601 | What is your take on Westcott and Hort? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 124471
Mark: Thank you for your thoughts. I have lived long enough to see numbers of Christians make utter fools of of themselfs and shame the cause of Christ. One of the longest running lies, that just won't die, is that the FCC has a bill in Congress to remove all Christian Radio stations, and we are to sign the patition and send it to the FCC. The truth is that even today this stupidity refuses to die! The US Government spends more than you would believe every year to just open these letters from "those who choose to remain ignorant" Christians. Nearly every Christian magizine has at some time rebuffed this to help stop this stupidty. All has failed in the nearly 30 years this has gone from church to church. Protor and Gamble nearly went bankrupt because of Christians reacting to ignorant people saying to boycott their products because the symbol of stars and the moon were gossiped to be a sign related to witchcraft. This is utter nonsense! Then there is the lie made up to make the Bible sound more believable. That JPL had with the help of NASA found the missing day in the Old Testament where the sun stood still. Again, this has been and continues to be circulated. Why do Christians seem to make fools of thenselves in spreading such ignorant garbage? I in no way appologize for my statements about ignorance and those who refuse to believe the truth when it smacks them in the face, and then choose to believe a lie. Yes I have an attitude when the a lie is choosen over the truth. In the nearly three years I have been involved with this Forum I don't recall anyone saying I had personally called them a name. I most certianly believe in calling sin a sin, and when someone askes for an answer to a question, I will be kind and respectfull to them. I expect the same in return. Now, I did not say you were ignorant, or that you choose to remain ignorant. If my words seem harsh it is because the harsh reality is that some Christians "choose to remain ignorant" and some Christians "refuse to see and believe the truth". Case in point, Benny Hinn, Oral Roberts, Kenneth Haggen, Kenneth Copland, Joyce Meyer, just to name a few false teachers. I sincerely hope that you might gain more insight to where I am coming from. As to anyone who chooses to use the KJV, that is a wonderfully poetic translation. I grew up on it, I respect it, but I am adomit, that anyone who says a piticular version or translation is the one and only Bible that is the ture Bible then that is a sin to do so. I did not think that you were saying that. May I suggest that in my opinion that the battle of the Christian is to stand up for turth with the TRUTH, Jesus Christ. I prefer to focus on what we have in common, rather than take everything so very personal. Knowing Dr. James White, and his very solid Biblical based web site, I encourage you to write and ask him the question or call his office. I am sure you will be blessed. You might also contact Lockman Foundation and I believe at one time they too were accused of using this material, and cleared it up for me, if memory serves me well. Finally brother, never let anything anyone says in the forum become a way to get your temper up. Frankly there just is no reason to be mean. I never attack or call a person names, only the behavior. Blessings. justme |

602 | The husband of only one wife? | Titus 1:6 | justme | 124315
Kalos: Greetings brother: The idea of divorce is considered by many Christians to be an accepted fact of life, due to our culture and liberal views. The word divorce should bring fear into every Christians soul. The braking of a Covenant is very serious, and not without serious life long issues. There is no such thing as a person without some guilt. Neither is there anyone who is fully human without sin. The verse in Malachi is often not used correctly. The word is "send away" or "put away" not divorce. I feel certian this dialogue has been worn out, and I will not labor over the difference. When one studies and understands that no matter what we call it God still calls it sin. Perhaps too often we fail to see that ALL sin is cleansed in the same way 1 John 1:9,10. The exception clause of adultery is not really intended to cover up for hardness of heart, it is for those who have no way to resolve this with a non-repentent mate. The real proble is that Christian divorce rate is at the same level or more than non-Christians, which is not justifiable, in any way what so ever. Would that churches spent more effort in rebuilding damaged marriages and less on how to reaccumilate ones self into the church after divorce. I believe many church "single" groups are easy way on how not to place the responsibility of ones actions and walk away free. This is not a help for many. There are some who have divorced Chirstian mates and seem to be functioning quite well. One example is the Rev. Dr. Stanley has stood the test of time and continues to minister very well. I choose not to judge, but rather to let the Holy Father be with those in such hearty braking circunstances. Often we make divorce the unforgiveable sin, and we all know that is not the case. Again brother, this is a very serious question that has and will cintinue to be many long dialogues about. The important thing is for each of us to seek to be in the center of the Fathers will, and for aour mate to do the same and there won't be a divorce. Blesings. justme |

605 | Biblical - women preachers/teachers??? | 1 Tim 2:12 | justme | 123750
EdB. Greetings brother: I think that this has been dialogued a number of times before, and I never tire of dropping some food for thought, in a kind respectful way. I find it interesting that in the 1800's there were many women in positions of Pastor in the United States. Most all of the Protestant denominations had women Pastors, and a good number still do today. Do women do a good job as a Pastor? Are women called to Pastor, are they barinf the fruit of ministry? How do I tell a female Pastor that has a growing church, and is preaching the Word, that she can't possibly be called? These are real issues, and I struggle with the answers. Often we equate The Women's Liberation Movement with women in ministry. Often homosexuality and feminism in the same group, and the truth is these two areas do bleed over to one another. However, when a woman has the call of God and does not align with herself in any way with such demanding of "their rights" but does prove to be a servant of Christ perhaps there is much more to God's call to minister than we fully understand? What are your thoughts? Blessings EdB. justme |

