501 | Can a woman divorce man: Ongoing porn? | Matthew | azurelaw | 212636
Dear Bandaid, OK, back to your original question in concern with Matt 5:27-28 and Mark 10:10-12. I believe, base on the context, your interpretation is correct that there is no mention of a woman can divorce her husband. Have you also read 1 Cor 7:1-15? Shalom Azure |

504 | Reconcile tomb accounts? | Matt 1:1 | azurelaw | 203880
Dear Tamara, I believe the difference could be deal to different emphasis in handling the material by different writers of the Synoptic Gospels. But I cannot say for certain. This is one of the approaches I learnt. You may read post 202587 which talked about something similar to your question. Just type "202587" onto the "Word(s) or ID#" box at the top right hand corner and search. However, I think other more knowledgable forum participants will be able to give you a satisfactory answer. Dear bowler, The claim that men's max life span is 120 years with reference to Gen 6:3 is taken out of context. (read posts 133457 and 133609). Meanwhile, "ifs" do not carry much weight in sound biblical study :-) Shalom Azure |

511 | What was the point of the temptation ? | Matt 4:1 | azurelaw | 193160
Dear Jesusman, Greetings to you, brother. I have to admit in my opinion, you have asked a good, but heavy question. Hope the dicussion would not fall into the tempter's hands to be argumentative, but instead we are blessed by God to learn more and be edified. In reading the interesting dicussion, I have attempted to make a search on the subject and found an aritcle in the below site which I think should be helpful for us to understand the issue. Hope you would take some time to visit. Shalom Azure http://www.apostolic.net/biblicalstudies/temptationofchrist.htm |

513 | The true Gospel Jesus proclaimed | Matt 4:23 | azurelaw | 224547
Dear 00123 Had Jesus not reminded us about the tares already (Mat 13:24-30)? The point is not whether people agree with you (as per your post 224502) or not, but as believers, what should we do at our church among our fellow members/brethrens. We do not know one's heart, not even our own which is deceitful, too. (Jer 17:9) Please leave the judgment to our Lord. Our responsibility is to discern, admonish, PRAY and LOVE. (1 Cor 13) instead of holding a "holier than thou" attitude. Shalom Azure |

515 | SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH | Matt 5:17 | azurelaw | 223270
Dear Inquisitor, You say: "Guide us? Absolutely. The only single one of the 10 Commandments NOT endorsed in Christianity is the sanctity of the Sabbath as it was strictly part of the previous regime. But the other 9 commandments were issued as basic Godly principles for all mankind to live throughout all time." I agree that Christians do not observe the Sabbath as the Isrealite did in the OT. However, since Jesus Christ came, the Sabbath has been viewed anew. Matthew 11:28-29 Hebrew Ch 3-4 Shalom Azure |

517 | Hatred..Am I truly a Christian?? | Matt 5:44 | azurelaw | 203584
Dear lissamz, I rejoice with you and glory be to His Holy Name. Keep up with your good work and persevere. James 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, James 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. James 1:4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. ***** The Chinese word for "endurance" is made up of two parts: 1/ The upper part means the action of cutting with a knife. It has the Chinese word "knife" with a drop of blood on the edge. 2/ The lower part is the word "heart" Therefore, the Chinese "endurance" depicts that your heart has to continuously bear the hurt exercise on you. **** The goodnews is that we have hope and the love of our Lord has made us perfect. 518 | silent prayer | Matt 6:5 | azurelaw | 191534
Dear mely, Welcome to the forum and thank you for your feedback. Yes, you are right - my quote of the 2 scriptures do not address directly in agreement or disagreement to whether praying aloud or silently for BEING HEARD by Jesus. That is my point if you would like to re-read my post. I did not say that I am against praying aloud. I do both (praying silently and with spoken words) in my private prayers which all depend on how the Holy Spirit guide me. For public prayers or in group praying meeting, of course spoken prayers are needed - for edification as you said. You say : "I believe that the prayer spoken out loud carries power with it - because the words you speak are powerful, and when you speak God's Word out loud you are speaking with power and authority - an authority we are all granted but have to use -" I hardly agree this FORM is superior to the form of silent prayer (I apologize if I misunderstand you) in terms of power and authority. May I present you the below verse Rom 8:26-27 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Concerning my view of the stumbling block, such limitation proposed by that person has no biblical grounds, does not help or even is a hindrance to the growth of a believer's faith. Hope I have made myself clear. Enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |

520 | to get closer to god | Matt 6:6 | azurelaw | 203365
Dear Brian, While I understand that it is God who first seek us (psalm 139) before we can seek Him. However, there are scriptures telling us to seek God. If not, how should we understand the following scriptures: Ps 27:8 When You said, "Seek My face," my heart said to You, "Your face, O LORD, I shall seek." Ps 34:10 The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; But they who seek the LORD shall not be in want of any good thing. Ps 40:16 Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let those who love Your salvation say continually, "The LORD be magnified!" Ps 105:4 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually. Ps 119:2 How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, Who seek Him with all their heart. Prov 8:17 "I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me. Is 55:6 Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Thank you for your further elaboration. Shalom Azure |
