781 | why do we baptize differently? | Eph 2:9 | justme | 101002 | ||
Compudex: Welcome to the Bible Study Forum. Just a note to say that there was baptism in the Old Testament period. When someone converted to Judiasm the were baptized. So baptism is baptism, not circumcision. I believe the men were also required to be circumcised too. I do believe if the latter were required today to become a Christian, perhaps accepting Christ might be a very serious choice to carefully consider, before walking the down to give your heart to Jesus. The group, or groups, who baptise in Jesus name only, would say right up fromt that if you have not been baptized in Jesus name ONLY that you are not saved. This is a very serious flaw, and goes against Matthew 29:19 which specficly says to baptize in the name of the Father, the SON, and the Holy Spirit. I would think perhaps you might not of known about the Name of Jesus Only group. They are very much a denomonation but I wish not to mention denomonations by name as this is what I understand Lockmans wishes. I hope this helps you some. Any responce? Blessings. I add one thing more. I think that when a believe delays being baptized for a good lenght of time, there is a serious question if this person has a said faith or saving faith. Jesus over and over says if we truly love Him we will obey His commands. Did Jesus not say the be Baptized? I think that says it pretty clearly. Not much of a loop hole there. ustme. |

GeorgeJoy:-) I can fully understand how easy it is to get so excited about getting the point accross, we fail to see that we don't have to yell at the audiance. The harsh reality comes when we see we are preaching to only one there who happens to be 1 foot away. I found this some place, I don't recall where; Truth without love: Love without truth. Both are neither. The more we study this saying the deeper it hits home. You have a sensitive heart, continue to nurture it, and you will find offensive words become tender words from the heart. Good hearing from you. Blessings. justme |

Colin: I attempt to try to deal with Greek and some Hebrew with the aid of language helps. Both languages take much time and patients in looking up and following up to the root words. I think every Christian should have a good set of language reference books. I prefer not to take the word of others, I generally look up words I have some questions about. Personally I take very seriously the priesthood of the belieever and never take this privledge for granted. Do you do word study Colin? If so how do you go about this? Blessings. justme |

flinkywood: When ever I have had a questions, I make my request over the phone, and get the nname of the person that took my question. I ask about how long before I might hear back from them. If within the week after I was told I should get an answer, I would for sure call back the same person. I have never had to call back to request an unanswered question be re directed a second time. All the answers I ahve received have been in great detail and went beyond what I expected. So I might consider re-submiting the question, maybe it got mislaied somehow. In all fairness to the NIV when the revised text came out in 1983, I asked what changes Zondervan had made. Zondervan sent me over two inches of typed papers double spaced, with every little change they had made. That was clearly more than I wanted, but it was very comprehensive to say the least! What I mean to say is becareful what you ask for it maybe more that you expect. I would call this time, I am sure you will be pleased. Blessings. justme |

