graceful, Thank you for your reply. 1 John 4:1 says that we are not to believe every spirit, but to test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world, it amaze me that other members on this forum (I'll get a lot of feed back on this one) don't know how to test every spirit. In the next verse (2) says how to test the spirits, "This is how you can recongnize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God"...you and I acknowledge Jesus in our lives, don't they recongnize this, so what's up with that? Just because they don't love us, doesn't mean we don't love them, amen! I believe in ALL the promises of God, they are "YES" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2Cor.1:20-22. Graceful, thank you again, it's a pleasure. I close with 1 Cor. 15:57-58 "But thanks be to God! He give us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear bothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that you labor in the Lord is not in vain." God bless |

Hank-- I was out of town for ten days and I come back to this thread. Can you believe what has happened here? So let me sum this up, you don't love Kenneth Copeland! (to put it mildly), Oh well, it still doesn't change the fact that Kenneth is a brother, he has Christ in his life and the blood of Christ has set him free, just as Christ has set you and me free. Since this thread has been restricted, I'll look forward to interact with you, in a Christian spirit, with respect and grace at another time. I look forward to the day when these ridiculous attacks and with lies, half-truths, misrepresentations and insults being used as the primary weapons will cease. When the body of Christ can come together on one accord we will then be able to collectively defeat our common enemy, Satan. God bless 1 Corinthians 2:5 |

47 | Can you fall from grace? | John 5:24 | inmyheart | 81688
I agree with your post. However, can you fall from grace by eliminating Col.1:23, or what happens if you don't "indeed continue in the faith?" We are MEMBERS OF HIS BODY, OF HIS FLESH-Eph 5:30. One may ask, "How can we become separated, and not be members of His body?" The answer, again, is given by God’s Word. THOU STANDEST BY FAITH. If we depart from faith, we depart from being members of His body. |

48 | Did Jesus visit hell when he died on the | Bible general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 81667
Thank you for clarifying that. Now to your post. One of the most puzzling questions for a lot of Christians is how are we to understand 1st Peter 3:18 where it says that by Christ's death and his resurrection (being made alive), He went and preached unto the spirits in prison. There are many who theorize unrighteously that these verses speak of a purgatory, or some spirit-world of the imprisoned lost. This is totally contrary to all that scripture declares. The Bible is perfectly clear that whatever spiritual condition a person dies in, whether Saved or unsaved, is the condition that he will stand before God in judgement. There is no possibility for a second chance at redemption after death. Hebrews 9:27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" Once man dies, his chance for redemption is over. We are judged for what we do in this world, and we receive Salvation by Christ in this world, not the next. In the Parable of Lazarus, Jesus makes it clear that there is a great gulf fixed (luke 16:26) where one cannot pass from one side to the other. If we die unsaved, that is the condition which we will remain in. In this brief study we will take a careful look at these verses and let the Holy Spirit of God reveal his truth to us. For in all honesty, no one else can. 1st Peter 3:18-20 "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit: by which also He went and preached unto the saints in prison; which sometimes were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the Ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water." These are indeed difficult passages, but we can begin to come to an understanding of what they mean when we follow what it says "in the light of the rest of scripture," with no preconceived ideas about it. Remember, the Bible was not of any private interpretation of the Saints of old, nor is it subject to our private interpretation today. 2nd Peter 1:20-21 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." Every Word is inspired of God, and thus cannot be subject to man's personal interpretation by what seems right in his own eyes. God's Word is it's own interpreter. It cannot be led or guided, it must be followed and received. Only through the Holy Spirit and the careful comparing of (and study in) scriptures, will we ever come to the true understanding of what it truly says. I believe that if we do this, we will find that what it says in this chapter is that that by Christ's death in the flesh and being made alive in the Spirit, He went and preached to the spirits in prison. With these humble beginnings, it is now a matter of defining "biblical terms". As you see there is no short answer. Let me know if this is what you are seeking. God bless |

49 | Can you fall from grace? | John 5:24 | inmyheart | 81661
It is written, THE FOUNDATION OF GOD STANDETH SURE, HAVING THIS SEAL, THE LORD KNOWETH THEM THAT ARE HIS-2 Tim 2:19. WHO ARE KEPT BY THE POWER OF GOD THROUGH FAITH UNTO SALVATION-1 Pe 1:5. How does God keep us? How do we stand? It is by faith. If we lose our faith, we are not standing sure, and are not kept by the power of God. For, WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE HIM-Heb 11:6. |

50 | Can you fall from grace? | John 5:24 | inmyheart | 81636
Jesus tells us, FOR HIM HATH GOD THE FATHER SEALED-Jn 6:27. When we are saved, God gives us His Spirit. Can we be unsealed? It is written, AFTER THAT YE BELIEVED, YE WERE SEALED WITH THAT HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE, WHICH IS THE EARNEST OF OUR INHERITANCE UNTIL THE REDEMPTION OF THE PURCHASED POSSESSION-Eph 1:13,14. Note, THE EARNEST OF OUR INHERITANCE. "Earnest" or arrabon means money deposited by the purchaser and forfeited, if the purchase was not completed. It was thought to be a Phoenician word which was introduced into Greece. In modern Greek, arrabona is an engagement ring. Regretfully, some modern Bible versions have translated this word incorrectly, which has caused some confusion. The Bible gives us the formula for completing a purchase. Jesus paid it completely by His shed blood; however, we must hold on to our faith, for we stand by faith. We must hold THE BEGINNING OF OUR CONFIDENCE STEDFAST UNTO THE END-Heb 3:14. We enter into a contract (or covenant, or solemn agreement) when we receive Jesus. Jesus is the Groom, and we are the bride. He gives us a pledge or token of this contract, a ring, in a manner of speaking. He cannot break His contract with us. He will never leave or forsake the contract. The price of the purchase has been paid. Now, we receive an engagement ring (the Holy Spirit) as a deposit; thus, we are sealed unto Jesus as His bride. During this period of being sealed, temptations come against us to try to draw us away. We are tested to see if our love for Jesus is real. Will we wait for our Bridegroom faithfully, no matter what temptations come? Or will we stop waiting, and go off to serve another? We have been bought for a price. Jesus died for us. Yet we can "take off the ring," and choose to serve another. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to stand against the enemy. He promises no temptation will come against us that is more than we can bear. Our love and faith are being tested. If we hold firm until He calls us home, we become His bride. If we fall away, the engagement ring is forfeited. We cannot keep it, as the Holy Spirit is a guarantee that we are His, and we are waiting faithfully in love. Many do forfeit the engagement ring. They leave their first love and go to another. The other leads us to death, the lake of fire. |
