241 | can a child be baptised | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 216721
Searcher:-) It's ok and no need to feel like you are less a Christian because you are not in total agree ment with the Baptist Faith and Message. I have some real disagreements as well. I am a Christian that has agreed to fellowship and support my local body of believers which are SBC. I have sprinklesd an older lady that was near death that insisted I baptised her. In sprinkling her I said it was a symbol of immersion. I have no issue about sprinkling when immersion is not a possibility. My basic under pinnings in the Christian faith are American Baptist. I went to a SBC College, and an American Baptist Seminary so I have some mixed theology in my system. The biggest issue many baptist would have with me is, I believe in ordaining women and I believe women can serve as pastors. Women serve on the mission field in every church position you can think of. In the eighteen hundreds if it were not for women pastors in the US, our growing country would have not had near as many churches or Christians. I believe Scripture does allow women to be in such positions. I have been fully taken to task on my beliefs about women and don't want debate this over again, as I would rather just let whoever think as God leads them. The only Denomination that I find rather angry in nature the GARB which in their statement of faith openly attacks the ABC USA. I don't argue with that either. Searcher as you know Scripture says we are to be convicted that what we believe is truth from Scripture. Minor things are open for debate, solid Doctrines are not. I consider the differences we have as open between us. You are a brother who is well studied and I totally respect you. Blessings. justme |

Hopalong: There isno way for the person baptising someone who says and presents themselves as genuine born again to know ondred percent sure this person being baptised is really saved. Only the Lord knows for sure. However it is not the pastors spiritual skill to know totally for sure. Therefore it is not the right of a pastor to say no if his or her testomony is as it should be. Even if the person is not saved and has fooled him or herself this may have an impact that caoused further inward inspection of the persons motives and search their heart even deeper. I believe the Holy Father uses many experiences to bring us to Him. In other words, I agree with you. Blessings. justme |

243 | follow up to 1 corinth 15 question | 1 Cor 15:52 | justme | 216608
Val: Just how many Forum menbers have to say you are being offensive before you take to heart? Perhaps, you need some time to gather some thoughts. No one is against you, but you come accross quite angry and know it all. This is my LAST note. justme |

Val: I thought you response was kind, until your last line. I find it a sad note, and it says a lot about the love, kindness, and respect you show to me. Your rudeness is forgiven and I shall avoid communicating with you. Hopefully that will bring some peace. justme |

245 | follow up to 1 corinth 15 question | 1 Cor 15:52 | justme | 216500
Val: Just as a point on your response. If someone sent me a note with "Greetings man" it might considered to be a put down on me being a man. Val, the point you make about the "day" really is more solidly in favor of meaning a single day. This may be debatable, but the most literal understanding is a one day event. In all honesty as I read your note with "Greetings man" for me and perhaps other men it sure came out like "man bashing" to me. Perhaps that's not what you ment? We all need to be reminded to consider how our words on the screen might be read in a way we did not intend. The world judges us by how we treat each other, and the love and respect we show each other. The dialogue on the day of the Lord is open to different interpretations and dialogue, but not to insist it is only to be viewed as my way only. Blessings. justme |

246 | weep with others is more important? | Rom 12:15 | justme | 216222
Brad:-) I can only speak for me on this subject. I seem to have my share of serious health problems, several life threatening. I will ask my pastor to remember me in prayer, but I restrict the knowledge to him alone. Why? Becaues I would have my name on the prayer list a lot of the time, and I think people would think I complain too much. I find it very hard to ask for empathy or for my sickness to be widely know. So this is my side of the coin. I will gladly share any good news. I am thinking of adding Job to my name too. Blessings. justme...Job |

Tim :-) Wow. I am sure the Cokesbury manager at Central Baptist Theological Seminary did me a favor. I was, and still am, always looking for a huge bargin in the Christian book stores. Now all I have to do is understand how the set is used. I think I can eventually use them. It's nice to know I have something that is of value and can grow into. I am blessed in so many ways. The Lord is so good. Blessings Tim. justme |

Tim:-) After reading your note, I have a question. But first let me explain. While in Seminary the school book store had a close out sale. I saw a ten volume set called THEOLOGICAL DICTIONARY OF THE NEW TESTAMENT by Ronald E Pitkin, Eerdmans Publishing Company printed edition 1983. After graduating, some years later I briefly looked it over. I thought it was way over my head, and put it on a bottom shelf in our library. However after reading your note I took out volume ten and I think I just might be able to learn how to use this set. They are brand new, never used. Would this be sorta what you ment to get? I do not remember what I paid for the set but I do know it was as I recall a good amount of money. If this is not what you ment could you be a little more specific? Thanks Tim. Blessings. justme |

