443 | Greetings to all on this Lord's Holy Day | Is 58:13 | azurelaw | 224420
Dear findrichard, Your post struck me when you complain users' cursing you which is beyond the fact. As I've read those posts associated with the thread, what I see is sincere (and so as your greetings, I believe) admonition addressed to you to comply with the guideline of the forum. I don't understand how you would discern such advice as "curse". Since you are new to the forum, those old timers are trying to guide you to pay attention to the TOU in order that your posting legitimation can be sustained. Thank you. Prov 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend,... Shalom Azure |

444 | Greetings to all on this Lord's Holy Day | Is 58:13 | azurelaw | 224423
Dear findrichard, You may call me Azure :-) We all are sinners saved by the wonderful grace of God. When I was new to the forum, I always reminded myself about the limitation of such communication platform - text. We cannot hear each other's voice nor can we see each other's faces. This kind of media could appear to be cold especially when we want to express our thought precisely. So, I try not to read too much emotion or feelings into the posts in order to avoid unnecessary misunderstanding. As an old timer (well not that old actually :-D) on the forum and my interaction with Beja, Brad, Searcher and Lionheart, and some others, I can assure you that they are brothers in Christ always speak the truth in LOVE. Don't think that you are condemned (I deeply believe this is not any of their intention) nor feel offended when being asked for correction or clarification. When we post, we have to also consider how other silent readers of the forum interpret what we have written. And we are to be careful with what we teach (James 3:1) Therefore, concerning the subject discussed, I think Beja has explained in his post 224421 about his concern clearly. I really hope that you would take his remarks into consideration. May God bless you and keep you. Shalom Azure |

Dear Brother Doc, Excellent quote. When I finish reading it, I think of Proverb 6:9-11 and a story (about a lazy boy) told to me when I was a child warning us not to be lazy: "In a village, lived a woman and her extremely lazy son. One day, the mother had to leave home for a couple of days. In worrying about her son's diet provision, she made an enormously huge ring shape bread which was good enough for her son during her absence from home. After she put the bread around the neck of her son who was still lying in bed lazily, she departed. Days passed and she went home after finishing her business. Upon her arrival, she found the son lying dead already and she noticed that he was starve to death as he only ate the part that was laid close to his mouth for he was too lazy to turn the bread around." 447 | Scripture dealing with depression | Jeremiah | azurelaw | 226024
Dear eklmattke, Well, this is a study Bible forum. So, if brother Doc's "opinion" (as you termed it) is in line with the scripture and demonstrates a sound exegesis, this is not just some mere "opinion". We must be careful when we post our reply in public especially when we deal with God's Holy Word. (please reread the TOU of the forum) My feedback to your earlier post 226012 which you said "...because they are comforted knowing that God has plans and a future for them", : May I ask What kind of a plan or future that God has if the person is NOT a believer? Shalom Azure P.S. Most of the time we ignore the most needful lecture just because we do not request it. (Prov 12:15) |

451 | New covnant w/ Isrl or proph on Christ? | Jer 31:22 | azurelaw | 196814
Dear Val and Cheri, I am sorry and I should have presented my question better. Let me try if I can put it in a more structural way for better understanding. The commentaries I've read mainly favour the view that it speaks about virgin Mary's conceiving Christ. I have the problem here in understanding "a woman" and "compass". Mary is a virgin not a woman unless it also bears the meaning as in the AMP version "a female". "compass" my Chinese bible translated it as protect - this is also one of the meanings in the AMP version. How can Mary protect Jesus Christ? Other commentaries addressed the idea as the Jewish church seeking after God and returned to Him (a mighty man). Or the church under NT embracing Christ. I feel these explanation follow the context of the chapter, but cannot explain "has created", "a new thing" and "compass". I find it difficult for me to express it well. Hope you understand what my questions are. Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

453 | New covnant w/ Isrl or proph on Christ? | Jer 31:22 | azurelaw | 196818
Dear Doc, Thanks for the answer. It helps a lot. However, one more doubt : why not use "conceive" instead of "compass". Does it bear any special meaning or message to the Israelite in the time of Jeremiah's by using this word? Shalom Azure |

Dear Doc, Thank you for your time spent for helping me out. I have also read John Calvin's commentary. Though I find his a strong argument, I still have trouble in understanding as per below:- If the verse renders the meaning as a weak woman stands for the Israelite under captive and the mighty man the "Babylon", and being regarded as a sort of revolution, this I would agree with John Calvin's notion saying it a wonderful thing. But I don't see it a new thing created. Then how should I rightly understand the phrase "the Lord HAS CREATED a NEW THING..." ? Please let me know if I did not make my question clear. Again, thanks for your patience. Shalom Azure |

458 | verse on sabbatical year | Jer 34:8 | azurelaw | 197456
Dear Cheri, Thank you for your help. It is much appreciated. The verse (Jer 29:10) you quote is a prophesy about the duration of the Israelite being in captivity under Babylon as per my understanding. I am not sure if it has any connection. What I am looking for is whether there is a historical record showing it the sabbatical year when Zedekiah made the covenant to set free the slaves according to Moses law. Shalom Azure |

460 | God's decree on His elects - oppression | Jer 50:33 | azurelaw | 199456
Dear Brother John, Thanks. For sure I am glad to be God's elect. I should have put one more '?' on my first paragraph. I want to know if my such understanding as to Jer 50:33 biblical. The word "all" is pretty weighty to me as I think it would not be possible that "all" nations hold the same attitude toward the Jews or a specific group of people (or the elect...or all beleivers) unless some of their God granted attributes, nature or characteristics cause it. Am I clear or just muddying the water further? Thanks for your patience with me. Shalom Azure |