Hank:-( Ug! Well not about your good health, that's really good to hear! You sound tired and discouraged and your burden sounds heavy, brother. Moses was attempting to do so much he almost blew it. Moses was told from an unlikkely person to share the burdens or he would be crushed under it all. I am not sure self evaluation was quite what would have helped Moses find a solution to his being spred so thin. I honestly don't know why I came up with the thoughts about Moses. However the Forum is a lot like the people Moses was trying to push. What seems rather silly is Moses was not given the position of pusher. Moses was God's chosen to be the leader. I find it's a lot easier on the back to just walk and let others follow than push a wagon full of Missouri potatoes (rocks) up a Missouri hill. I am reminded that when the load is more than we can carry, perhaps it's because we are not yoked with someone to help carry the burden. Hank, I know you are a kind, warm, caring, Christian gentleman. You have the qualities that few Christian men have, and it did not come without devotion to the Lord Jesus, and a deep abiding faith. True faith is hard work! Walking by faith is not achieved overnight, it takes a lifetime to develope ones walk. I know you already are keenly aware of this. You and I in our faith developement need to keep bringing others to maturity in Christ, so they can replace us as we eventually will go home. Perhaps, and I sure don't pretend to know, you need to ask the Holy Father if you should be training someone to share the joy of the Forum with you. I do not expect anything near even close to perfection in you or anyone else. I can say fro certian that there will always be animosity, bickering, backbighting, bitterness, anger, fighting, and unChrist like behavior by Christians until, and only when, Christ comes will it then stop. I am not responsible for anyone else but me on the Fourm. Brother Hank I know you have a lot of you invested in the Forum, I know how deeply you care for those who are in it as well. But dear brother, the Forum is the Lords, and we just serve each other in it. Thhis forum will pass you are very right. But, don't for one second forget we are the Lords and Galations 5:6 "...the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." What ever else we may say or do, only whats done for others through us because we are allowing Christ to show love through us is worth anything at all. Everything else is wasted and gone forever. Only one life will be soon be past; only what's done for Christ will last. This is not my orignal saying, I don't know where it comes from. Brother in Christ, Hank I encourage to look up for the Lord is near, He will not allow you to carry more than you are able, not one inch more! I believe that with all my heart. I ask you to overlook my poor spelling and English grammer, I continue to make more of an effort to improve. God Bless you Hank. Justme, Mike, your brother in Christ always! |

Hank:-)Hank, greetings from the state the LDS church says has the true Garden of Eden, here in Missouri! The Lord is good. I am reminded that I believe in Romans, perhaps? Paul cautions us to be careful about what we approve of. That's my paraphrase. I think some would do well to rethink eendorsements. I believe You and some others also previewed the TNIV. I consider it close to the NRSV and other non-inclusive versions, or should I say non offensive to those in sin. I am very saddned by those who loaned theeir good name to such a poor mistranslation. My health is improving. I feel stronger each week, there are some side effects that are creeping up here and there. However over all I think the lord has extraordinarly blessed me beyond what I could ask for. I did not come with a 100,000 mile or 7 year warranty like my Dodge Dokata. Thanks for the response, and your kind thoughts and prayers. Blessings to you brother Hank. How are you doing by the way? justme |

Reformer Joe: I have read you and BradK's dialogue. I would like to tell you how this comes accross to me. I say this in kindness and with respect to both of you. The spirit of the rules are to keep tensions down so this is a desirable Forum to contribute in. The letter of the rules and inforcing every dot and stroke will only add to the argument you are having, which is not the intention of the rules. This is a Bible Study Forum aand is able to be read by the public, saved and unsaved alike. Is this what you want others to read? Is this an example of how Christians love one another? Think about it, who is getting the glory by whats being said. I am by no means attempting to say I am not as much at fault as anyone else, but please brothers take a brake and spend a time remembering who it is we are to be an example of. Are we reflecting Jesus to others now? I don't think so. Think about this. I will be here to get a response is you so chose. Blessings and I say this in deep christian love. justme |

BradK:-) Oh that we could open the eyes of those held captive by these cults of satan. My heart goes out to those who are so intangled in the works they feel they must do to gain acceptence by God. Grace is not cheap or costless, but, Jesus has made it free to anyone who will come unto Him. Can we really understand how much the Lord Almighty loves us? I doubt we can barley imigine, but only a small amount of the Love of God has for us who have turned to Jesus Christ as our lord. justme |

John Reformed: John, James White was and is so far and above me in his understanding of cults, Greek and ability to teach and write. I find it hard to believe how one person can absorb so much and still have a clear focus. James was 200 percent in all he did at Grand Canyon University. James White is a shining example for Christ and the University. I am but a soft puff of wind in contrast to this huge cyclone of a man. But, Jesus is far above trillions of us all. Blessings. justme |

