361 | who said if I perish I perish and who di | Esth 4:16 | azurelaw | 206551
Dear bowler, No need for apologies :-) When you stay long enough with the forum, it will be much easier for you to identify it (sometimes we may be wrong). Our concern is just to avoid spoiling students when they are required to work diligently for their own answer instead of getting the short cut. Shalom Azure 2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. |

362 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | azurelaw | 233114
Dear Preston, May I offer my input here for your thought. Sometimes it would not be appropriate to simply provide a "yes or no" or "agree or disagree" answer as it is in the case of your question. Because sometimes, people's answer might not be COMPLETELY wrong, yet not answer to the point. If we only seek agreement from others on the forum, it could end up with emotional attitude or "hot" debate (I am glad to see a friendly and willing to discuss attitude in your posts, and I hope we won't head the wrong way despite we are being challenged or disagreed with). That is why the host provides us a guideline of posting that - Postings must be Biblically based. - Postings must not oppose the Bible's sole authority (sola Scriptura). While reading your communication with Doc, I find that your assertion contains no scriptural support. Thus it is hard for us to agree on that. But can I say yours completely wrong, no. However, I believe your assertion "G-d created Satan to give you and I a choice between.... good and evil...simple as that." is only part of those countless means/situations that God decrees for His Glory. So, therefore, as Doc has rightly put and it is in accord with the Orthodox doctrines, God creates everything for His Glory. Sorry that I don't cite scripture in this post because I am in echo with Doc's scriptural citation. Shalom Azure P.S. While responding to your post, I can't help to recall the scenario of working on multiple choices question in examination. There are tricky questions demanding for the "most suitable" answer from those options that seemingly correct :-) |

363 | The Hubris Moral Perfectionism | Job 22:29 | azurelaw | 226202
Dear Brother Doc, Wow, thank God for J. C. Ryle. 1 Cor 13:12 "...we see in a mirror dimly..." comes to mind (excuse me for taking it out of context). Isn't it interesting that people will usually regard the image/vision being seen through a softly veiled lens perfectly beautiful and spotless (as is the method used in photographing)? By creating such an illusion, most people are willingly and happily deluded. Shalom Azure |

364 | Can angels sing? | Job 38:7 | azurelaw | 177702
Dear Hank, Yes, in searching the NASB or the Amplified version, there is no mention about angels sing. However, I have just found out in my NIV bible the following verse: Revelation 5:11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they SANG: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, ...." Translation problem? God bless Azure |

365 | Can angels sing? | Job 38:7 | azurelaw | 177739
Dear Hank, Thanks for your answer - a lengthy one indeed. So thank you for your time as well. I agree to your argument that the issue of angel singing does not hinder/help us on our salvation and understanding of God, the translation of God's word does. I really need to get one or two more bibles for my study as my interaction with you - brothers and sisters on this forum - reveals that I am not serious or hardworking enough on bible study. :-( God bless you Azure |

367 | the book of Job | Job 42:7 | azurelaw | 182427
Dear Barach, Thanks for your response. 1/ Sorry that I forgot to put down the verse concerning my question about the spirit. It appears in Ch 4:15. However, I would start with verse 12 to 21. I suspect that it was an evil spirit to make use of Job's friend to shake Job's faith. 2/ Thanks. So, base on their (Job's friends) background, they might have considered that they were telling the truth. 3/ Shall I view that they were not Job's GOOD friends or they misunderstood Job? But if they were not Job's good friend, I can't understand how they could act so dearly to Job as described 2:11 to 13. I agree with you that "Sincerity is not a test of accuracy" I think, if my point 1 above biblically sound, we have to be very careful on the source of comfort and the driving force of action when we show our care and offer our help to our friends who might be in troubles. Thanks in advance for further input. Shalom Azure |

