Dear New Creature: There is no one who takes a deeper stand or position on scripture than me. That I know personally. I assure you. True, you gave a limited perspective of your view. However, my Friend you are lacking in Word study. With out getting to the root word meaning you only have half or less the information you need. Might I suggest getting A.T. Robinson's 7 volume set of the New Testament, or at least VINES EXPOSITORY DICTIONARY OF NEW TESTAMEN5T WORDS. When you give advice and use scripture to back your view up I would think you would want to be as correct as possible. Friend you were not! There was PUTTING AWAY, which was the verb, used by Jesus when in Matthew he says Jesus hates divorce. That word divorce is putting away. Sending a man or woman away with out a certificate of divorce. The word Divorce which is apoluo the verb, used in Matthew 1:19 and 19:3,-7-9 Mark 10:2,4,11, and Luke 16:18 The Lord used it of the case of the wife putting away the husband. This was done by the romans, not among the Jews. The noun used by Jesus was apostasion, which denotes a writing or bill of divorcement. Found in Matthew 5:31 19:7, Mark 10:4, and in the Sept., duet.24:3, Isa.50:1, Jer. 3:8 amd I suggest reading lCor. 7. where it addresses people married to non christians, and every issue. When you condem someone to a life of lonleiness, with having full knowledge of what the scripture says in its complete menaing, that Friend is not Godly advice. Now if you have learned anything that is well and fine, However if you are still as stern in your understanding as before, let me say this. I have seen such judgemental christians litteraly eat their words in the most painful way you can imagine. I would suggest to you that truth without love is as bad as love without truth. I ask you how does your truth show love, mercy, and how has your truth shown anyone that God can forgive any one of anything? To be very blunt it shows a lot of anger and self pride. God did not make you or me the judge of anyone but ourself! Awake Friend the church is full of hurting sinners who need to be released from the bondage of guilt that has then so bound up they have almost given up on the church and Gods mercy. I ask you to pray and ask Christ to show you the true way to show His love to a hurting world. I have been very direct and open with you. I normally do not take the time to dialouge with a person who was so staunch in their view. I felt the Lord leading me to try and open your eyes to a better way. In christian love I submit this to you friend. I hope it was worth my time. agape, just me |

1522 | Scriptures verses banning incest? | Leviticus | justme | 50075
Dear Jungleman: Incest is most assurdly illegal. In fact if you know of a situation of incest and do not report it you can be held responsible for allowing it to continue. However there is no doubt that Cain had to have married a sister or niece. The gene pool was purer then and that was Gods way to populate the earth. However there are some genethisits that now say first cousins marring is not considered the risk that once was believed. In some states I have been told first cousins can marry. I still believe that when God gave us Livitical laws they were an end to allowing family inter-marriage. Hope this adds to your information. agape, justme |

I wanted you to think about your position a little more. To just make a blanket statement, with out thinking about the complete contex is stern. I think you are open to growth and wanted you to see things from a more mercyfull position. I do appreciate your brevity but sometimes a longer answer is needed. Peace. justme |

Dear Brother Ray: Thank you as you were the only one who did not say scripture does not record this event any where. Well scripture does not contradict its self. I think you have as good an idea as I have thought just wanted to see if anyone else had ever wondered as I have. Thanks for you time. agape, justme |

1525 | bible reference to support remarrying | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 49969
Dear kkid: I would disagree with New Creature. There are many carnal christians who have fallen into sin of all types. Now, I want to carefully point out I believe divorce is not an option for a christian couple. Adultry is not a reqired for divorce, niether is it grounds for divorce. What is at the root of divorce? Pride and hardness of heart, pure sin! God hates sin! But loves the sinner. I would suggest that any couple can work out anything! "IF" they are willing to forgive and seek Gods will. That my friend is the problem. Sad but in a day when instant gratification is "a personal right" and no one is willing to pe patient and let God work, which may take several years. Usually one goes their own way and unites with a nother person. At that point there is no way to reunite the couple. What now? Does not God forgive all sin the same way? You would be free to remarry, but only a christian. One word of caution, most second marriages fave a failure rate double that of first marriages. I would suggest some heavy duty counseling with a very well qualfied degreed christian counselor. If you don't find out you what you failures were, you are certian to repeat them, with someone new. Marriage is a covenant, the higest form of contract. Be very certian you walk with God is seeking healing, and it may well not be possible for you to heal to the point you can remarry. Paul tells us marriage hampers our ability to serve Christ. Any person who feels incomplets being single has some issues to work at. We are not completed by the person we marry, but become joiny partners for life, and Christ. Hope this helps. agape, justme |

1526 | Why not Brothers? | 1 Cor 11:3 | justme | 49810
Deut.29:29 is a wise verse. There are some things that our minds acn not understand. I believe in the trinity, but explaining it is not a simple 1.2.3. The real issue is what have you done with jesus Christ and how has His love changed your life? Choose to disagree but do not be disagreable. Lear to love and respect and then you are open for the Holy Spirit to let you teach others and learn. If you lived to be 1000 years old you would still have only scrathced the surface. So I say peace. agape, justme. |

