701 | Church for believers only? | Acts 2:39 | azurelaw | 181361
Thanks Hank for the detailed answer. I think I should have known it but just the concept is not clear enough though. We have 2 different words in Chinese for church. One renders the meaning of the organization or building, the other refers to the body of Christ. So, when I read the English "church", sometimes I have been confused. Now, I will not be confused anymore. Shalom Azure |

702 | One Pastor and one assembly? | Acts 2:42 | azurelaw | 175140
Dear Hank, I have noticed in some of your recent posts, you have used some strange language or spelling (it looks like so to me) in reply to one or two specific writers, say Bereaniam (Margaret)?. Was it your intention to communicate with them this way? I always enjoy reading your comments and some others' too, say Doc, Kalos, Steve, to name a few. Since I am not a native English speaker, your new approach will add to me some difficulties in understanding your message. I would appreciate it if you could make your language plain (I am not sure if I used the proper wordings here). However, if you think this is the most comfortable or best way for you to communicate with these brothers or sisters, certainly I sincerely respect your choice. Then I have to tune myself to comprehend better :-) In Christ Azure |

704 | One Pastor and one assembly? | Acts 2:42 | azurelaw | 175223
Dear Hank, Thanks for your reply with encouragement and a good sense of humour. I apologize for my ignorance concerning your dialect. It would be fine with me to take the challenge of reading this 'strange and funny' language. But please don't use them in 'key words' :-) My native tongue is Cantonese (a kind of Chinese). You may (if you have time) just read my profile which I have completed for almost a week. May God bless you and all the participants here in this forum. In Christ Azure |

706 | Fellowship with God or man? | Acts 2:42 | azurelaw | 196218
Dear Mrs. Dean, Welcome to the forum. I join with brother John to encourage you that you will be under the perfect care of our Lord. Who knows what is the best for us, but Jesus. It is extremely important to engage in a church with biblical sound doctrines and to have fellowship with God for apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:1-5). A true church of God is also a church of love for this is the command of Jesus to love one another. So, please no haste. Pray, seek and ask, God will give according to His appointed time, means and will for His glory and for your (and your husband's) good. I will pray for God's strength and comfort in your (and your husband) time of difficulties. Shalom Azure |

707 | Acts 7:54-8-1 | Acts 7:58 | azurelaw | 195682
Dear it is written, A warm welcome to the family of God. I am excited to see God's gracious protection on you from the JW. Paul was an amazing fruit of the Holy Spirit. I believe he must be in an extremely deep grief in his conversion during the 3 days blindness (Act 9:9). Our almight God is so awesome!!! Paul's life reminds me of the below verse: Luke 7:47 "For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little." May you be blessed in your study of the Holy Word. Shalom Azure |

711 | Are there any scriptures in the New Test | Acts 11:9 | azurelaw | 196255
Dear Brother John, Yes, we must be reasonable. You know, we (Chinese) almost eat anything. I remember when I was a little child, a close relative was very fond of eating dogs and cats which I felt horrible. He tried to reason his such behaviour with a Chinese saying "those with the back facing the sky are edible". I could not help to talk him back asking "Then do you eat people who are hunchbacked?" (that's what I could do at that age) - silence was the answer I received. Shalom Azure |

Yes, Chinese say: even the Buddhists (I guess only the Chinese Buddhists) cannot resist the tempting flavour. :-) Shalom Azure Eph 2:3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. |

Ah.....He's not that old and we are not that young either. Psalm 133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron's beard, It is like the dew of Hermon Coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing--life forever. :-) Azure |

Ha..Ha.. This time you did not see my smiley face!!! We better stop here, otherwise we violate the terms of use. Gal 5:22-23 ...the fruit of the Spirit is ... self-control; against such things there is no law. Shalom Azure |

718 | The Author's Role | Acts 16:11 | azurelaw | 211462
Dear Newwine, Calm down my friend :-) As far as I know brother John, he always possesses a ready to learn spirit together with a tough and firm position in espousing the sola Scriptura. I am afraid your statement "If you took my honest correction, as a personal attack, or an affront to your biblical knowledge..." is not a correct assessment of his character. Now, I have checked the scripture concerning the change of Paul's role in Acts and please see below findings. Paul was called disciple at first in Acts 9:27 "But Barnabas took hold of him and brought him to the apostles and described to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had talked to him, and how at Damascus he had spoken out boldly in the name of Jesus." Only starting Acts 14:14, he began to be called apostle... "But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their robes and rushed out into the crowd, crying out..." Shalom Azure |

719 | The Author's Role | Acts 16:11 | azurelaw | 211463
Dear Newwine, Correction to my previous post as I copied the wrong verse. Paul was initially regarded as disciple according to Acts 9:26 "When he came to Jerusalem, he was trying to associate with the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple." Sorry for the mistake :-( Shalom Azure |
