo? The Bible says you can't go back to your previous partner. So now what? May I suggest that King David is a excellent example. Acknowledge the sin, confess it, seek forgivness, and reconcile with the Lord Jesus who said "sin no more". It is a serious problem how Clergy today are marring anyone, no matter what the sin is. The answer lies that if Clergy worked as hard for restoration of marriages broken appart, as they do in preparing for the wedding, perhaps there would be a change. I have seem many churches with divorce classes, and single parents, but I have NEVER seen a class for restoration of broken marriages! Why not? The Church (world wide Christian believers) are so willing to be tollerant, and afraid to say to a couple that divorce for Christians should not be an option! Anyone who thinks marriage does not require lots of forgivness and work to keep it alive, is doomed for failure. I have before God and my wife and family, I've been far less that I should have been. In a few months we will celebrate 34 years of marriage. Have I ever made some bad choices (sins)? Yes I have, and the older I get, I am blessed to have the wife I have. The same is true for my relationship with Jesus Christ. I would think Jesus would get so sick of me confessing and seeking forgiveness that He should have given up on me long ago! The sin of adultery is just a cause and effect of deeper problems! There is no such thing as one sided blame. Sure the person in adultery is wrong, but if things were right in the marriage then open arms might not have been so tempting. No one is without sin, and to think there is an innocent partner is nieve, and denial of both partners failure no matter how small. Problems and hurts do follow from one marriage into the next! The chances for a second marriage making it are very poor at best! Better to work through problems, unless there is no hope, and who knows that except the Lord? Only when some one remarries is hope dead. I ask, is someone looking for a "Biblical out"? I may seem harsh, and I have seen enough broken homes to tear the heart out of children, Grandparents, and the people involved with marriage which broke up. I have grieved as friends, and church members parted. I have said if I feel this hurt how does God feel? Think on what I've said and give me your thoughts. justme |

1219 | divorce is not always a sin. | 1 Cor 7:15 | justme | 83115
hobbzilla: You have some very good points, and I find it refreshing the way you make your dialogue point by point, in logical sequence. I attempt to state things as they should be in a strick Biblical fundimentalistic mannor. However in the reality of the situation ethical mode we as Christians tend to react to most situations, I find that often fundimential Biblical truths are ignored. I noticed we both have used the example of the wife being unfaithful, which is far less often the case. Our Christian lifestyle in todays world is barely different from the world in general. The facts are today we have stepfathers sexually abusing their step daughters, and all kinds of males and females involved in other devient acts. On occasion we hear of those in ministry whose conduct is repugnant, a shame to the name of Christ and His Church. I will state my personal views, and say my understanding for Biblical divorce externds beyond sexual infidelity. Unfaithness encompasses far more than just a sexual act. In our world there grounds for divorce for addictions that are beyond listing, neglect, gambeling, non support, and again the list is too long. Perhaps what I am attempting to say is "hardness of heart" is wide in scope in todays world. Some as according to Romans 1. have taken the path that leads to distruction. The question is how does a husband or wife know when "God has handed them over..."? There are those who have choosen a path that has no turning around. I do believe faith that falters, had a flaw from the first. I do believe in eternal security, but sometimes the call is only known by Jesus Himself. I hope, I am not sounding wishy washy, but divorce, adultery, and all sins are forgiven exactly the same way, are they not? I do have deep compassion for sinners, whom I stand in line by my own conviction of the Holy Spirit. By the Grace of God I am a saved sinner. Blessings. justme |

1220 | The letter kills the Spirit brings life | 1 Cor 7:15 | justme | 88722
answers: Kyle, often you may find that there are wounded healers, that are able to reach out and lift us up. By wounded healers I mean those who were once wounded and shackled by the chains of sin, when Jesus broke the chains and set the wounder sinners free so they could be a representative healing to others, as Jesus Christs ambasadors. For those whom have been forgiven of much, often are more open to share and uplift those who are deep in sin and wounded, needing the Lords touch. If ther is anything that helps you, then it is the Lord alone who has reached out to you, not me. Never underestimate what the Holy Spirit can do for a receptive believer, I think you are such a believer. Because there are no Lone Ranger Christians, I can bet that someone somewhere has planted the seed of Jesus in you heart before. We may someday see how our sowing and reaping for the Master has turned out, but for now we trust that the lord uses us as we are able. To add one thing, never take a human beings word as tthe Word of the Lord, for only the Bible is the Word of God. If anyone says anything that does not take you to the Word of God ignor what they say. May I do just what I just said. Start with the Gospel of John and read it, try to pick out the gems that are there to speak to you. Study these verses, and read John again, pick out the gems once again. If you do this several times you will find new gems of the Word everytime! I am glad the Lord has set you and your wife free, now grow, go share with others you see in need of the healing touch of Jesus through you. Blessings, and always glad to respond to you Kyle.