I remember a child who was terminal who said :inch by inch life is a sinch. Yard by yard life is too hard." Very wise young lady. We all take life one second, and one breath at a time. Bless you ray. agape, justme |

No,I ment Romans 14:1. We are to accept people who we mighy consider different. Perhaps one who speaks in tongues thinks that is an assurance of high spirituality. Yet someone else feels the gift of teaching is greater than togues. If we respect and show love to each other is that not even greater? I have never failed to see this issue of tongues divide believers, when in fact it shouls unite us. I am in no way braging, I have spoken in a prayer tongue once, and I did not pray for in, I know it was real. I have no problem, except I would prefer to let my gifts be manifasted where others tell me that they see God at work in me through the gift He has given me. agape, justme |

1530 | The gift of Tongues | 1 Corinthians | justme | 49697
Dear friend in no way do I know more than any translator. I am sorry for any thing that gave that impression. I do read what other wiser and more up to date translators say. I have no problem with the KJV, in fact it makes no difference to me if you read from the orignal 1611 version, it still has what is essential for growth an to speak to who ever will take the time to read it. May I suggest that that you seem to be rather raw in the nerves when tongues come up. I defend you right to express anything you want and feel is a way of showing how Gods love has brought you closer to Him with whatever gitt you have.Just please respect those who do not have that gift, and don't expect everyone to understand you spiritual growth. We all mature at different paces. Maturity tales a life time not a quick few years. I am you brother in Christ and you have the right to expect love amd kindness from me and every one else in the Forum! That is Christ command and I hope I am following that. Agape, justme |

1531 | asking for gifts of teh Spirit? | 1 Corinthians | justme | 49479
Dear Jydubb: Please pray instead, that I remain in the center of the LORDS will. I know my gift's and God allows me the humble use of them as He needs me to be of service. Brother remember being a Baptist, "or what ever church you choose to associate with, no more makes you a christian; anymore than going to McDonalds makes you a hamburg." Kieth Green said that in the late eighties before his going home with our Lord. So let the Word speak louder than any messenger you hear on the radio or TV. God Bless you friend. agape, justme |

1534 | What year did Jesus died? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 49421
Jesus death and ressurection could have been as late as AD 36, depending on the accurate birth year which scholars say was from AD 2 to AD 6. I presonaly think about AD 34. The real issue is, He was born of the vergin Mary and Was crucified was burried and rose again! Which there is ample evidence for those who choose to believe, and never enough for those who reject our LORD Jesus Christ! agape, justme |

1535 | spiritual healing or physical healing? | Is 53:6 | justme | 49415
Very well put Joe! I might add Romans 8:29 How we suffer to be conformed into the image of Christ! C. S. Lewis wrote extensively on the suffering of man. Lewis said suffering is the megaphone that gets mans attention. Not a quote a summary of mine. I believe Lewis was on track. His book was titled PAIN AND SUFFERING and is in paper back at very affordable price or perhaps a Church Library or regular libarary will have it. Well worth the reading. Also the movie of C. S, Lewis's life SHADOW LANDS is very good. View it several time and you will get something new every time. agape, justme |

1536 | The gift of Tongues | 1 Corinthians | justme | 49412
Dear Grace and truth: You receieve the "Holy Spirit" (no such thing as ghost, mistranslation on KJV). That happens the very second Christ becomes your LORD! You don't ask for gifts! Do you? Gift6s are just that, given by the will of God. Why not ask for the gift of helps, or teaching, or giving? The gift of tongues is the least of all the gifts! Better, how about asking God to use you in seeking out lost souls and sharing Christ with then. I think you have spent far to much time seeking what may not be the gift God has for you. agape, justme |

1538 | the best Manuscripts? | Acts | justme | 48973
Dear retxar: I am not a Biblical language expert by any means. However, I have done graduate studies in Biblical criticism, with professors whose life study and teaching speciality was. When researching scripture they compare many early copies with each other. There were no verses at that time. Scripture was broken up into verses much later and I am not sure but I think about the 4th to 6th century at the earliest. Therefore if some verse or writing entry show up after the earliest manuscripts it would be a reasonable conclusion that writing entry, or verse was added later. An example of this would be Mark 16:9 to 20. Most translations will have a footnote or a reference somewhere near the verse to note this is a questionalble verse or verses. The KJV in its 1611 edition is not what you would expect. The spelling is not as we spell today. The v's are w's and many letters are not like today. There have been many revisions of the KJV, as more discoveries of earlier copies of scripture has turned up. Also words have completly changed in meaning. Having said that, the KJV is a good Bible and worthy of use today. I believe the very best Bible is the one you will read. I hope this helps retxar. agape, justme |

Dear Makarios: You presented a very fine and authoritive answer worthy of "I am proud of you". As some know there is no way to translate every work from Hebrew or Greek exactly, into English.I like what the NIV editors say in their preface that no veersion is perfect. In our studies these translators are always seeking corrections from worthy sources. Should anyone find a better wording or have an opinion they wish to express to The Lockman Foundation or Zondervan Publishers they will listen and respond with respect. I have done this and was amazed athe volumes of material Zondervan sent me. The Lockman Foundation will assist you and answer anything you ask. In my humble opinion the Updated NASB is the most accurate word for word translation in print today in English. Agape, justme |