John Reformed:-) This was the proper time and place to address your concerns to Hank, or who ever. I think it is noteworthy to welcome a new visitor to the Bible Study Forum. I am sure this gets unintentionaly over looke by us all, at some time. I agree with your note to Hank. I also understand how out of control some of these topics have gotten. I do not understand what tulip means, or really want to. I think this serves as an example that we can over react rather easly. I wonder how heaven will deal with all these issues? I am sure that we must go through a real drastic change of thinking and thought patterns, and a desire to become in Unity with Jesus. Blessings John. justme |

John Refromed: Brother in Christ, John. I think you have shown a good example of how we are to be responsible in dealing with these restricted, forbidden, topics. Calvary Chapel has a statement that states how they deal with both sides of this coin. Both sides have exclusive points. I try to avoid being either, but rather desplay God's love toward all people who know Jesus as Lord. Blessings John. justme |

Ken Hepting: Brother in Christ. I am coming to you with kindness and respect, and I sincerely hope you will take this with a sweet spirit, as this is how I come to you. Lockman has in very forthright terms said the dialofue of Calvinism is off limits. There is no exceptions. This rule was made for a specfic reason that makes no difference as to what I think or feel about it. This is Lockmans Bible Study Forum and either I abide by it or I leave. Hank has personally made this very clear to me. I resoect and will abide bt this rule. May I invite you to join wit us who choose to stay in the Forum and abide by their wishes, if you can call it wishes, I would rather use wishes than absolute rule. Blessings. justme |

DL5:-) Good to heasr from you. Yes this is a text from the depths of hell! You are correct, and we need to besure of what we state, so we are crediable, and to read John chapter 1, in this evil garbage, is important so you can defend what you say about it. So keep on learning and being able to defend the Truth that is in you. Blessings DL5. justme |

Markarios, brother in Christ: I have been rewared by being a fellow student with the now, Dr. James White of (aom.org) who spent much time in class educating his class mates obout cults. I even visited a JW church and had one on one dialogue, and read all I could on the JW. There is a pamplet called "The Spirit of Truth and Error" which I encourage every Christian to get and refer to when respectfully and kindly dialoguing with these people who need Jesus so badly. You notes are a blessing and an encouragement, thank you. justme |

Tara1: justme here, I am the oinionated one who attacked the NWT. I stand my gound not based on "ignorance", but years of studing translations, and cults. I am concerned that in your note you say Jesus Christ is His Son. Do you believe that nothing but regeneration in Jesus Christ, can you enter heaven? Do you believe that you can know you will enter heaven by the only way to the Almighty Father God, Jesus Christ? Do you believe that no one enters the presence of God except throught Jesus Christ and Him alone? Do you believe salvation is found in no other way thhaan through Jesus Christ and His Shed Blood on the cross, and physically rasing form the dead? Tara if you believve all these things, than the sad issue is the NWT does not agree whith the statements I just printed. I would like to have you respond in kindness and respect, as I dialogue with you with these principles in the same way as I request. I look forward to hearing from you. justme |

MrArnold2345: Welcome to the Bible Study Forum! Please feel free to contact The Lockman Foundation who did all the publication and oversaw the transalation teams when making the NASB and the updated as well, at 1-714-879-3055. They will present your question to a translation team and respond to you in a timmely fashion. I have called them, about a concern I had. Their explimation was quite lengthy and was very comprehensive. They encourage such questions. The New world Translation Jehonadab refered to is perhaps the most mistranslated Bible yet to date. This Bible is a cult version by the J. W. cult. My advice is to keep away from anyone who would suggest it is a worthy translation. I say this as srtong warning that there are less than honest J.W.'s who are wolves in sheeps skins. Peace. justme |

Jehonadab: Anyone not a member of the J. W. cult, who uses the New World Translation is making a serious mistake. Are you a J. W.? If you are not, I would encourage you to dump this serious flawed, desciptively on purpose, wicked translation. Do you have any idea of how New World Translation so mistranslated John Chapter 1.? I hope to hear from you. justme |