606 | Biblical - women preachers/teachers??? | 1 Tim 2:12 | justme | 123749
BradK: Greetings Brad. I have read with interest the thread on going, so I thought I would add to it, if that's ok. The term used in Eph. for submit means "to arrange in order" no where does the word obey come in line with submit. The reality is we are called to mutial "subjection" which is the correct translation not submission. Eph 5:21 and 22 were written together, and not intended to be separated, but kept in one context. To further help bring my point out more, the responsiblity of the husband is much more of a servant partner. Men are in deed to submit, or be subject to the wife's welfare in EVERY way, just as Jesus has done for us all. Often I see the women are subjective to the point that almost looks like slavery. Yes Brad, submission is a unpopular word today and in years past. Because men have abused and misunderstood what real Biblical understanding of being a head of the wife means. Men are to be "as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body" Eph. 5:23 May I suggest a enlightening book, EACH FOR THE OTHER by Bryan Chapell Baj\ker Books 1998. This book has so awaken my heart to how as a husband and father I need to be. Let me give you an example of just one quote. "The head of a home stands before God on behalf of his family and he lives before his family on behalf of God. This is the headship God honors." page 37. I can say this one quote has so rocked my understanding of what God expects of me, I am humbled to the very core of my being. The 13 dollar price is one of the best investments I have ever made. I am wondering what are your thoughts are? Does this awaken any feelings? Blessings Brad. justme |

607 | WHAT DAY OF THE WEEK DID JESUS DIE | Mark 8:31 | justme | 122939
Signmanbob: I respectfully would like to give you a better understanding. The Jewisk law regarde any part of a day as a day. A day was sunset to sunset. Jesus was put to death on the day of preperation, Friday. They had to place Jesus in the tomb before sunset. So the part of Friday is considered day one. Saturday is day two. Sunday, resurrection day is the third day. This is how the three days is arrived. This is how the majority of orthodox Christianity has view this from the earliest church fathers time. I can not see how by using Scripture you can come any other conclusion. Hope this helps. Any thoughts? justme |

608 | 'Lone rangers' and spiritual discernment | 1 Cor 12:12 | justme | 122233
Hank: My respect and love for Southern Baptist was established in 1981. The outstanding and noteworthy effort this denomination has gone to to keep God's Word as is stated in the Baptist Faith and Message stands as a becon in a dark world. I can say this with out denominational bias, because we are not a part of the SBC at this time. That was said so no one would feel I was pushing the SBC. However, I would have no issue to prevent becoming a member of a SBC church again at some point and time. As for the Doctor of Divinity degree, I noticed in CHRISTIANITY TODAY, there are several adds selling all sorts of degrees. (for a price) This practice of selling degrees has been done with the help of Goverment Student Loans. This is no joke, I saw it on TV news last week! The issue I find sad is when people taking what they believe to be short cuts to ministry, attempt to minister and have shuch messed up Theology. Such is the case of many of the Word of Faith Movement leaders that abuse pulpit on stages over the USA. This has bankrupted many a persons spiritual life. Over the last five decades these false teachers have fallen for all to see and bring shame to genuine Christianity. A.A. Allen, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Baker, Oral Roberts, Robert Tillman, and to the more cultic Jim Jones. I am sure the list could go on for a long while. Granted there are Christians that do fall, but those who are genuine born again believers there is open confession and repentance of their sin. The person who is genuinely repentant is often restored to the body of believers they are accountable to, something these WOF leaders have never done, that I am aware of. I am sure you know about all this, but perhaps someone reading this will have concern enough to rethink all this. Blessings and batten down the hatches as the storms are here again this year. justme |

ourfathersheart: I think now I have a better idea of what your are. A Dortor of Naturopathic. Friend there is not any insurance company in the u\United States that gives this kind of "Doctor" any credience whatsoever. I stand by my word you are a lone ranger! You have skipped over some very important areas in life for ministry, and now it seems medicine too. I do in deed feel pitty fror those who fall into your spiritual and medical hands. There are no short cuts to heaven, and to become a Minister or Medical Doctor. For HIS sake reconsider the path you are taking! justme |

612 | Is speaking in tongues a necessity ? | Acts 2:4 | justme | 122103
Hank:-) Greetings. I have found there is a feeling of mistery and emotional excitement when unspiritual, inmature christians dive into this spiritualistic slain-in-the-spirit state of mind. When anyone gives control of consience or mind, then the suggestion of gibberish talk is more likely to happen. Thus Benny and rest of the false teachers become alive and preform their deeds so well. When people feel there is something special that only a chosen few can have, then natural sin takes place for "got to have it too", which is just pride in a different form. Blessings. justme |

619 | Who celebrates Easter Sunday and Why ? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 118567
MedChill: My understanding is that Jesus was refering to until He returned they were to do this as a remberance of shed Blood and death on the cross. When Jesus rasied from the dead in John 21:12-24 Jesus has been resurrected, and He eats again with them. Now we celebrate Jesus' sheading and being broken on the cross, and His resurrection. For with out Jesus resurrection our faith would be worthless. This is a very important concept as it is the very core of not only our faith in Christ Jesus, but our Lords Supper celebration. What do you think now? justme |

620 | Who celebrates Easter Sunday and Why ? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 118564
EdB: That makes me understand it better. I am glad we agree, as seldom do we not have the same or close to same understanding of Scripture. If people have a hard time comunicating today, it makes me see how much that God watched over His Word as the Holy Spirit brought Scripture together in a perfect fit. Wow, what a thought about how the Scripture is so out of this world. Blessings again EdB. justme |