Doc :-) I use Greek tools that allow me to do some very basic searches of Greek words. I find that just the study of the WORD keeps me filled with many searches for meanings. I am very sure I would not be able to learn Greek at this point in my life. Thanks for the note. Blessings justme |

251 | Did Jesus ever drink wine? | Matt 11:19 | justme | 215923
Morant61: Brother Tim, in 3,000 sermons You are able to track you messages much better than any other Pastor I know of. Congradulations you can't have ADD and do that, I admire your organization skills. I have mostly preached book by book. I am under the understanding that by doing book by book you eventually cover everything, and no one can say you are preaching at then alone and their sin. I have found it is amazing how often the Holy Spirit uses the Word to reach those who need just that message at that time. If some who find fault at how preachers preach I would like to see how they suffer in preparing to bring forth the Word God has directed us to preach. Never did I feel I did enough preperation, Sermon preperation is the hardest work there is to do. Blessings Pastor Tim. justme |

253 | Did Jesus ever drink wine? | Matt 11:19 | justme | 215884
Vintage68: The wine that Jesus drank was totally different than what the wine made today is. The wine at the time Jesus lived was diluted from a concentrate about 4 parts of water to one part of wine. You would have to consume a lot to feel much of the effects. You would be water logued if you drank that much diluted wine. Jesus would never comsume anything that the religious leaders could point to as sinful, and they be correct. I have heard so many weak willed drunks use this verse that Jesus drank wine and thus it was ok for them. That's pure hogwash. There is no reason to drink the wine made today when there is such great grape juice. This is especially so if our drinking wine should offend anyone. justme |

ptr: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! Please do not use all capitol letters, as this says you are angry. I totally agree with your statement. However, when answering a question put your answer under the name who put the question. For example go to the first posting od iohitjohn93 and make your answer there. I am justme and I am saying the same as you posted to me. You will catch on, good to have you in the SBF. justme |

256 | Hank is wainting, are you ready? | 2 Cor 1:10 | justme | 215515
John: I was attempting to say that the word hard has tow different meanings in paryer. I think diligently or fervor is a much better wording to ask people to do. May I say to pray for that man you spoke of is very "hard" in reality. I can't imagine the pain and anger your family has been in. I do not know how a person lived and moves on after such a difficult situation. You are a follower of Jesus that shows for sure. Blessings. justme |

st.john: Have you ever thought about why we say "pray harder"? I have used that therm for many years. But one day I heard someone say that and it just did not add up. Is prayer hard? Maybe a better word would be pray more intentionaly? Maybe you can come up with a better term? Blessings. justme |

258 | Chosen one | 1 Cor 6:19 | justme | 215359
lionheart: I have a bridge in my mouth. When the dentist ask me if I would like a design on the bridge, I was really schocked. I had no idea he could do that. I asked can you put my last name on it. My last name has six letters. He did put on the bridge my last name. I was going to Bolivia for the second time. I have also been in Mexico way out in the mountians away from much civilazation about five times or so. If someone dies and the body is shipped back to the US at that time Bolivia cremated the body and shipped the ashes. There is no doubt that I am who I say I am by the bridge in my mouth. The bridge can only be seen when I pull back my cheek and show the six letters. I don't call ths a tattoo by any means. Perhaps other might want to think about this as well. justme |

259 | Is tattoos acceptabe as christians | 1 Cor 6:19 | justme | 215358
Azure: This "story" is a made up one. The very same story was in a book on situation ethics. There is no excuse EVER for prostituting, NONE. Either the Lord can feed us or the Lord wants us home. In James it says we are drawn into sin, not by God but by our own selfish desires. Remember many Christians in the past chose death over their worship of a government head. Did not Daniel trust God over bowing down? Situation ethics is really tricky, a tool satan has used from the time of Adam and Eve. justme |

nickmostly: Thank you for a nice Christian attitude. Yes Nick, I did read both notes. I think we often read the same materials and come to different conclusions. What's more important is how we show that we are Christians by the way we can disagree, but not be disagreeable. I hope that shows in me, I do see it in you. Blessings. justme |
