321 | the name of G-d? | Judg 11:39 | azurelaw | 200600
Dear parpar, I am afraid you have wrongly directed your message to militaryguy. The quotes you cited were actually from user halroy. So, if halroy is still active on the forum, he/she could probably read of your post from the main page of SBF. Else, you might need to re-direct your post to him/her again. Hope you enjoy the forum :-) God bless and Shalom Azure |

322 | Sam 2 Ch 15 v. 16 David n his concubines | 1 Samuel | azurelaw | 174525
Dear Doc, Thanks for the answer. But there are still some to be cleared for my doubts. 1/ Could we say that David was compassionate to the women whom he had left behind and caused their sexual impurity in the hands of Absalom? 2/ Couldn't he just divorce them so that they could marry again instead of forcing to be a widow to the rest of their lives? 3/ Was it really necessary for David to leave them at the palace when he was fleeing? I don't mean to be picky against David (and I dare not to coz he is so perfect in the eyes of God. Who am I to judge him or any one? I always admire his faith and love towards God and his kindness and love towards his people and friends. That is why I have the above questions or doubts) Azure |

324 | Why Saul did not recognize David? | 1 Samuel | azurelaw | 189523
Dear John, Thanks for your answer. However, please also read 1 Sam 17:42 "When the Philistine looked and saw David, he disdained him; for he was but a youth, and ruddy, with a handsome appearance." This seems not in accord with your note. Your further enlightenment would be very much appreciated. Shalom Azure |

Thank you Kalos, If Saul recognized David, then why did he ask for the name of his father which should be known to him (1 Samuel 16:18-23) beforehand. Shalom Azure |

Dear Hank, I missed that point. Thank you for your further clarification. However, there are a number of card games for entertainment, I rather choose not putting myself in the temptation. :) Shalom Azure |

330 | Was this really Samuel's spirit? | 1 Sam 28:11 | azurelaw | 201899
Dear budderfligh, Thank you for your kind words. We all come to learn here and I have been blessed so much by many brothers and sisters on this forum. Blessings and honour be to God forever. I understand from your profile that you have been engaged in young adult ministry for quite a number of years. I was just newly involved in a youth group middle of last year. I believe I have a lot to learn from you. Wish you could stay around and break the bread together. Shalom Azure |

332 | Was this really Samuel's spirit? | 1 Sam 28:11 | azurelaw | 201924
Dear Sister Val, Thank you for the note. You are right and I agree with the approach on interpreting scriptures, for sure. I have checked again v13 that it said "a spirit" (NIV), "gods" (KJV), "a divine" (NASB) and even the AMP version "a god [terrifying superhuman being]" that does not clearly indicate it a devil. However, neither did the scripture say the Lord allowed Samuel to speak to Saul one last time as gvgriffin had put it. Did I miss anything? Good to have your feedback. Shalom Azure |

334 | Was this really Samuel's spirit? | 1 Sam 28:11 | azurelaw | 201942
Dear budderfligh, This is a follow up note that I hope you would have read the discussion among Sister Val, Brother WOS and me. I think Val (post 201923) has made a good point in correcting my post (201839) concerning the point about the devil spirit. I believe you will also do a comparison on Metthew Henry's and others' in the link provided as well as with the scripture. I also agree with WOS' observation (post 201934) that the case is a devine intervention as some scholars had noted that it was a special miracle of God's intervention as was in the case recorded in Mat 17:3 - the spirit of the dead (Moses)appeared. So, it is reasonable to believe that it's Samuel's spirit talking to Saul with God's approval. How so good it is that there are always brothers and sisters here to correct you (i.e. me)! This is truly the exercise of love. (Proverb 27:5) Shalom Azure |

338 | 1 Kings Chapter 13 | 1 Kin 13:1 | azurelaw | 178908
Thank you, brother Doc, 1/ Yes, I am quite sure the man of God is also a prophet. However, I am a rather confused with the 'old prophet'. Is he a spokesman of God (i.e. a true prophet), an 'anyone' prophet, or a false prophet (similar to the prophets of Baal)? 2/ Did the 'old prophet' do it out of his own curiosity? 3/ I am sorry that I did not make my question clear on this part. I was asking what the teaching was concerning the story between the man of God and the old prophet. However, your answer did give me some insight that the killing of the prophet had demonstrated God's firm and stern decision on punishing Jeroboam for his disobedience and sin. 4/ My question here also refered to the punishment on the man of God. My doubt has been resolved with your answer together with Mark's input. Thank God for sending you and Mark to answer my question. I have read your post #157733 and other posts following your thread. They are great. I will try not to make those kinds of mistakes, but it takes time to develop such skill. In Christ. :-) Azure |

340 | 1 Kings Chapter 13 | 1 Kin 13:1 | azurelaw | 178955
Dear Joanna, Thanks for your input. Your last statement reminds me of an amazing experience 2 weeks ago. I had a rare chance to go shopping at a mall where I seldom go. There, a shop attracted me to get in with its window dressing. When I was enjoying my time to look around, the sales lady approached and showed me their new product - a lamp made of crystal salt from Hamalya, which I turned down for the reason that I interpreted it as the kind of crystal people claim to obtain good health, wealth, power etc by owning it. (I skip some of the details here which are not so much relevant to the theme) After knowing that I am a Christian, our conversation about religion started. She told me that she had converted to Christ a month ago. She found it amazing that she was convinced to make such decision by a teenager (mantelly retarded) whom she met only 3 times nearby her home and they had never talked before. She met the teenager the day before she was invited to a church gathering. The boy walked up to her and said (like a normal person) "Believe in Jesus. It is good to believe in Him. You should believe in Jesus." The sales lady was struck. The next day, she converted to Christ. After hearing her story, I cited the example of Balaam to encourage her that even a donkey was used by God to deliver His message. We both praised the Lord and glorified God. Love in Christ Azure |
