341 | 1 Kings Chapter 13 | 1 Kin 13:1 | azurelaw | 179020
Dear Hank, I am glad to receive your post. Truly, you have been on my list when I join the forum. I am not only benefited with spiritual growth but also my improvement in English from most of you here. Everytime when I log on the forum, I won't forget to put my dictionary in front of me. The first book of C.S. Lewis I read was "Mere Christianity" (a Chinese version) 20 years ago which I found convincing and interesting. But at that time I did not know who he was, only after 10 years I had chance to read more of his books. I thank God for bringing me to this forum to know you guys. The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just. The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip. (Psalm 37:30-31) Grace to you Hank. N.B. I was imagining what a scene it would be when we all meet in heaven one day that do we recognize each other. I believe we do. You are labelled with Hank, Doc, Steve, John, Kalos, Tim, Joanna, Jeff....a long long que before His Throne. :-) Azure |

342 | 1 King 15:14 Asa had gone astray? | 1 Kin 15:14 | azurelaw | 178013
Thanks Doc, Hope I can make myself clear with my limitation of English. When studying King 1 and 2 and the Chronicles, shall I view that in King, there are God's comments on the leaders or specific persons mentioned pertaining to His final judgement on their lives before Him? Whereas the Chronicles record in detail the works (be they right or wrong) of the leaders or specific persons. Hope you understand what I have written. In Christ. Azure N.B. I remember when I was a teenager, I saw a horrible God in the OT. He punishes, kills, easily gets angry with His people. However, after I grew up and read the OT again, I was so much wrong. What I have seen is a God full of great mercy and love. He cannot wait to be gracious to us. There are times I was so much moved when reading the scriptures and I cried. God is so good we don't deserve anything from Him. Hallelujah, Praise the Lord! |

343 | 450 or 850? | 1 Kin 18:19 | azurelaw | 241081
Dear EdB, Thank you very much for your help. By the way, are you able to figure out why only the 450 false prophets of Baal was emphasized there? Could it be that the prophets of Baal were of higher ranking than those of the Asherah? Shalom Azure |

344 | Why God killed boys for teasing Elisha | 2 Kings | azurelaw | 195972
Dear Val, Excuse me for buting in. I believe brother Doc will have a better answer. However, may I humbly offer my understanding as to Joash's crying over Elisha fatal illness. I believe Joash had been made known by his forefathers about Elisha in connection with the heavenly chariots and horsemen (2 King 6:17 when the King of Aram warred against Israel and God brought victory to Israel with His chariots and horsemen). Thus Joash regarded Elisha as the protection of Israel (v 5). This also shows that Joash relied on man not God. Both he and his father Jehoahaz did evil in the sight of the LORD (2 Kin 13:2, 13), but Jehoahaz at least did seek God's protection directly (v 4) while there was no mention about Joash of the same attitude. It is also interesting to see Joash cried out the same as what Elisha did when Elijah was taken away from him by God. (2 King 2:12). Just my 2 cents worth. Shalom Azure |

345 | jezebel's death? | 2 Kings | azurelaw | 198178
Dear BMyers, Very well put, thank you. James 4:6 ... it says, "God is opposed to the PROUD, but give grace to the humble." Shalom Azure P.S. Wish both of you (micael03 and BMyers) a fruitfully blessed year of 2008. |

346 | why does Elisha need music to intercede | 2 Kin 3:15 | azurelaw | 197412
Dear Brother Doc, Thank you for your kind words. I remember you told me about that you seldom listen to music (if you meant classical sacred hymns or music) and at that time I thought you have missed so much in enjoying the spiritual harmony through classical sacred hymns or music. There were times when I was doing my housework and started the CD with those sacred hymns in hoping to get a more relaxing atmosphere while working, I can tell you that I could never continue my work but just sit down, listen and meditate; well sometimes I do join the CD to sing as well :-) Psalm 47 Shalom Azure |

347 | why does Elisha need music to intercede | 2 Kin 3:15 | azurelaw | 197419
Bass, wow, definitely. We are very much in need of bass and it has been a headache for me to get more. You know, Chinese males are usually slim (comparatively) thus take part mainly as tenors. Thanks for your offer. :-) Azure |

348 | Should Christian men wear a beard? | 1 Chr 19:5 | azurelaw | 190566
You are welcome, Bearded Bro. While some of my friends prefer to have their hair dyed in order to cover the white hair, I regard myself growing in wisdom with it. Just a comfort to myself :-) Enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |

349 | Should Christian men wear a beard? | 1 Chr 19:5 | azurelaw | 190778
Dear Bearded Bro, How would you interpret Gen 27:11? Jacob is chosen by God (although God chose him not by his smooth body, but His own will). Furthermore, many Asian men don't have beard. Shall they stick some onto their faces in order to obtain the masculine image (as you claimed) of God? Shalom Azure |

350 | Should Christian men wear a beard? | 1 Chr 19:5 | azurelaw | 190788
Dear Brother Paul, Thanks for your reply. I agree with brother BradK. My 2 cents of thought: When one climbs a tree, one should always grasp the main and strong branches to hold him/her safely instead of the small ones or even the leaves. Else, the person will fall to the ground. Shalom Azure |

Dear Hiker, What you have just said is exactly my point! That's why I don't understand your message in your previous post. Did you read the whole thread? Shalom Azure |

355 | Biblical basis for Revival | 2 Chronicles | azurelaw | 220491
Dear lightedsteps, When reading your post and question, the Book of Ezekial comes to mind. I think Eze chapter 37 should be a typical event taught in the Bible about revival. Actually, I think the whole Book of Ezekial has a lot revival concepts in it. Just my 2 cents. Shalom Azure |

Dear Quvmoh, It's so good to see more of your posts. By the way, if you could provide scriptural reference for your answer, it would also be helpful for forum readers to better understand. Shalom Azure |

And I believe Brother Doc would be happy to reccommend you some as well. He has a lot of good stuff and one of them is monergism.com. Shalom Azure |

360 | who said if I perish I perish and who di | Esth 4:16 | azurelaw | 206536
Dear bowler, We usually do not encourage answering homework questions directly on the forum such as this one looks like the kind of questions. However, sometimes we may be wrong in our guess as it happened recently that a decent and diligent lady, who is dyslexic, posted quite a number of homework-like questions at one time on the forum. A belated welcome to you, bowler. It is nice to have you participate on the forum :-) Shalom Azure |