368 | Comforting verse for non-believers | Psalm | azurelaw | 189131
Dear InGodITrust, Cheri, John and Hank, Just got the time to write this note after picking up my daughter from school. Thank you all for your concern and care. Before I could comfort anyone, I am blessed with all your comforts and love shown to me. Though my mood is still a bit gloomy, strengths have been regained with your kind words. Hank, thank you for the scripture which is one of my favourites. May the family be blessed with our Saviour's inspiring Words. May you all be blessed abundantly. Love in Christ and Shalom Azure |

369 | Is it a sin to be cremated after you die | Psalm | azurelaw | 189797
Dear Blessedman, "The Bible actually does not give any specific teaching about cremation. Cremation was practiced in Biblical times, but it was not commonly practiced by the Hebrews or by New Testament believers. Some believers object to the practice of cremation on the basis that it does not recognize that one day God will resurrect our bodies and re-unite them with our soul and spirit (1 Corinthians 15:35-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:16). However, the fact that a body has been cremated does not make it any more difficult for God to resurrect a body. The bodies of Christians who died a thousand years ago have completely turned into dust by now ¨C and God will be able to raise their bodies. Cremation does nothing but ¡°expedite¡± the process of turning a body into dust. God is equally able to raise a person¡¯s remains that have been cremated as He is the remains of a person who was not cremated." (source:http://www.gotquestions.org/cremation-Bible.html£© I believe it is subject to personal preference. I have my will written and saved in my computer that cremation be exercised after all my usable organs be donated when I die, and the ash be used for plantation. No need to keep my remains anywhere. :-) P.S. The customs of burial for Chinese is to keep the whole body, we (not me) are quite tough with this. Hope your doubt has been clarified (at least on the Chinese part). Enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |

370 | Doe sGod hear prayer of unbeliever | Psalm | azurelaw | 200820
Dear Brother lionheart, Thank you for your kind words. Yes, we were all unbelievers not knowing about what prayer is needless to say how to pray. Even now, we believe, we are still striving to learn how to pray. Rom 8:26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; Shalom Azure |

376 | the Power of Prayer | Ps 5:1 | azurelaw | 213948
What various hindrances we meet In coming to a mercy-seat! Yet who that knows the worth of pray'r, But wishes to be often there? Pray'r makes the dark'ned cloud withdraw, Pray'r climbs the ladder Jacob saw; Gives exercise to faith and love, Brings ev'ry blessing from above. Restraining pray'r, we cease to fight; Pray'r makes the Christian's armour bright; And Satan trembles, when he sees The weakest saint upon his knees. While Moses stood with arms spread wide, Success was found on Israel's side; But when thro' weariness they fail'd, That moment Amalek prevail'd. Have you no words! Ah, think again, Words flow apace when you complain; And fill your fellow-creature's ear With the sad tale of all your care. Were half the breath thus vainly spent, To heav'n in supplication sent; Your cheerful song would oft'ner be, "Hear what the LORD has done for me!" ---William Cowper |

377 | What hope do we have, but His Mercy | Ps 6:4 | azurelaw | 213395
"For thy mercies' sake." What a plea that is! How prevalent it is with God! If we turn to justice, what plea can we urge? but if we turn to mercy we may still cry, notwithstanding the greatness of our guilt, "Save me for thy mercies' sake." --- C.H. Spurgeon |

379 | Stronghold | Ps 18:2 | azurelaw | 191681
***************** Stronghold I have found a place of safety and comfort, surrounded by the arms of God. My faith is constant, my hope always ready. Love waits to jump into action, but held in check by obedience to Him. All are tempered within Gods timing, for only He has total control over them. We have learned a delightful two-step together, He leads, I follow. I feel a knowing of my God, draws me closer still. Acting in concert, His Spirit knows His heart. My choice, to always follow, and do as bid. For this choice, He protects, He comforts, He gives His love. I have no personal concept of humility, I know of it, but believe it just "is". Define it, no I cannot, because it is hidden behind an unseen veil. More a condition of the heart, than anything seen. It is now a time of putting all the years of faith together. With age comes His comfort, and that Haven, of those encircling arms, that soft voice. I thrill myself, in knowing Him, hearing Him, and His choice of Loving me as His son. - George J. Miller ******************** |
